Gaven Erickson: *READ, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE*Rest assured while they got the average Joe covered, they'll curse, threaten, and even take steps toward you in attempts to cause bodily harm if you have feel necessary to raise any issues. Was chased away from the door after coming to pick up my file because the old gentlemen with glasses I spoke too there and prior on the telephone minutes before had became flustered and cursed me out over my concerns relating to one of his female workers speaking to me in a condescending rude manner, to where I initially was upset but quickly calmed down and at no point called anyone a curse word.I guess he didn't attack me because I carry a glove strapped to my chest, apparently I needed it.🙌Also told by Alex they'd reach out when I was back in town before the deadline and ended up calling on a Saturday, a day they aren't normally expected to even be in office from perspective of any given customer.Not to mention they only help you save money in a creative accountant way if your a favorite, don't expect anything special if you have a bad first impressionFinally don't let them mislead you as a company (poorly strung together at that), this is all truthful and nobody deserves to be treated unexpectedly in such a way regarding documents pertaining to income and yearly filing of federal taxes.
Shooting Fan: Called asking for basic tax advise regarding a county tax and other tax related issues. The person answered the phone right away to their credit. As soon as they THOUGHT it wasn’t related to specifically income tax I was hung up on after a few general comments and was told they were busy. He wouldn’t give me 60 seconds to explain what was going on. Not very friendly or caring, and not a good listener. I can’t believe I was hung up on, so rude.

Melissa Williams: I had very simple return, took less then 10 min and still charged me 200 dollars. Very upset and will not return, even of they are more difficult. I drove a long way for them.
Meredith Herrmann: I filed my 2019, 20 and 21 taxes with Jake. Began the process of refinancing my house two months ago only to find out my taxes for all three years were never accepted by the IRS, and I was NEVER notified. I have spent hours on the phone with the IRS trying to get to the bottom of it. Now I find out I owe approx 6k more than expected (not from penalties or late fees, but from Jake miscalculating my stimulus payments) and I also realized My child tax credit was not listed on any of my returns. I Never received stimulus payouts, or Bidens monthly child tax payment. My taxes are in shambles; I have no idea how to clean this up. I attempted to let Jake correct it, but he has been nonchalant, uncommunicative and frankly acts like it’s not a big deal. Apparently nepotism means more to this tax firm than actually submitting taxes to the IRS. STAY AWAY FROM SCHARF TAX.UPDATE: I have called, texted and emailed Jake and SCHARF taxes several times over the last 2 weeks. No one calls me back, no one responds to my texts or emails. As far as I can tell only one of my three returns has been processed by the IRS. The penalties on that return alone total over $700. I’m afraid the only way I can get a response from SCHARF is through litigation. What a nightmare!Second Update: 1 month and still no response from SCHARF tax or Jake. I’m now getting letters from the IRS that my forms were filled out incorrectly and they need supporting documentation.

Rex Baumgartner: Been using Scharf Tax for several years. We use to get a call from our tax professional summarizing our filing and what steps we need to take to prepare for the following year. Those calls stopped for the past few years. The only call received for two straight years is from what has to be the most unfriendly clerk in the office. When I walk in to pay for the preparation service, this same clerk just stares at me. I stood there hoping to be greeted....Nothing.Time to use another firm, something happened with Scharf. Time to move on.

We had multiple sources of income from multiple states and a mid-year move across state lines, and we were in and out in less than an hour. Very reasonable rate as well. If our taxes are ever non-trivial in the future, we'll definitely be back! Office smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, but in a "grandparents who used to smoke" kind of way - noticeable, but not offensive.
