Guitar Center: what do users think?
Cael Stecklein: This guitar center has it down! Everyone there is very helpful and understanding. I went to get a few guitar pedals and Dalton asked if he should check the back for a popular one that I was looking for. It was nice that he took initiative to immediately ask and look. They didn’t have it but he brought out one that was similar and showed it. He set me up and I played a bit with 3 pedals. He checked on me a few times and brought another pedal to checkout, he set me up and let me be. There was a first guy who helped me but I didn’t see his name but he helped me too, both very nice.
Coby Morrone: Keatin was extremely helpful in finding what audio interface and studio monitors to buy!! loved the service!!!
Tim C: Super helpful. I prefer Palen over other shops in area. They sale my kind of guitars. PRS and Gibson. They also have the best service and informative crew here.
Mark Griffith: Go to a nearby guitar store if you don't really know exactly what you're looking for. I should have read the previous reviews before I went here.
Wayne Stroup: It's a shame that because I wasn't spending an absolute fortune, I wasn't worth the time to negotiate with. I was gonna buy it anyway, just wanted to see if I could get a better price.
Jo Mama: This Springfield, Missouri location gives Guitar Center a bad name.Unprofessional staff ✅0 customer service ✅Inaccurate website inventory ✅Abhorrent sales practices ✅I make every attempt to purchase musical equipment from my local brick and mortar stores. I try to support the physical locations, because I like to see something before purchasing it, and I also try to spend my tax dollars locally. My initial experience here came after driving from Arkansas to buy a Marshall DSL40CR tube combo amp listed on the Springfield location website, only to find out upon arrival that it was not actually in their store's physical inventory, and they had "no idea where it went." Oh well, I drove the two hours back home.Tonight (2/17/23) I made the trek again to purchase a gorgeous, new, Guitar Center exclusive, Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro V in Satin Iced Tea, advertised specifically on their Springfield Missouri location website for a Presidents Day sale price of $1,949.00. When I arrived, the in-store sale tag price was $2,099.00 ($150.00 higher than it was listed on that location's website). I asked the sales associate David if the price on the guitar was accurate, and matched the prices on the website. He assured me that they did match, but showed no interest in checking. I had to pull up the website on my phone and show the discrepancy before he said "MAYBE we could match the online price". I asked David to bring the Les Paul down off of the wall for me to check the intonation. I swear to God on a stack of Bibles, he handed it to me with a snapped headstock. I don't mean cracked, I mean severed completely off, and shoddily glued back together with paint concealing the broken and chipped wood as if it had never happened. It was presented online, on the price tag, and directly to me as a BRAND NEW guitar. Neither the first sales manager or David even acknowledged it until I pointed it out. They honestly just acted bummed they were gonna lose the sale. I was disgusted. After huddling for a minute, sales manager #1 approached me and said "dude this thing has been on the wall longer than I've worked here. You're like the first person to even ask to take it down." Not "I'm sorry for your trouble" Or "wow, this is embarrassing, let's make it right". I took a lap around the store to count to ten and chill. They sent over David again with a third associate, sales manager #2, who matter of factly said I should just order another one. I tried to explain my frustrations, that this was already the second time this had happened to me in this specific store. He was clearly annoyed, and did not care that I spent another tank of gas, and was prepared to give him every penny in my checking account for the guitar of my dreams, before uncovering a compromised Gibson. What if I hadn't been savvy enough to check the headstock? They could have sent me, or some unsuspecting kid home with that. They either knew about it and covered it up, or never clean and inspect their inventory. Additionally, someone at that store had to have done the repairs, and made the decision to put it back out on the sales floor as if it were a new guitar. I asked him "why didn't the website list it as a damaged guitar?" He literally told me they were unable to update their own inventory on the website, and that a broken/repaired headstock isn't a blemish, and there was nothing he could do. "That's just our policy dude." No empathy, no accountability, nothing.I walked out. I have no plans on returning.I hope someone at Gibson reads this and sees how Guitar Center is handling their beautiful instruments, while simultaneously stepping over their loyal fan base to turn a quick profit.I also hope whoever runs this store reads this review. I have driven 8 hours now to try and give this location my business, and every time I leave feeling like nobody cares. Hopefully your next buyer is treated better than I was.Sad.PSI've attached a photo of my new Les Paul that I drove to Fayetteville, Arkansas and purchased the very next morning.
Bryan Lewis: No pressure, help was readily available if needed. The item I bought rang up for more than the shelf price. When I mentioned that, without hesitation the worker went looked on the shelf and honored the price. Evidently that sale had ended, I did not have to ask or debate- great customer service experience!
Soul Surfer: Not the friendliest of places, no name and kind of rude. I called yesterday, and asked if I could bring in my son's guitar to have it tuned. And I let the person on the other end know - I wouldn't know the first thing about tuning it as I'm guitar illiterate. He went on about how I could come in and buy some electronic tuner, and watch videos on YouTube on how to use it and how simple it is - He didn't hear what I said at all. I'll just wait and have my friends Glenn Bailey the lead singer for Crashrocket tune it for him, or guitarist Sid Hill from Psycho Magnets do it. Waste of a call I'd say.
jenny W: Wow!! Best Guitar Center Ever!!!! I received a damaged guitar online and they switched it out without any issues. Staff members were knowledgeable when it came to all of my ProAudio questions as well. Super nice and helpful crew here at this store! I will be back!
