Emergency Room at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital: what do users think?
Tavia Kauffman: The worst er experience I've had in my Entire Life. The lack of care compassion, concern, expertise, listening, collaboration, and professionalism was positively astounding.I have no words for how poorly this er was run and how much myself and every other patient I had contact with felt zero humanity or actually helpful medical care. This was the most alarming and concerning er department I've seen in my life, and this is coming from a wounded veteran and a firefighter/emt. I've seen a few ERs as a provider and as a patient. St. Louis er was and Absolute Disgrace.
Timothy Brandon: Horrible hospitalSlow and under staffed hospitalI would not recommend this hospital
Holly Bass: Kidney abs liver failure patient...still waiting in ER after 5 hours. Nothing compared to the person that was here since yesterday.
Bearson Welles: By far the worst ER I've ever seen. Had a broken hand, waited for 5 hours without being treated, without being given so much as an ice pack. When I asked if there was any estimate on how long the wait would be the staff got mad. I eventually just left without ever being treated.Don't go here for an actual emergency. You'd get treated faster if you had to drive to a hospital an hour away.Beyond the wait times, it was easily the least compassionate medical staff I've ever interacted with. They treated everyone there with nothing but disdain. About 4 hours in they wheeled an old lady into the waiting room, she has been left in an empty treatment room for hours and none of the staff knew why. Another woman had a seizure and the other patients had to get the staff because they weren't paying attention. The staff would get upset whenever someone asked them to repeat a name, after they whispered it one time from 50 feet away. At one point they kicked out all family members, despite there being plenty of room in the waiting area, I suspect because uninjured family members were much more likely to inquire about the long wait times.Just don't go here, there are other ERs minutes away.
Amy Rudd: If I could give zero stars I would!
Jaron Null: Absolute garbage. And currently still sitting in this place. Sat in waiting room for 7 hours. To finally get taken back. Upon being brought back… we stood for a while until they brought out a bed to set in the middle of the hallway. Sat there for couple more hours to finally get an MRI… (we knew was needed as it was a previous issue)…. After getting the MRI they said they would look over everything and get us… that was 5 hours ago. Not a chirp since. Shift has changed and no one knows what is going on. And the only dr to talk to is MIA…. Go elsewhere. Go anywhere else…. Anywhere. 13 hours sitting in a hallway across from drug rooms and people screaming and everything else.
Anita Stafford: SLU Care ED continues to rock!!! Excellent care!!!
Kevin Edwards: A lot of workers there are very unprofessional. How do I go to the hospital for help but don't get meds or discharge papers??? People are sick and sleeping the pain away... How hard is it to find a person??? Then on top of that... They were putting people out because they were sleep. I'll never go to this hospital again
Aujua Lewis: My visit here was horrible I sat in the waiting roomcoughing my lungs out for 5 hours and nothing I left and followed up the next day with my own doctor they had people who were there for 10 plus hours suffering they were drawing blood taking vitals in the waiting room which is very unsanitary this isn't the first time I've witness things like this I will not be returning they never do anything but take vitals here thanks for nothing I will not be returning
Mary E Jones: Horrible service or shall I say process. I am currently at another hospital and it's been confirmed I had a Heart Attack. Despite the understanding of short staff possibly. I could have died .. I only was there due to your hospital being close to the event. Please work on the overall process and care. It could save a life Additionally I'm scheduled for Open heart surgery but you all placed me in the waiting room. Had my daughter not cared and took me to another hospital. I could have died. Again you must do better each of you are Mandated reporters and your failing. Very disappointed..
Tracy Tucker: The usual wait at a emergency room everyone was nice
Viveca Sims-Greene: I’ve only given one star and would give less if I could … the wait and the attitudes of the emergency room staff was horrible!!. Sick Patients were asking for assistance in using the restroom and the staff was unwilling to help, or get someone who would help. I came in on 1/6/23 at 2:15pm and I wasn’t seen or put into a room until 3am on 1/7/23 with possible chest/heart issues. I completed my visit at 11:40am. I will say the care received once admitted into a room was through and good care, but unfortunately the twenty four wait and the haphazard lackadaisical attitudes of pre admission staff trumps all.
