Gian-Tony's Ristorante: what do users think?
Carl Hofer: Some of the best food I have ever had. Be bragging about your place. In a scale if 1 to 10 you rate a 18. Thank you 😊Kid-friendliness: Excellent
Amy Moses: Picked up Caprese salad to go, Tony was very sweet and salad was excellent. Appreciate that he came out to see if I wanted the dressing on side. Definitely going back!!
Rachel Sullivan: This place is a bit erie inside due to the dim lighting. The food is EXPENSIVE we came for dinner and for 6 ravioli yep that’s right SIX lobster ravioli for $29!!!!! Was it delicious? Yes! But not worth $29 for 6 lobster ravioli. The calamari has tentacles and it’s SO chewy bleh

Heather Hundhausen: This is my very favorite St Louis restaurant for 20 years. I had my rehearsal dinner here for my wedding in 2004, and the tortellini is still as amazing as it was back then!! I also really enjoy the toasted ravioli and the spumoni ice cream 🍨Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jeremy Brandt: Best restaurant on the hill!
Jorg Lueke: Gian-Tony's serves up classic Italian comfort food. I had scallops in cream sauce while my wife had a vodka penne with scallops. We also had seafood mushrooms and crostini as appetizers and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was cooked well, the seafood was properly seared and not overcooked. The sauces were flavorfully and rich if not refunded. In short everything tasted good but the prices charged are too much for good. They are fine dining prices for home cooking. The service was prompt, attentive , respectful and friendly. However there were some billing issues which the staff kept arguing over and addressing in front of customers which wasn't exactly professional. And some of the staff seemed tired at the end of the day, understandable but a negative as far as atmosphere goes. With no drinks our bill was $150 for two persons and that's too much for the quality and level of service we received.

Nathan Ryder: We were told The Hill was the place to get a great meal before a show at The Fabulous Fox Theater. Word of caution, there isn't much open for dinner on Sunday in this area. The restaurants that were either specifically named to us or we thought looked good online were all closed except Gian-Tony's. We made an early reservation and the place was nearly empty but within a few minutes it was filled to capacity. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was mediocre. We tried the seafood stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. The bread provided was nothing special. House ceaser salads before the main course has low quality lettuce, burned croutons, and was heavy on the anchovy in the dressing. For main dishes we chose the filet mignon and the seafood ravioli with scallops. The filet is served swimming in a dish of "filet sauce" which tasted like a creamy chicken broth. It wasn't enjoyable and at $42, the quality of the meat didn't match the price point. For $20 we got 5 large ravioli sprinkled with what looked like marshmallows but in reality were the tiniest scallops I had ever seen. We finished the meal sharing a tiramisu because I have to try every Italian restaurants tiramisu. It was light on the espresso flavors and heavy on sweet cream. Throw in 2 glasses of well-wine and it was $112 for a couple before a 20% tip. I was excited to try Gian-Tony's on our visit to St. Louis but will definitely look for something different on our next visit.

ashley sprinkel: Was not worth the price. The toasted ravioli, soup and salad were delicious. The Alfredo tasted bland like it was out of a jar. The carbonara was better than the Alfredo but still seemed from a jar. The chocolate crème brûlée was good. Jacob Lamont: Food bland. Wait staff pretty slow & not personable. I honestly don't leave reviews and felt the need for this one. I'm still at the table writing this. They're so cheap here they covered the table cloths with white paper so they don't have to clean anything.Italian restaurants should make you feel at home., feed you like your family. The only feeling I got while sitting there was the rush to get out and seat another customer (check).
Sara Kambouris: Best Boulognese sauce I've eaten in 30 years outside my own home.Caesar dressing was fresh, correct, and delicious.Ravioli was tasty indeed!Very professional waite staff as well;Outside dining was pleasant. It's hard to find excellent Italian and this is.Vegetarian options: There are enough vegetarian options for a choice.Parking: Street parking at 530pm was fine
David Destiche: Ate at the bar. Bartender & food were both incredible!
Nikki Doran: My husband and I moved to STL almost 10 years ago. We were recommended the restaurant and loved it so much that we never ventured out on The Hill. It easily became our favorite restaurant and the only place we frequent for special occasions. Highly recommend - don’t miss the tiramisu!
Anthony Giarrusso: Excellent food and great service. By far the best Italian on the hill. Highly recommend ..
L G: I came here from the arch for dinner because of the reviews. Ordered the shrimp scampi, came with a salad. Everything had no flavor. A little salt wouldn't hurt. The salad was blind and wilted, almost as though the dressing was on it for hours. The shrimp scampi was just as bland. Abhishek Mosalikanti: I usually finish my meal before I write down a review, but this has been a disappointment enough to do it as my meal wait for me on my table. The ambience reminds me of Olive Garden, but just a bit worse. Nothing about the experience commands the price tag on the menu, not even the food itself. We were greeted with some cold bread and packaged bread sticks that reminded my wife of flying with southwest. The cheese, the butter, the pasta, the sauce, absolutely everything about taste is subpar. I wouldn't pay more than $12 for a pasta here.It is such a miracle to see such a place exist today and command such high prices for sub par food while being decently occupied. I'm disappointed, very very disappointed. Would never return.

