Tite-Seal Basement Waterproofing Co: what do users think?
Melissa Drewry: Just moved back to the area and had Seal-Tite do the complete renovation of our foundation and lift the front of our house, which had started to sink over the years. The workers were on time every day and professional. They did quality work which has totally transformed our basement. They answered any questions we had and were very knowledgeable about the process. It was pretty amazing watching them lift up the house on the jacks. We are super happy we chose them to be part of the renovation of our old house. Thank you!Services:Basement remodeling,Waterproofing
Phillip Drewry: We brought and older home. I found some fondation issues. I called Jan at Seal-Tite he came out. He was right on time very professional. He gave us a free estimate and time frame when work could be done. We expected the terms the work was completed on time by Mike and his crew and they even cleaned up. You don't see that much these days. I will definitely use them again and I will request for Mike and his crew.Service:Basement remodeling
Tom Lubnow: Seal-Tite installed their system as promised. Very knowledgeable and professional, communicated very well and met all of our expectations.TSLBlacksburgService:Waterproofing
Angie Ordonez: They have done two jobs for me and I appreciate their expertise.
Aaron Carroll: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Value
Logan Stafford: As of July 2017: We got our quote back in April. Job was scheduled for July. The contractor that quoted us was extremely nice, and informative. No complaints there. He quoted us a price on getting our interior basement waterproofed, which would include using our existing french drain, no sump pump. About a month later, the same contractor gives me a call saying that they can't guarantee the french drain according to his supervisor. So, I asked, can we include the sump pump at no additional charge? The answer to that was, yes. Five days before the scheduled job, which was scheduled 3 months in advance, I received a call saying that we are going to have to reschedule to a later day. Little inconvenient after planning my off days, 3 months in advance, to be at the home while they performed the job. The job is pushed back 2 weeks. The crew arrives on 7/17/17. Nobody greeted me, nobody came to the door, so I just walked down to the basement. Their first words were "How you get in this place?" Maybe I am nitpicking, but I work for a company who puts customer service at a top priority. Definitely did not get that. I then tell the main guy, older gentleman, the contractor told me over the phone that he was going to give us an option for a sump pump at no additional charge. He responds with "He didn't say anything about no sump pump". At this point, i am only left with one option. I ask the main worker, so will this be covered under your "lifetime warranty" he tells me yes. Just a very rude first impression from him. After the crew finished & left on 7//19/17, I notice later that day that the concrete was very sloppy. Had wet concrete splattered on the walls, uneven in a couple different locations. Not bad enough for me to want to file a complaint, but from a professional company I expected better. Giving my experience a 2 overall. As long as the water issue is fixed, I would consider giving it a 3. The only good experience out of the whole deal was with the contractor that gave us the quote.
Nick Caruso: Positive:ProfessionalismWe had interior basement draining system and sump pump installed. The work was completely in a timely fashion and the workers were professional and courteous during the install. We have had a couple minor issues pop up and they have been quick to respond and have someone come out and fix them.
Robert Lawson: Great communication throughout the process and the work was excellent!
David Watt: Seal-Tite came and sealed all four walls of my basement and installed a new sump-pump with battery backup which is quiet and efficient. The job was done in the late spring and I have experienced several storms with power loss and both times, the battery backup worked as advertised.. After enduring several years of a flooding basement and the odor and inconvenience of getting everything up off the floor, I now smile every time I go down those stairs in the middle of a rain storm. I am starting the project of finishing my basement and increasing the finished square footage in my home, which is what prompted me to write this review. I realized that none of this would have been remotely possible before contracting with Seal-Tite. I could not be happier with the quality of work and the professionalism of the staff. They did an excellent job and worked efficiently. I highly recommend their serviceService:Waterproofing
Debbie Cofer: I do not recommend Seal-Tite in Troutville, VA. I was told before hiring them they would do a great job & clean up area so well I would not know they had even been here. That is the complete opposite!!! I have attached pictures for reference of what my finished basement & cedar closet looked like after they were done. The estimator that came told me they would hang plastic cloth to protect all of my things from dust & damage. My family & I spent 48+ hours cleaning up from the mess they left behind. When I called seal-tite about the mess, I was told someone could come out in a couple weeks to look at it. Who the he** would leave their house a mess like this for a week waiting on someone to maybe show up!?!They tore up the cedar wall in my closet, scuffed up paneling & left a mess everywhere.Service:Waterproofing
Jon Colley: Critical:ProfessionalismJan the estimated incorrectly and I decided to go with JES. I’m so glad I did
