Centerpoint Medical Center Emergency Room: what do users think?
Susan Helton: Everything was great except I would have thought they would have washed the blood off my face from my fall.
Drake Murphey: I waited 2 hours just to be put in another spot and waited 6 more hours and still didn’t even get what I needed
Jennifer Frink: 5/12 visit: Everyone was very kind, but it took getting poked 5 times before someone got an IV in. I had a CT scan done and everyone was pretty efficient. The ER doc was nice, but I didn't see him much. My surgeon was at the hospital so he stopped in to see me and check on me which was nice. When I had surgery on 4/24 I was poked a total of 13 times that day because they couldn't get a line in, or it would not stay. I have never had these issues anywhere else and it was very difficult. I also had a horrible night nurse - I was waiting four hours after I went to recovery with no IV, couldn't take meds by mouth and my nurse was rude, impatient and not understanding while we were waiting for someone to come try to put in an IV so I could have pain meds. I was shaking uncontrollably all over trying to mentally manage my extreme pain and she stopped checking on me, was rude and short if I asked a question and had horrible bedside manner.
Mark Stalsworth Sr: I took my wife there after she fell and injured her foot. Like every ER, it took a while to be seen. Once she was seen, care was provided fairly quickly. Diagnosis was two broken toes (Dr x-rays revealed 3 broken toes), and she was provided a walking boot. My complaint is that no care was given fitting the boot. She was given a large, when she should have been given a medium. Insurance only pays for one every two years, so I had to order the right size on line. Not a huge cost, but inconvenient and unnecessary.
Mackenzie Bristow: If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I went in on memorial day with an unknowm throat infection, all my medical information was available to them. My primary doctor told me to go to the ER if I could not swallow so I did. They didn't take any test, they didn't check my ears, nor my throat. They listened to not one concern I had, gave me fluids and sent me home. Two days later, I'm at my primary again and the infection is not responding to antibiotics and is now in my ears, and I could go deaf. This ER is a money grab, they care nothing for their patients. I also asked if the nurse practitioner that saw me, if her name was on my paperwork, they said yes, but it was not.
Shyanne Craig: Very helpful gave me alot of local resources
Tonya Reed: I went to ER Saturday and Sunday on this weekend, Sunday evening was when I had the bad experience. Rude, unthoughtful, unempathetic female nurse that checked me in. The one that asks why I'm there and what's going on. Everyone always says don't go to centerpoint , but I did. Silly me I won't make the mistake again.
Fallon Marcotte: The wait was way too long..
Ginger Gunn: I waited 3 weeks to provide this review, to think things through and be balanced in my response. My mother died two days after leaving this hospital. I felt that some of the nurses who provided her treatment were harsh and uncaring. The family received little support from the staff and case manager was adversarial. The patient advocate tried her best to address this. I'm in health care and know what good care looks like. I'd encourage anyone reading this to consider how you'd like your parent to be treated during the most difficult and scary moments of their life. Also, consider going to a different hospital.
Monet Harrison: Best Service from a hospital I had in a long time I’m here traveling from Arizona and Nurse Bailey & Dr.Micheal provided the best and fast care at that & did I mention I’m from out of state and didn’t have no insurance to use and I still received the best care
Jennifer Laughlin: Jen Vargas and Tia Simer treated our entire family for respiratory infections. They were so both professional and compassionate! The staff was courteous and efficient. We were diagnosed and given prescriptions; now our family is on the road to recovery. Our visit took 45 min. from the time we checked in until we were out the door!!! I highly recommend this facility to anyone who is in need of emergency care.
Kristin Wiebold: It was ok. It was very Busy, but I wasn't having much seizures so I didn't mind the longer wait. But I didn't realize I was at centerpoint medical center ER til they were signing me out. BUT I was impressed by one nurse who got my vien in one try instead of bruising me all over. So thumbs up for her
Rene Robinson: I finally got some answers to what has been wrong with me and that I needed to see my primary doctor to move forward. Was very thankful for the Nurse Practitioner that was there to give the answers I needed her knowledge was so helpful from her part experiences was a key factor giving me the answers I needed. She was awesome.
Carmen Boan: I was treated very kindly.
Jonathan Wilson: The online wait time was 5 min.. I sat for 45 min before I was looked at.. The nurse was not friendly at all. Then I was prescribed medication I told them I couldn’t take because I’ve had gastric bypass surgery and it would cause issues with my stomach.
