John Twitty Energy Center: what do users think?
Micheal Schmied: What a wonderful time we always have getting to do the fire inspection here. We get to see the entire facility above and below ground. CU has a wonderful team and wonderful facilities!
Frederick “Jay” Johnson: Coal fired Power Plant. Ask for a tour.
Charles Daly: Great people to work with!
BNSF 9206: It’s awesome, especially the BNSF coal trains that serve the plant. I hope that they do not stop using coal anytime soon. Switching to natural gas will cause the coal workers to lose their jobs so we definitely do not want that!
Johnny Footballhero: I love how these locals complain about this place but use the power it provides every day 😂 hypocrites 😂
Johnson: The tour here was awesome! It's really good to see the perspectives of people that work for City Utilities because they get a bad rep for supporting the pollution of our environment.
Christin Bloor: The sooner we end our use of coal, the better.
Leslie Head: THE SMELL IS TERRIBLE I WANNA GAG EVERYDAY WHEN DRIVE BY 😣 i wouldn't be surprised is someone wrecks bc they threw up on themselfs
Cody Armstrong: Great power!!! Couldn't get better. Why again does Google have review options for a coal power plant???

City Utilities of Springfield: what do users think?
Itz John: People in there need to to take a course in customer service lol.
Heidi Maddox: Never had any issues in the last year, have had a few outages but they were resolved in under 3 hours, this morning a prime example power went out at 6:30 heard a loud boom, an hour later our power was restored. We are originally from Michigan where we have consumers energy for electric I can honestly say city utilities are a million times better
Michael Miller: Kelsie is the rudest and most difficult person I have ever worked with. Not sure how she still has a job there.
Josh Griffes: City utilities is a scam, they just added $400 to my account and shut my electric off and i didnt even do anything
Andrew Brown: Beware of these CROOKS! Me and my fiance recently sold our house, and move up KC. We notified CU that we're selling our house, and would be out on the 5th. For some reason, the new owners had not put the utilities in there names yet, so they shut off the power on the morning of the 5th while we were still moving the last bit of our stuff out. We called them, asking why the utilities were shut off and that they should still be on, but in the new owners name. They said the new owners had not yet put it in there names, but they would notate the account with that info, and would turn it back on. What they didn't tell us, was that they were going to charge us a $15 reconnect fee, and continue to charge us till the 8th, even though we fully sold the house on the 5th. Fast forward to now, and we receive a crazy high utility bill. Call and inquire, talked to a supervisor, and there were all extremely rude, and could care less that they charged us for power on days we didn't use, never the less, actually owned the home for. We have always paid our utility bill on time, and have never had any issues. But these people have absolutely no humanity! Plus, the new owners put the utilities in there name the day of the 5th. So there charging two families for the same 3 days of power. I can't explain how much I loathe this utility company, and would never recommend them to anyone!!
CHRISTOPHER SAPIEN: Terrible place, terrible customer service, terrible employees, terrible policies. Flat out joke. It’s a building full of money hungry nazi’s.Hopefully one day these people get what’s coming to them 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤞🏻
Gina Bogart: Pathetic company that is not for the people. Transformer blew and I was out of electricity and had to leave my place of work which happens to be my home and they will not give a discount for the time and money lost.
Johnny Cain: The card I had on autopay was lost and reordered through my card company. So when my autopay didn’t go through with CU (first time ever), they didn’t bother reaching out to me before charging me a $40 junk fee. This is what happens when there’s no other option for service. Monopoly companies are allowed to charge whatever junk fee they want. Even if it’s as much as 20% of your whole bill. This is greedy and bad management.Update: the day after leaving this review I got a voicemail saying that they were crediting the $40 late fee since I had perfect pay history. I’m glad they read their reviews but I wonder how many people get stuck with these junk fees from a company that people have no choice but to use. And the fees don’t make sense. It’s $25 for missing the payment then $15 for being late. That’s the same fee with a different name. And they don’t even have any reason to charge it. It’s not like they lost $40 for me being a few days late. It’s seriously an abuse on lower income people. What if I wasn’t in a position to easily cover that fee? The worst part is, a review is the most anyone can do about it. You have zero other choices except to go without utilities somehow.
Brinkamania: Extra fees charged for no reason
Jaime Chavez: THIS IS HOW HOUSES BLOW UP.City workers left our gas valve open for 8 days, we could smell the gas as we walked through the front door. When someone finally came to fix it, they confirmed the leak. When we called CU to adjust the bill for the mistake they made, they offered a 20 cent rebate - (I thought this was a joke, but no they were serious)When the bill came, there was no rebate. Even for a mere 20 cents. Not even worth the call to get it fixed over 20 cents.
carmen kuehle: Everyone I have ever dealt with at City Utilities is absolutely as nice as can be, every single time. Thank u so very much! Greatly appreciated!
Maria Viether: Always helpful and compassionate. Willing to work with you if you get behind. Cares enough to let you know if something could be wrong at your home. I love city utilities.
Dallas Jacobson: Prices are outrageous for no reason.
Caleb Sappington: Poor service and will not get power back on quickly.
Nathan Doeden: Appearantly stealing from a veterans organization is something this company loves to do. Horrible human being run it. You should all be ashamed.
Keith Ward: Set up a payment arrangement. I paid ahead of time to the arrangement because my work during the winter fluctuates. Skipped one week of payment since I was ahead of arrangement. Hit me with late fees and shut off notice.
Kenny Bishop: They don't even deserve a star this company is a bunch of crooks you miss a payment and they are quick to turn you off in the winter and they don't care about the well being of anyone all they want to do is collect money keep their pockets full they ownhalf the city and they are a monopoly. So they can charge you ridiculous rates and the customer service representatives are very nasty and rude I wish the government will investigate them and expose them for who they are ally are.Not to mention my dad is elderly needs oxygen and they shut us off today but we got it back on right away. They don't care about anything but the almighty dollar Money and greed.Springfield needs a better utility company.
Asanta Turner: City utilities are a rip off and have no remorse for people. My daughter is oxygen dependent for a few weeks due to her surgery. I got a shut off notice Friday afternoon, I called city utilities as soon as they opened in regards to giving me till Wednesday to pay the bill. They told me they couldn’t help me. That it was already scheduled. I don’t have family here where am I suppose to put my daughter while she is on oxygen. The temperature drops to freezing at night. I don’t know what to do. Who to ask for help. All I needed was till Wednesday. They are horrible providers. And don’t care about the public or my daughter life. I hate these people
Darin Ingold: Can the reviews not speak loud enough
Callie McNeil: My usage is usually only around 70 dollars a month but I missed a payment about a year ago and have never been able to get my bill under 485 dollars. I pay about 360 dollars a MONTH and have never been able to catch up. The fees are ridiculous and no one ever can actually tell me what “fees” I’m paying for. An absolute SCAM. It’s infuriating that there’s nothing anyone can do because this is the only company you can go through.
Taylor Savage: Con artists and heartless people work here. Explain to me why my bill for the month is now 700$ when ive been running heat and its managed to stay at 250. I kee my thermostat on 71. Money hungry, wanting to shut peoples utilities off any chance they get whether they have kids and or are disabled. Come beating on peoples doors in the morning for no reason other than to drop off a notice that should have been mailed a week ago. On top of that, what happened the the Cold weather law in missouri, you guys should probably read that because you shouldnt be allowed to shut off peoples utilities when its going to get freezing cold outside. I wish this place would burn down. Crooks
