C Ortloff: I arrived to Springfield from a 9 hour trip and had vehicle troubles that needed to get taken care of. Not knowing anyone local I started calling mechanics. Aasby was recommended by the first two companies I called that couldn’t fit me in. Aasbys was able to sneak my vehicle in the following day. However, equally important was the fact they dropped me back off at the fairgrounds and picked me back up from the fairgrounds so that I did not miss work. That was fantastic as I didn’t know whether or not Springfield has a taxi service or Uber drivers. Oh, last thing. They charged less than half the price I expected to pay. They did not take advantage of me and the fact I was an “out of towner”. The front desk woman was fantastic.

Darrell Harris: My foreign car was having lots of issues, So I took it to another shop for a car diagnostic test. I was told both batteries were fine, but it might possibly need a new alternator or have some wiring issues which could have been in the thousands (the alternator alone was $1200.00 at that shop). Import Car Service did a car diagnostic test and told me ALL it needed was a battery. They replaced the main battery and now the car is running perfectly. Its so nice to have a car I can depend on again. I highly recommend them.Service:Auto maintenance

Analissa Wolf: Quoted $850 to do something that I got done same day somewhere else for $350! And while diagnosing the vehicle they continuously revved the vehicle for atleast a half hour. Then gave me a code for o2 sensors from a check engine light, and to change my valve covers. Also extremely unprofessional cussing loudly to where it could easily be heard from the waiting room. Then they charged me $90 diagnostic, $8 supply, and $3 in hazmat when all they did was check engine light code reading.

Alexis Spurgin: Called Tony on a Monday to diagnose on a steering wheel/rack and pinion/gear box issue on a Mercedes Benz. Told us to have it towed on Tuesday, but only in the afternoon because he didn't want too many cars in his parking lot. Told us he could start working on it Wed morning. Had it towed there and he told my husband that he didn't know when he'd be able to get to it and then told him and the tow truck driver that he can't help them because the tow truck driver could not set the Benz down in the spot Tony wanted it dropped because the wheels are locked sideways. Tow truck driver apologized to my husband for Tony's behavior and recommended another shop. Don't expect good reviews when you're rude. Thanks.

Gabriel Laub: They lied about my inspection. Clearly they though I didn't know my stuff. They said my bottem controll arm bushings were bad, when they were completely fine. So that was a complete lie. And then said my power steering pump was leaking. Even though there has never been and is still not a single drop coming from it. All in all. I would not recommend this one. They are not honest and go after people that don't know enough about vehicles

Offered to fix it for over $500.Sounded suspect, so I took it to a mechanic I trust in Webster County. The trusted mechanic checked my truck from bumper to bumper and didn't find a single thing wrong with it.J&S Automotive, as far as I can tell, abuses their inspection authority to try to fix things that aren't broken and run up an unnecessary bill.If I could leave a zero-star review, I would.Don't let these crooks do anything to your vehicle.

They just assumed they could keep it overnight I guess. They close at 5 pm. If they don't have enough employees to complete the appointments they schedule, they should not make so many appointments. We will not be back. Our daughter and son in law will not be back. The friends that we have referred will not be back.

The guy I made the appointment for the tune up with said it should be done by noon. The day came and they called me a little after 4 p.m., they close at 5:00pm, telling me that I did in fact need a tune up. But that is exactly what I had made the appointment for and I even specified wanting new plugs and wires. They said I could bring it back the following Monday.The appointment before that, on the same vehicle, they misdiagnosed the fan issue we were having. It ended up that the water pump was going out and the Jeep was running hot.

Eric S.: I’ve been using A-1 since 2015, and my family was going there before I started. There’s a reason why they have BBB torch awards and a five-star rating from Carfax. That reason is honesty. Every time I go in, the amount I pay is less than I expect. And they will not risk the reputation of the company for a quick upsell. They tell you what urgently needs fixing, what can wait, what will eventually happen, and their best estimate on a timeline. They want you to be a repeat customer, and it shows.

