David Tonkin, MD: what do users think?
Levi Paulson: Extremely rude and judgemental. Will cut off your medication cold turkey with no rhyme or reason.
Alicia “Allie” Hublou: Dr. Tonkin is by far one of the worst and most medically abusive doctors I've ever met. He even tries to force his religious beliefs down your throat. If he is told no to a procedure he tells you you're an addict even though I take my pain meds LESS than prescribed. He only cares about lining his own pocket by billing the insurance companies a fortune from doing those procedures.
Mike Busselman: Appt at 1 and not seen til after 230. Rediculous!
Jamie Kimery: As always everyone from the people at the front desk to the nurse to the Drs are very nice and they all listen to you the Drs always listen to your concerns and always address them I really like this place and my pain issue are being taken care of thank you
Pam Handshy: I wa seen by Amanda Gilbert who was both friendly and professional as well as thorough. She was patient in as she took the time to explain things, but more important, she took the time to listen. I left feeling both hopeful as well as valued.
Mariah Martin: I had reviewed Elite Pain Mamagement, the actual name of this place. They changed it to Dr. Tonkin to start over review-wise. I'm baaaack. Terrible, beyond abusive staff that care more about medicine quotas than their patients. DO NOT GO HERE. My friend couldn't get a surgery due to anxiety without his new anti anxiety meds. So what did Elite Pain Management tell her? That she would be weaned from both pain AND anxiety meds. Yeah, completely sane reaction. 5 hour wait time first appt.
Shawn Jeffery: HORRIBLE PLACE. Appointment at 9:45am. End up waiting in the back from 9:45 till almost noon. Lady comes in and asks to count pills I'm not on nor ever was. Drug screen comes back negative and since in there for pain she treats me like IM a drug seeker. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemies. Go to st John's or cox!
Bob Kilgore: !!!Warning To Mercy Patients and Others!!!Worst pain mis-management experience in over 15yrs. Highly invasive, treated like your being processed into the county jail when taking urinalysis. To many different doctors or nurses trying to provide the service without enough background on your history or issues with the pm. They refuse to adjust non-working medications in their "one size fits all" approach to pain management. Previous Mercy employee and will drag you along with no appointments or procedures(18 months before walking out). Recommended procedures very contradictory to the Mercy Neurologist whom he previously worked with. Broke patient/doctor privacy with the Lebanon Pain Management location. Threatens you with the DEA constantly even when you comply 100%. Makes you dump current prescriptions down the toilet into the water supply!!! Go back to the state where you came from Dave-o! Kratom is a better option than this doctor any day!
Austin Michael: If you want compassion and good care I would not recommend David Tonkin.....simply do your research and you will see some of the more respected doctors in the area
Emily Ullrich: The staff is terrific, the atmosphere is unlike any clinic I've ever attended. Most of all, Dr. Tonkin is a caring, compassionate, knowledgeable doctor--a dying breed. I have followed him to two different states, because he's worth it!

Elite Pain Management and Recovery Centers: what do users think?
Bein Broke: The initial charge for my first visit 11/2022 came to $400 insurance covered $45.77 but they charged $217 still A LOT more than I could afford or was expecting. Finally got it paid 6 months later & will contact them to see how much the "nerve block" procedure will cost. Will update.Everyone was very nice & professional, Dr worked with me on pulling up my MRI results from Cox website.Update- they said because it's been 6 months (by DAYS) since my office visit I'll have to come in again to get the procedure. Was able to verify that the follow up office visit will have a $70.00 copay dueThe procedure as stated previously applies to my 2023 deductible & is expected to be $227.95 not doing it because of the risk vs reward statistics from what I've researched.
Pamela Yarbrough: They are liars and lie thru your initial meeting in order to cut you off your medication after 22 years and not caring. They signed my death certificate. Very abusive
William Rice: The staff were very courteous and Dr. Tonkin was very knowledgeable of the Spinal Cord Stimulator! I feel that my quality of life will improve under their care!
Tom Alff: It was awesome the stimulator worked great. I cried when they took it out hopefully they don't take long but another one in. Cause I loved it and I felt that good in a long time. The nurse is great And Laura was fantastic. The stimulator really really work.the fantastic.
Jimmy Westmoreland: They treat you bad. They don't care about people's feelings and there pain. I wouldn't suggest anybody to go there.
Deanna Cook: My first appointment with this place, and I was given another patients paperwork ,when I said this isn't mine the person at front desk said I can't believe the doctor did that. Then I was told they pretty much won't help with pain meds ,they push surgery that I don't want at this time as I don't have a support system, I have to work. I got the feeling that this place is all about the money. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Iwontbegoing back. I've already found another doctor who is helping me to stay working. This place is unprofessional!!
j-bird DeVane: I’ve had a great experience with Elite Pain Management and Dr. Tonkin. They helped me do a Spinal Cord Stimulator trial and then coordinated the procedure with Abbott.
