Cybil Foreman: Three attempts for a decent meal for takeout and three fails. We ordered through Doordash twice because the restaurants own online ordering wasn't working properly and when we called to order they said they were too busy to take orders. I'm aware of the staffing shortages since the pandemic & we have no problem waiting longer. One of the orders was Doordash delivery. On that order we only received 1/2 of our order. 2 of our 5 meals were missing as well as sauces, a dessert and salad. The restaurant placed the blame on the driver for not waiting for another bag but once the bags. Are set in the pickup area to my understanding that signals drivers that ordered are complete. The next visit we did curbside, ordered through Doordash. Not only was the 54th street employee very rude to about my husband not coming inside to pick up our order. We've done curbside pickup for years & had no idea that if we're getting pickup after using a different ordering method we're not entitled to curbside, which makes me question why I had added an 18% tip... on to the food itself. I ordered the baby back ribs which are not cheap at over $20. I don't mind paying that for a small slab of ribs because it's normally falling off the bone and really tasty. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. Though the meat was cooked through to not be a health hazard they were not cooked long enough to serve. The meat was so tough I couldn't even eat it plus the bbq sauce hadn't been on during any of the cooking process (it normally is) so it hadn't carmelized & the flavor nor color deepened at all. It was actually still cool. My baked potato had been sitting for so long it was hard as a rock. Salad was half the normal size. My son is 5 & he's got some food aversions. He gets the kids alfredo pasta. One of the options right on the ordering apps is NO PARMESAN CHEESE ON TOP. It was covered in shredded cheese. His broccoli was partially rotten and complete mush. The meal for 3 of us with tip included was over $80. A lot of money for two of us to be left hungry due to inability to eat the meal. We have been eating there for going on 20 years and it's steadily gone down hill. This past week they've had a kitchen fire and are closed to rebuild. I hope they get some of the kitchen staff trained better while they're dispersed to other locations temporarily. It's less than a mile from our house and used to be a favorite for us.

Alan Leffler: We were down here for a business trip and it was so hard to find good food places to eat. In Scottsdale, Az we have some of the best restaurants available. It was a little bit of a shock when we came to Kansas City and it was almost impossible to find late night restaurants open that were actually good. This place was great! So awesome that we went a few times during our trip! Highly impressed. Out of the 20 places we tired during our trip, this place was number one.

I've been coming to 54 for years(several locations but mostly this one) and last night was legit the best service I've ever had at one.Our server's name was Apollo and they were so kind, attentive and aware. We seriously didn't feel like we were just a tip to them. Like they really just wanted us to have a great experience.Our food was also better than normal. My burger was cooked to PERFECTION. I always order medium wherever I go and never really get medium, usually medium well. This time it was so beautiful. My bfs steak was also perfect and juicy. Our sides were hot and fresh. My drink was delicious.I'm really not sure what they're doing differently up there but it's working. It's always been good but last night was great. Keep it up, y'all

George Michael: First time here on Friday, it was crowded. Lots of tasty food. I wanted some traditional beef, so ordered sirloin, but came out as something slightly different covered with sausage. I wouldn't order this again.

Sarah Borum: My initial review was a little negative. I had a couple bad experiences when visiting, due to attitude problems the young staff seemed to have. I have since then revised my statement. I returned the other day, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I appreciate that they were kind and plan to keep going back, if things stay this way.

David Roberson: What a horrible experience. The app needs to hire a user experience designer so that it's intuitive and never takes your order out the cart regardless of location. Second I ordered at 6pm said it would be ready by 6:21pm I arrived at 6:30 and still nothing. The girl proceeds to make the wrong order and of course I tell her this isn't ours. Mind you the entire reason I used the app was to save time as it's on the way as I'm rushing my daughter to cheer and we're hungry. She says she'll make another one, I tell her no we don't have time I need a refund ASAP. She has to go to the back office telling me I'll get an email regarding my refund which I will haven't received. I don't recommend this location at all take the extra drive to Blue Springs or overland park.

Anissia Declerck: I sent my husband there to get me a smoothie so I could drink my veggies instead of eat them. Ever since I’ve been pregnant it’s been hard for me to eat anything except fruit. I thought they closed at 9 turns out on Sundays they close at 8. We both felt terrible but I really wanted it & he was determined. The guy was happy to take his order through the drive through. I’m not saying go there last minute by any means because obviously that’s rude but it was really nice to hear about good customer service. That rarely happens anymore these days. Wish we had his name because he deserves a raise!!

The manager or whatever handling the shift change looked unprofessional. Very Slow even though no customers inside! Requested foam got plastic. They were prioritizing door dash orders over drive thru customers . Will go to the 39th location from now on even though lessconvenient location.. Never had bad service at that one.

susan stribling: OMG I love this place! I'm a creature of habit and always get the same thing, the Angel Food. It's strawberrys and bananas, turbinado with low fat milk. But once I ordered my drink as a slim. This is when they use Stevia instead of turbindo. (Turbinado is a fancy name for sugar. Although its not processed, its raw. Think brown crystals) The woman at the drive through window told me to taste it and if I didn't like it she would make me something else. She also said the options are endless. I could do no Stevia but only half the sugar or no sugar at all. She also told me in the summer the fruit is naturally sweeter so it could taste sweeter. My recent step out of "the box" is I add raspberries. Add in's are extra ($2) but it can be fruit or supplements like protein powder, collagen, vitamins, prebiotic etc. And alot of times if you add 2 then the 3rd one is free. I usually add raspberries, collagen and protein. Smoothie King is as healthy as you want it to be. Just because they serve it doesn't mean it's totally good for you. Most regular flavor combinations have the turbinado sugar unless notated. The sugar in mine equals that of a soft drink. But I'd rather have it in this fruity cold frosty drink. I look at it as it might have the sugar but it also has the fruit and benefits that I really don't get anywhere else. I also usually get it as a meal replacement. They have a rewards program with a kiosk to scan everytime you buy you get points. And they transfer to money off a purchase. Also the have Styrofoam cups, which is a total game changer for me in the hot and humid summer days of the Midwest. So I advise to give it a try. Actually go in to the store and most are glad to help you find something you like.
