Watson Martial Arts: what do users think?
Jacob Rich: I was visiting St. Louis and dropped into a couple classes at Watson Martial Arts. Everyone was very kind to me and their fellow teammates. Not only is the gym enormous, full of amenities and very clean, but the instruction here is unmatched. I enjoyed the gamification of learning and personalized approach to gaining new skills. If I lived in within an hour of St. Louis it would be a no brainer to train here.
James Randorff: I was visiting St. Louis on business (coming from North Chicago), and I asked my coach if he had a gym recommendation in the area. Without hesitation, he recommended Kyle Watson’s gym. I got in touch with Kyle, and he invited me to join in any of their classes while I was in town, without requiring a mat fee.The gym facilities are very nice and kept clean. The culture of the coaches and students is very healthy and respectful, with no egos at all. Everyone is there to learn, to help, and to have fun.I attended two classes and learned a lot I did not know about collar-and-sleeve open guard. I got to train and roll with quite a few excellent folks, and picked up several good tips from Kyle as he walked around the gym.If you are ever in St. Louis and looking for a place to train, I give Watson Martial Arts my highest recommendation!
lucas wilcox: Dropped in for a advanced BJJ class while I was in town. Very friendly staff and students. Great instruction!
Lauren Clark: Great gym with great ownership. Highly recommend
Rich Sholar: 👐
David Smith: I was visiting St. Louis from Vancouver and looking for a place to train while I was in town. Kyle and the team at Watson couldn't have been better hosts. They have built a fantastic gym and culture and I would absolutely recommend Watson to anyone regardless of skill level.
Kody Flamm: I joined the free Muay Thai lesson yesterday and wow - what a great experience. Kyle was extremely nice & helpful. To say it was a great workout is an understatement! I’d highly recommend this gym - this is such a great place to be introduced to the huge world of martial arts. You will not regret learning these valuable lessons and you get a great sense of accomplishment when you’re done. I’ll be trying out BJJ next week and I cant wait. Props to everybody involved! Very beginner friendly gym.
Tj Muncy: While traveling to the area from Florida I was able to drop in for a class while in town. Friendly group of people and nice facilities. Great instructor’s, nice details while teaching and very helpful. I had a great experience. Thanks Kyle for letting drop in.
Ali Boussaffa: I was in business trip to St. Louis and picked Watson Material Arts gym to work out during my stay. I was impressed by the hospitality of Kyle who welcomed me and give a tour, everything was clean an organised, coaches very knowledgeable, very professional staff. I highly recommend Watson MMA.
Jason Stewart: Great people very welcoming a wealth of knowledge on that mat I appreciated the time
Charles Harriott: I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful facility in St Louis as a guest instructor and was not disappointed. Owner Kyle Watson has built a massive professional gym. From striking to fitness to grappling it's all under one roof in a laid-back environment. His students are fun and welcoming. There are all levels from beginner to expert with a large number of black belts on the mat. I enjoyed my visit especially my roll with Kyle and hope to be back soon.
Gerard Albo: Visiting St Louis for work and was honored to train with Professor Matt! Awesome gym, great vibes, great training, highly recommended!! Thanks again for having me 🙏
Lucas Mooney: My friends and I dropped in for a no gi class about two weeks ago while on a road trip. The facility was amazing and the instructor was welcoming and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this gym for anyone in the St.Louis area!
Vincent Harvey: Dropped in for a midday class. Good facility (lots of mat space, showers) and great instruction details. Will come back next time I'm in town
jeremy fernandez: If you want to learn jiu-jitsu in the St Louis area this is the place for you. The instruction is always very well thought out with a healthy balance of technique and dad jokes. Everyone in the room is very helpful and welcoming whether you're brand new or have been training for years.
Praveen Prabhakar: Been training here for about 4 months now. The facility and the instructors are great. Everybody is very friendly. They have beginner classes as well so it's easier to learn the basics. One of the best places to train and learn in St. Louis.
ELIAS HADDAD: Cool dudes
Josh Raben: Great people, with a welcoming team atmosphere, and some tough rolls. For any new comers there's a beginners class so don't be worried about coming in!
Leonard Johnson: Been here going on 3 years: Great atmosphere, great training partners, great training, great coaches. Definitely worth checking out.
Alets Gomez: I was on a work trip in St Louis and had a tournament a week later and did not want to miss any training sessions, so I called WMA and spoke to Kyle, he was great from the start, I arrived there and everyone was awesome, from Kyle, to Devlin, and all of the training partners, there is definitely great level in the Gym and everyone is willing to help. Whenever I'm back in St Louis will definitely return to WMA. Btw Thanks Kyle for the support!!
