Meredith Linder: I am very disappointed in this restaurant. In January 2023, I called to make reservations for 12 people for my parents 50th wedding anniversary dinner for May 12, 2023 at 6:30 pm. The reservation was taken and we were looking forward to the meal. In April 2023, I spoke with them again to change the time and confirm our reservation for their private room. It was confirmed and again, we were looking forward to the experience. When we arrived on May 12 at 7:20 pm for a 7:30 pm dinner, I was told they had no reservation and the private room was in use. Upon checking a SECOND reservation book, my reservation was found and I was told they had forgotten to "move our reservation to the main book". When I asked to speak with the manager, the hostess told me the manager wouldn't tell me anything different than what she had told me. I still wanted to see the manager. After her arrival she said she would speak to the front of house at their next meeting. That is unacceptable. She then proceeded to tell us she could "piece meal" tables together in the private room with another party. Again, unacceptable. Then she took us to the "owners room" and tried to tell me that the table there would seat 12 people. That room was messy, cold, and up a very narrow, dark staircase. Again, unacceptable. I stepped outside to discuss our options with my family and it was decided we would move our dinner to another establishment. When I went back in to tell the manager we would be accommodated at another restaurant, she had miraculously made it work in the private room. I declined her half hearted attempt and we were able to have a fantastic meal and experience at Nicola's restaurant. I do not recommend Avanzare and I hope they have an overhaul of their front of house staff.

tyler burks: Haven’t been here in a few years. Wife’s food was on point, more than she needed so had some of hers. My pasta was extremely bland and no sauce whatsoever. Will try again just will be a bit.

My plate, the lobster ravioli, didn’t seem like it was made in-house. The beef carpaccio seemed like good quality ingredients but was bland - I would suggest capers. For desert, limoncello sponge cake, I was expecting tartness - but it fell flat. Would I return? Potentially for lunch at a cheaper cost than dinner when that service resumes.

Our first sign should have been the bread that came out that was literally like croutons. We got the eggplant parm for appetizer. They burnt it so they apologized that it would not be out prior to our dinner. We said that was fine. When we did end up getting our eggplant parm it was almost inedible. The eggplant pieces were dehydrated like leather. The rest of our food was just ok. Nothing special and not worth the price.

Bruno, new owner/chef 1, new owner/chef 2) and has been my favorite Italian in Springfield and usually always good! Except last night! My husband and I had 2 different dishes- his with cauliflower that was raw- mine was cold and not the same as the many times I’ve had it before! And what (when) did they start using big plates for the pasta dishes rather than the pasta bowls that keep it warm longer! And when does a restaurant run “ out of coke”???The drinks were great as usual ( good bartender) but the experience as a whole was disappointing!!!! Hope it improves- I hate to give it up!

John Berry: Four of us had dinner there before going to see Hamilton. The special I had picked out prior to arriving was already sold out. Which was odd because we were dining early. The suggestion by the waiter was very disappointing but everyone else enjoyed their meal very much. We will try again. Oh the waiter was super and he did his best to make a selection similar to what I intended to have.

The Whaleys: Great food, fast service and a variety of menu selections. Good wine selections with daily specials. Prices fair for the service and quality of food presented. A favorite to return too.

joanne levy: Have eaten here several times and each time the food and service have been excellent. Tonight was their Valentine's special menu and it did not disappoint. My husband and I each chose different entrees (Steak Diane and Coq au Vin) so that we could try each and different desserts for the same reason (flourless chocolate torte and Pavlova) but the rest of the meal was identical. Both entrees were cooked to perfection with the Steak Diane being our overall favorite. The meals were well planned and the optional wine pairing was well chosen and added to the enjoyment of the meal. Kudos to the kitchen staff and to the servers and all who worked so hard to make this meal and evening a success. I encourage you to visit Bruno's yourself. Reservations are advisable.

Charles Doan: This place is beyond fantastic. Some of the freshest pasta I have had since being in Italy. I do patron a lot of great restaurants in Springfield area and this is by far one of the top ones. The carbonara actually has some of the best texture I’ve had in this area on top of that, They have some really great whiskey selections. There’s no way to go wrong with this place if you’re dining in.

Justin Murphy: To start, I called here shortly after they opened and I was able to make a reservation for dinner without a problem. We were seated quickly once we arrived and the server took care of us. The food we ordered was pretty good and it met our expectations. We were in the restaurant a while, but the server wasn’t overbearing at all, which I really appreciated. He checked in just enough. The atmosphere was a little dark, but it was also a cloudy day, so the glass windows at the front of the restaurant had no sun to let in. This is a good Italian spot downtown if that’s what you’re looking for!

Jonathon Miller: We decided to eat at Nonna's on a whim at 7:30 at night. It was pretty busy when we showed up and where not greeted quickly. After a 15/20 min wait we were seated. Tammi Slagle: I was so disappointed. The bread was old, the tortellini were like the ones you buy at the supermarket in the cold section. The meal was supposed to have broccoli and chicken. There were 2 small broccoli florets and the chicken was deli sliced sandwich chicken pieces. If you're looking for food Italian food, this isn't it!

Allen Marcak: I ordered the meat lovers calzone and not only was it scrumptious, but it was very huge. I only ate half of it, and I have the rest of it for leftovers. 10 out of 10 calzone.

Edwin Reece: We visited because family who lives close recommended it. We enjoyed the pizza and the service was awesome. The side salads were very disappointing. We had the Caesar salad and it was nothing more than a regular salad with Caesar dressing and croutons. Nothing special. We also got the garlic cheese sticks and it was just ok. Maybe more of garlic and butter would have been better. I had the chicken bacon ranch pizza and really enjoyed it. My wife had the deluxe pizza and thought it was just okay. She felt the marinara sauce was a little too sweet. When we're in the area again we will definitely be back.

Blant Money: Took my wife out for a dinner date. I was willing to pay whatever for our date, but the food was overpriced for what we received. The salad was not worth 9 dollars...at most it was worth 5 dollars. Really didn't make me want to brag about my dine in here which is what I look for in nice restaurants. We had a fantastic server and she knew what she was talking about. I don't think I will return. I will say maybe try them out to see if I could be wrong about my experience.

Our party of 12 dined at Nicola's for my parents 50th wedding anniversary dinner after another restaurant (Avanzare) "didn't have our reservation". We called Nicola's and they were able to accommodate us within minutes. The ambience was absolutely wonderful and the food was impeccable. The front of house was kind and immediately seated us in the beautiful, quiet dining room. Katie, our server, went above and beyond to make our experience outstanding. It was better than we could have imagined! Bonnie Guier: food was fabulous, nice atmosphere. Too bad our waitress was too busy running her mouth with the next table and not her feet to do her job, otherwise this would be a 5 star review. Multiple times we were sitting and waiting when she only had 3 tables for things we should not have had to including getting water glasses filled when we first arrived and paying our check which we finally just paid at the bar after watching her yack and yack 2 tables away with a customer. She constantly was at their table and dragging out conversation about personal relationships and high school memories. Our first visit and we were very disappointed with the lack of service which our tip hopefully reflected. My boyfriend was far more generous than I would have opted to be. We will attempt 1 more future visit and hope to have a better server at that time.
