Alex G: Renting my apartment from Mark Jaffe has been an absolute delight and this is coming from someone who has rented from other agencies in St. Louis. They have been incredibly responsive (usually within an hour of my inquiry or immediately if something is urgent) and they're always helpful/considerate when I have questions or requests regarding the lease agreement. They regularly update us on ongoing maintenance or just general advice on heating or cooling throughout the year. I'm writing this because it's difficult to find a trustworthy landlord in general, so I'm happy to steer folks toward the Jaffe group. It is just a relief to rent from a group that is actually considerate. Thanks!
Samantha Isidro: M Jaffe company is excellent with communication. Colleen and Tena were very helpful with my move-in especially since my move was so last minute. They addressed and solved any problems I had within the first week. Even with my move-out process, Colleen and Tena have been more than accommodating and really made the process stress-free. They are always quick to respond (usually within 30 minutes or less) which always made me feel like I was taken care of. I have lived here for about a year and they have a great, efficient team. Any maintenance requests I put in were typically resolved that same day. The apartment itself is a perfect size for one person with in-unit laundry (which is difficult to find!) and gated parking. It is clean and the building is always quiet. Location is great as it is quick walk to Forest Park. They also recently added a grocery store across the street, which is a huge plus. I have truly enjoyed living here!
Dylan Roman: If there is no damage to the property, then there is no claim to a security deposit. We were there for three years and they never maintained the property, then tried to charge us from our rental deposit for regular wear and tear for the next tenant. I would suggest documenting everything if you rent from them.
Xuan Han: I consider this company the hidden gem of Debaliviere place. They are very professional and the prices for their rentals were great value compared to some of the luxury apartments nearby. I rented for a year from them and everything from repairs to upkeep was excellent. Office staff was highly responsive. If you are looking for a clean quiet place, with a professional company, but without the cost premium of luxury apartment companies, I'd definitely recommend these guys.
Michael Poremski: I have lived in one of the Jaffe buildings for several years. I can say, without hesitation, that they have been the best management groups of all the complexes I have lived in.The staff, from top to bottom, is outstanding! Calls get answered politely and can usually give a quick response. When they cannot, they give you a good idea of when to expect a response. The maintenance staff is just as good. They show up at the assigned time, do a quick analysis, and give you a good idea as to when the work, if any, will be finished. They are quick and very clean, always cleaning up after themselves.That is enough for now. I have nothing but applause for the staff and would hire them in a heartbeat! Great job, well done!

Amy Cui: I had a unique experience in my year renting a property in the CWE. I rented during COVID and I had a good experience overall. However, Tena went waaay beyond expectations to help me this last summer, when I realized I forgot my bridesmaid's dress after driving 7 hours out of St. Louis...I called Tena in desperation and asked if she would help me get my dress somehow, and she was so eager to help me however she could, even though she had no obligations whatsoever to do so. She drove to my apartment and got my dress, took it to FedEx to try to ship it, answered a series of crazy phone calls and eventually drove 25 minutes away from my apartment to hand my dress to a wedding attendee. There is no way I could have done it without Tena and I'm forever grateful to her for saving my friend's wedding!!!

Christina Kruger: I have had major problems with this company beginning 2.5 months after moving in at the start of August 2019. If you have seen a prior positive review from me of this company, it is because they required a positive review stating I was “content” and renewing for another year in order to renew mid-pandemic when I otherwise had nowhere else to go. Here’s a list of the issues I faced throughout my tenancy:Insufficient Heat - The radiators on the upper floors were not hot or even warm when temperatures outside were 40 degrees. My apartment was regularly below 60 degrees. After contacting the landlord about this, they told me I could leave if I didn’t like it.Lack of hot water/shower - The shower stopped working for 3 months. There was either a dribble from the shower or a trickle of only freezing cold water. I had to shower at my gym instead.Wasps - In both Spring of 2020 and 2021, I had at least 12 wasps come into my bedroom. They came in both during the day and a few at night, and again the landlord told me I could deal with it myself or leave (March 2020). A pest control company was allowed only after I offered to get quotes and schedule it myself. This year, 2021, I asked the landlord to spray again for wasps and he cancelled the appointment after agreeing to let them spray.Lack of building security - The entrances to the building are not consistently locking and secure. People have tried breaking through indoor locks with screwdrivers and have also stolen packages.Tenant falling from balcony - My neighbor fell through the railing of an unsecured 6th floor balcony accessible to all in the building in May 2021.The unit is pretty, and the area is too. But I would never have signed a lease with this company if I had known the issues and stress I’d face here. I can’t wait to leave.

