Also they stated that they would come back a pin the edges and seed the seams but did not.

Andrea Ryan: John and Ron are outstanding. They were outstanding in their response to our initial call for help and they were outstanding in the job they did. We were being tortured by a sod installer that kept not showing up on continuously rescheduled days. We had dirt and mud as far as the eye could see surrounding our entire house and new irrigation that was ready for sod. And November coming fast. So we fired the guy who couldn’t get it done and then we had the massive stress of needing to find a quality installer that would be available with no notice and no time to build any rapport. My husband called several companies. Ron responded immediately, listened to our situation, and was at our house with his business partner John within a day. We were so impressed with how professional, knowledgeable, and efficient they were in figuring out the scope of the project and then moving fast to get the logistics in place to take care of us. We called them late in the day Thursday and they were laying top soil on 22,000 square feet of land Monday morning. Our top soil was nice and deep and our sod is beautiful. There were six or seven very hardworking men and Ron and John were working alongside them just as hard. They moved expertly and fast. They not only did an excellent job, but they were really nice people on top of it. Very respectful, friendly, and helpful. My carpenter asked his buddy on a ladder to help him move something large and one of the guys laying sod saw it. He ran up the hill and helped my carpenter so the other guy wouldn’t have to climb down from the ladder.John and Ron gave us beauty and peace after the craziest year of pandemic construction. Our sod is growing and we can use our yard this winter! Our gratitude is about as enormous as it gets. They saved the day and saved our sanity. My husband and I highly recommend St. Louis Sod Install. They do other things besides sod, as well, and we are already looking at Spring projects for them.

Darrin LaFever: I got some sod from Bob this week, and it was a very easy and hassle free process. Bob and his crew came out and finished the job in just a few hours. They even helped me fix my pop-up drains that had been buried by the builders and re-graded my very bumpy yard. They have very fair prices, and Bob was great to work with. They even tolerated my 6 and 3 year old sons very well that were very excited to see the tractors and guys working. After they were finished Bob gave me good instructions for watering to ensure the sod takes properly. Bernreuters was recommended to me by a neighbor, and I will pass that recommendation on to anyone who needs sod. Thanks for taking care of us! Highly recommended

Michael Schmitt: Beware this company. They backed out on us last minute; with one of the owner/operators specifically using the phrase over the phone, "F*&k it, i'm out".Bob Bernreuter quoted us installation of 1500 Sq Yds of sod back in early November 2021. We asked upfront for a written contract and offered a 1/4 down payment. Bob stated they do not use formal contracts and did not require down payments. We agreed via text to the sod price, and he gave us a general timeframe of early spring.We contacted him again in mid-Feb 2022 to ascertain sod installation timeframe and also ask about if they do french drain / drainage tile as well. Bob stated they do drainage; we reviewed my drainage requirements in person (french drain install with 275' of 6" drainage tile as well as three drop basins). I specifically called out in text and in person this was a french drain. He quoted us a price ($2500, which we accepted) and gave us an install timeframe of late March to facilitate installation of our asphalt driveway as well. The drainage had to be done prior to the driveway as part of the drainage would run underneath the asphalt. We booked the asphalt driveway install for early April.While he did not break down the estimate in detail, I gathered individual prices for typical french drain materials (e.g. perforated corrugated pipe, gravel, and geotextile fabric) and labor estimates to ensure his price was on par. Materials were around $1k (high price estimates from typical home improvement store, e.g. Home Depot), so probably cheaper for a contractor. I did high estimations for labor of two days (16 hours) of work for a three man crew at $20 an hour ($960). So, profit margin would be minimum 25% (~$1k materials, ~$1k labor, =$500 profit = $2500 total).As we had not heard from Bob regarding the drainage nor the sod, we reached out again on 15 Apr to get an update. He stated they would be out on 20 Apr to start the drainage install. The drainage pipe was delivered the afternoon of 19 Apr. I noticed the associated pipe was solid and NOT perforated corrugated pipe. As perforated pipe is required for a french drain, I sent a text to Bob the morning of 20 Apr asking about the use of solid versus perforated pipe. He replied in text, "solid pipe with three drains on top is what we are doing". I sent a reply text stating we had originally discussed a french drain.I then received a phone call from Bob. During the phone call, he quickly elevated his voice when I asked about the pipe and the rest of the materials required for a french drain. He then stated gravel and fabric were not part of the quote which I followed with 'how do you have a french drain without gravel and fabric'? After that question, Bob then stated "F*&k it, i'm out" and stated his people would come immediately to retrieve the piping delivered the previous day. They were also no longer doing the sod.Bob's installation of a french drain translated to digging a 275' long trench, dropping in the solid pipe and the catch basins, and covering it back up with dirt. That eliminates 1/3 of the material cost and 2/3 the labor cost bringing material/labor to $1100-1200 and the profit margin above 50 percent. If this was his idea on how to do drainage, I really wonder if I saved myself a head ache in fighting him over a sub-standard yard/sod installation as well.My advice if doing business with this company, get a contract and make sure it accurately reflects materials, scope of work, and time frame for completion, and if/when Bob refuses to provide this, then find a more reputable company. Otherwise, you may find yourself dealing with a person who addresses simple questions with hostility and a child's attitude.

James Schofield: We had a terrific experience with Bernreuter Sod Farm. We moved into a newly constructed house and the builder had sodded the front yard but only seeded the backyard. The builder did a lousy job of seeding and the backyard had lots of bare spots. A new house next to us was just finished and sold last week and the new owners paid the builder to sod their backyard instead of seeding it. I watched the Bernreuter crew lay the sod and was very impressed with how they did it. I went over and talked to their head guy (the owner's son) and asked about doing our backyard. He quoted me a very reasonable price and they did the job that afternoon. They did a great job and worked fast - didn't take them long at all. We have been watering the new sod every day and it looks great! So great that our neighbor on the other side has hired Bernreuter to sod their backyard this week. I highly recommend Bernreuter Sod Farm.

Always call a day ahead, I was able to pick up the same day, but this is not always the case. So just call a day ahead of time.Kurtz will be my "go to" for my new construction projects.