Marty McCollum: It's Christmas day my, son just opened his gift we bought him. The Peavey acoustic guitar we purchased from them has a Crack in the body of the guitar. Guess I should have checked inside the box before leaving the store.
Kenny Moore: I like this place
Hoss PD: Guitar Center is my go to for everything guitars. I’ve purchased several guitars from them. Always checked over well, and great service.
Jimmy Letterman: Not bad but I'll have to go up there and visit them
Bernadette Brock: They are always so helpful.
Travis Burks: Reese was the man gave me a very fair amount for my used gear I no longer need hit him up!!!!
Andrew Marker: Helpful staff. Diverse selection of brands.
KESHER MEDIA: It's a tired and worn out looking GC, and not well stocked in the Pro Audio and keyboards sections! :-(
Rod Applegate: It's a GC... sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad...
Dustin Lacey: Well the workers I dealt with weren't very smart but they sure were dumb! Nonetheless I will be going to music Mac in the future.
Ginny Selby: I've been to several Guitar Centers over the years, and this location by FAR had the best energy, crew, service, just all of the above plus more than any I've frequented before. CANNOT say enough good things about these guys. They were beyond fantastic and ridiculously talented to boot. Fixed my son's guitar without question and not only gave him a free lesson but also got him squared away for more in the future. Was such an amazing experience there. Thanks so freaking stinking much!!
Jeremy North: Fantastic store. It was REALLY close to Christmas and I was looking for a clip on guitar tuner and picks for my son as I was passing through Springfield while headed home. They were REALLY friendly and insightful, and took the time to help me make what would end up being a great purchasing decision that my son just loved! Thanks!

The Acoustic Shoppe: what do users think?
Timothy Brawley: The Acoustic Shop team are spot on. They were very friendly and helped me with my purchase. A big shout out to Jeremy for personally handling my order! Thanks Tim!
William Plantenga: Great customer service over the phone, great info and sound samples on YT, great job photographing each individual guitar for online purchase! These were all factors in me choosing to order my Eastman E1D-CLA from them over more local options. They even reply to live questions on YT. Buy from them instead of big box stores. You won’t regret it
Peter Pohlenz: A very nice music store: helpful staff; fast and well packaged shipment; item exactly as described on-line. A+!
Donnie Wright: Awesome company. Kind, helpful, generous employees, plus one of the best YouTube channels to follow - John & Jeremy - THE ACOUSTIC SHOPPE!
Jerald Tackitt: I just had my 2nd Eastman guitar set up for my comfort and style. Thanks Liz for your expertise in the shop. The Acoustic Shoppe is as good as it gets from sales to service. I always know I’m getting the best product for my money.
Greg Fisher: The online experience was easy to navigate. The selection of picks I was looking at was very extensive but your video on picks was very helpful. You made choosing much easier.
cliff potthoff: Best Shoppe in town!
Daniel Lawrie: Fantastic service. Corey called me before they shipped my mandolin and asked what kind of strings (or other special specs) I would like. And they installed the strings free! The mandolin arrived with some bonus picks and a thank you card. Great human touch to the online buying experience. Free shipping was a huge plus
Daniel Reilly: The guys at The Acoustic Shoppe went out of their way to make sure my purchase was everything I wanted it to be. I’ve since made multiple purchases.
Michael White: Great Owners and Staff! Very knowledgeable and friendly. And the teaching staff is always helpful and encouraging.Highly recommend.

Robert Ready: Really neat shop, and great knowledgeable folks to help you with any questions.
Deakin Mooney: I love this place
Joseph Marsh: I recently had the pleasure of finally being able to purchase an Eastman mandolin515v from the Acoustic Shoppe.First and foremost, the staff at the Acoustic Shoppe deserve a special mention. The content and quality of their reviews and digital content they provide are of the highest quality. It is a great thing to purchase from a store that prides itself on dedication to ensuring every instrument is of the highest standard. The website is user friendly and informative, allowing customers to browse the inventory and make informed decisions.I will purchase from no other retailers moving forward! This is based off of the value and education the Chapman’s have been able to provide me on Guitar Mandolin.Thank you Acoustic Shoppe (Chapmans)
Ronald Downes: Very nice shop! Got me a Em harp!
S Mul: This is an amazing quaint acoustic shop with a fantastic staff! A perfect place to purchase (in store or online) a quality instrument from a very knowledgeable and caring staff. They have everything from mandolins to banjos and guitars (and all the accessories), and the displays are well laid out. They take the time to answer all your questions and share tips and tricks (they will even play for you so you can hear the tone quality). Their online videos are super helpful for deciding on instruments. The instruments they stock are top quality, and the shop is very clean and smartly organized. They offer lessons and repairs etc. I was so impressed with the wonderful staff that I had to write this review. I have been in a lot of music stores in my life but none where the professionalism, selection and quality exceeds this one. No, they are not personal friends, relatives or those who twist your arm to write reviews, just fellow lovers of music deserving of some marketing.
