Gokul Indian Restaurant: what do users think?
Tara Smith: AMAZING! The curry is particularly good!
Jack Vandegriffe: Recommended dishes Paneer Tikka MasalaMore
Tasmeem Ahmad: I ordered food for pickup at 11:45am and called them at 11:30 to make sure it would be ready. I got there at 11:45am but the door was locked. Another customer and I waited outside and for at least 10mins until they let us in. The food wasn’t even ready until 12:05 and they didn’t offer any sort of discount or compensation (although they did give the other customer a mango lassi).Honestly, I wouldn’t write this review if the food was at least good, but it wasn’t. The curries were drenched in oil and the paneer dish barely had any paneer.Save yourself the headache and get food elsewhere
Sonu Kumar Tiwari: It’s not available for dine in as mentioned on google listing. I ordered food once and found it miserably horrible. They just sent huge qty of rice with oil and color and some poor quality paneer in the name of paneer tikka biryani. Even the saag paneer was horrible and I developed serious digestion issues that lasted for 3 days .I went again for dine in around 5 pm on weekend and found it closed. There was nobody there to answer anything. It was a horrible experience again.Maybe they are going through some challenge but somehow feel such a chain must be managed well in customer’s interest.
Plz be nice: Food: 1/5|Service: 1/5|Atmosphere: 1/5More
Vish Keshav: Excelled at both quality and the quantity of the food.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Madhusudhan Reddy: The restaurant has provided false information on their Google listing, as they claimed to offer dine-in service but were actually closed for it when we arrived. This has caused inconvenience and disappointment for us as we were hoping to eat at the restaurant. In addition, the quality of the food ordered was not up to par, as the raita that came with the veg biryani was spoiled and bubbling with fermented gases. This is a serious issue that could pose health risks to anyone eating from this place.
Jorden N: I’m not vegan or vegetarian but this was fantastic regardless
Shivam Kothari: Great food. The only pure veg Indian restaurant in the area. However would have liked dine in a little better. As of now they only have takeout.
Madhu Poornima: I wish I could give neg stars. Being a visitor from another state and the wonderful lies written in other reviews made us opt for this restaurant..We ordered many items with a bill of $90 and not even one of them were made properly. The veg pakora has tooo much salt, the bhature were pretty hard, chole is just canned chick.piece with some masal, aloo paratha was paratha minus aloo, had to search for the stuffing and don't get me started on paneer biryani. It was a joke. The chef has no clue what cooking is. Adding garam masala to rice along with salt in dripping oil and paneer pakoda is not paneer biryani. Please go back to chef school if you had attended any. In the end, please don't order from this restaurant if you know what food is.
Nimish Gupta: Absolutely awful! Everything was stale (samosas, paneer pakoda). All went in trash. Eating a nut bar for dinner instead.
Sejal Sah: The lady was so rude and the customer service was horrible.
Yelleni Shiva: Best and friendly customer service with tasty food. Love this place
girish gupta: Worst place which makes us to wait long time with dull receptionist face…! Moham moggala petkunarenti andi?
Tejasvi Kaliga: Ordered vegetarian Manchuria and Samosa Chaat. Samosa chat was ok and can give may be 2.5 Starts, but Veg Manchuria is really bad. Tastes really bad and has very bitter taste and could not finish 10% of it.
Mariah Parsons: I was picking up an order and I saw a man on his phone right by the door I knocked on the door and he ignored me even though he was sitting right by the door when I was trying to explain I had a pick up. I called the number on the door that told me to call for a pick up and nobody answered. The young man was just on his phone with my order on the table next to him and refused to give it to me! Never go here they are rude!
Bill Pat: Very good option for vegetarians totally vegan
Devorah Leah Brown: Literally the BEST Indian vegan food EVER!! Fantastic in every way! We are kosher and vegan, so this place really ticks all of the boxes. It we lived closer, we'd dine here several times a week!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Kasia Kornacki: Excellent food and great service. They were able to accommodate my unique order.
Richard Kestenbaum: Great food, reliable delivery.
Neetu Choubey: One of the best places to get authentic Indian food not just in STL but anywhere. Definitely recommend this.