Matt Hudson: Amanda T 👎😡
Max Hembree: Didn’t do anything to stop pain wanted you to have a get off pills and get a nerve blocker in a quick as possible so they could get money from the nerve blocker system
Elizabeth Seufert: This office has improved from past experiences.Shout out and Kudos to the...MA/PA/Nurse? Chris. He was patient, personable, and kind throughout our appointment. The field needs 1,000 more like him. The Doc Amanda was also kind and considerate.Thank you for your service to the community.
Adrienne Adams: BE SURE AND CHECK YOUR INSURANCE CLAIMS THEY HAVE BEEN CHARGING MY MOM 45 $ A VISIT AND THEN BILLING THE INSURANCE FOR 35$ SOUNDS AND LOOKS LIKE INSURANCE FRAUD TOO. DO NOT LET THEM TALK YOU INTO ANY PROCEDURES THEY WILL JUST HAVE YOU WALKING HUNCHED OVER AND BILLING YOUR INSURANCE LIKE CRAZY. WE REFUSED ALL IN HOUSE PROCEDURES AND OPTED FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY THROUGH PRIMARY CARE AND IT'S WORKING GREAT. It's a bunch of LIARS THAT WORK HERE This place is a joke...waited over an hour and a half to be seen. The Drs just have em prompt to meetings for 30 minutes while patients wait in rooms. If I'm ever late I have to reschedule or can't be seen.
E Bowman: More of a controlled dope syndicate with a Greyhound bus terminal lobby. Parking is NOT handicap friendly, and unless it has been upgraded.....no handicap door assist opener. You are degraded and made to feel like a junkie. This is a last resort place if you are looking for help in managing pain.
Veda Ridlon: Money,Money, money they keep you coming back and don't accomplish anything except taking your money.
Tracy Smith: Not sure what is going on there now that Strankmeyer has gone. My Mother whom is 77 yrs old and has had 2 failed back surgeries botched by a surgeon 7 yrs ago, with scoliosis on top of it. Also, 3 different cancers!! A normal visit is about an hour and half.. always behind. It takes us 2 hours to get to this place too. It is usually an all day event for us. The apt this time was normal. Went to the pharmacy the next day to pick up meds ordered. Well they were out of one pain med. I was told by them that they have been out for over a month waiting for meds from suppier. That there was little possibility of it coming in soon. That they had a list of folks waiting for their meds. So I called Elite to see about transferring the order to a pharmacy that has the medicine. Which I had called around and found. Done this before with absolutely no problems. WOW, I was told no. That Elite Pain Management would not put the pressure on another pharmacy to fill the prescription. I guess they are in business to care more about pharmacies than patients. Sounds to me like Dr was just too lazy or stressed or just didn't "want" to cancel the one order and resubmit another to a new pharmacy. When I asked about what happens when my mother goes into withdrawals, I was told to take her to an urgent care and they could help her. What do you think? Hummm
T S: Very confusing and Dr is not professional nor is some of the staff discrimination is. Very apparent they will leave u with the pain u came. In with
Dan Walder: Dr Tolkin and the staff here are AMAZING!!!! Attentive, professional, friendly and communicative!! THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN!!
Karen Griffis: They usually treat me nicely but the lady I seen today was very rude, I missed my appointment last Friday because my vehicle broke down and I tried and tried calling them to reschedule and was unable to get an answer sorry I don’t have a brand new vehicle. Learn to answer the phones . I get treated like that again I will not return
Grosche Transport: The incredible shrinking business!
Bill T: These people will be late for their own funeral. Expect to wait about an hour past your appointment time to be seen.
Judy Anderson: They lie, don't give you the right information. They tell you that you will have a procedure done, then when you call to confirm the appointment there is no procedure scheduled after I took off work to recover. Won't go back.
LeAnn Mesmer Studley: I will only give them one star for how clean the office is.Other then that I strongly do not recommend this office for pain management. In my case I was warned not to go to them. But my pc refered me anyways after my pain clinic closed. I explained to elite that I have a surgeon for my neck I just need to get the green light due to my medical issues. They tried to force a procedure on me by with holding my meds if I didn't do it. When the procedure did not work. They kicked me out of the program and told me to find another pain clinic.1. My mri showed them that I needed neck sugar not the nurves killed. .2. I was not put under or even had time for the volume to take effect before the procedure. It hurt like he'll. The tech was rude and told me to stop screaming.3. I am on oxygen my o2 drops when I am on my stomach. They didn't care. They told me to deal with it. To turn up my o2 if I felt light headed. That's not how that works.4. When I was still hurting the next day and the doctor did his follow up. He said. Their is nothing they can do they are releasing me. To find an alternate pain release.I don't know about you. But I would strongly insist if you get refered here to please talk to another pain management clinic. Go to Branson if you have to. Just don't go their.