Zee Waddy: Never have I ever gone to an ER and got done within an hour. Staff was excellent
Liz Rockford: My Grandmother was taken to Centerpoint ER via ambulance today and was immediately taken in with a kind and compassionate staff. Our nurse Alex has been wonderful explaining everything, and very attentive, even with being completely swamped with patients. This ER experience has been wonderful and I so appreciate it, as the ER be a scary place. Thank you Alex and the Centerpoint emergency medical team!
Andrew Baxter: Worst experience in a hospital. I complaint of throat pain and they didn't look in my throat. If they did, they would have seen that I had strep and would have given me antibiotics. Doctor needs to do a better job of diagnosis/visiting with patients.
Patty Mortensen: The staff, and doctors and nurses were very friendly and caring for me.
JoAnn Gastin: After a fall I came to the emergency room since Centerpoint is close to my home. Within twenty minutes I had a CT scan. All good. Everyone was very nice. Then I sat in a waiting room for THREE HOURS before anyone came to discuss it with me. (No fracture, no further treatment) and I could go home. I am 76 years old, exhausted by the time I could leave after waiting three hours sitting on an extremely uncomfortable chair.
Lupe Moe: Every staff member were friendly, kind and thoughtful. They apologized for the wait and helped me feel very comfortable. Thank you for a great service in a timely manner. I arrived between 1:30 to 2pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022. I left about 3:45pm. Staff were amazing. Thank you Centerpoint.👍

Urgent Care of Kansas City: what do users think?
Sharon Orton: I am glad that we have a urgent care close to home that we can go to when we have a medical problem.Nice caring staff, nurses and Doctors.
Alexandria Jersett: I rushed my husband here on Saturday night because he had been very dizzy and vomiting for days with a suspected ear infection. The doctor on staff that night took a look and told him he didn't have an ear infection, but offered to crack his neck instead to "drain the fluids"! Needless to say, this didn't work. And days later my husband was still BEDRIDDEN with dizziness, as the prescription steroid and antibiotics also were not working. He had to be rushed once again to a different clinic, where a different doctor confirmed he did have an inner ear infection. I am livid. Care is so expensive in this country and we have to waste our time with pseudoscientific nonsense that has unfortunately penetrated all spheres of everything. If a doctor offers to crack your neck for anything other than a stiff neck, run the other way!
Brenda Ashby: They were rude and did not want to do reccomended service from previous dr..I walked out..Never againNot professional at all!!!
Jessica Clarke: My son had fluid leaking from his ears. We had a house fire this past and I didn’t have his insurance card but the front lady eased all my anxiety even lent me her charger for my iPhone to complete the registration and have some charge on my phone! We had just been turned away from Carenow Independence due to saying Medicaid Healthy Blue was out of their network after not only being signed up virtually but also driving out to that location. They did however refer us to Urgentcare Kansas City which took great care of us!
heather steele: I was seen by Jennifer Grant and my daughter was seen by Dr. Garcia. Both took the time to listen to my concerns and the service was prompt and professional. Nurse practitioner Grant made me feel comfortable discussing my health issues with her and gave me excellent treatment. She discussed treatment options with meand made sure that i was comfortable with the medications i was being given and their prices as i do not have insurance. She was kind and attentive to all of my needs and concerns. Dr. Garcia did excellent with my daughter who is apprehensive about people looking in her ears or mouth, he took the time to make her feel comfortable and explained everything in a way that was understandable and went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and at ease. Would definitely recommend either of these providers without hesitation
Keisha's Unlimited Travel Vacations: The provider did a great job and I was given wonderful service at this urgent care.
Tina Tyler: The guy nurse that came and got me was nice and Dr. Shaun Garcia was very nice and listen to me and I didn't feel rushed with him at all! Very good experience with nurse and Dr today that I seen!
LASHAWNA LITTLEJOHN: Excellent service. I did not have my child's insurance card the staff went above and beyond to assist us they were extremely patient with us and the Doctor was Awesome as well ! Thank you
Rachelle Adams: Quick, professional, courteous...Perfect service for an urgent care facility! Thanks!
Andrea G.: Friendly, quick, seamless service. Went in on Saturday morning for a little rash and was in and out in under an hour.
judy linke: The doctor and nurse were very patient and kind to my 95 year old mother and listened patiently to the info I gave them. Thank you very much!