Basil India: what do users think?
Suzanne Chisum: These dishes run HOT but are very flavorful. It was a good meal. The wait staff were attentive. We will be going back.EDIT: we did return. I lowered my rating from five stars to three. The food was still decent and hot and spicy, even the items marked ‘mild.’The environment is very loud however. The tables are a mishmash of different styles that I would have thought would be updated after being open a year. The bill for our dinner was over $40 a person. We spent over twice what I feel the meal in this environment was worth.
Talisha Bryan: I order here every week. Their food is delicious!!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Brittany Edwards: Finally went in for the first time after getting delivery a bunch. The portions seemed even larger in the restaurant, there were additional menu options, the bowls our dishes were served in were super cute. Definitely still very casual vibes but the food remains extremely tasty so it was a nice change.Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible, step up from sidewalk about two-three inches. Possibly able to get in with chair with assistance.
Dhaval Patel: Amazing food. Quantity was very good and good service.
Samir Jain: Loved the food and no wonder they were busy.Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian and vegan options.Food: 5/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Paneer Tikka Masala, Flakey Naan, Paratha …More
Pramij Silawal: This has been my go to restaurant and always have got really good food before. But recently it feels like they got new cook. Their Food taste totally different than before. I hope they’ll bring the taste back.
Rachel S: The vegetarian options here were fantastic! The side of bread was recommended and worth it. This was my first taste of puffed lotus seeds and any Indian cuisine at all, and it certainly left me with a great impression! Tikka masala. 🍛We went at a time that was close to the afternoon closing without realizing it, which caused some self-induced pressure, but the food and service were good. :’)
Arthur Jones: I liked the naan. I should have bought 2 orders. The vegan tikki Masala was nice.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5 …More
Gustavo Kashiwagi: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5More
aniket kadam: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommendation for vegetarians Highly recommendMore
Kaytez Moore: Personally not the best Indian food, I asked for naan they gave me a different type of bread and while it was flaky and kinda good it wasn’t what I was asking for and it made me upset that the person taking my order never mentioned anything so when I didn’t know it wasn’t naan until I picked it up and got all the way home. The chicken tikka masala was not that good either. It had largely chopped peppers and onions with barely any chicken and the sauce was kind of bland. I won’t be spending money here again.
Kevin Fox: Good food.
Mark Griggs: Very very good food and service. If I lived here I'd eat here every week.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
siva krishna: The food is fantastic, I ordered pepper fried rice and chili Paneer and thoroughly enjoyed the Indian food! Highly recommended.
Michael Moussa: Basil India has quickly become one of my favorite consistently delicious, low-key restaurants to bring friends to. I have tried several dishes and am repeatedly surprised with the flavor and quality of each dish. The portions are larger than they look, and even without appetizers we couldn't finish! Spice levels are hot enough to enjoy but not overwhelming. The service is responsive to the needs of the customers and the restaurant had an enjoyable vibe with good music, plants, and beautiful art work.Lastly, the meals are clean, high quality, and don't make you tired after. Enjoy Basil India before the crowds find out!P.S. The Red curry is my favorite but you cannot go wrong with anything.
Trenna Edwards: The vegan options are out of this world amazing. The curries are incredible, everything is absolute perfection, right down to the presentation.
Akash A: Food was really good! We tasted all waiter recommended veg options. They were all tasty.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Tangra Style Chili Paneer …More
Tisha STL: Best Indian food in Saint Louis city area. Nice ambience, friendly stuff and good choices. Butter chicken is my favorite! Will come for more!
Tomye Harris: Was so good, all fresh and great service!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Vaishnavi: Vegetarian based review: Place is very clean and hygiene. They have very less options for authentic Indian cuisine. Pepper garlic fried rice and Samosa was good. But Butter paneer was okay. It was like they have put some fried paneer to Thai red curry. It didn't taste like typical Indian Butter Paneer.Fluffy naan was like layered Paratha (Kerala Paratha).Price is little higher and the quantity they give is little less. But they do give a bowl of white rice as a complimentaryGetting the Parking lot is very difficult. Need to book the parking lot in advance.
Michael Terrell: Today was my first visit and was pleased with my Tikka Masala. I recommend it!!! I’ll be back. Get you some!!!

Khang Mai: Tandoori chicken extremely dry and flavorless, was only flavored by red food coloring. Albumin was present in the chicken showing that it was possibly previously frozen.Butter chicken had odd flavor like it was Americanized.Lamb vindaloo was ok, expected to be more spicy. Would rather get the Trader Joe’s version.Cheese saag was kind of flavorless alsoGarlic naan seem undercooked and needed more garlic.Chicken momos were good.Prices way too high for this quality of food. Would recommend Turmeric instead.