Guille J: I have been a part of Watson’s martial arts for about two months now. It is such a welcoming and encouraging environment. My favorite thing about the studio is the great amount of different classes available. You can come and stay there all afternoon if you would like! Professor Kyle takes his time to personally get to know every student and it is clear that he is very knowledgable in martial arts. Other students are also very friendly and I have never encountered any issues. If you are thinking about trying it out: Stop thinking about it and come check it out!

World Martial Arts Academy-SoCo: what do users think?
Mrs. H: Great place with great teachers! My son is in the high belt class now with varrying age groups and they all work together and help each other. I love the values they teach the kids. My son has learned confidence, personal responsibility, and respect of yourself and others. Highly recommended!
Darren: If you're interested in learning Taekwondo, then look no further---THIS is the premier school in the area! It's simply an outstanding school of martial arts in every way. So much so that I've gone TWICE---once as a kid, and again as an adult with my own kids! Master Fitch has been with the school since I was a kid and is truly a master of the art and its principles. In addition to learning the martial art of Taekwondo, students will learn courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit (the five tenets of TKD). You will become a better person in every way. Masters Fitch, Marla, and all the other instructors provide the absolute best environment and structure for becoming a martial artist in body, mind, and spirit. You will feel better physically and mentally. You'll feel proud of your growth as you move through the belt system, because you'll have worked hard to earn it. It's such a great feeling. And if you have kids, I cannot recommend enough taking classes with them. It's a fun, physical, and engaging thing to do with your children. You'll have something in common to practice and discuss at home, and something to do together every week. And it's accessible to all ages, bodies, genders, etc. Anyone can do it. And there's frequent trial specials and discounts going on, and NO contracts, so you really have nothing to lose if you give it a go. So go for it! Hope to see you there!
SugarXxX PlumXxX: Great school!
thy le: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMaster Fitch is so nice and professional, everyone here is friendly and courteous. Highly recommended to learn Taekwondo here
Anela Draganovic: Great place for the kids! Love the staff.
Andrea Coleman: Our family absolutely loves this academy! The entire staff and leadership team stand firm on respect and professionalism! I most certainly would recommend!
Brett Doyle: The training is good exercise for the kids. They have a lot of fun and it teaches them discipline.
4EN: Great place for the kids👍👍and adults👍👍👍
Patricia J.: I can't believe there aren't more reviews for this place. My almost five-year-old daughter just loves it. The trainers are so good with kids. I think what I like best is that it's one price and she can go as often as she wants. They also offer fun activities outside of class and keep it exciting and FUN. Keep up the great work, thanks!
Tony Ellard: My whole family attends classes and we love it. There's no set schedule so you can attend the nights are able. The teachers are family and kid friendly and it's a great place to learn and workout!
Krista Barmann: Absolutely great place for kids and adults. A wonderful place for your kids to not only learn discipline respect and protection, but they have lots of fun as well.

Arch Taekwondo: what do users think?
Shawn Williams: Excellent instruction and highly trained masters, all Kukkiwon certified.
Elspeth Hill: I joined Arch Taekwondo in the summer of 2017 having never done any martial arts before. It has been an excellent experience, both in terms of overall fitness, as well as learning basic techniques and self-defense. Master Thimangu is an world-class instructor. The Arch Taekwondo dojang welcomes adults of all ages and abilities, and the flexibility of the classes fits with a tight working schedule. If you're thinking about trying martial arts, you can test it out with a free class - that's how I got hooked. Highly recommended.
TC Parsons: Arch Taekwondo is an excellent place to learn taekwondo, practical self-defense, and get in shape. The atmosphere is friendly, and Master Thimangu is great at connecting with each student's abilities and goals. Through my time at Arch TKD, I have lost over 40 pounds, and have continued to challenge and improve myself both inside and outside of the dojang.Come grow with us.EDIT: 2 years after I posted the above review, I have lost an additional 35 pounds (75 pounds total), and continue to enjoy coming to class to learn new techniques, or better master basic techniques. I am now by far in the best shape of my life, and I continue to learn and enjoy training at Arch TKD.Its just fun. Come try out a free class!EDIT: Another couple of years have gone by, and I'm now down 100lbs, and am, for the first time in my life, a normal weight for my size. Seriously, put down the phone you are reading this and get over to Arch!
