Kelsey Chown: Esther’s work is beautiful, and she’s altogether a very sweet woman; for these good reasons I think she is loved by many clients and others in her field. We have enjoyed several galleries of our family from her over the last couple of years. That being said, I’ve been disappointed regarding her poor communication and lack of ability to balance her personal life and professional career. I often have to email her multiple times (usually a week apart to try to give her ample time to respond) to coordinate sessions and receive galleries past their promised dates, and when I do get a response, its delay is usually due to understandable but nonetheless frequent and personal excuses (babysitter fell through, someone was ill, she took an unannounced personal week off and forgot to let me know, etc). I’ve had photos taken and lost by her before and had to return for them to be retaken, again after waiting for long periods to get a response and then finally asking for a refund. To her credit, she has worked to rectify some of these things after the fact, but it continues to be a recurring pattern and still has become quite a hassle to coordinate sessions and receive subsequent galleries. As her prices have increased but her communication and reliability haven’t, our family has retired from using Esther, though we will miss having her beautiful portraits of our family going forward.
Shelby Lung: We love Esther! We did the baby milestone package and have loved having her document our son from newborn to one year old! Esther has everything you need for an easy session and is so wonderful with littles. We can't thank her enough!

Esther does a great job at posing you so if you are like me and don't know how to pose or are awkward she's the best at guiding you and making you feel confident in your poses. With every photoshoot at Lightbox our clientele grows by at least 25% — that speaks for itself. We have literally had to post LESS of the photos because we can’t handle the influx of client inquiries after posting them on Instagram!Not to mention Hannah and her team at Lightbox are just incredible. They work so hard to design a space that is multifunctional and supports a broad range of photography needs and preferred aesthetics. AND we use the Edison for our team meetings. Erin Nelson: Erin is a 5-star rated photographer for a reason. She is not only incredibly talented with her ability to capture amazing moments beautifully with her camera, she is also most talented working with people in general. Erin has such a calm and engaging personality. She did a wonderful job of helping our family stay in the moment and relaxed enough to just be ourselves throughout the process of being photographed on our wedding day. She even took time to sit with our youngest son and let him show her some of his beloved Polaroids he’s taken of family vacations that he’s so proud of! Erin specifically curated photo opportunities that captured our unique vibe and love - it felt as though we were with a friend all along. I can’t say enough great things about her. We came from out of town to have our wedding in a place where we didn’t know any of our vendors. Erin has a great reputation that precedes her, and came highly recommended by multiple vendors in the wedding industry. I’m so very glad she was available to work with us. In line with so many other reviewers, I very highly recommend booking this talented photographer for your special day! (I hope it’s ok to add this pic I caught of her with our 6 year old looking through his photos he was so excited to share with her!)

Chris Becker: I could go on for way too many paragraphs about how much we enjoyed using Erin for our wedding. I didn't factor in how much time you spend just taking pictures on your wedding day, and having a fun, excited and engaging photographer definitely elevated the mood for everyone involved. We really loved Erin's candid photography; her pictures don't look posed or stuffy. She does a great job capturing raw emotions and honest moments, which is what we wanted.We were both extremely happy with how everything came out. Erin does a good job sticking to her timeline and delivers quality photos that you won't be disapointed with. If you are doing a wedding package, take advantage of the free engagement session. Not only was it a ton of fun and a great oportunity to meet her and her second shooter Dawn, but the pictures from it turned out fantastic as well.
Brooke Gordon: Erin was wonderful to work with for family photos and newborn photos. She is professional, but also very easy going. She is also really easy to communicate with. Erin produces AMAZING photos. I cannot stress this enough. Her editing is top-notch. My son (a toddler) was very uncooperative during both sessions. Erin was so patient with us, never seemed annoyed, and assured me that we got some good photos even though he was being so difficult. Getting photos taken with young children is stressful, and Erin went above and beyond to get good photos of our family while doing her best to make it a pleasant experience for everyone. I highly recommend Erin and will book with her again if she will have my ornery toddler back!

I can't tell you how much I love this team, I highly recommend them!
Dane Wagner: They did my senior pictures in 2011 and my family just got family pictures here a week ago. Both times they have been super attentive and welcoming. Taking pictures that involves me always gives me anxiety, but the owners here make it a welcoming enough environment to put my anxiety at bay for a bit. Top notch quality as well. The final product is always impressive and worth it.

Sean Thompson: We went to do some informal family portraits and Michaela was able to make the session a very enjoyable experience. We have a 3 year old and a 9 month old and she was able to get them to take quite a few good pictures individually as well as a family. She really took the stress out of getting decent pictures and I would come here again for photos.
Terri Vaughn: The photos came in the mail in a flimsy mail envelope that was torn—subsequently the unprotected 10x13 photos were torn in the same place. The post office stamp said it was received damaged. There was no contact phone number in the envelope but the local studio was very helpful at ordering replacements. Waiting to see if these come in good condition.
Jennifer Allred: This review is not about the session itself or the women who were working in the studio. The session and those employees were wonderful and really enjoyed working g with my pups. If this only took them into account, I’d give them 5 stars easily!My problem is with the way prints and products are handled! I went on December 10th to get Christmas cards done. Not knowing that these wouldn’t arrive by Christmas! I bought the digital album, thinking since I bought the rights, I could save and print them in any way I chose. WRONG.The album is purchased on Shutterfly, and you have to buy their products! The only item you can have printed locally is 4x6 prints and NOTHING ELSE.I got an email on 12/17 saying due to outages (I’m assuming tornados caused this) and shipping delays, that they don’t know when my products will be shipped but they will email me to inform me when they do. Yeah, that’s great on December 17th to hear!So here I am at the last minute trying to get a nice picture of myself and two dogs, all because you can’t have full rights to the album that you’ve paid for!I’d say if you want to use them, go WAY BEFORE you need your product because it’s gonna take awhile! And don’t be fooled into thinking that buying the album that you can use them however you want.