The unit I stayed in was a studio in the Central West End, great walkable neighborhood. It’s an old 1920’s building but it’s well kept and updated with modern paint colors before I moved in. Maintenance was always on top of any request I had. I would definitely did not want to leave but got my own house.

The apartment was charming, pet friendly, fully fenced yard, and in a great location in the Central West End. Great price for the location too!Can’t say enough good things about Colleen and Tena in the main office, always so helpful and quick to respond. The owner Mark is easy to get in touch with, and every maintenance worker has been quick to assist and extremely kind.My building was definitely old, but it had a lot of charm. My unit wasn’t updated but it has all of the older fixtures that probably went back to the 50s. Super cute studio, only moved because it was personally a little too small for two people and our goldendoodle. I would recommend this management company to anyone!
Kelsie Pixler: Absolutely do not rent from this company. By far and away the worst move-out experience I have had. They told us 24 hours before move-out that they would charge 5$ per nail hole and hold us responsible for the nail holes present at move in (59 holes to be exact). Also, they willingly broke lease terms and did not initially respond when we asked to be present at our final inspection. They completed the inspection, and then we had to tell them that we had already requested to be present.If you all are thinking about renting here, please contact me, and I will gladly send you copies of the email exchanges that we have had with this company.

Arman Odabas: I have renewed my lease with Jaffe and Co twice now and have had a very positive experience living in a Jaffe property. The building is safe and in a good neighborhood, and is kept clean with all utilities in good working order. The apartment has a charming character with many of the original fittings. The appliances were all in good working order when I moved in and maintenance requests were all taken care of promptly. Colleen and Tena have always been responsive to my emails and once when I had to call after hours Mark picked up the phone himself to help me out. I would recommend Jaffe properties to any friends, especially students who want to live in the Central West End, as the rent is unbeatable for the neighborhood.

laurie smith: Green Street Real Estate Ventures.....No matter which version of their name you read about, they offer a company motto of " they don't build buildings they build businesses " What they don't say is that they step on and crush small businesses so they have to close their doors which leaves other businesses hanging. Not knowing where they can get the product and services they need with the excellent quality and dedication that St.louis Woodworks has provided for over 30 years could really put other businesses in a pinch too! Not to mention the employees who maybe out of work.They use their money and clout to push the little people out of the way, paying off or contributing to the decision makers so things go their way. They do anything to further their goals even putting the employees at St.louis Woodworks in danger by starting demolition on a section of the building next to where St.louis Woodworks employees work, with no concern for their safety and well being. Green Street Real Estate Ventures is a prime example of what we don't need.

I felt very safe, very secure, and anytime anything went wrong as things do from time to time Elevate was incredibly responsive. Whenever routine maintenance needed to be scheduled, the staff was incredibly communicative, and I found the portal to which I managed my rent payments and service requests incredibly user friendlyI definitely would not hesitate to rent from them again if I had not bought a house.

Gorgeous dark wood interior, 3 fireplaces, and all new appliances (washer, dryer, refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher). Property managers and staff were incredibly attentive over the years, whether it be routine maintenance or simple inquiries. My neighbors have all been warm and welcoming people, so it has felt very much like a suburban neighborhood, with all the benefits of having Soulard just a short walk away and highways warranting a short commute. I feel very fortunate to have called this place “home” the past 3 years and will truly miss my experience here.