James Giles: Outstanding classes with very flexible times that suit my erratic work schedule. Master Thimangu is an excellent teacher, and his dojang is also a fantastic facility. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Elise Marie: My son has been coming here for over a year now, and it has been so good for him. Master Thimangu is excellent with the kids and my son has really been challenged in a good way. My son enjoys going twice a week and he has learned so much. It has been wonderful to see the other students grow over the past year as well. We found Arch Taekwondo through a strong recommendation from another family and I, in turn, cannot recommend Arch highly enough as well.
John Meara: I have been going to Arch TKD since the doors opened four years ago. I briefly tried other TKD places, but none compare to the experience at Arch. I started with little training, no flexibility and a very tight working schedule. Not much to work with for Master Thimangu. I am now soon testing for a 2nd degree black belt…all due to the training and environment at Arch TKD.If someone bet me I would be training for TKD a couple times a week 30 miles from my house for 4 straight years, I would have lost that bet. The reasons I keep coming back are twofold. One, the training is geared around my level. I am constantly being pushed by others who are equally trained and continue to pull more out of me. The other is the customization and variety we get with Master Thimangu’s training. Some days when I feel I have something mastered, I realize I am just starting to learn. It is humbling and exciting at the same time. I realize how far I have come over 4 years and even more excited about where I will be 4 years from now. Thank you Arch TKD and Master Thimangu.
Michael Pruett: If you're looking for instruction in martial arts, look no further. But, be forewarned: This is NOT Taekwondo-Lite!!Master Thimangu is a focused and accomplished Taekwondo instructor who will elicit the very best from you. He expects nothing less from his students, as well as himself. He has a unique ability to tailor a program for the individual, while maintaining the full integrity of the art. I'm closing in on 60 years old, and am in better shape than I've ever been in.I've "been around the block" a few times and have had the good fortune of being able to study various styles of martial arts for over 40 years. My studies have been primarily focused on the Korean and Okinawan "hard" styles, having earned Black Belts in two styles of Taekwondo. Master Thimangu's teaching style is what keeps me coming back.Demanding, exacting, dedicated; the descriptors can go on ad infinitum. But, in my opinion, Inspirational is what comes to mind most. He understands his students and teaches them to use their strengths to overcome their weaknesses. At the end of the day, I'm proud to have him as my instructor. But, I'm even more proud to have him as my friend.
Gregg Favre: The quality of instruction at Arch TKD is what sets the school apart from cookie cutter martial arts studios.Master Thimangu's ability to tailor his instruction based on the needs of the individual student provides meaningful class experiences regardless of rank and/or athletic ability. From public safety professionals to soccer moms, Arch Teakwondo provides a training facility and world class instruction that helps athletes from all ranges and abilities harness their power.
Olivia Knowles: I started training at Arch TKD (a world TKD federation [WTF] school) after having some experience at another place that was part of the international TKD federation [WTF]. One of my favorite things about my old school and about the art of TKD in general was the emphasis on proper technique of every kick, punch, and block. Master Thimangu does a great job of breaking down each technique into its components to ensure that you have a good grasp on exactly what you're doing. This cuts down on injury, makes you more powerful, and also makes your techniques more aesthetically pleasing :) I thought that Master Thimangu made the transition from ITF to WTF a good experience.I also love that Master Thimangu really works with each student at the level they are at. If you are a yellow belt but you show up to class regularly and you've proven that you know all the basics he will push you further to learn more advanced techniques. Likewise higher ranking belts are always reviewing the basics in order to ensure that we don't forget them, and to give us experience in helping to teach the lower ranking belts.Regardless of where you are in your training, I think you'll get a good workout, learn more about the art of TKD, and make some good friends along the way at Arch TKD.
Charles Tran: Many of us consider taking up martial arts at some point in our lives. But for one reason or another, we excuse ourselves from this wonderful opportunity.“I don’t have the money.”Master Thimangu’s passion is teaching. He will do his best to accommodate your financial situation. Proof is in the number of undergraduate and graduate students who attend.“I don’t have the time.”Class is specifically organized around the 8 to 5 schedule many of us live. There are morning and evening classes as well as weekend classes. Attend whatever combination of classes best fits your dynamic lifestyle.“I’m too old/out of shape.”Members range from age 6 to age 65 and come from all walks of life. The majority of the members are over age 25; many are over age 40. Master Thimangu personalizes each session according the attendees’s capabilities and goals. All he requires is wholehearted effort.“I don’t have the energy after work.”As you improve your health and conditioning, you’ll find yourself having more energy and being less worn down at the end of the day. But exercise is an investment; you will need to invest some time and energy to get into shape. And that takes self-motivation and self-discipline, which martial arts will teach you, but ultimately requires that you take the first step.“I’m not sure that I’ll like it.”You can try the first class for free. You owe it to yourself to try. You’ll get great exercise, learn practical skills, meet interesting new people, and most importantly have tons of fun doing it.