Ginni Sawyer: The services good the girl postponed her lunch in order to help us get our pictures taken She did a very lovely job and they were so so cute except for now I've been waiting they allotted 24 to 48 hours and still have not received my digital copies of anything so I have no pictures to show for our session. Hopefully I get them soon while I'm going to start getting frustrated but overall the service was great and the kids pictures were absolutely adorable

Renee Wise: I have had a wonderful experience in the past with a photographer named Laurenwhen we had our first child. This time we went with our two kids who were bashful and uneasy at first. The session ended just as they were smiling and having fun. The sessions are only 15 minutes which I think just wasnt long enough. Many of the shots were dark and shadowed, my kids weren't smiling in many and she didn't spend long trying to get them to smile but again I know we had to keep moving to get through the 15 minutes. I wasnt excited about any of the pictures. They all looked awkward or poorly lit or we weren't centered well. I was very disappointed today. The photographer said she got several good shots of everyone smiling but I disagree..... so did my husband. Please offer longer sessions for families.
tori Baker: I love jc Penny's photo.. and the ladies are always so nice and great with my 3 children . I would say keep an eye on making sure shoes or hands are in photos or you might have disappointment at the end while picking your portraits. If you are like me !
Matt Jacks: Photos usually turn out good and prices are great. Unfortunately the wait is usually long because they are under staffed. I'm not sure how much they pay their employees, but they probably need to pay them more to help with retention. We are currently waiting and they are 30 minutes behind.

Justin Landon: If I could give it less than 1 star I would. They let you schedule an appointment but fail to mention your appointment time is only your preferred check in time and does nothing for you as far as reserving a time. It is still first come first served. Waited 1.5 hrs after our appointment time before we started our pictures. Then were rushed through because they were so far behind. The person running the camera missed multiple shots, had the camera turned off at one point and had to be told by another staff member to take pictures faster. I have 3 children ranging from 18 months to 13 years old. After waiting an hour and a half they were really good sports when it came time to smile but when the person running the camera keeps saying let's do it again it gets old fast. Big disappointment. Dont waste your time. It is well worth the money to go somewhere you can have an appointment and start your session at that time when the kids are ready instead of sitting on the floor and waiting with 20 other people.
D'Arcy Hemsworth: Went to get pictures done. It was the photographer's first day. She was not very good. Didn't capture any of my child's smiles and didn't listen to my request for the pictures. At the desk for picking photos, I got a young guy who seemed as if it was his first day as well. The whole session was unprofessional and not worth the money I ended up wasting.
Ben Bloomer: Rude, unprofessional, no consideration for your time. Even with a Groupon, it's not worth it.
Abby McDiarmid: Went for family photos and our photographer was mediocre at best. Nothing exceptional, which I don't expect at jcpenney portraits. But there was a lack of variety in poses and angles..and for the price I could have hired a private photographer and had way more personal pictures done. She charged us for studio fees which a groupon I had clearly stated was covered. We ordered the full digital album on top of the groupon. While they did offer a refund for the fee we didnt need to pay they told us it would be up to 48 hours to recieve the digital album. 4 days later nothing. Called and was told they are switching to shutterfly and it would take up to 48 hours after our session when told it had been 4 days she didnt have an answer. I decided to wait a few more days, nothing. One week later they tell me call shutterfly ...call them they tell me they cant help and to call the organization who took my pictures...call back they tell me to call customer service because they cant help me...call customer service to be told they arent even open. Call back to the studio to be told no one can speak to me until they're done with sessions. I will edit this if they choose to solve this problem but at this point I'm very disappointed and this is extremely unprofessional.Edit: manager finally called back. Best she can do is resend the digital album (who knows if it will come or not) and print me a cd with images. I've already waited a week for something that was suppose to take up to 48 hrs and now the cd won't come in for another 2 weeks? Next time I want to pay this amount of money I will hire a freelance photographer. While yes she offered to "fix" the issue the wait to fix it is ridiculous.

Silva: Extremely unprofessional, the lady was very rude to me and my 1 YEAR OLD SON because he was crying and didn't want to stand alone for pictures, told me I needed to leave the room because he was too attached to me and then when he kept crying she told me to just take him and go. I've never been spoken to so rudely especially about my son from someone who calls them self a "professional" what a joke. And from the looks of these other reviews I'm not the only one who has been treated badly here. I suggest hiring a new photographer who can handle children because one of these days shes going to be rude to the wrong parent..
