I watched Saúl climb the trees, tie knots and cut the limbs - so careful and precise! It took two days to get all three trees down. At the end of each day the crew completely cleaned up my property. I've used Day Tree here and there over the last twenty years for Tree pruning as well as many years of tree & shrub fertilization and all the lawn care recommended over a full span of a year from early Spring to late Fall. Nathan came by to offer an estimate and a price was agreed upon. After my wife and I tagged trees at Kirkwood gardens, I called Nathan May 15th to schedule and expected a week plus wait for a visit. Nathan was able to react to an earlier job finish then expected and I was scheduled for the very next day, May 16th. The crew for the tree removal was: Josh (a cautious, thoughtful, and prudent chainsaw man, but one handled my tall Linden with remarkable ease.) Alex (who I questioned about various aspects of the removal procedures and had all my questions answered; as well as Alex volunteering additional knowledge which helped greatly.information thereby educating me). And Rudy (whom I'd met on previous jobs and always found respectful and pleasant, as well as very competent. He was a pleasure to interact with, very personable, super knowledgeable on a wide variety of things, gave really good advice, was patient and took time to explain things. Shortly after, he emailed me the proposal stating the recommendations and costs, which were VERY reasonable! Due to financial issues that popped up (HELLO, life!), we couldn't get the tree removed until 2 months later.A crew was sent at the agreed upon day, and they took down a big mulberry--IN THE RAIN--like it was nothing! They were badasses! There was a huge chunk that had to be left, I'm assuming, because their truck was pretty much filled to the brim with woodchips from what I could see from the window. Laura C. Arnold: These guys were great until they weren't. Make sure you mark and confirm EVERYTHING you want done because WHEN there is a discrepancy, they DO NOT CARE ABOUT MAKING THINGS RIGHT!! We've used them for years however, now they're too busy and lack effective communication needed to do the work correctly. And boy, they don't care about making things right!!! We had a miscommunication (they started taking the wrong branch out that would cost $1200) and when they FINALLY showed up to do the work, I asked that they stop because they were not removing the branches we had agreed to. Hoping to get things back on track, (I literally have the name of the gal that takes the calls in my phone, I've had many great conversations and a good relationship with them over the years.) I was and still am SHOCKED at how disinterested they are and the tone of voice they took-both the receptionist and owner. I spoke with the management and after being spoken over and not listened to, I realized that we were going nowhere. I said "Listen, I understand that we are just a small blip on your business map and that this is clearly of no concern to you. (We were getting ready to spend 3k, they had completed 1/2 the work) ...she said. "All of our jobs are just a blip on the map." Sent us a bill for $2k and charged us a $250 "cancelation fee". They threatened to take us to court despite our payments (in good faith we've paid portions each month and are STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO CLEAN UP AND FINISH) Read the fine print, be prepared to be challenged when they're wrong. Once they realized they would not win in court, they just notified us that they've sent us to collections. RED FLAGS ARE RED FLAGS for a reason....this is your RED FLAG!!! When things go wrong and they sometimes will, it's how a company makes or try's to make things right!! THEY'RE NOT INTERESTED IN MAKING THINGS RIGHT!!! Hugely disappointed in this unnecessary disaster! The person on the phone that I was talking to was using the fact that I had to raise my voice over the equipment-tree trimming equipment- to get them to stop work on the WRONG BRANCH THAT WAS GOING TO COST $1200! You can imagine how loud that equipment is.....the owners response is exactly the how she "shapes" the poor communication and unnecessary harassment they've caused us! Just be ready......Perfect example of how they handle things! Before you hire this company, ask them to play the tape from the day they were at my house-yes, they record the phone calls and THEN ask them to play the tape of my follow up conversation with the owner. In both instances, I was NONE of the things she's suggested. Erin Lawton: Thank goodness for Southfork Tree's 24/7 emergency service!! When I had a tree fall through my roof in the middle of the night, Doug kept a bad situation from getting way worse. He answered right away, came quickly (again, this was legitimately the middle of the night), and did a great job taking care of the immediate problem and tarping the roof. Then he came back the next day - when he had planned to have a day off - to remove the rest of the tree, expertly avoiding more damage despite the position of the fallen tree.