Scott Harrison: I always wanted to learn martial arts and self defense but was a little reserved and hesitant to try out some place where I did not know many people. Arch Taekwondo completely removed those fears and welcomed me into their family with open arms. Master Thimangu is a world class teacher and the members of Arch Taekwondo encourage, challenge, and support one another as a true family would. If you are thinking of martial arts there is no better place in St. Louis than Arch! Many thanks to all the Arch members for making it a special place to train and learn.
Eric Greitens: Arch Taekwondo is an exceptional place to learn a martial art. The head instructor, Master Thimangu, has built a dojang that welcomes and trains adults of all abilities and helps them to meet their goals. Some of the people who train at Arch Taekwondo are accomplished athletes, military veterans, and firefighters.Others have never trained for a sport, or have been away from athletics for a very long time. No matter their background, everyone trains in an atmosphere that is both focused and friendly. Some Arch Taekwondo students have won National Championships, others have lost forty pounds. Everyone emerges in better shape and better able to defend themselves.Whether your interest is in earning a black belt, learning practical self-defense, or just getting in shape and meeting other great people, Arch Taekwondo is worth a visit. It's a very welcoming atmosphere, and Master Thimangu always lets people take their first class for free. What matters most in martial arts is the quality of the instructor who will teach you and the quality of the fellow students you will train with. Arch Taekwondo is exceptional in both regards.

World Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?
Robert Brumit: I remember my daughter attending class at this academy. It was so nice seeing her train there in a family friendly place. It had to be about 10 plus years ago. I still remember her very 1st day. She was in the middle of a room with several adult males around her who were screaming high ya's. She started to cry. Master Winkler stopped everything and walked to her. Asked for her hand and had a young boy she new to go to another room to help calm her down. Master Winkler is a true gentleman and an awesome teacher. From that day forward my daughter wasn't scared and enjoyed his teachings. I would recommend this place and teacher to any family. God bless!Mr. Brumit
Dorothy OToole: Great place to learn Tai Kwan Do. I took my granddaughter to her lesson. I also went thete today to see her win her black belt.
Ginalyn Ruder: This is a great place for all of us, my husband and 2 children. Master Winkler is an amazing man and teacher. Master Parker and Mrs. Master Winkler are awesome too. This is one great way for our entire family to bond and spend valuable time together.
Justin Ruder: Excellent instructors and family friendly
World Martial Arts Academy Hazelwood: The people are what make it GREAT!!
Sam G: When first joining we thought this was the place. The atmosphere seems family friendly and fun, something arises and you then you get to see their real character.Upon joining WMA William never mentioned he has a contract. He SOLD it to us that he uses a third party process payment center. He NEVER mentioned that HE has a zero cancellation policy. (Out of pure greed) . My son, whom has severe ADHD, we thought he would thrive with Tae Kwon Do. He did not. It caused more anxiety than it is was worth. Amongst that, we also ran into life and trying to relocate but we are unsure where as well as work. I have explained this to William (owner of gym) numerous times I placed a call.to the payment processing center and they explained there is an $100.00 cancellation fee, which I offered to pay. He is using sneaky sales tactics without explaining anything to trap his clients into an unknown contract. He has had ample opportunity to do the right thing and he refuses.
Aaron Tuttle: My son and I attend the World Martial Arts Academy. I enjoy the sport, training and quality time I am able to share with my son. It is beneficial to have Master Winkler, Mrs. Master Winkler, Master Parker, and Carolyn as well as the other many students focusing on the importance of respect and self-discipline. My son not only hears the importance of these values from other adults he respects, but he enjoys attending. At four years old, he felt comfortable enough to stay overnight for one of the regular lock-ins. I was nervous; he was not. He stayed the whole night.
Jerry Adlersfluegel, Jr.: Very family friendly atmosphere. I was nervous about joining up with my middle-schooler a couple of months ago, but there are plenty of other parents attending, which put me at ease. I'm glad we found out about WMAA.
k skiver: My son recently started Tae Kwon Do and he is really enjoying it. Master Winkler and his staff are patient and the classes are fun and energizing.
eli butcher: I now have several kids going now, and they all love it! They learn respect, technique, self defense, and always have something to work towards. Master Winkler and the other staff are always welcoming and knowledgeable, and have made our family feel welcome. I'd recommend ANYONE to attend, as it's absolutely worth it.