A. Saintango: Contracted Seal-Tite to level, insulate walls, and encapsulate my crawlspace in Pulaski. From start to finish communication was spot on, workers arrived on time according to schedule, had all required materials, and work ethic of company employees was impeccable. They ran into some concerns being a 70 year old home, but the team lead Josh reached out to his leadership and got advice, developed a plan, and made it happen. Throughout the week long project, I continuously reminded both Josh and Chris who were the regular employees on the job how much their work ethic is appreciated. This day and age help is tough to find let alone people who want to work in such difficult environments, as such I hope the company notices and rewards such dedication. The day labor that was brought in to assist the regular employees wasn't the best, but that much can be expected from such people. Josh handled the "train on the job" aspect as well as the coordination between company and job site better than many leaders I've seen in years. Every morning there was a "hello" and hand shake, very respectable impressions which does matter. The crawlspace and property were cleaned and buttoned up with no stone left upturned. The attention to detail put into the work under the house was top notch, the appropriate amount of time was taken to perform the work properly. As they say good work is not cheap and cheap work is not good. I have little doubt that this encapsulation will long outlive me at the property. Pricing was very reasonable, contract terms were upheld on both ends, there were no surprises or hidden fees. Stacy in the home office did a masterful job coordinating the work, their company, while still small and local, has a large impact and clearly out performs big name competitors. I cannot stress enough the caliber of employee character and work ethic that I saw for such a tough work environment, this alone deserves five stars. I would highly recommend Seal-Tite to anyone needing foundation, crawlspace, or drainage work.Service:Waterproofing
Lesly Fehn: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueThey were awesome! Got me scheduled quickly and the guys that did the work did a great job. Hardworking and professional. Stacy in the office was a pleasure to talk to as well. Basement looks great. Thanks so much. Would highly recommend.Service:Waterproofing
Susan Ellis: We were given a fair estimate 12/20 and was told the work would start in 1/21. Work was canceled once due to rain. It's now March. We've had several days when the work could have been done and called hoping to get on the schedule. We were treated rudely and told our job was not priority. Our deposit was promptly refunded when requested. We were hoping to have a dry basement when the spring rains came this year, and were disappointed to have to start over.
Matthew Casto: Had extreme flooding in my area, most homes underwater. They were booked solid, but a year later got them out and it was worth the wait!! Great work, great company, and great value. They dug up my entire foundation and installed french drains, in a week. It's been a year, and I can highly recommend this company. They are booked solid because they're worth it.
Camille Miller: The crew arrived on the date/time promised. They were polite, professional, and worked non-stop (except for 2 short breaks and lunch). Because of my landscaping, the crew determined the best way to get to the bottom of the foundation was to dig a hole—24” x 8’. It was truly impressive—perfectly squared off. They sealed the wall, replaced the dirt, and replaced decorative stone. They then installed a 50’ French drain—trenching, refilling the trench, and removing excess debris. The crew worked as a team, did a top-notch job, and left the job sites better than they found them. It took them 4 days—and they never wavered from an extraordinary work ethic. That was last week. This week? We’ve had torrential downpours and flooding—but my basement and garage are dry. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat.
Patti Landovek: A great company to work with. I highly recommend them. My basement was the worst (many years of water damage and truly a disaster waiting to happen). This company was reasonably priced and well worth the money. I had this work done at the beginning of the year. Since then we have had epic rainfall here in Roanoke, VA and my basement has remained dry! And the workers were neat, respectful of my property, and finished in the time they said they would.
Katie Klos: This company was hired to install french drains in our backyard. The employee that came for the estimate was professional but it went down hill from there. He qouted 4 grand and said it would take 3 or 4 days. When the workers arrived theyfinished in 1 day and left a muddy sloppy mess.We called the company and they scheduled for someone to come and remove the mounds of dirt in the back yard. This time we were satisfied with the way the yard looked but the first time it rained our basement flooded like it had never flooded before .We called the next day to explain what had happened and they sent a crew the same day. When I explained to the crew how upset we were ,they blamed our gutters, and one crew member laughed when I said that it flood our basement. They never offered money off for inconviences or water damge in our basememt the took many breaks and two of the three man crew spent alot of time leaning on a shovel. If you need french drains look elsewhere this is not the company to call.
Jennifer Byrd: So pompous! If you live in an older house it's too much for them to handle! The guy showed up with his attitude and laughed saying it's not something he would want to do. Skilled trade and hard working people are definitely a dying breed.
Christine Sander: Great service from Jan and Sarah (I believe that's her name), and the installers worked really quickly. Instead of installing a sump pump, they dug a trench (my yard is sloped enough, I guess) and the day after they were done, I barely noticed it in my yard. The work just finished last week, so I can't state yet whether or not my basement will leak (we haven't had a hard rain to test it), but if it does, it was worth every penny.