Dave Thompson: This is quite possibly the best food I have ever eaten. No kidding! We stumbled across this place while driving thought The Hill district and thought we would stop in for a slice. But this is WAY more than just a pizzeria. I had the Chicken Siciliano and my wife had the seafood ravioli. It's common for a few things to be good, but in this case everything was unbelievable. Our waiter Hugo was the best.Stop in. The owner will seat you. Prepare to be amazed.

Ranelle Rigney: First Italian Spanish Restaurant I've been to, and it was good. Needed light fare, and the Gazpacho and Guido's signature salad fit the bill. I got a large salad but should have ordered the small. Only thing I would do different is ask for the dressing on the side. Service was slow, but it's the perennial problem of not enough workers. Our server did a very good job considering all the tables she was covering.
Kimberly Piekutowski: A waste of time and energy.I received an email from Guido's telling me about their Paella. Unfortunately when you go to the website it tells you they are out of stock on everything. Why go when they have nothing to serve you.
Anthony Bevis: Great service, awesome old school atmosphere, and the best crisp crust pizza I can ever remember having!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes St Louis Style Pizza …More
Steve Collins: My wife & I had Mother’s Day dinner comprised of four tapas dishes: shrimp, beef kabobs, goat cheese & gazpacho. All dishes were delicious. Service was fast and friends. Enjoyed house Red wine. We will come back! Highly recommend.
Larkin Gamer: This place was actually really good. The baked spaghetti was easily some of the best spaghetti I've had, and the toasted ravioli was pretty good too. Overall a very nice experience at this restaurant, and it honestly wasn't too expensive. Very nice recommendation if you are in The Hill looking for something to eat.
Bridget H: First visit here and not likely to return. My daughter ordered chicken Parmesan that was pink. We sent it back and still, half of it wasn’t edible. There was no recognition of the error… in fact the waitress asked if she wanted a box. She had the personality of a rock and acted like everything was a bother. The pizza was amazing and we may consider ordering that to go but otherwise we were not very happy with the service.Parking: No parking lot. Street parking only.
Lora Lovinger: One of the worst meals we’ve had in Saint Louis - taste and service. They gave us the wrong orders and took almost an hour to fix. The food that was replaced tasted really bad and they refused to change or cancel after we waited for so long only to be disappointed.
Kalith Smith: Great lunch, fast service and wonderful ambiance.
Theresa Marie: I went there for a baby shower so I really didn't get to taste the pizza which I'm going back for. But the pasta, pizza, and chicken were excellentFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Raymond Mulitalo: We were in St. Louis for one night and wanted to try "St. Louis" style pizza. We are from the west and have never tried Provel cheese nor this style of pizza. We looked online and found this place that looked fun, so sort of blindly went to it.DID NOT DISAPPOINT!This place has atmosphere in spades and the food was excellent. I found the pizza sauce to be on the sweet side for my taste, but that is my taste and not a knock on the quality of the food. And shout-out to this local rootbeer. Best I've had in a while.I am a HUGE fan of this pizza, the local cheese, and more so of this awesome eatery. It was all delicious, including the salad. Can't wait to return and try the small plates next timeThe service was kind, friendly, efficient, and fun. Made the whole experience that much better.

