Annalee Scandrett: TR's website makes finding a vocal teacher in your area or via webcam extremely easy. However, it was their customer service that truly made the difference in me committing to vocal lessons. I have been blown away by the professionalism and expertise of my teacher Amanda but it is the welcoming, non judgmental culture of TR that makes me keep showing up for lessons.

Kelly Hummert: I came back to voice lessons after a 16 year absence! I had originally studied with a prominent female teacher in St. Louis, but found the experience to be tiring and nerve-wracking. All the criticism left me in tears after classes, and as a young girl, I needed encouragement and faith and for my teacher, who I trusted, to believe in me. After two years of studying she told me I'd never make it as a singer - only as an actress. Cut to 16 years later, when I found Garrett. From the moment I met him, I felt completely at ease and welcome and appreciated. He is a phenomenal teacher. Because I feel so comfortable with him, I am able to learn in a relaxed environment that is encouraging and entirely fun. I am improving by leaps and bounds due to this man. Gretchen Schiltz Brenner: My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Gen (owner) at Shock City for several years, and we couldn't be happier with our experience! My daughter started lessons when she was 10, and she has loved learning piano and has thoroughly enjoyed working with Gen. In addition to the musical skills she's gained, she's also developed a sense of ownership and pride in her growing musical ability -- which has been such a beautiful thing to witness in our growing pre-teen!
Ben: My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Shock City for about eight months now. Thanks to the positivity, patience, and expertise of her teacher, she's making fantastic progress--and she's having a lot of fun! Both of us look forward to her weekly lessons and especially to the studio's recitals. We'd recommend Shock City to anyone looking for private lessons or group instruction.

M K: Very disappointed with this class. The music was only played via an iPhone and the children were given the same two instruments to play with for each class. Toys were provided at the beginning of class and then taken away, which doesn’t work well for toddlers at all. Their policy on class registration fees, and make up classes is horrible. We were basically charged 120.00 for 1.5 classes so buyer beware and make sure your child will even like this class before throwing away 45.00 to register them and then having to pay for the full month without any refund option if they hate it, which our 20 mo did. OH… The kicker here is that they don’t offer a free trial class!!! So you have no idea if this is a good fit until you fork over all the money.I never felt he was engaged in a meaningful, fun, or authentic musical way. I’m sorry but pressing play on your iPhone shouldn’t cost 100+ a month. Don’t waste your money here.

Ms. Gen is an awesome teacher and has been very accommodating as the director. My son also loves his drum lessons with Joe. I highly recommend Shock City for your music lesson needs.

We have participated in the infant and toddler music classes at this school and enjoyed the playful atmosphere, fun-filled musical exposure, and sense of support and community. Check it out!