Sean Lee: I have purchased three acoustic guitars in the last few years from this little family owned guitar store in Springfield Missouri called, "The Acoustic Shoppe." I've had an Eastman AC522CE; an AC722CE and today to celebrate my 56th Birthday that was last week I purchased an Eastman AC622CE KOA Ltd. edition that literally arrived @ the Shoppe yesterday. Although someone tried to buy it, they called me right away because I had been tracking the delivery for awhile. The employees and John, one of the owners have treated me like family since I first walked into the store a few years ago and I still feel that way today. Liz was so good to lower the action and I even got a 10% discount for my Birthday! If you're looking for a high quality guitar; Mandolin; a Banjo or Ukulele, without the enormous price, then The Acoustic Shoppe in Springfield Missouri is the place to go! Once you get one guitar, you'll be back for another, and another, and another! Thank you Cory for making it happen today! Godspeed!
Robin England: Have bought many banjo and mandolin related items from these guys and have always received great products and fast shipping. I even bought and Eastman 815 mandolin sight unseen, John even played it over the phone for me!!! Great folks to do business with!!!
Edwin Koval: Very helpful. Nice deal on a new Eastman!
Steven James: We're very knowledgeable about any questions I had. Was very nice and polite. I would recommend any one looking for great guitars at great prices to stop by and have a look.
Herbert Hilt: Bought a Guild A20 Bob Marley special edition today as my first guitar. The people at The Chatman’s Acoustic Shoppe were exceptionally helpful. Thank you, and I am looking forward to more purchases in the future.

Rob Patterson: I purchased a Taylor guitar a few months ago from Palen. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. He brought me a couple Martins ( in the same price range) to compare with the Taylor, but the Taylor sounded so much better. Never once was there any pressure. Very pleased with Palen Music.
Layton Coatney: Great service and friendly staff. Would recommend buying and instrument here.
Nick Geo: Good place to buy music supplies.
Cody Stanford: I found a guitar I had been wanting for a while but never could find the right time to pull the trigger. That time finally came and we were able to make a trade deal. Quick and fair negotiation!
Dylan Avery: I always enjoy Palen. Very helpful staff and their selection is top notch! Marla has helped me many times and always has great input and suggestions. Palen Music for the win!Posting another review: Palen is what a music shop/store should be. Whenever I go to Palen I feel relaxed and like I’m coming to a favorite hangout. The selection and staff are top notch.
Jake Wood: The staff is always friendly the moment you walk in the door. I have been in many time just palying different guitars trying to figure out what I wanted. The staff is never pushy and don't seem to mind just looking around. The day they had the guitar I could not pass up, they cut me a deal on an out the door price and was done. No games, no gimics, quality products. Great people!
sigmundc: They bring in some great guitars/pedals, etc. The staff is outstanding. I always enjoy working with Nate, Emmet, Marla, Colin and Dylan, et. al. (hope I'm not leaving anyone out!). Eric Wofford: Staff was friendly and helpful, prices were fair.
scott smith: The staff was very friendly and helpful they have good quality products and are nothing like guitar center which I would not recommend to anyone
Kenneth Pearce: My sales woman was probably one of the coolest most non-invasive sales people I’ve ever met. I’ve been in sales all my life and they lied to Guitar sell itself. Then when there was a couple of extra things I needed done even after I purchased it, they made sure and nailed everyone of them. Thank you from the bottom my heart guys.
shelly: We received excellent customer service at Pallen Music. The sales person spent time answering questions and was very knowledgeable about all of the guitars in the store. He was very patient and helpful. He also was willing to create a package price for us. We went to a couple other guitar stores first but bought here not only because we liked the product but because of the interest and time we received!
Christian Lee: The Springfield MO, location is absolutely wonderful! Every person in there is super helpful, and knowledgeable about gear.Especially Marla, she’s by far my favorite and I will always do my business with her when I buy from Palen, she’s the best!!!Thanks guys! The amp sounds sooooo good!!!!
Braden Judson: Hands down the best music store in Springfield! I highly recommend if you're looking quality instruments and gear! Customer service was amazing too!
Paulla Terrill: Very helpful and nice staff, great selection of instruments! I appreciate Marla's help in my purchase.
Wanda Dunn: Marla was great ! Very helpful in our decision to purchase our new electric piano. She had the best personality and knew exactly what we was looking for. We will be back when we need anything else for our church. Just want to add Emmett also helped us load our new keyboard and also played it so we could hear the tone we was looking for.
Sarah Dawn: We had an absolutely amazing experience with Marla today. We went in looking for a snare drum for our son to start learning on for school. She answered all of our questions and gave us a bundle deal with the accessories we needed for it! She was super nice and helpful. We had a written in the stars moment when the drum case which she said had been sitting in the shelf for a long time fit the snare drum we chose perfectly! We had tried other cases and nothing else fit. It was meant to be!!! Great quality instruments and amazing staff make for a wonderful musical experience!! We just love this place! Thank you so much Marla for all your help!!