Jaimeet Patel: We called the restaurant around 9:00pm and asked them about the latest dine in timings, (close at 10:00pm) We reached there by 9:15pm and the staff there were like you have 45 mins to order and eat (?????).We ordered Veg. Thali (keeping in mind that it will be easy for them to prep as they use lunch buffet menu items served as a thali in the evening and save time on both ends). They replaced one of the veg sabji saying that it was out of stock!!!!! We had to settle for less favorite choice of sabji. Before even we could eat our half of the dinner, the staff came and handed over the bill and wanted us to pay before finishing our dinner!!! As time progresses, every 5-10 mins staff came to us and indirectly reminded us to leave at 10:00pm. We couldn't even finish our food and left the place at 10:00pm.At least they should let us finish our meal even if the time passed 10:00pm. Or if they don't want to keep people after 10:00pm, don't let anyone inside for dine in after 8:30-8:45pm.The food was okay (not even warmed up properly). Highly disappointed with the service after paying $90.00 and ate half of what we'd ordered.

Ockham Arzt: I am a regular customers since it is in my neighborhood. Good food and plenty of choice. They have goat curry! Price is reasonable.
Emily Rose: Delicious!!!!
Thomas Grey: Really nice lunch buffet!
Liyah Smith: Great food and good pricing, not so great service. I’d rather order to go next time as I was quite uncomfortable with people staring us down as if they’ve never seen different cultures trying their food. Would definitely recommend to go or delivery though.Kid-friendliness: A different server who wasn’t my waiter offered my child a lollipop while they were fussing.

Samir Mehta: This is one of the hands down best Indian restaurants in St. Louis. Amazing service, consistent quality.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lunch Buffet …More
Sarita Tinsley King: LOVE the staff at Haveli's! They have a new young lady at the register and she's super friendly. The samosas are LITERALLY THE BEST AROUND. HANDS DOWN. I highly recommend the veggie biryhani as well The buffet is a price you simply can't beat. My kids love the options you get at the buffet. They're favorite is rice pudding. 😊Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options! Try the veggie biryhani, palak paneer, or even request your favorite dish without meat.Kid-friendliness: So many options my kids love! My eldest loves the butter chicken. And my youngest loves... everything. 😂Parking: Plenty of spots available. But you can't enter from the side street. You must turn in off of Page Ave.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs at all! Just walk or roll right in. :)Dietary restrictions: The dishes are very versatile and you can request almost anything to be added/changed. :)
Magnus TheRed: This is by far the best Indian food in the st louis area!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Lunch Buffet, Tikka Masala …More
Debayan Chatterjee: We went for dinner & didn't have a good experience. Appetisers were okay but entree (especially the goat curry) was stale and not worth it. The place was barren and waitresses weren't around most of the time. Prices printed on paper menu card are mostly incorrect & misleading e.g. it says Taj Mahal beer is 6.99 but the actual price is 9.99. Worst part of the story is that I had to cough up extra bucks for paying by credit part - something I never came across at any eatery in the United States. Overall, I would rate it as below average.
flashlilman: Nice
abood Anananzeh: Too expensive for lunch and not authentic for Indian food don’t recommend.
Dwight Watkins: Chicken Tikka masala was very good . Also, the paneer garlic Naan was good, too!Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Dinner, Garlic Naan, Tikka Masala …More