Michelle Miller: WORST TREATMENT EVERI went in tonight to be seenMy blood pressure was high they took it 4 times thinking it was reading wrong,Then claimed the machine was “broke” as I went into a room the dr came in he seemed very aggravated and just like he didn’t want to be there it was about 30 mins before they closed by that time but still NO EXCUSE not to do his JOBI told the dr my concerns and I never got any answers on what was wrong with me🤔He said my vitals were “fine”Even though my readings were highI asked if I could be dehydrated maybe ? and he said he didn’t knowThe dr then said do you want a drs note for work?I’m like sure but I would like to know what’s wrong with me 🤷‍♀️I asked is it a virus? I was then told yea,Nothing was done just checked my throat and ears and that’s it,After I left I went to cvs to pick up my prescription for nausea, and to take my bp and it was still high (hypertension stage 2)I will be calling following up with my own dr this week.I’m very dissatisfied in my treatmentI treat ppl better than this in retail,This treatment or lack there of was absolutely unacceptable especially in the medical field.
Keri Fellers: Best urgent care in town.
Dan Brown: The staff and care providers offered excellent, courteous, and professional care for my health condition.
Beth Lerno: Stacy is fantastic and so helpful- dr had test tan and ruled out anything serious - exactly what I needed and better then 10 hrs at the ER
Angela Barry: Friendly and professional very nice fast service didn’t have to wait long great staff
robert moore: Very professional and friendly.
Charlesetta Mathews: The entire staff from the receptionist to my Dr. A. Wells had a caring heart and listening ear. Thx u for helping me through this trying time.Charlesetta Mathews, RN
Charles Pardee: "No they where awsome. My doc was straight to the point and understood me and what I needed right off the bat. That guy needs a medal and a raise and so does the lady at the front desk. They both rock"
Brian Kirk: The staff was very helpful. The doctor was great. Just the way I like. Fast and to the point. 5 star service.
Robin Maiden: Always a wait (to be expected) once in great service and quick to listen and react accordingly.pleasant staff

Emergency Dental Service: what do users think?
Aaron Watson: I have been to the office twice and the dentists have taken care of me both visits. It did require an extended time on the phone line to get everything setup but it wasn’t overly long.
Louis Robichaud: We visited the other day my mother and I. The issue was a tooth extraction. I spoke with the ladies in the front and they acted patient and responded to all my insurance issues. The appointment went good and it’s all fixed up.
Pamela Sullivan: I was dealing with quite a bit of pain with a cracked tooth. I was also waiting a long time. About 45 minutes. Not a good combination. But they were able to fix the tooth so I am pleased. 👍
Angelina King: Leah is awesome and was able to set up my appointment quickly. I never knew about this place until that time I broke a tooth. They did a good job fixing it.
Maribel Hamilton: This place was able to get me in quickly for a chipped tooth. Fixed it in less than a half hour.
Melody Griffin: I hate waking up with a nasty toothache. But that's exactly what happened. They had to pull it upon further examination. Would recommend 🙌
HawklordLI: Does this place even exist? I sent an email and after a week still no answer.
Velma Cox: I was driving through Independence at around 11pm. I cracked a tooth when eating Life Savers and I was in pain. I found out about this place and pulled in right around midnight. They fixed the tooth and I was back on the road. Thanks.

Carmelia Reed: I was in independence for a wedding. The day before I woke up with a bad toothache and had to get it pulled. This place was amazing and I never have anything like this where I live.
Tan marino: When I cracked a tooth biting a cherry pit, started to hurt like mad. Thankfully, this place was open and I was able to get it fixed. No more pain.

American Medical Response: what do users think?
T Mendenhall: I’d give negative stars if I could. They charged me $2200 for one mile and harassed me for months while insurance was figuring their part out. I got countless (like every other day) letters from them in a three month time span and a text and email every single day. Literal harassment. I would rather bleed out than take an ambulance ever again, homies just accept your fate and let it be because this place is not worth it
Mark Williams: The hospital lost my shoes and said that they couldn't find them. But the Emt's from American Medical Response found them Under the hospital bed Thank you so much
Jonathan Merritt: Professional individuals doing what they can for an area that is high crime, high drugs, and low income community. They truly do care and advocate for their patients!
Jen Brule: Horrible company. My 19 year old son had no choice in an unnecessary ambulance ride. Turns out, this company was not in our insurance network. Our insurance paid what was customary and now they want the rest. Now there are laws to prevent this from happening but there wasn't last year. Scum of the earth taking advantage of people and over charging.