Miles: Unforunate that companies like this have some much power and influence over our communties. I was able to witness the Broadmoor Group take over an apartment complex in Eureka, MO and quickly change the vibe. They immediately inflated price and had a mass exodus of tenants, in a largely older population, which is just sad and depressing. I believe in captalism but when a company is so blantantly all about the money it's just leaves that sour taste in your mouth. I recommend renting from private owners vs these money/lawyer machines.
Alexei Bieber: Absolutely disgusting and immoral company. I would never do business with this company and would not recommend anyone else. In the world we live in today, they believe it’s okay to buy/take over an apartment complex and tell residents that when their leases end that they can only renew if they move into one of the newly renovated units that are $500-700 MORE than they pay already. This is displacing so many individuals and families. It’s disgusting how businesses like this are able to operate. No morals.

Our dogs are emotional support which can’t be rejected and i’m not sure if they just been putting up excuses but me and my boyfriend make more than enough never had problems with an apartment complex and always paid bills on time. They just keep using this pet screening thing to accept other applicants. Which in 2 months we where never fully aware of it and per our emotional support doctor a pet screening isn’t usually needed for our dogs. We need to move may 14th and currently we are on april 25th we have a child and one on the way and can’t find a place to stay so soon due to us being all wrapped up with this company. Never again. Ofc they accepted again a new applicant over us for the 3rd time and claim if anything opens up they will let us know.then he so happened to text us saying he forgot to mention the pet screening process even though we have been in contaxt for a long time and knew since day 1 we had pets

nicole whitfield: This company is very disgusting and disrespectful to paying tenants. Especially Melissa and Kara Cummins. I absolutely despise doing any type of business with this company and would advise that others avoid them at all cost. There has been a maintenance issue every month since I signed my lease in August. There is a disgusting smelly leak in the bathroom that has went unattended for months. Fast forward to last week, Jay (who has always been professional and nice) came to do a walk through due to harassment and false accusations made by my neighbor. He noticed the ceiling and couldn’t believe it has been like that, even asked if I put in a maintenance request to have it fixed. I did and Kara responded very dismissively with no definitive answer, as it’s obvious she’s uncouth and doesn’t have an ounce of professionalism. Now that Jay has seen the extensive damage, it’s all of a sudden being attended to. The apartment has so many cracks and painted over leaks. Pics are attached below.

He and owner, Riahna negotiated a solid price with fair commission and absolutely had my back the whole time. CLee West: It's not an unfair review when you treat tenant's poorly and respond negatively to reviews. Having your employees leave reviews is a huge misleading representation. I have seen the mold and mildew inside my sister's unit and inside this building. Perhaps be more respectful to your tenants and they wouldn't call you out.

But by me being young black male with dreads I make over 38,000$ a year and the apartment is only 565$ a month I could definitely afford it, but I was denied and then never got a email or denial letter. I felt like they just took my application money know they would except me... Andrew didn’t even want to see my paycheck stubs.. He definitely might be racist...

Trace Welsh: I used your parking at Laclede's Landing today. ($3.00 per hour $12.00 all day) I was parked there for less than an hour and I was charged $75.00! I still have my ticket with the time printed on it and a screenshot of my bank statement which shows the time. If this shady tactic is normal for you, then that's on you. Joel Rutherford: Local, on-site management team that responds quickly to maintenance requests. I lived in their building downtown and it was very secure, with onsite amenities that are well maintained. Highly recommend.
Mark Joe: I live in their Peper Lofts building and, not only is the building amazing, the management and even ownership are all super present and friendly. We have 2 dogs and the building is very accommodating with a doggy pad in the roof. Love it

Art Vandal_A: Seems they really dont want people renting their properties. Called and left a message after sitting on hold for 5 minutes, never got a call back. Sent an email inquiry got one response after a few days, that I responded to immediately. Have now not heard back for over 10 days. Terrible, but good to know Im dodging a bullet. Can only imagine how terrible this would be if I were currently renting, and had an issue.