J. Devoti Trattoria (Formerly Five Bistro): what do users think?

Sean Noll: We have a few "go-to" places that we can reliably depend upon. We've been 100% ok with the sort of quirky way this restaurant has been run, and have generally loved the food. Our last meal, however, was a huge disappointment. Our daughter was in town from college and we took her out to celebrate. The apps (and wine) were excellent, but the main course (ribs) were IMO inedible. They were both tough and so salted it was akin to some kind of thick jerky. None of us ate more than one bite. We had tickets at the Fox that night, so we really didn't have time to try for a replacement dish. I figured I'd call the restaurant, let them know the experience, and they'd make it right. So I called the following week. Never got a call back. Since they have a unique schedule, I thought I'd go the extra mile and just share my experience via email (to their general info inbox). Again, no reply. They pop up in my Insta fee a LOT, so I KNOW they are active on Insta. I sent them a quick "I bet you didn't see the email" message on Insta...again...nothing. We won't be back. A $200 life lesson for me.
William Keidel: Food is perfect. The menu is set, I wasn't able to find it online before we went so it was a surprise. They accommodated a vege option for us that was good. The price point is high. $60/plate. The ambiance is under par. A combination of music, people at the bar, loud talking in the kitchen wasn't ideal.Overall, delicious and high-end experience.
Steven Constantin: Great service, great food, great people
Lisa Gibbs: I don’t normally take time to post a review unless I have a great experience or a not so great experience. The positives: Lovely restaurant and a nice vibe. Our table of five enjoyed the bread and herb butter and the pickles and olive appetizer. Our server was kind throughout the service. Negatives: Our two pasta dishes were very bland, small portions and certainly not worth the price. Two of the three pastas available featured mushrooms and the other was vegetarian. I would suggest adding another option without mushrooms and with a protein. The Caesar salad was quite a large portion but lacked the Caesar anchovy bite. The dressing was pretty boring and flavorless and I think the dressing sat on top of the salad a little too long before it was served as the lettuce was kind of soggy.. The Margherita pizza was just bad - the crust was very burnt and the cheese and sauce lacked seasoning and taste of any kind. I had my husband try it and he would typically be happy with any pizza and he said it may have been the worst, most flavorless pizza he’s ever had. We had leftovers and didn’t even care to take it home. It took forever to get our main courses; I would guess it took an hour or more between the appetizers and main course so it was just a very long wait for a very disappointing meal. I think this restaurant has real potential but they need to work on making the fresh ingredients taste good and give people a reason to come back. I don’t think they did that tonight.
William Nash: Fresh pasta and cheese plate were awesome!
dahl1derrick: We went to this restaurant last night to celebrate my birthday. The server and I believe the restaurant manager were both very attentive and kind. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The bread was amazing. Delicious pasta!
Adam Sandberg: Our dinner, the tasting menu with wine pairing, was absolutely delicious! Service was very nice, everyone was so nice
GENERAL CRYPTOR: The Ravioli was gross and the rest of the food wasn't so good either. On a good note, the mushrooms taste like chicken wings which I guess is nice. Peace out ya'll!
astrohbot: The food is always incredible and the staff is always so friendly and quick. Highly recommend!
Paul Rueckert: Fabulous experience at this gem of a place. We chose the four-course tasting menu with wine pairings and couldn't have been more tickled with the meal. Reserve your table quick before this venue gets discovered by the masses.
Ansh Rana: I heard great reviews about this place so decided to give it a try. Our table ordered ravioli, pizza, and fettuccine. The food was not bad but average. Nothing to rave about, if you're looking for an authentic italian experience this is not one.
Sarah Goodman: Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at J. Devoti! Everything was locally sourced and delicious. Will definitely be back. Buon appetito!
Bryn Mia: The freshest ingredients prepared with great care. The service was above and beyond. We weren’t sure what to expect, but certain we’re will be back regularly.
Cindy M.: based on google reviews. It took us three hours to wait and finish 5 courses. Waiting time is 3 times of eating time! We were tired, cold, and still hungry after the 5-course taste menu. We had 2 scallops, 5 asparagus, 3-oz of pork, a couple of fried eggs, a bowl of cold soup, a small salad, and a desert (smaller than anyone you had in a restaurant
Amber Abbitt: My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on Mother's Day. We had the 4 course Mother's Day special. The courses consisted of a mushroom and cheese ravioli, caesar salad, either a steak or scallop entree and a chocolate cake with whipped cream and candied pecans. All of the food was very good. The service was great as well. The only issue we had was the portion size is on the smaller side. We eat tasting menus quite often, so it was a shame that both of us left the restaurant wishing for a little more to be content. They do have a 6 course menu so the portions may be perfect for that tasting experience.
Gary Hahn: Food was good and the staff was very friendly
John Hooser: The food and cocktails were amazing!!The ingredients were fresh and bursting with flavor!!I had the specialty pizza of the day with morel mushrooms.I also had an Aviator cocktail which is picturedThe service was excellent
Richard Hamilton: Freshness you can taste. Excellent service. Will be back again.
Garth Weihl: Wife had their burger and I had their ravioli. Both were delicious.

