Consultants in Gastroenterology, P.C.: what do users think?
James Edmiston: Great service !
Karen Mccourt: I didn't feel the NP was interested in my issues. I have been ill for several months. And I was hoping to get some answers. She kept stretching and twisting in her chair when she was talking to me. Like she was trying to get her back to pop or something. I was there on a Friday on Monday I tried to call for questions I had and could never get to a nurse to speak with. Very discouraged. Kept getting the schedule line.
Curtis Rudy: Professional and helpful. Did not see doctor, saw nurse.
Candi Vance: Everyone at the Digestive Health Specialists are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful!
Bad News: Very good
Shirley Bogue: My only complaint is you never see the doctor you have been assigned to. Only a Nurse Practitioner. I don’t even know the doctor
Ginger Leroux-Hough: Your people that are working in the office are very incompetent it took them over 5 days to figure out that my insurance was not accepted through you guys after I'd already spent a day off going to the doctor running tests the doctor wanted me to do this is been very disappointing and I'm tired of your organization blaming me saying it is my fault it is not my fault I gave you guys my insurance card when I was at your office and you not once told me my insurance insurance was not accepted actually you told me my insurance was accepted because I asked so now I'm back to square one not feeling good trying to figure out what's going on with me and then you guys added stress on me very very professional company.
tammy maxwell: Trying to have a colonoscopy
nina johnson: The nurse practioner I saw was very uninvolved. I felt like she has already made up in her mind what the outcome of the visit was going to be before she even saw me. Did not listen to me as a patient.
Antonio Rojas Flor: Amazing Staff and personable professionals!
Tina Olvera: Very thorough very professional the staff was super friendly and very comforting as I was dealing with a lot of anxiety
Kristi Allman: I do not understand the current way of medicine.. You barely listen to me, and you're handing me a pill for pain instead of trying to understand what's wrong. This is why cancer rates are so high. Ignorance is bliss 😊
Dick Michael: I was brought back to the exam room15 minutes before appointment time. The nurse practitioner interviewed and examined me and I was out of the office before my appointment time. Very professional.
Daniel Callaway: What can I say??? They did their jobs professionally!
Lee Griffin: Johnna. Wonderful nurse
Becky Schatz: Everyone was very friendly and answered all my questions
Patty Bridges: Everyone was very nice,I was treated very well,,,got all the info I needed to take care of the problem
Marsha Clevenger: I was told I had to have blood work done because I am on blood thinners. I didn't have anything done except check weight, height, pushed on belly,swallow..... curious as to why nothing was done ?
Leslie Riggs: I have received excellent care at Consultants in Gastroentrrology at the Independence location. Over the course of several years, I have received consultations and treatment services from several doctors, and each have been excellent and earn my highest recommendation. The nurses and office staff are excellent, too, and they have worked me in on short notice, which is greatly appreciated. In addition, they have diagnosed conditions that are often elusive as many conditions have shared symptoms, especially in this field. They have placed patient safety as a priority. It is definitely a professional and well run medical organization. I
Mark Beyer: Very friendly from check in to finish
Iris Maxwell: Very pleasant and professional staff. On time (even early on taking care of me)

Jackson County Gastroenterology: what do users think?
Angela Lee: I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated everyone at Jackson County GI. Everyone I’ve talked to has listened and taken my pain seriously where it feels like some of the staff at my primary doctors just think I’m nuts or making it up. It really has meant so much to me when their office has called me about the appealing a pharmacy denial or just to follow up to make sure the offices they referred me to have reached out. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart!
Makenzie Mills: Don't get me wrong I think the doctors and nurses. But I feel like they are horrible at following up. I've called on and off since my last appointment last year, and always leave a message because they never answer the phone and I never get a return call to speak with a nurse or to schedule a follow up. I've had stomach issues for the past couple years and all I want to do is get past the issues and feel better! Just honestly wish they would hire people to make those calls back or to do the follow ups! And I'm still waiting on a call back!
