Gehan Wanduragala: I waited to complete this review until after the system was installed and connected, the rebate was processed and we had several months of generation to evaluate. It is now more than 5 months since installation and we are extremely happy with the system's performance and AstraWatt.Our 10Kw system generates far in excess of our home electricity consumption with plenty of capacity to electrify water heater, furnace and add EV charger at a later stage. Even in January our electricity bill was $0.The sales process with AstraWatt is very efficient (and paperless) with clear and transparent explanations from Bryan and a quick site assessment. Bryan also guided us through the financing process which was painless.As we were the first home in our neighborhood to install solar there was a longer process of approval with the HOA in University Hills but AstraWatt were highly professional in communicating which was greatly appreciated by the Trustees. Megan at AstraWatt also coordinated with Ameren and UCity for the permitting and inspection.The installation crew were friendly and professional. We did have a minor roof leak caused by a stray screw but the AstraWatt team came back to resolve the issue. Similarly with an issue with the Current Transformer.The quality of the equipment installed by AstraWatt is high by industry standards which was important for us to ensure a long system life.Even after installation was complete the AstraWatt team were highly responsive to provide the necessary documentation for the federal tax rebate.All in all we would highly recommend them after comparing with other solar installers in the St Louis area.

His knowledge and clarity at the start of this process was incredible. He explained in great detail how solar works in my state with our local utility company (ameren). He explained everything from how overproduction would actually work, to sizing the system appropriately. He also explained in great detail the loan process, and various styles of loans (and what fees come with each one). Not one other company even came close to Bryan's explanation.Tim and the rest of the team were also very helpful throughout the whole process. Ryan was great during the install, and install went smooth and inspection cleared without problem.Very professional throughout the entire time.Basically summary: If you are thinking of going solar, before you commit to another company, PLEASE talk to Bryan B or one of the reps. They are incredible and so much more helpful and clear than any company.5 stars!

Everything including sales, permitting, installation, and inspection was perform by extremely professional and friendly personnel. I have the highest praise for the quality of work and knowledge of team members Bryan, Megan, Jeff, Ryan, Nick, and Jamie. I am excited and eager for Ameren to install my bi-directional meter.

shirley tillman: They did a good job, a bit chaotic at first, but they did get the job done on time. An accident happened with a wasp nest in the attic causing a hole in my ceiling. The guys said the company would send someone out to fix it (hence the four stars or I would have given five stars). I will update it when that happens.*****Update*****They had someone out within a few days and they fixed the hole perfectly. I updated the stars also.

The Checker Flag excavating subcontractors were easy to work with also.Here we are just past the shortest day of the year and the sun shines darn near 100% all day on the panels, even with the low angle at this time of year. Can’t wait to see the results in the summer when the sun is up high.Love the low profile of the panels. We have had many compliments, andit doesn’t ruin the country look of our barn.

benjamin Harris: Bryan Binkholder is a great Solar Consultant. He laid out every option available for me, broke down how much energy I would be using each month over the course of the year, how I would be credited from my local energy company, how to take advantage of solar tax credits, put to together a detailed quote and a short video that broke it all down, and whether or not solar was the best option for me. He didn’t try to lie to me or steer me to buy! He simply looked at my needs and made the best recommendation for me! He advised me at this time solar was not my best option, but down the road could definitely see solar as an option. I didn’t buy today, but will definitely return in the future to do business with Bryan and Rising Sun Solar.

Sharon Julson-Littig: Our ground built solar system was commissioned on March 29, 2022 and has worked less than 6 weeks consecutively. Yes, you read that correctly. EFS HAS been out to our home many times and every time they leave it is not fixed. Many times a different problem exists. It is beyond frustrating to not only have an electric bill but a solar loan as well with no plan or end on sight.If this nightmare ever ends we will update this review for future reference.