Jamera Jones: I checked in at 2am and was there until 8am and received absolutely no help while being in excruciating pain from surgery. Waiting room was extremely dirty. Allow too many people who shouldn’t be there to be sleep all over the waiting area. People throwing up and all in your face bothering you. Lazy and rude staff. Don’t recommend.
Alexius Strong: This is the worst hospital I have ever been to!!!!!
Kristal Merrifield: I sat in that hospital from 2:00 in the afternoon to 10:30 and did not get to see a doctor and I left I did not like my treatment
Portland Scott: Very unprofessional the wait time is ridiculous the people that are working in there are nasty you all really need some help. It needs to be shut down for to be a new facility. Poor hygiene . People walking around with blood on them is just nasty😬 I will never go back
Pat Hyde: WONDERFUL, KIND ER STAFF! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Tyhessia Lewis: I arrived by paramedic lastnight, I was immediately took to the back. Although I was admitted for observation for they were very professional, quick, & very courteous.
dominique moore: Horrible place to seek treatment if you are African-American. They allow caucasian to be treated before you, you’ll be sitting for hours without any help. I was sitting there 4 hours before they tried to help and once they started helping me they was very rude! A lady at the front desk told me there’s nothing she can do because she’s about to get off and i should just wait for the other staff to come in.
Nathaniel Curry: My experience was very poor had to leave without being seen by a doctor arrived at 10 am left at 2:45
Ambermicah: I brought my family member here and at first the staff was very attentive but then as their attention directed to stuff that was not relevant and their little clicks My family member became just another face in the crowd even though he was bleeding internally and could have died because of their negligence as he continued to express his pain and the obvious wound was growing larger and larger as the time we sat there he was never taken for a scan and set for 3 hours bleeding internally thankfully I made a tough decision to leave and take him to Barnes Jewish where they treated him immediately in the trauma center where he needed to be treated and is now in stable condition after being in the trauma center for 4 days with internal bleeding that could have been caught earlier that would have cost my family member his life. And I have been to that this hospital many times and have been very pleased with them but I feel like the staff that they have right now is too worried about what is it relevant going on in the waiting room and the gossip between And the one young lady that has a bad attitude when my husband asked if he should go somewhere else because he had not been seen after the doctor had specifically said to get him into CT scan and after he sat in the waiting room barely able to breathe and by the minute growing, He asked respectfully if he should go to another hospital because they had not attended to him He did not want to die, she made no attempt to try to resolve the issue or get him in to CT scan to tíyou have the scan, absolutely so if she doesn't represent your hospital then why does she have a job because she is playing with people's lives you will be lucky if you do not hear from my lawyer.

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis Emergency Room: what do users think?
Alana Milligan: My brother was in there for 15 hours in a freaking waiting room with a broken leg without pain meds or food. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Staff was rude and incompetent. Never go here if you have the option!
Tyler Anderson: Sat in the waiting room for 7 hours overnight because my jaw was locked. Didn't receive a room, just some pain medication and a muscle relaxer. The two stars are for the friendly medical staff.
abdullah alani: Disrespectful front desk there’s no respect to the patient condition … people come after us and they were seen and we sit for almost 5 hours until they called our name … I brought this to the front desk their respond was IF YOU DON NOT LIKE THAT YOU CAN TAKE YOUR MOM AND LEAVE …my mom was suffering from chest pain on the left side that considered as danger side of pain she should be the priority to be seen but all they did check her in took blood pressure and make us wait 5hours until they called our name ….there’s no human being over here at all .
