Van Gogh's Eeterie: what do users think?
Paige Lee: We used to go here all the time, but after our last visit, I don’t think we will be back.I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu that was like a sampler. Nothing was said to me when I ordered it. When the food came out, it was missing 2 of the 5 items. When I asked about it they told me there were out of the other two items. I asked if the price would be adjusted and was told I just received extra of the 3 things I got, even though I didn’t. When I pulled up the menu because they wouldn’t bring one so I could show them, the manager was very hateful and said in a nasty tone “well what do you want me to do about it?” At this point I have been trying to talk to them about it for 20 minutes and my food was completely cold. The manager spent the entire time trying to gaslight me when I had the menu pulled up on my phone.By the time we got it resolved so that I wasn’t paying for food I didn’t get, everyone else was done eating, so I left my own birthday dinner without even eating. This was far from the only problem we experienced. Our waiter just kept disappearing and not getting drinks or bringing out our food when it was ready so all 6 meals we got were cold and they completely disregarded what we told them when we notified them that someone had an allergy so they had an allergic reaction. We had eaten here many times and never had a problem with accommodating this particular allergy.Vegetarian options: It is apparently not a big deal if meat products end up in a vegan dish, that is listed as vegan and they will still charge for a dish that can’t be eaten.Dietary restrictions: Disregarded allergies they were told about multiple times in person and on the reservation.
Sara Slayton: My sister and I tried to go there a few days ago for her birthday dinner. We were one of three groups in the restaurant and they sat us at the only table sitting directly in the sun. There were tables on either side of us, so we got up and moved to the table that was right next to ours. The server was right behind us, and we mentioned that the sun was in our eyes, and he seemed fine with us moving. He gave us waters and said the server would be right with us.We sat for close to 30 minutes with no service. Servers kept passing us, making eye contact, and continuing to walk by. I completely understand that we should have asked to move before doing so. However, to be refused service because of something so miniscule is despicable.

Hollie Scoma: It's a little loud but beautifully decorated with dutch decor. Service was amazing. We had Vincent and he was so kind and helpful. Dom: I got the vegan India pancake (curry themed). So I will give you credit for the curry taste, but it needed more of a kick. Look up Blue Mountain Jamaican curry as a reference.I was impressed with the pancake and serving size.Yes, they have vegan options. Just tell the waiter you’re vegan.5/5 for cleanliness. The waiter was good.
Chris Yunick: Interesting menu. There were 17 of us, but Vincent, the waiter, patiently answered all their questions and delivered the correct meals. Kinda quirky menu, but lovely presentation.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

Sonya Trantham: We made a reservation for 930am. We got there on time and was seated. 11 minutes later our waiter came to the table. By then we ordered our drinks and food because we had plenty of time to look at the menu. We got our drinks 15 minutes later. At 10:45 we finally got are food. The food was cold and not edible. It had to have sat in the window for at least 15 minutes before he brought it to us. We asked for a manager, 10 minutes later we explained what happened. We paid for our drinks and left. We will never go back.
Debra Neighbors: Breakfast here was delicious! Love the atmosphere!

James Blankenship: There is a lot of hype and a very long wait time whenever you visit this place. Regularly have to wait over an hour for a table.Short Summary: You'll get more food, better food, and better service at a much cheaper price at most diners than at Aviary.Something positive I suppose is the aesthetics of this place. It's very trendy both in the decor and in the way the food is plated, but that's about as far as it goes. After a long wait we were seated and it quickly became clear that The Aviary is well named, it is so loud in there everyone is shouting to be heard. You have to speak quite loudly to hear the person sitting right next to you. I noticed that even though our party of 3 had to wait an hour to be seated that when we sat, there were tables scattered throughout that were empty. That made no sense. Our waitress arrived and had to ask multiple times for us to repeat our coffee orders because she couldn't hear us.My friend ordered a latte which was delivered and she said it was basically flavored milk, no coffee taste at all. My cappuccino was good, but I asked for chocolate and it was merely at the bottom of my glas.ans required I stir it myself. We ordered food, my wife ordered the poutine at which point the waitress asked how she wanted the eggs cooked, asked her what side she wanted, she wanted the fruit bowl. Then when our food was brought the waitress didn't bring the poutine, just a bowl of fruit and said she didn't hear us order the poutine. She said she would order the poutine right away and ran off. We didn't see her again for 25 minutes. Me and my friend had finished our food which looked like a fine dining experience, but mine was cold when they brought it, the cheese was not melted at all. The plate was ice cold. I ordered the steak and egg crepe. There were only 2 bites of steak in the entire thing and as for flavor, very bland. When the waitress brought our check she said she gave us half of the poutine, but they charged us for the side of fruit so it came out to be only $3 discount on a $50 order that was wrong, partially 30 minutes late, cold, and the poutine was a pile of fries with scrambled eggs and pork sausage. Her cheese wasn't melted either and there was zero gravy. Not really poutine.I would have complained to management, but hadn't seen the waitress for another 15 minutes and couldn't wait all day for her to come back.In the end, not worth the hype, the wait, or the price.