Padraic: Great place for adults and kids to learn and have fun.
tina marti: We Love World Martial Arts academy of Crestwood. Master Winkler is by far one of the absolute BEST teachers out there, without a doubt! When you LOVE what you do, you do it well. It clearly is his passion to teach and he teaches his students well. He and his family will not only teach you the right way, they will treat you truly like a part of their family! I would highly, highly recommend them and would give them more than 5 stars if I could.
Heather Schwantner: We love World Martial Arts!! Master Winkler is amazing and so engaged. The entire team truly love what they do and it shows! We are so lucky to have found world martial arts and the Winkler family!!
Pamela Wiegand: I am so thank for World Martial Arts Academy -Crestwood and the Winkler family. I enrolled my granddaughter thinking she would have something to do over the summer. The people here are great and welcomed her. She does really well and loves to go to class. Seeing her enjoyment, I too joined 3 months later. It is a great workout. I look forward to attending as often as possible. If you are looking to add to your workout routine, I highly suggest coming in and speaking to Master Winkler!
Mom's World: Master Winkler and the rest of the team are awesome! They are friendly, welcoming, and really do a great job with the kids!
Gary Heebner: I have been taking lessons at WMAA on Watson Road for several years. The instructors are friendly and do a great job of teaching ADULTS and are also great with the kids. It is really great to see how much the kids learn in such a short time (focus, confidence, discipline). The staff also have a great deal of expertise in sparring, traditional forms, and weapons techniques. A great place for kids and adults!
Rama Suresh: Master Winkler, Master Suzanne and Master Parker are awesome! My son has enjoyed being part of this Dojang for the last 3 years. They emphasize the 5 tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Self control, Perseverance and Indomitable Spirit. The students enjoy coming to this Dojang and the atmosphere is friendly and warm. The Masters put in an effort to make sure each student develop at their individual pace. Safety is emphasized. Master Winkler rewards good behavior (at home and school) , and good grades as much as he does Taekwondo. My son has not only learned Taekwondo but has also become a better child by attending the Dojang.
Kathleen Everetts: My daughter is 11 yrs old now and she been taking tkd since she was 6. She is now working towards her 2nd dan. She loves it and has learned valuable skills she can carry with her for the rest of her life. The staff at the dojang are skilled and knowledgeable in their craft. A very friendly and family like atmosphere. They go the extra mile to turn out quality black belt students. I would not hesitate to recommend this dojang to anyone considering martial arts. Thank you master Winkler, master Suzanne, master Parker and miss Caroline.
B M: My child currently attends World Martial Arts Academy on Watson Road. The dojang reinforces the same values that we teach at home while instructing it's students in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do.The instructors are the kinds of people that you want your child to be around, like aunts, uncles, cousins. They are serious and encouraging at the same time. Focused on teaching and wanting to make sure they develop a well-rounded student. It is through the instruction of the martial art that they being out the best in the student.
Andy Stann: Master Winkler, Master Mrs. Winkler, Master Parker and Carolyn...most importantly they are great people. But they also know Taewkondo! Our son has had an incredible experience and loves going! They make it fun. Great way for the kids to develop esteem, motor skills and discipline.
John Moresi: Got my blackbelt from here in 2012, still coming back as the teaching is top notch and the staff are great!

Jake Foster: Our son loved his first day! We will be back indefinitely. I can't wait to see him grow with the skills he will be learning.
Chad Howland: The atmosphere is positive, diverse & inclusive. I did martial arts most of my life & chose this as the school for my 3 daughters. A large student base means there's always a partner to relate with & the staff is welcoming, encouraging hard worth with a family style vibe. Be ready to be greeted at the door by Ana (karate sensei ) when you walk in. Master Brock is always tentative & involved, overseeing all class work, offering hands-on constructive feedback that is welcomed by students. Even the Muay Thai instructor Eric makes students smile as they sweat. Safety Covid measures are consistent & professional.Be ready to work hard, roll, spar, sweat & commit to a better you with amazing people.
gary williams: Loved our first introduction. My kids talked about it all night. My son "said he was now in Cobra Kai" lol
Charles C Box: Great Grandson loves it
Don: I was a member of Absolute back in 2007 when it was located on Kingshighway. I trained under Master Keith Brock for about a year before having to stop due to family issues, but learned so much during that time. Master Brock, along with other great trainers, pushed me everyday and gave me the knowledge and confidence to compete and win my first and only MMA bout just 8 months into training. Would have loved to continue! The fact that the school is still so successful to this day, shows the quality and integrity of those involved in teaching martial arts to the St. Louis community. I truly miss the atmosphere there, and miss competing. I greatly appreciated the experience!
gwen oliver: It's a place for children