I don't care about the price. The quality of the food was not good at all. Not sure who is running the place now. Certainly not Lou. Very disappointing. Going to leave the memories of what is WAS in my head. Once I get the taste of todays lunch out! Disappointing!

Kathy Hart: I have always loved this restaurant since the 70s haven’t been there in many many years very disappointed that they have to charge $12 for me to bring a birthday cake and to celebrate with my family have no intentions of ever going back

Michelle Hall: It was incredibly dead for a Friday night. We might have been the people in the place. The service was spectacular. I had the veal marsala we were able to get white pasta instead of red for a $3 upcharge. It was worth it. My friend had the chicken marsala and also loved it. It was very affordable and yummy. My only complaint was the house dressing which was anchovy based. It was still edible but I don't know if I like anchovies. That's not their fault though. I tried something new and it just wasn't for me. I'd have liked a honey mustard, personally. Overall, very impressed. I'll likely visit again!
Michael Lindsay: Pizza is OUTSTANDING!!
Janet DeSmith: Boccardi's is a well kept secret. The anchovies salad dressing is unique. If you like cozy and understated it is a pleasant surprise.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Brian Theiss: I got the veal dinner with pasta and when it came out it was not even warm . There is not one person in this place you should be ashamed of yourselves!! That sat us back in a dark corner where you could here the microwave cooking food. Never again will I come back here! What a shame
Jordyn Robinson: Traveling from Oklahoma and had the best experience. Super friendly people and DELICIOUS food. The toasted ravioli and pizza are a must.
Jay Stern: Having had their pizza years ago, I really talked them up! and had the opportunity to share this pizza recently and they disappointed on every level. The order was completely wrong and the pizza was very small at the $22 price.. To top this off it was over cooked and still trying to get a solution.
Don: Our beloved little restaurant on hill has stayed it's welcome. My wife and myself have been eating here for over 30 years and will never return. Mr lou we have the most respect for but his daughter that has taken over will no longer be getting our business. To the owner please do not talk down to your hard working waitress in front of customers anymore . This is very unprofessional and ugly. This type of management tactics never work and will only hurt your bottom line. This will only hurt your integrity as a business woman. Please take this constructive criticism and use it to better yourself and your business. Remember this is not just Lilly's world
Mario Meyer: My husband and I decided to stop in on Friday evening around 7 for dinner. We were welcomed by the bartender and were sat promptly. The decor is absolutely stunning and provided a very intimate dining experience. We had an appetizer of toasted ravioli that were perfectly crispy. My husband had the Chicken Roma while I had the Godfather pizza and both were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The last time I had dined here was around 19 years ago and the quality of the food and service has certainly not diminished one bit.
Mac Harris: I went for a pick up one day and was treated like royalty. The lady behind the bar had great customer service and I will be back once I come back in town.
chewy gonzales: Oowe
Ashley Jones: The lady working was really nice, and our food was delicious. We will be back to try more of the menu.