Frederick Weidner: My family came to town for a funeral for my wife’s uncle. One of her cousins who is vegan shared with us she had never tried Indian food. My wife and I are from NYC and have the privilege of having all of 2nd Avenue and all its wonderful restaurants to choose from. We knew we had to introduce her to this style of cuisine! We chose this restaurant and boy can they cook!!!!!When we explained to our waiter we were on a mission to educate our cousin the owner herself took us under wing and let us sample anything and everything they had to offer. It felt like we were at her family’s table. We were blown away by her and her staff! I have never been treated to food so tasty and learned so much. Move over 2ndAvenue! You aren’t the only place to get fine Indian food, or quality service. Thank you for treating us as if we were the only people in the universe! We will be back!!!
vladhq: Best Indian food in town. Hema is awesome. Love the atmosphere.Dietary restrictions: They wont use seed oils if you ask
Liam M.: I'm the son of a frequent family that visits. I absolutely love how friendly the service is, and my favorite item from here is the Chicken tika MasalaFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Curry, Naan, Dinner …More
Agnes AJ: We decided to try this place out for the first time for lunch. I made the mistake of not asking how much the lunch buffett cost, and we just proceeded to fill our plates and eat. When it came time to pay the bill, I was shocked for a $19 per person bill! Annnd, that was including the discount we got for using cash…even still, the total with tax was $43.57!!! I can only speak for myself but, I think that is SUPER pricey for lunch. If you use credit or debit cards, they automatically charge a 3.5% extra fee. Also, the food was extremely underwhelming. Indian food is known for their use of abundant spices yet, this food was very bland. The food was barely warm so by the time you left the buffet and got back to your table, it was cold. I will never, ever return here as absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Daniel Rodriguez: Joke buffet 👎🏽
Robert Wilcox: Go for the goat/lamb!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Manoj Ram: “Indians—-avoid this”After looking at reviews, went for a lunch buffet with friends on a friday. Every item on the menu is plain and bland. Watery chicken curry, saltless biryani, naan that is as crunchy as like a papad. And this is the first indian reztaurant that i ever came across in us that served BEEF meatballs curry. Everything is pathetic, not worth your money. Go try some other place. This place doesnt deserve your $20+ tax.
Danita Smith: Expensive but excellent. Clean. Buffet food wasn’t very warm but was still good. We had 2 plates 😃Recommended dishes Lunch Buffet …More

Jesse Valentina: I moved from Mass. about 5 months ago. I have been trying many Indian, Thai, Middle eastern, Italian restaurants. Namaste is my favorite. I Love Chicken Tiki Marsala and Saag but some places even though you ask for mild it's to spicy for me. But they gave me what I wanted. There was even a creamyness to the sauces. I also ordered a side of garlic Naan. Everything was awesome including the service. I will be back. I highly recommend this place. Easy parking right outside the restaurant.Parking: I was able to park right outside. No Meters even!
Haley Criswell: Namaste is the perfect place to get delicious Indian/Nepalese food. Our server was so kind and helpful and made sure we had plenty of water 😅. Sunflower State: Quite tasty. We enjoyed the veggie samosas and the butter and garlic naan. We thought the chicken tikka masala could have used significantly less cream.
Vipila Bathvar: There is mix experience for me. The only thing you can grab here is just momo. Other than that I don’t like much. We ordered Nonveg thali in which chicken curry was good but other items were not so good. They put gulab jamun in curd which was not good.Dal was not good.Panipuri is ok ok. I don’t like taste of panipuri water.Aluu chop was burnt and thick. Taste was not good.Veg steamed momo was nice but it’s sauce was not ok. It was not spicy. It is moist and flavorful. We tried the vegetable appetizer for the first time today and it was delicious. The spinach/ potato appetizer is so tasty it does not need any sauce. It also included samosas, fried onions and fried cheese.Yum!Service was wonderful as usual too!

Michelle C Peters: Ordered delivery Chicken Tika Masala lunch and loved it.
Brinda Gupta: My go to Indian restaurant in stl!!
Patrick Hayes: Garlic nan bread good, Kachoombar salad ok, Mango Lassi was great but the problem was with the Chicken Tikka Masala - 5 grizzle pieces (one piece was over 1" by 1" large) along with 3 bones (of which I cut roof of mouth with). When mentioned to waitress no concern, brought the check over no entree comped or please come back and we will do better next time - NOTHING she offered.Up until this point I SO ENJOYED AND LOVED COMING for meals which had always been so good. POOR customer service
Google Member: Food was horrible. The gobi wasn't cooked, it was rock hard. The lunch buffet was taken away. The rice was old, it tasted like it was rewarmed. Samosas took more than 20 minutes to serve. They appeared to be frozen samosas. Poor service as well.
LJ Holmes: Good, inexpensive Indian food. Very friendly, casual atmosphere. Lot of take out business. We ate in and had the dinner for two. I thought the meat in the tandoori mixed grill was a bit dry for my taste but tandoori cooking is not what I'm looking for usually. The dal and mullagwantany(sp?) soups were excellent as were the lamb curry and vegetable korma. Rice and bread were great. The desserts were fine if you like Indian desserts. Very reasonable, very friendly, very good food.
Cote Brillant: They have friendly people working here and plenty of healthy options. I love the curry but be sure to tell them your level of spice. Good price food. Very flavorful. Try it.Vegetarian options: Rice beans nan bread vegetable meatless options
