St. Louis Community College: what do users think?
Nick Stergos: A literal joke. Run by petty babies who don’t want to do their jobs. Try to get anything done and everyone tells you it’s someone else’s job. Teachers don’t teach, they just tell you to buy a third party online course (not included in tuition) and that is your entire course. The teacher just grades. Ask a question and they get very annoyed.File a complaint, the dean will say he is not an expert in the subject so he can’t comment. Never get an answer.I’m 37, graduating with a 3.5. Not complaining about my grades. Not complaining about too much homework.Complaining about lack of substance and effort all around. I’m here to learn. They’re here to take your money.Terrible. Do not go, do not send your kids.
James Speiser: Great college! The teachers of my classes have all ranged between good and excellent, with the one exception being a German teacher. The cost is a tiny fraction of most colleges. I don't understand all the complaints from some posters about communicating with the administration or signing up for classes - just go to the campus and the people there will take care of you! My experience with the administration has been flawless when I appeared in person on campus, and signing up for classes is easy online. This place is a gem!
Ivy H: I've been trying to contact pretty much anyone in administration for the past 4 semesters to sign up for classes. No response via email, no returned phone calls. I have no idea why no one is able to respond but it's incredibly unprofessional and makes the quality of the school very unstable.
Valerie Griffin: Well thank god I read these 1 star reviews! I have been trying to contact stlcc for a while now and they never get back to me. I definitely had the benefit of the doubt in mind but seeing horrible experiences on these reviews from 4 years back isn’t a great sign. Time to move on!
Alen K: You can not buy books with a check.
Cole Hayse: Trying g to contact advising or and academic advise office/employee is awful. Its a hassle to do anything with financial aid with virtually no assistance for their department. Call multiple times and don't get a call back. Good for the price but wouldn't recommend.
A A: I am attempting to attend this college to get an associates degree. I am by no means lacking effort, intelligence, or motivation, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with the admissions staff. The audacity to continue to send me form emails hammering home that students can contact them at any time for help, questions, or concerns and then simply never respond to emails or calls. I’d show up on campus but it remains unclear WHICH campus they are stationed at. Frankly this is embarrassing, but I’m glad I’m finding this out before I’ve handed over money and feel obligated to continue doing so to finish my education track.
Siobhan Wright: The actual programs aren’t bad but it is absolutely impossible to get a hold of advising. They don’t answer the phone, their chat function on the site is turned off, and it can take up to a month to get an email answered. I have experienced them turning me away at the door to the office as well, so you can’t pop in to get a question answered. The wait time at their office is quite long. My degree program was discontinued without notice and they switched my track, invalidating a ton of credit hours. When I finally managed to get a hold of someone, they told me that they would escalate the issue to their manager and that I would receive a phone call same day or the next day. It has since been over a week. I have called, emailed, everything I know to do and have not been able to get through. Teacher quality is only one part of the college experience, another really important thing is how administration handles issues and this honestly could not have been fumbled any worse. I am out tons of credit hours and money because they didn’t think my future was worth the three minutes it would have taken to send and email. Will not be attending this institution any longer, I’m done.
Joann Helms: Great college and not to expensive like universities always are
Antonia Anderson: So the issues started this semester. I was paying out of pocket for class but was unable to this semester. I applied for FASFA but was denied. Instead was given CARES ACT grant which I’m cool with. The problem is the CARES ACT GRANT goes off of attendance. Meaning you have to show proof of attendance before the grant will be awarded. I need the grant to pay for the access code needed for the class, logging on that website shows my proof of attendance for the class. The professor for the class is not given ppl a 2 week temporary access code to help students with financial difficulties, and the college does not allow me to add the balance of the access code to my student account to pay off with my class unless you receive FASFA which is terrible idea when you have students paying out of pocket. The idea of going to a community college is for affordability and flexibility but this process terrible, disappointing and very discouraging and pointless to continue an education here if it’s not going to be flexible to my needs. Also when I called to the bookstore to just come in a pay for the access code and get it in hand instead of mailing it I was told that they are only doing shipping no walk-in. The problem is if you are allowing students to come on campus to take classes and study then the bookstore should be open as well for the convince of students like me when time is sensitive and in general if you are allowing student to go to class on campus. There is NO sense of urgency nor understanding from the staff. I feel like stlcc has set me up to fail and the first week is not is finish.
George Sackett: A great place to get an affordable education.
Reagan Haase: signed up for a continuing education course to get motorcycle certified and after waiting a month they canceled class just a week before. Now it’s almost June so all other motorcycle classes are booked for the summer. Really disappointed as I bought all my gear for nothing and won’t be able to ride till next year.
Kay Mure: I love the seamless apps that St. Louis community college offers. All of the staff were very helpful from the time I enrolled to the time the classes started.
Rosita Lewis: A plethora of knowledgeable, helpful, quality and so much more upon delivering many pathways within Higher Education and Workforce Development!I am proud to have served on the services and academic areas thus part to the many great opportunities for especially students to become successful!
Samantha Dicandia: The staff does not care about your needs. I have been trying to schedule online classes for about 2 weeks now and no one gets back to me they always say they will call me and I get no call. Staff is rude and they don’t care about you.
Edwin Barrera: Very unprofessional job by Anne Marie Mosher. A person with that attitude should never work in that position.
Matthew Bast: Professors are great:)
Iam Angel_S: Believe this you get what you pay for, when they say low cost it refers to the cheese employees as well. They have the worst employees in admission and financial aid, they never follow up and leave you waiting on important information you never get a straight answer and they consistently giving you the run around! I recommend higher education for all just not this one! Which is sad.
Jessica Lynn: Can't get in touch with any advisor at this school! Nobody answers just call music for an outrageous amount of time before I just have to give up.
Wally Greer: College HQ closed. Being replaced with apartment complex. Clark Street intersection very dangerous. Virtually impossible to access during baseball games. New HQ on McKelvey Road far to northwest.
logan m: STLCC is a joke, Meramec campus knows nothing, Florissant(its actually in Ferguson), Forest park is a run down piece of c***, wildwood is only nice because its a new campus but is full of liberal arts, the programs are a joke and will put you on hold for years while they wait to fill classes, their website is changing every year and deleting information you need, book buy back? here's 3 pennies for your $700 book, the teachers are incompetent and when you find a good one they are already full, you get dropped from classes without notice, even when paid in full 4+ MONTHS prior, no one from any campus knows anything about the engineering department except the department head and it will take you 15 months to get your cert/degree after everything has already been logged and you submit 4 applications and their co-highschool progams? oh my god, they send you to the inner city, give you no funding, no on checks up on the school, half the staff denies you exist, the other 49% don't know there are off campus programs and the last 1% are off campus teaching that they cant help because they are in the same boat as you... I would rather roll in broken glass and tabasco sauce than go through this hell again, don't even send your children here unless its for 2 years on A+(which isn't always guaranteed because they cut funding and the school takes a % )

Robert Young V: Great trail for morning walk or jog.
SS M: I don't even know where to begin. This place is just sad. Please try to get in to a better school. Even if this place is offered to you for free find something else. You get what you pay for. Most teachers are clearly only here for a paycheck and teach their own opinions not class.
megan youngblood: This school is good but the instructor in the fundamentals class is no help I reach out to her at the beginning of the semester for help. she told me that she don’t get paid enough to be coming up with no 200 practice questions and told me to use my resources. They like to belittle you and say I got my degree aren’t you trying to get yours. I hope the dean see’s how horrible these first semester instructor are including the lab instructor nasty attitude and who teaches a class without power points and one instructor speed through lectures.