Sue Lovelace: Thanks to you, I found out that the water in my basement was NOT the wall but my air conditioner. It is amazing to find out there are still honest people out there. They didn't even charge for the visit. I have told all of my friends.

Smouse Brothers: what do users think?
Seth Allen: Finally, and ethical company! After getting a quote from another company that said the issues in my house would require a large number of repairs costing a great deal of money, I called Smouse Bros for a second opinion and they spent twice as long looking at the issues, provided detailed explanations, and confirmed that the issues were merely “cosmetic” and didn’t require structural repair! On top of that, they explained how I could fix the issues myself without even involving them. Wow! I can’t recommend this company enough. If you are looking for a trustworthy company who will shoot it to you straight, go with these guys!
Patrick Hyatt: Had a great crew from Smouse Brothers put a french drain, sump pump, and vaper barrier in our crawl space. Im very pleased with the quality of the work they did and would definitely recommend this company.
Sue and Dave Kidder: Service:Foundation drainagePositive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Dan O'Reilly: Jess Smouse’s estimates to first enlarge my home’s existing crawl space opening (…and its adjoining entry well) for an in-progress plumbing project, and then to replace some pier supports and to sister several floor joists, were reasonable and consistent w/final outcomes and payments. My handfuls of questions were answered w/no attempt to up-sell or deviate. Communications with the office/Pam were clear, timely, and responsive.I was particularly satisfied w/ the value, knowledge base, responsiveness, and timeliness. Would re-employ Smouse Brothers’ services and recommend.
Michael Baker: I contacted Smouse Bros about the crawl space of our house. It has been very wet using two sump pumps. They proposed a complete fix for the various problems. The price was agreeable. The work crew showed up on time and proceeded to complete the project in a quick and efficient way. They were very professional and let me know everything they were going to do. Enjoyed very much their cordial attitude. My house crawl space is completely updated. Looks great. I would recommend you get a Smouse under the house any time you are having trouble.Service:Foundation drainage
Heather Rushing: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI’m very pleased with the results of the foundation work and how quickly and efficiently they got the job done . Josh and Evan came back out and did an awesome job finishing up the Sumb Pump Hook Up .. They Are very nice and friendly I would highly recommend them for your foundation needs..Service:Foundation drainage
Tim Wallace: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueThey fixed my sticking doors problem. They showed up when they said they would and for a very fair price. PS Tanner & Tristan are the best. I would use them again AAAA+
Ted Schleis: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueSmouse Bros repaired the sagging floor of my home. Other company's didn't want the job, Smouse Bros did it at a fair price. Their crew did a great job, were very courteous and respectful of us and our property. We are totally pleased.
Tara Byers: I had an excellent experience with Smouse Bros! We needed help with our crawlspace - pretty much the works - window wells, new sump pump, french drain, vapor barrier, etc. Getting a quote was easy and informative. Pam in the office got us scheduled and the crew showed up at the scheduled time right on the dot. Our team of Josh, Dominic, and Evan absolutely killed it. They worked hard every day and cleaned up when they were finished and always let me know each day what had been completed and what was still in progress. The work they did was top notch and we greatly appreciate the care that went into helping us improve our home. I honestly can't even hear our sump pump anymore it's so nice and quiet - we may actually enjoy a good rain shower now! So much appreciation for this company and their staff. Highly recommend them for all your crawlspace needs. We will definitely use them again in the future for any further repairs.Service:Foundation drainage
Velma Merritt: The team arrived on the date promised. Shawn, the project boss, stopped at my door each morning, told me what they were going to do, how much noise there would be. When their workday was over, he told me what was done. All of the guys working were friendly and polite and they cleaned up daily any mess made. I was pleased there was no cursing that I heard. The job was completed in the time allotted. They filled in interior and exterior cracks, put in a much larger sump pump with drainage ditches and 4 in. sock pipe going to it, applied new dimple board and a new vapor barrier because mine was rotting due to flooding, reshimed the floorboards and put in headlock screws to the beams, put in extended length downspouts and plumbed the new sump pump, and installed a new window well because the old one was allowing water into the crawl space. Any question I had was politely answered. I highly recommend them.Service:Foundation drainage
Melissa Williams: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueGreat company. Very friendly and responsive. Did a great job. Would highly recommend.