Amara Afuvai-Jimenez: I've been waiting on a call back to schedule a procedure for my mother since 12/22/2022. Left two follow up messages for the nurses on 1/6/2023, and for scheduling on 1/9/2023. It is now 1/23/2023 and still NOTHING.The best part? The recording says that if you leave a message during regular business hours before a certain time (can't remember if it's 2:30pm or 3:00pm), that they will contact you that day. LIES! In addition to that, the recording says to not leave numerous messages. But how can you not if they don't return your original voicemail?!? Tell me...how is this professional in any way, shape, or form?!?ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING.And mind you, this long drag out process began months before 12/22/2022. But I don't have the energy to rehash all of that.Update. Today is 1/31/2023...still waiting for a return phone call to two voicemails.
Amber Nicole: The staff was nice enough but they never call you back. That makes me very uncomfortable as they had me scheduled for colonoscopy and endoscopy. I don’t trust they’d be around to answer questions if something happened after my surgery. So I am going elsewhere.
Julie Harding: I was a previous patient of this practice. Last visit, 2010. I've been trying to get my last colonoscopy records sent to another practice since September 27th. 9/27 called 4 times, 3 were voice mail, 1 was answered, and I asked. 9/28 called 3 times, 2 were voicemail, 1 was answered, and I asked again. 9/30 called answered asked one more time. Here we are, 10/3/22, still no report at the practice I need it sent to. Today, I've called 8 times all voicemail, 1 answered, but it was the practice manager/billing dept, and I passed on a message for the practice manager to call me back. It's been over an hour now, and no call back yet. Apparently, I'm going to have to make an in-person appearance. 🤨 wth? Don't try calling this practice for anything; all you get is their VOICEMAIL! What a terrible way to take care of people...
Sue Greisen: Had a great experience with Dr Namin. Very kind, helpful and caring. Would recommend!
Michell Stinson: He's a wonderful doctor and takes very good care of his patients.
Sameer Warikoo: The service I received was superb. Staff were polite, professional and took time to explain procedures clearly. Time was taken to double-check the details and go over my prep instructions. I will absolutely use the clinic again and would have no hesitation in recommending them!
Ramon Vallejo: The nurse practitioner was a nice guy. The front office lady is so rude. I just got my bill not even a week ago. They wanted payment when my insurance company gave them thousands. I’m not in default of any payment so let me pay when I choose to pay. What ever happened to being a medical professional and your staff being courteous and polite. I think they forget that what field they are in.
Eli F: Very good customer service. Doctors are very nice and really worry about your health. Went in for an office visit and the medical assistant even scheduled my colonoscopy before I left. Thank you very much
Anthony Freeman Sr: Got money? Good they want it. Couldn’t care less about patients and would rather collect than help you. Wouldn’t even schedule an emergency appointment until they got paid. Beware!!
Nck Willig: Best nap I ever had!! Smallest hands in the industry really knows how to make you feel comfortable!
Thomas Michaels: not the best
Neelie Barbookles: I have been going to this practice for over a decade. When I first became ill the doctor I was going to treated me with steroids and Vicodin for 2 years with a monthly colonoscopy. Yes, MONTHLY! That doctor ruined my joints. A friend I worked with told me about Jackson County Gastro and Dr Vardakis figured out what was going on and got me on medications that gave me my life back. I have had such a better quality of life because of him and his practice.
Crystal Albert: This place deserves 0 stars. They had my spouse come in to the office only for him to be told they never got the copy of the CAT scan they needed. He waited a week to call to follow up (as apparently they cannot be bothered to follow up with patients) and they still had not received what was needed waited another week and called again to the very rude unprofessional staff member they have employed at the Independence location only to be hung up on and spoken to condescendingly for the failure on their behalf. Here we are 3 weeks out and no closer to any answers because of the failure on this office to get some medical history. We are in the age of technology so it is a hard sell to me that they cannot handle these things in a timely fashion. The secretary or whoever she is needs to take some accountability and learn how to deal with public if she is going to be in a consumer facing role. Period. I urge anyone who has a health issue to avoid this place at all cost they don’t care about you and your health. They just want to bill your insurance.
Felicia Barton: This was a great place. The nurse practioner, Johnna is amazing.
michael randeersa: DO NOT GO HERE! The staff is horrible, the doctors are terrible, I'm not sure why the city hasn't shut this place down. I received absolutely no help, staff NEVER picks up and never calls back. Once they have your money it's over, you're dead to them.