Alex Schaefer: Working with EFS to get solar installed has been a challenge. They are highly rated, competitively priced, and I believe this equipment is quality and expect it to perform well. That being said, the process to get the location of the array, permitting, inspection, and installation was not managed particularly smoothly at all. I had to call frequently throughout the process to follow up on things they said they would do. Often times it seemed as though the different departments within the company were not communicating or aware of what the other had done or were supposed to do. After I signed the initial contract, I referred them to my father, who paid a deposit, but my father rescinded the deal because he found that he was misled in regard to permitting being submitted. He was told it had been done, and it had not. The accounting department asked me for payment in full before installation had even taken place. Once installation was complete, I was sent a final invoice, and paid it. Only for them to come to me later to say that they had missed a payment and my commitment was not completed. From signing the contract in May, it took nearly 7 months to get the system installed and approved and actually generating energy. I chose them because of their high customer service and competitive pricing; however, I did not receive a very high level of service. If you decide to go with EFS for your solar, be prepared to be actively pursuing them to do the work that they say, in a timely manner, with proper local approval. Again, I do expect the system itself to be quality and a valuable asset to my home but getting to the finish line was rough.

Timothy Myers: System is over seven months old and not working properly. They come out, and still not working properly. Then they don't show up for months.

S. L. Hugh: Two years out from installation. Pretty happy overall. EFS was very good answering all my early questions. Installation was smooth and pretty close to their original estimate on timing. The system is now working well, and the few times early on when we had issues EFS was quick to solve them.There were a few unexpected issues, just communication-based, nothing of substance. Production was a bit lower than I expected, and when I asked about it, EFS showed me the "shade analysis" that was probably in the documents they gave me after we were all done, but which had not come up in the planning stages. It showed that shading would reduce production by 4-28% (depending on month and array) from the values shown in the initial quote. I don't think that would have changed anything if I'd known in advance, but would have been nice to see.The panels sit at a pretty low angle on our flat roof, 10 to 15 deg below optimal, and are not adjustable. I did not anticipate that, but this turns out to be standard for flat roofs so it is not an issue with EFS.There are complexities with matching panel output with inverter capacity that I did not initially appreciate. There are graphs on the web (which EFS referred me to) that try to explain this, but they are not particularly informative. The real issue is that inverter capacity is cheaper than panel capacity, and given that you only generate peak panel power for a few hours (around noon) and for a few months (around the summer solstice), it is cheaper (capital cost per watt-hour) to buy panels rated for higher power than your inverter. Again, not an EFS issue, though a last--minute change really confused me for a while.I'm actually hoping to add more panels to the system. With an electric car we are using more than we expected. We will use them again, if they respond to my email!

Syed Husain: They chase you to get the contract and pay $2000 for a non-refundable deposit and sign an LOI. After I paid the deposit and they did a site visit, I did not hear from anyone and there was absolutely no communication. After I ended up getting a hold of them, they said the agreed price would most likely increase. I tried to get my $2000 deposit back and I had to chase them and even spoke with the owner. They refused to refund the deposit because it was apparently “non-refundable”. Please BEWARE.

Kenneth Kriegshauser: I had a great experience with Jeremy from EFS Energy from the start. He made sure he answered all of my questions and made sure I knew what was going on as much as possible.The installation team was top notch and did a fantastic job putting everything up onto the roof and installing all the electrical. It was a very professional job and looks very good.After the system was fired up I noticed that it wasn't producing what I had been told. I called EFS and they came out to assess the problem. Turns out during a county inspection, a connector had been disconnected . We were back up and running in no time.My only complain was a scheduling error that required me to take extra time off of work. The owner apologized for the error and said they would make changes so this wouldn't happen again.I'm happy about the 10 year warranty and top notch service they provide. I would recommend EFS to anyone looking to get solar.