Bein Broke: Way too booshy for me! Waited an hour (told 45ish min) then went to check on situation & after about 10 min seated @ bar with tables open the whole time then paid $15 for omelet with barely any sausage (burnt) or cheese sprinkled on it .... no thanks.

Nikki: Food was excellent, service was excellent. This review is not a reflection of the food or the staff. While my family and I were dining, we witnessed two ladies being extremely rude to the kitchen staff. They were loud enough that we could hear them from across the room. When I asked my server, they informed me that the two ladies were the owners. As someone who has worked in food service for YEARS, I’ve never seen owners speak to their staff that way PUBLICLY. Their staff is wonderful and deserves better.

I have had Shrimp and grits which was better than the southern dish I had in savanna, Georgia. I've also had several breakfast items to include crepes and avacado toast. I've always enjoyed the food and service. Very nice atmosphere. I've learned Sundays are very busy! I highly recommend the Aviary!

Progress: what do users think?
Carissa Purdy: Consistently rude front end staff. First time we went it was oddly empty and both wait and host staff created an awkward and unwelcome atmosphere. Assuming one bad experience would be atypical, we tried again only to experience rude front end staff again. Not worth our time and the frustration. It is in poor taste to treat guests like they are nuisances.
Keith&Kelly Clark: We are so in awe. And so disappointed that Progress is closing the doors on June 30. Be sure to get there before then!!!! The fennel salad was this crazy delicious blend of fennel, orange and dried salty olives. The leeks were topped with a salty pepita mix that was out of this world. The steak melted in our mouths and the gnocchi bolognese was so flavorful! To be balanced I have to say that the gnocchis were not the fluffy little pillows I had in Italy. But the dish was still so yummy! Just cannot sat enough good things about this food. And our server, Grace, was so knowledgeable and attentive. The Cab Sauvignon and CA red blend were both delightful. Do it quick! Before it is only a legend.
Autumn Sharp: Exceptional food, service, and experience
L T: My family brought me to progress for Mothers Day. It was hopping, and we were glad we had reservations as they cut off any further customers at 12 due to the volume. We were very disappointed to find out that they were out of half the menu. Leaving only one app option and the main courses we wanted were also unavailable. That wasn't the biggest issue, however. During our meals , we were treated to the most ridiculously inappropriate and explicit playlist playing loudly for everyone to hear. Most families were there with their children. Young and old and got to listen to Doja Cats "kiss me more".Super cool listening to her sing about wanting to"F@#k" something with your kids. There were several songs like this. When brought attention to the fact that there were families with young children, the staff said they didn't control the music. It was apparent that more than a few people were like "WTH is playing".I think coupled with the lack of items available, this has to be considered a less than average experience.Vegetarian options: Avocado toast
Bree: I really like Progress and have always had a nice experience here. However, today we walked in for breakfast and were told there was no more seating for walk ins or Reservations due to it being Mothers Day weekend. This is fine and understandable. But the hostess was very rude when telling us this and I felt like she had a "sorry, not sorry" attitude. Very disappointed with this interaction. Even my 13 year old son picked up on the negative vibe we received.
Randy Henderson: Called a week in advance to get a reservation for Mothers Day brunch. Calls go to voicemail. So left a voicemail explaining what we wanted, and also emailed the supplied address.Having not heard Monday, I tried again. Tuesday I tried again. Wednesday I made a special trip to the restaurant, only to be told they were full. I told them of my attempts to contact them, their answer was "Not sure what happened. Sorry."Maybe its good food, but it sure is poorly organized.
Michael Jones: Hands down the best dining experience in Springfield, without question.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
TacoTuesday MeatLoaf: The atmosphere and drinks were amazing! And there "dinner burger" is outstanding!! However, their octopus was HORRIBLY fishy tasting and just not good at all. Don't get me wrong, I love octopus! But I ate it on the west coast! Don't expect sea food in the middle of the USA to be good, cuz it never will be lol
Anna Y: Loved it! ☆☆☆☆☆Food, atmosphere, and service are outstanding. Love that it is locally grown! Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Ally: I ordered the taste of progress and being a foodie thought I would love it all. Sadly I only enjoyed the biscuits.. the salads were weird and I can't say any of it was good. The octopus was covered in a black sauce that was just gross. I would go back to try other things but so far what I tried was not worth the 130 dollars in any way.
Jacob Funke: Love this place for brunch! Spicy blood Mary is a must! As are the donut holes. My entree was the Brunchwrap Supreme that was truly outstanding. Great services as well.
Josh Garrett: Had the Taste of Progress tasting menu. After reading every dish's description, I thought, I'm not gonna love that. I was pleasantly surprised every time. Super creative and delicious throughout. Service was awesome. This place is now one of my favorites in Springfield.
Roxanna Fultz: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Brunch Bowl, Biscuits and GravyMore
Max Grimes: Had an absolutely stunning meal here for an anniversary. Our server Hope was very knowledgeable about the menu, knew exactly how to pair drinks with our food, and was incredibly pleasant the entire evening. We had the butternut squash per Hope’s recommendation and it was fantastic, you won’t find another dish like it you simply MUST go in to try it. The steak tartare was our other appetizer and it made the tartare I had from flame the other week look drab by comparison. Our mains (chicken and pork) were among the best either of us have had in recent memory, and they were paired excellently with a Spanish white wine (thanks again hope for the rec). All in all, one of my favorite meals I have ever had experienced, and certainly the best dining experience I have had in the SGF area. If you only have one night out in Springfield, make sure it’s at progress.Vegetarian options: They have an entire section of the menu dedicated to vegetables. Vegetarians will be in heaven.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramps from the parking lot to the front entrance and a flat floor plan made the restaurant very wheelchair accessible.
dreamsava: Pure delicious art. The best cauliflower dish I’ve ever had. Food bliss ❤️🧚
Niki Driggers: The menu is seasonal so if you want to try something specific from the current menu go sooner rather than later. The food is absolutely amazing. I had a salad as an appetizer that was all new ingredients to me and I loved every part of it.If you like to explore foods Progress is definitely a place to go.Vegetarian options: They do have vegetarian options. Most are salads but they do have a Main that is also vegetarian.
G Fleck: Outstanding as usual. Hope knew all but one menu selection with great detail. She provided expert suggestions as we wanted to share and enjoy multiple items. Brought two out of town newbies here. All were absolutely delighted with the experience.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Thomas Hunt: Springfield's finest dining experience! Eat the carrots, then eat some other stuff! Everything is great!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Nicolas Wilson: Arrived and was greeted by friendly hosts. The restaurant had a decent ambience to it. Our server was nice and did a good job. Ordered the Naan appetizer, a couple drinks, and the prime dry-aged steak. The Naan was okay. The drink was really good. The steak me and my girlfriend ordered medium rare. The food took quite awhile to Arrive with a slightly odd and unique side of broccoli and a sauce pairing. Both of our steaks were cooked well done. We let the server know and she had it redone in the kitchen. Ended up waiting another 30 or so minutes. The steak was what I'd expect an average 25 dollar steak to taste like but this was over twice as much at 52 dollars. I don't dislike the people or the food, but the pricing is too high for what you get here. There are not many options to select from for entrees or starters. I spent 152 for me and my girlfriend before tip. There are simply much better options in Springfield to spend your money at that doesn't feel like an incomplete experience.
Bryan Haile (Ouroboros0): One of the better dining experiences I’ve had in Springfield.