Jill Rowland: Not impressed. The majority of the visit was not about my GI issues. I learned a lot about him and random things though. 😏 Seemed bored with the hum drum repetitive nature of his profession...looked at my test results reading down the page "blah blah blah". I got a scope done 2 weeks ago by another physician but he seemed to think I needed another one. For me that's code for "let's drag this on as long as we can"
willi seed: this place just wants your money. Don't waste your time and money coming here
Jonh Roberts: wouldn't come here even if I was dying
C Hunsaker: I've never had any health problems aside from the typical cold here and there, so when I had some concerning issues show up out of no where, I was beyond panicked. My anxiety was through the roof at all times. I was making myself physically sick with worry and fear, constantly thinking the worst. My regular doctor put in a referral to go here, and at first it seemed fine. The doctor I had been assigned to called me and we had an appointment over the phone. After that though, it all went down hill. We started by ruling out simple problems, things I could fix myself. After no changes and worsening symptoms, I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. No problem. Dr. K performed the procedure. He was very quick to prescribe me pain meds for my current pain, but once my results came back normal, he seemed to have dubbed me fine. At one point his nurse even saying as much directly to me. Any time I called to get help on what I should try next, what would be the next step for me since things clearly aren't going back to normal themself, I was told to take stool softeners, then anti-diarriall (sorry if that's TMI but if your telling me to take both, don't you think something is wrong?) It felt like there was a constant miscommunication, or none at all. I felt like nobody ever knew what my problems really were, just heard a part of my symptoms and told me to take OTC things. "Just take them till the symptoms go away." Eventually I was making 3 phone calls everytime just to get one return call, and after a while of that, no return calls at all. Maybe it was because I was so young, after all, young people can't ever have any health problems right? That's sarcasm by the way. I can't believe I spent 6 months of my life in pure panic with doctors that clearly don't care.THEN, after they charged me twice for the same thing, with nothing but "Yeah I don't know why that happened," as their excuse, it took over a month and a half and 2 phone calls (and a 3rd one to actually confirm that the check had been mailed out) to get the money sent to me so I could stop going here. I'd say I'm baffled at such service, but after having dealt with it for so long, it's no longer a surprise for this place. I would never recommend going here.

Digestive Health Specialists, LLC: what do users think?
Christine Harris: Saw doctors there for a couple years for a severe stomach pain. They kept me in antacid medicine even though I told them I didn’t think it was heartburn. Two endoscopy’s and a feeding test they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. I stopped my medicines and I slowly healed. A few months ago I got iritis and my eye doctor suggested autoimmune testing and was surprised my GI doctor never requested this. They tests discovered I have celiac’s disease. But they ruled it out since I don’t have internal damage because I eat a grain free diet. Never once did they ask any of the questions. So a few thousand dollars later and unnecessary procedures they never figured out what was wrong with me. I’m so grateful for my eye doctor for suggesting this test and figuring it out for me.
Carlene Roberts: The saying "If I could give a negative star" stands true to this place! Angie is super rude and confrontational. I was going to be a new patient at this office but I had to cancel my appt due to getting covid before my original appointment date. At that time I called nd spoke to someone and let them know I would call to rebook. They cont. to send me text to confirm the appt I canceled and then sent me a bill for a no show. When I called to complain ANGIE spoke loudly over me constantly interrupting me. She was VERY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND PASSIVE AGRESSIVE.
Jacob Hasty: AVOID AVOID AVOIDNo matter your insurance coverage, they will bill you directly as well as insurance. They will have extensive information of how they sent you information even when you didn't get any of it.. They will claim your bill is for charges not covered by you insurance and your insurance will say they never received it. Go ANYWHERE else. Convenience of location will cost you hundreds if you go here..Don't forget they charge no show fees and force you to schedule next appointment too.AVOID AVOID AVOID
Kenny Craig: Nurses were great but Dont waste your time having them pre-authorize as even when they give your out of pocket ahead of time they have no problem doubling it and blaming insurance, Not sure why the pre-authorize was done when they have no idea what the final out of pocket is anyway.
D Beasley: The phone staff is very rude. The don't let you talk and rush you off the phone. Every time I called they didn't know anything. Thanks but no thanks
Kelubia Ewiwile: Sent my bill to the wrong address and refused to acknowledge their mistake.
