Rick Bell: Trail markings are confusing, run labeled at the start but then just marked more difficult at each split with no confirmation that you were still on the original trail you started on.

Tim Reneau: While some of the trail names are pretty crazy, this is absolutely a fantastic park for MTB and hiking alike.The trails are well taken care of and have many different types of features on them. Coupled with the fact that there are many, many miles worth of trails, you could spend a whole day here and then some.

mary diaz: My husband and l hike a lot at Landahl it s just minutes from our house. We enjoy being out in the wilderness. There have been several times that we have been caught out on trails at dusk. I swear that I ve seen a spirit cat in front of me helping me navigate the trail out of the woods. It s adomesticated cat, it s slim and quick. Then he disappears when I reach an opening out the woods heading to my vehicle. I call him Spirit Cat. Has anyone else seen him or her? Or is there any knowledge of such sightings?
Dee Robertson: That was our first time there and we loved it. It was a great challenge for us on thr difficult path. I am fresh from hip replacement & my dad is 78. Even my S/O has Scoliosis and seizures so yeah, we completed just over a mile and fully plan on returning.

Brian L: Went for a quick ride. Chatted with one of the trail volunteers. He was very excited about the trails and opening. Fun 4 mile out and back on Wild Willy and family trail. No water or restroom. Many other trails look fun on trailforks.
Tyler Johnson: I've ridden a lot of mountain bike parks and this is unfortunately the worst. Trails are poorly marked, overgrown and the black trails were so slick we could barely walk on them let alone ride them. There is moss and algae growing all over the trail making for very unsafe riding conditions. I had high hopes but was not impressed.

John Kirk Saddler: I was pleasantly surprised about this trail. it is well kept with some good scenery. it is also possible to park in the lot behind the bar Saints across from QuikTrip. I only went three or four miles but it looks like the whole trail is 15 long. I am always on the lookout for places to go fishing and/or string my hammock up. this trail checks off both of those boxes.

Steve B: Fairly well maintained crushed rock trail that follows along the Little Blue River in the Independence/Blue Springs area. The trail is wide and long enough for bike rides but is just as well suited for long runs or walking the dogs. Lots of different access points to choose from.
Gabby Van Dyke: Enjoy a little bit of nature at this popular local spot for biking and jogging. My kids always like throwing rocks in the river under the bridge at R.D. Mize.

Melanie Edens: There was ample parking and the trail was very well maintained. The path consisted of a crushed rock so it wasn't muddy at all. The path was wide enough for people to pass easily. The grass is also mowed back a few feet on either side which cuts down on the bugs. There are mile markers every .2 miles which help you keep track of where you are. This trail is not a loop so you go back the exact way you came. I saw a few others running, walking, and one riding a bike. It is mostly flat and easy to walk. The wildflowers were in bloom amd beautiful. We saw a deer, a frog, and several beautiful birds. The trail doesnt have many benches to stop and rest on, and there is little to no shade on most of the trail. There was an Ori at the parking lot but no other bathrooms or water sources. I should note the parking lot was around mile marker 8.4.

Teresa Ravenscroft: I always love to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, this amazing walking trail regardless of which section you begin at, is full of friendly bicyclists and other walkers. The views are simply amazing and the sounds are soothing. Finding this trail is one the best finds for the last 2 years. I get out there every chance I get. For the most part it is always extremely clean as people take care of their trash and there are many trash recepticles along the way. I personally always take bags with me to help with litter control along the way, everyone can do their part to help keep this place amazing! The peace and serenity I find walking here is priceless! Love love love love this walking trail!

Karen J. Campbell: I have put a lot of miles on this trail with my bicycle. So peaceful, and a beautiful scenic ride. I never road by myself ....but have always been able to hook up with a friend that enjoys bicycle riding as much as me. I've been on the Katy Trails a number of times too. There are bicycle and walking groups/ clubs you can join; in and around Independence to share the fun with you. It's possible you wil develop friendships with a long time group of friends. It is a healthy way of life.
Sabrina K: Awesome trail that runs about 17 miles along the river. Heavy bike traffic but trail is large enough, everyone was polite and used proper etiquette so never felt unsafe or in the way. Trail is well maintained with a mixture of cement and packed crushed gravel. Great trail heads and locations throughout so can make it the length you want.

God always rewards my run in nature with deer, owls, indigo bunting, great blue heron, brown thrashers, hawks, and or bats on this trail. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! Tonight TWO sets of twin fawns and THREE owls, along with all of the above.❤️

JC Van Deventer: Mostly an excellent family trail with tightly packed pea gravel. For beginners, ride into the headwind first as you don't want that on the 2nd half of your ride. Never overly busy, but also never completely empty.

Amie Veach: We wanted to try out a new trail and the distance on this one made it a top contender. It had some areas that were pleasant but at this March 2022 time we're in I wouldn't recommend visiting it currently.The trail is very compacted down the exception being the trailhead looks like it had a load of big gravel dropped but no attention to spreading it out or keeping off the sidewalk going to the pavilion, the trail itself had many ruts, consistent puddles, multiple 90 degree turns that you can't see beyond to make sure not to run into someone, some of the paved areas needing repair you didn't know until you were already in the dips, the bridges are very narrow and also needing repair.Maybe for a walk it could be okay but the majority of the trail you're in the sun. I'm hopeful the trail can be revived and we can visit again possibly another time perhaps in the fall but Rock Island Trail remains a supreme alternative at this point.

H Smith: Mark Pace truly has a Bicycle Heaven.I bought a TridentTrikes Spike 380 Tadpole style Recumbent from him. He'd custom laced the Enviolo hub on a better than stock wheel. He put an Efneo GTRO Gearbox in for the crankset replacement. With no derailleurs, I have a chain line with single cogs on the front and back. No thrown chains, cross chaining or jammed gears etc, it's all internal gearing.My selection of shifting methods was seen to, ring twist on the Envolio 380 and click buttons on the Efneo. Crank length as I prefer it at 170 mm.All in all, he took the excellent entry level Tadpole and made me a wonderful starter Trike. Even with the customizations, I have quality at a much lower price than some other brands would cost.Three cheers for Pace Bicycle Heaven.

He has the ability to see possibility and improvements were others would say it can't be done. Bruce Farrand: First of all this shop is a fixture in Independence, so is the man behind the counter. I priced a few different bikes today with no pressure at all. Then spent the next hour just talking about vintage BMX and bicycles in general. The selection has everything you could want.

Sarah Carey: Superb shop. The owner had been working on bikes since the 1970s and really knows his business. He fitted my son with his new bike, gave him advice about not loaning it out, always keeping it locked up (even for quick breaks), and how to maintain his bike. Also, there is a year of free adjustments/tune-ups. The service here is fantastic - significantly better than any big box or multi-sport store. Even though the prices may seem high, when my son outgrows this bike, it will have higher resale value since the equipment is the best.