Char Steakhouse and Oyster Bar: what do users think?
water bug: Meh.$297.00 for two. I dunno what happened..A Wednesday?? Cold steak. Where was the potato?? Waiter very mediorcre. Good and fresh oysters not properly shucked- not separated from shell.. Steak arrived...cooled and waiting before hitting table. Finally served cold. Baked potatos didnt arrive for another 10 minutes and also cold--could not melt butter. Not sure what happened. No appology and not the only table. Cocktails reasonable but not enough to make up for dinner.
Robert Bennett: This was the first time we had ever been to Char Steakhouse, and it was absolutely awesome. It was my wife and I anniversary. We didn't even notice that there was a delay with our order, it took them a little longer than expected to bring us our food. It didn't even bother us because we were enjoying each other's company. The manager came out and apologized, and our waitress was awesome as well. Thank you all for an amazing meal.
Bob Admire: Food was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the wait staff was very attentive. My only complaints are with the presentation. For the price, I would like to see more than just a steak slapped onto a plate. Also, the table I was seated at had seating for four, but the way the legs on the table were arranged made it impossible to sit close to the table.

Dwaine Goodwin: Once again the finest Springfield has to offer. Our fourth time at Char and it was as stupendous as the previous visits. Our waiter, Brent, is one of the finest that we have had over the many years and locations in which we have dined. Char is on equal footing with some of the finest restaurants and that cover over 50 years of travel from west coast to east coast during our working career. Congratulations to Char on their selection of Brent to their wait staff. Thank You once again!

Steve Livingston: First time visiting Char, my wife and I were hungry for a bite. It was the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday so we didn't expect much in the way of service or food. We were greeted immediately at the door even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. With smiles the hostess escorted us to the patio where we enjoyed a plate of BBQ nachos and oysters with and excellent old fashion. The setting was pleasant, the food was great and our waitress was very attentive.

Tonight we enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates, salads, French onion soup, the steak nachos, hamburger, the steak sandwich, and shrimp cocktail. The service was fantastic. Reece did an excellent job. Chef came to check on us, which is very nice. All the food tasted great and came out quickly. We’ll definitely be back!
Steven Sparks: Our server Reece was fantastic. They allowed us to order My wwwwifffeee (think borat voice) and I ordered a burger and steak sandwich. Which a man named Hunter apparently was gracious enough to cut in half. The head Chef came out and told us he would make us a vegetarian pasta that wasn’t on the menu. Everything was fantastic. The food was great, the presentation was 10/10 (which growing up poor and hungry food is food to me the way it looks is of little consequence to me). It was my first time eating m