Randall Jennings: We had our system installed three years ago and what I appreciate the most is that their projections were practically spot on. I expected a vast oversell, but they were on the money.About 18 months in, our inverter died. I didn’t catch that until a couple of weeks later, but as I called in, they said the part had arrived. Next day, they swapped it out, no hassle, no charge (warranty). Their monitors had caught the problem and ordered a replacement on my behalf. Nice!

We liked the idea of going with a local company, and EFS fit that requirement, answering all our questions and concerns. Justin Evans and Janet Hazel were our primary contacts into the solar world, and they took the time to educate us on the benefits, limitations, and overall costs of having a solar power system installed on our home. Justin and Janet stayed with us throughout the engineering, construction and commissioning phases ensuring all paperwork, permits, and scheduling was done timely and accurately, coordinating the many facets of having a system installed and setting realistic expectations for completion. The overall process took several months due to all the moving parts, but the EFS Team was in constant contact with us via email, phone, or video calls. The construction team was very professional and knowledgeable and did their part well. The electricians did a phenomenal job installing the peripheral equipment and wiring required. The overall install easily passed local building and fire code inspections. Lastly, Enrique arrived on-site to do a final commissioning inspection and to ensure our operational questions were answered prior to turning the system on. Overall great experience and we highly recommend EFS Solar!

Don Smith: It has been 3 years since our solar system installation by EFS Energy and I just wanted to share our experience with the installation and with the subsequent electric production. The process went very well from bid to final install. The crew was professional, efficient and the quality of work was excellent. Our production since install has been pretty darn close to projections and I am really pleased and happy we made the investment. It's obviously a longer-term payback but I'm OK with that. And the feeling of environmental contribution and general peace of mind I get every time I I look at the panels in immeasurable. Rick Skibinski: EFS installed a solar system for us in 2019. The roof began leaking in March of 2021 and it took over ten phone calls to get the leaks and subsequent damage repaired.During this process it was discovered that EFS had reduced my plumbing vent and radon vent pipes from 3" to 2" and I confirmed with the local plans examiner that this was in violation of residential building codes. I have been in contact with the owner of EFS Paul McKnight and he committed he would have the problem corrected. Over twelve weeks later nothing has been fixed and no one is returning my phone calls.Although EFS places a 10 year warranty for their work in the contract, they do not back up that warranty with action. I have been forced to file complaints with the BBB and attorney general in order to seek relief and I cannot recommend anyone do business with this company.

My Energy Consultant, Austin Richards, walked me through the entire process and answered every single question I had. It was really cool to see the computer software show an overlay of my roof and calculate the energy production of each individual solar panel to maximize the efficiency for my specific property. The solar panel installers had all 23 solar panels up in a single day. They were immediately followed by Jeremy Weeke and his crew from Weeke Sales and Service who are true craftsman in their trade and made all the electrical connections neat and clean. Once Ameren approved everything, my solar panels were switched on and I am now up and running. This has been a lifelong goal of mine and this process was so simple and easy for me and was better than I could have dreamed for.

Vincent Huening: EFS Energy installed my residential solar array several years ago (2014), and recently (Spring 2018) they expanded the array by a few panels. In both projects, the project planners were very knowledgeable and technically savvy, and the installers have been very competent. So far, I've been very pleased with the consistent, reliable performance of the array. I'm also pleased with the response by EFS to issues that came up during installation and to any questions I've had after project completion, especially about array performance and maintenance.My only disappointment was in how fast the expansion project was completed. It took longer than expected to get permits approved, equipment ordered, and weather to cooperate, so I recommend scaling your expectations on timeliness, keeping in mind that demand for their services sometimes exceeds their capacity. In their defense, they typically work projects much larger than my recent expansion, and I'm grateful they made an exception to accept my modest project.Solar energy projects are long-term investments, so I suggest to those in the market for solar energy installations to shop wisely, considering not only the installer's reputation but also their staying power. That said, based on my two experiences, I recommend EFS Energy without hesitation as a company with staying power, committed to the long-term sustainable success of solar and alternative power for residential and commercial customers.