T McTet: Let me save you time and pain: forget Foundation Recovery Systems and go with Smouse Bros. You will regret doing anything else.I previously had work done by both FRS and Thrasher Foundation Repair. They've got slick sales people and you'll get insanely overpriced bids that get completed by unskilled workers they plucked off the street - you're nothing but a number to them. Smouse Brothers are the COMPLETE opposite. From the top down it's evident that Smouse Brothers is an excellent company. They scope what's actually needed for your home with a no pressure sales approach, and very reasonable pricing. They look after their employees. Their employees look after you the customer, and your house. They're simply great in every aspect. A local family-owned company that treats their employees and customers like an extension of their family.Matt and team that came out to do my repairs (joist and column replacements, and support beam install) were awesome. They demonstrated that they genuinely wanted to do the job right, not just smash through it to move on to the next one. They picked up on my poor experiences with the other companies so they were very welcoming of my attentiveness to their work. Again, they genuinely wanted to do it right so I was happy. An example of their character:I had the crew back their truck up through my lawn which unintentionally resulted in some ruts. Not a big deal by any means, it happens. They actually went out to get fill dirt, lawn seed, and topdressing to fix it (properly). That's the level of care and consideration they have for your property. Any other contractor would've done nothing to fix it if they even had the presence of mind to check for ruts.
Sabaac Jalaran: After looking at different foundation repair companies in the area, and getting several bids, we chose Smouse Brothers because they are local, they explained their process well and did not try to "upsell" us on unnecessary extra work. They replaced a support beam under our house and added an automatic sump pump in our cellar. When the guys were working, they discovered another support beam (in a very hard to reach location) needed to be replaced/reinforced, so we had them take care of that on a second trip. The lead on both teams, Shawn (sp?) always kept us in the loop for any changes or problems, and even lowered the second estimate when he found a third support beam was not needed. We highly recommend Smouse Brothers for any foundation or drainage issues! T & R in HollisterService:Foundation drainage
Carie Carie: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueSmouse Bros. did a GREAT job replacing my Sump Pump! Matt C. Was fast and efficient, and left the site neat and clean when he was finished.I highly recommend Smouse Bros. for their professionalism and customer service!
jim coombs: Both Smouse brothers inspected the crack in my basement wall and explained what needed to be done to fix it, which was drilling into the basement floor and installing piers. They were very professional, friendly, and took time to answer my questions. The guys who did the project, Tristan, Tanner, and Jared, were hard working, polite, respectful of my property, and informed me each day on the progress of the project. After ground water came up in the holes they dug for the piers, they put in a sump pump at half price. There was red mud everywhere, but they cleaned it all up to my satisfaction when they were done. I am very pleased with their work and I have the relief that their work is guaranteed for the life of the house. I will recommend the Smouse Brothers company to anyone needing foundation repair.Service:Foundation drainage
Brittany Bremer: Jake came by to give us an estimate on our basement dampness, and even though it was determined our specific problem would probably be best served by an hvac technician, he was so thorough at explaining what's going on, giving us plenty of his time. He didn't recommend costly solutions that might not even fix our problem. Also gave us ideas we can try if a dehumidifier doesn't do the trick. Would highly recommend this local family-owned business.
PARADISE LANDING HOA: We had a unique problem involving a crack in a wall that separated two treatment plant tanks. Smouse Brothers responded very quickly to our request for help. Jess arrived and together we assessed the situation. The Smouse Brothers proposal and repair method was creative, logical, the most cost effective of the possible solutions to our problem. We discussed the Smouse methods in detail with Jess, defined the scope and contracted Smouse Brothers to do the repair. The project involved tricky coordination with several other contractors and the weather. Jess was very cooperative and supported the schedule, always arriving as planned and always performing work efficiently and professionally. Jess explained the steps clearly and executed them flawlessly. The work was completed ahead of schedule in conditions that were far from favorable helping us to save costly down time.Smouse Brothers are on time, knowledgeable, creative in identifying the correct method of repair. They keep the client informed, say what they will do and do what they say. They are honest and make no false claims. They are efficient and professional. They are courteous and committed and dedicated. Doing business with Smouse Brothers was the key to our successful repair.
Melissia Jones: Reasonable and professional
Lance Laney: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Responsiveness,ValueAfter talking to multiple companies, Smouse Brothers took the time to come out on three occasions to make sure our water drainage and foundation problem could be resolved. They showed up on time, finished the job early, & even repaired my crawlspace door. I would definitely recommend them.Service:Foundation drainage
Debbie Smith: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessI’m very pleased with my new French drain. They were very professional & courteous. I would use their service again & recommend them to friends.
Scott Avey: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueAlways excellent customer service. Fast response on warranty issues. Great prices. Highly recommend. You won’t find a better company to deal with in this area.