CoxHealth: what do users think?
Ashlee winslow: This place is terrible I wish I could give them 0 stars. They turned my Gma away after making her not eat for over 20 hours no medicine and it’s their own fault because they misplaced her paperwork from her other doctor and then lied to our faces about it. This is NOT OK! And not to mention this is the 2nd time in a row it’s happened to her, not her fault all theirs wasting everyone’s time.
Tina Parsley: I have not had a bad experience with Cox Health. Everyone has been friendly and polite. My experience here has been wonderful so far.
Jane Squires: When ice came in followed by snow, I called day before my appointment and rescheduled. Then today I get called and asked to see patient assistant instead of doctor. My first visit and doctor is who I should talk to first. I had all my records transferred there. For what? I needed appointment bad but first had to wait two months. Then weather won't let me out. Then im not important enough as someone else more important. So I cancelled. I won't be going to Cox for help. They don't care about me.
Don Bloom: Good staff, the doctor has absolutely no bedside manners at all. He treats women worse than second class citizens. He needs to go back to India.
Mr Green: Cox Health is a great medical facility. They will help all patients. Very warm and kind. I have been going here for many years. God bless you!
Rick Kellner: Great Doctors and staff have no problems at all
K Banks: This doctor needs to go somewhere! Dr Pulikal would not listen to what others doctors have found and said, he thought he knew it all. Him and his staff are very unprofessional. I have been in pain for several years and have had test to prove what is causing this pain. Several broken bones and arthritis. The only over the counter pain medicine I can take is tylenol. So, what does he prescribe? Some type of compound cream that only made by one pharmacy ( I am sure they are in cahoots with). And this pharmacy does not accept insurance, so you know the medication is expensive. I was at his office sitting for four hours and when I got to the pharmacy he had not faxed the order over, so they called him. They were supposed to have it ready in 30 minutes, two hours later I still did not have my prescription so they were going to mail it to me, but that would be an extra charge. A week later I got my cream in the mail. Not even enough in there to last two weeks and it does not work. I was not surprised. Dr. Pulikal said upfront he did not care how many patients he seen because he got paid salary and got the same amount of money if he only seen one patient, Cox should want to see more patients because that brings them in more money. All I see is this doctor causing them to lose money. But what really upsets me is that they did a urine drug test and like most people at their jobs, they don't do them and they don't do them correct. I got a letter from them the day before my next appointment stating I had to make a appointment with their behavioral therapist 5 days prior to my appointment. How do you do that when you get a letter one day before? I would not have went anyways because they messed up and did not have the decency to call and talk to me about it. I was so upset and called them three times and got no response from them. On the fourth call, they put me in touch with somebody named Kat. Kat assured me she would look into it and call me back on Monday. Guess what? It is Wednesday and I have not heard a word. For (1) Their allegations are preposterous and they are running a bogus operation at this clinic. I think Cox should be looking into this heavily and I believe they need to clean house Starting with Dr. Aditya Pulikal and the Pussy Kat. I am owed a explanation as to why this clinic is so incompetent and hiring people that know nothing about tests, and I am owed an apology. I will continue to let people know all about this clinic until this is resolved. I would not recommend this clinic to my worst enemy. It has a lot of improving to do before I would.
Dona Oldham: I've been going to this clinic since my primary care provider left the cox system and turned me over to an associate in her former clinic. In this time frame, approximately 1 year, the physician has changed 3 times. The original dr immediately changed my meds from what my primary care dr was prescribing me. He did so stating that the new medication was stronger, lasts longer, and would provide me the greatest amount of relief. I began telling them immediately that the medication wasn't working, to no avail. Dr Tabor is the current physician in charge, I've seen her 1 time I've been forced to see her Nurse Practitioner Allen Ocampo. I've told him repeatedly that the medication isn't working to no avail. I quit taking the medication 3 months ago because I was having trouble with my insurance company and they wouldn't see me until the problem was fixed, I can tell you for certain the medication they were prescribing was either a placebo or a bad joke because I'm in the same amount of pain untreated as I was on their medication!!! I have since been able to get my Insurance issue handled and I've scheduled yet another appointment I'll let you know how it goes.