Adrian Meland: Waiting until 6:30pm for taking my girl friend of 18 yrs from center point hospital independence after being released soon they said that only I have get in wheel chair or they have to take back to centerpoint in a rude manner it was 36f cold given no assistance to help bring in house put bed then left make she signs flat out to ge billed
2 stangs: Medical side seems to be Ok. Billing on the other hand is a totally different story. My wife wasOut of work for 8 months and we made payment arrangements. For starters they have really bad customer service in the phone. They were rude and hung up on us several times. Once we were able to finally get someone who was willing to help us we set up payments. They were to be paid by the 23rd of the month. We paid them on the 20th because it fell in line with pay days. Well we got notice they sent us to collections. It turned out they sent us to collections because we didn’t make payments exactly on the 23rd. We made them a couple days early. So because we paid early they sent us to a collection agency. This companies billing is a totalScam. Avoid AMR at allCostsOr it will cost you more than you know.
Pam Shamp: They are rude and dont accept insurance pymts correctly and then turn it over to collections immediately and refuse to even discuss it.
Amy D: Though the ambulance was quick on scene to my MVA (bc they happened to be driving by as it happened lol)It has been a nightmare dealing with this company. The medics were nice however they started everything going the wrong way. The first several things they had me signing was for the driver of the other car. We ultimately thought we got it all worked out but then realized they ultimately had me as the patient where as in reality it was my 13 year old daughter. Therefore they are now on my credit report for 2 years now as me being the patient with no insurance instead of my daughter who had insurance and would cover it 100%.This ambulance company needs to be gotten rid of and have the ambulance run by the fire dept. Its a shame that you don't get to pick what ambulance company u get to oick from and that this review is worthless due to this problem.
Danie Cooper: During the most frightening times of my life, I had to call for help. It came...slowly and with incompetence. I am fearful for those who have a time sensitive emergency as I am afraid the lack of empathy, skill, and time management will certainly not end well with this company. The guy who was “in charge” was rude and refused to listen to my wife as she explained I was insulin dependent and barely holding on to consciousness. Apparently, he told my wife that I had a drastic drop in blood pressure...but said nothing to the hospital staff where they unceremoniously ordered me to get off the gurney and onto the chair. This scary experience also left me humiliated and feeling helpless.
Denise A: I was in a car accident and was hurt, needed to get treatment at the hospital. They were very kind and made me feel less stressed. I respect and appreciate what these folks do dUly!
Picklejuicetom 34: Great respect from the two paramedics that helped me get safely to the hospital.
Feller Steven: Refused to take me to St Joseph's. First told me they didn't go there. They then told me due to my condition they were taking me to Center point. They then took me on a leisurely drive down 24 Highway, down 291 then 39th street. That was through more than 24 traffic lights during morning rush. If I had truely been critical I would have died enroute.
Gabby S: horrible after the ride. will not answer phone for payment options unless paid in full and charge an insane amount.been calling for 2 weeks and can not make it past the operator to speak to an actual associate.do not take an ambulance! apparently your better off just dying
Anthony Wright: Lifesavers!
Jason Scruggs: Wonderful company. Staffed with professional employees who care.
Michael Foley: Worst company ever totally unprofessional & incompetent if i could give negative stars i would
Joe Wyant: Terrible billing department. To make it short: They transported my son with pneumonia (non-emergency situation recommended by the Dr. at Children's Mercy urgent care in Independence, who originally told me it would be their own transport service that would all be billed through Children's Mercy.. That's a different gripe) to Children's Mercy Hospital. We had a PAST DUE bill for just under $1600.00 from them within 10 days. We then gave them our insurance info which they should have gotten from the get go. They billed it to our insurance showing my wife was the one transported, so the entire bill was applied to HER deductible when it all should have been paid because my son's deductible was already met. After making several calls to Blue Cross and AMR, AMR told me that they were going to resubmit the bill correctly. They never did. They just keep sending past due bills. They flat out lied last time I called them and told me they did resubmit it. I waited 30 days and called our insurance to verify and they never resubmitted it. Poorly ran company that can't even submit a bill correctly. Their employee's lie to get out of a little work. Not a good reflection of what is up the ladder. It's been 4 months and they still have not been able to complete one simple task. pathetic!!
Dawnah Durkee: No medical emergency, just rudeness! At a Quick trip gas station, i was intimidated and bullied by the driver of vehicle #610 for the gas pump. i moved and gave up the pump. He and co-worker talked and enjoyed a cigarette while fueling up vehicle #610. I later asked a QT employee if the ambulance had a particular pump to get fuel from? I was told "no". They could have gotten gas from any pump just as I did.