Shawn Summers: I've been using A-1 for maybe 20 years? It's been a very good run but sadly today is my last visit.I needed an oil change on my Tundra. It was slow but I was late, seems fair.The real problem was when I was told I need transmission service /fluid change($280) My immediate response was "No it doesn't" but I didn't explain why I knew that. The service writer told me the fluid was dark. I knew two things, I had just had it done at a different shop and my truck doesn't have a transmission dipstick. There's no way to determine dark fluid without significant work.I challenged the service writer and initially he blames "a new system" finally he admitted he made up the dark fluid part. And that the ticket reflected Service Trans if not already done. Very different from "you need transmission service" "the fluid is dark"Long story short. They would have happily taken the $280, dumped the nearly new fluid, and refilled and I would have likely never known. It's predatory and had I been less informed I would have been taken. I'm not a car expert, so I have to trust my service provider, this transaction undermines that trust.

Everything is up front--you get a quote on the services, and you can sign off on only the ones you want. You also get a free inspection with every visit, and this is a great way to stay up-to-date with needed maintenance. For example, this time CA told me I'd be needing a new battery soon. Everyone is very friendly. The waiting area is clean and pleasant, with free coffee and sodas and snacks. Dalek Nation: BEWARE!!! Nicest guys you'll ever meet... sure they'll charge you $200 labor to set a $60 battery in an old truck, but they're super nice and professional about it. EDIT: in all they charged $600 for a battery and oil change. Gave me a $1600 list of repairs needed for inspection; OVER HALF OF THE THINGS we're not needed (nothing wrong with tail lights is one example). SHADY!! 2ND EDIT: '92 Ford Ranger. Yes, I was there. Want me to elaborate? You wanted $1600 for inspection. $300 for a tire that past inspection elsewhere. $200 for taillights, which were 100% fine. I mean, the list you gave me was laughed at by next place I took it to. Call you to talk about it? No, I'm never giving another moment of time to you (seriously though, you have no record of me using your business? Nice try. Get a lot of '92 Ford Rangers in a week?)

Isaac Aldridge: Lady at the front desk yelled at me every time I called in to see how my car was doing. Said they'd "Look at it today" for 5 days in a row and never did. She lied. She yelled at customers. It's not worth it to do business with them at all because of her.
Emily Aldridge: For background, I am 9 months pregnant, literally can go into labor at any time and have a one year old son. The car in the shop? Our only car.We (my son and I) were going to go do grocery shopping when my car overheated and I was completely unable to get it to cool down. My 1 year old was also fed up and upset with the situation. So I had my car towed to this mechanic. It was about 4 in the afternoon, we were all hot and unhappy so I didn't get to call to give them my info or anything. We call first thing the next morning to make sure they have our information and the woman at the front almost immediately was snapping at us for not giving her our information earlier. Which was literally what we were calling to do. We were told our car could get looked at that day or early the next morning.Awesome! So we call later the next day and they still haven't looked at our car, which is fine. But the lady is still short and kind of rude to us. We're told the car would be looked at that day, or AT THE LATEST, would be looked at next Monday. So we think, oh the car could still be looked at tomorrow! (It was Thursday at the time)So Friday we call, and see what's going on with the car. We are welcomed with a long, rude lecture about how mechanics work and how we were told that no mechanic would be in today(which never happened) and we're completely unreasonable for calling. She was yelling at us over the phone when we had been nothing but polite.We were constantly met with rude, snarky comebacks, and never once were given a straight answer about our car. Then yelled at when we tried to get information.We went to pick up our car and now are working on fixing it ourselves. This place is not worth the bullying or extra work.You better make sure you have an extra running car and ample time where you won't need the vehicle you take in. Also be prepared to be berated and bullied by the front office staff.

The local GM and Ozark Chevy shops wanted my suv for few days and were over a week out.

Isabelle Brooks: I would not recommend having your car looked at here they are unprofessional and not trust worthy. They took a month to look at my car fully and they left my car unlocked after I specifically told them to keep it locked. When I came to pick up my car it was unlocked and my stereo was gone. I feel like they could of stole it because they have a camera pointing directly towards my car it was token out very clean and I had other valuables in there but was not touched. But either way they left my door unlocked sitting right by the road for who knows how long very unprofessional.