Jaffet Ayala: to Margaret working the front desk at the ER, you prolly should consider switching jobs, I am horrified to hear of how your treated a patient who came in, you hung up the phone on them when they where trying to tell you they needed a wheelchair upon arrival due to them being close to passing out and in shock, I understand your job is stressful but maybe that means this ain't for you, be better
Stephanie Roddy: Staff was caring, understanding and friendly. Also, I was out quicker than I thought. There were many people in Emergency Room but they were constantly calling people to get vital signs, blood drawn etc. Thank you all for all that you do!
Raqi Swagg: Dr Birch and the nurses were great to me. They made me feel calm like I was in good capable hands. Not to mention I didn't wait very long. This hospital is always amazing. Keep up the good work
Nora Demic: Worst experience ever
Chan Mccline: The doctors and nurses were nice. They were very attentive to my needs and concerns.
Princess Pickens: I would like to thank SSM staff member for helping me and being kind and friendly and taking of me
Terrell Wilson: My experience was HORRENDOUS!!! I have never been to the ER and had such a horrible time. The staff was rude and dismissive. The service couldn't have been slower if they were relying on snails. My situation was never properly addressed. I was given pain medicine which was ineffective, and no one ever came to assess the efficacy of the pain meds. I know that pain control is a major issue in healthcare and it wasn't handled at all. I was told they weren't going to keep me, but I still waited 2 hours for discharge papers and a prescription for pain meds. Which I still never received. I left the ER without being properly treated and had to deal with attitudes from staff. They kept saying the Doctor is busy as if my situation wasn't a priority. I guess there was only one Dr. in the entire ER. No one could write a prescription or pull an IV. I left with an IV in my arm which should never be done. They were violating HIPPA laws at every turn. They had IVs infusing in the waiting room. The place was dirty and the service was despicable. I'm extremely disappointed and St. Mary's has now gone to the bottom of my list as a quality healthcare provider. The staff needs more training on customer service, time management, and HIPPA laws. I had to pull my own IV. THE WHOLE SITUATION WAS TRAGIC!!
Doretha Williams: Wait time is slow, due to the shortage of staff, but not consistent when checking patient in. Wait time to long to check out.
Audrey Walker: I would give 0 stars but that's not an option. I came to the ER at 430a. It's 11:03a and I'm told after several test they have no answer as in why I'm still bleeding from my miscarriage back In April 2022.
Canzada Scott: As a healthcare worker with 17 yrs RN experience. I was very pleased with the process and patient interaction I received. The follow up was prompt and the professionalism was present.I would recommend and a will visit again.
Jessica Vogler: Beautiful service and care, Adrienne K is the best! :) 3
Toni Lowe: The most horrible experience there was to have i set in the waiting room over 5 hours without being seen by anyone i watched people that came in after me get seen before me i sat in so much pain for all those hours that i decided to discharge myself and go home
Mulinah Jackson: Sat in the ER with my Mom for over 6.5 hours to only get an X-ray. Never spoke with the doctor to get results. Once I inquired about the time, I was told the printers were down. To only be handed a discharge folder of the results n told she had to go somewhere else. My Mom received no medicine. Left to only return because they didn’t even remove the iv from her arm. Extremely disappointed in the service! If I could give less than 1 star I would
Bob Tousignant: This is a horrible hospital. My wife spent 12 hours at sitting in the emergency room waiting area and never saw a doctor and she had possibly had a stroke. Do not recommend this place to anybody.
Rhoda Pruitt: Just left St. Mary's ER. I was there for 5 hours sitting in the lobby with an IV in my arm with nothing attached to it. I was in pain and I told them several times but my shoulder and arm pain was never addressed or looked at. They just did an EKG and blood work to make sure it wasn't my heart. They just left me to sit there rocking in pain. After a while the nurse said their systems went down. SMH. This was my 1st and last time coming to this ER. There was a young girl there bent over crying in pain and she waited so long till she just left still bent over and crying. She vomited on the floor and it was never cleaned up. WOW
Niecey Wooldridge: Didn't receive care i needed..ended up going to another hospital and got admitted
Traci McGhee: This was the worst experience I have ever had to encounter. After sitting in waiting room for 11 hours I knew no more than I did when I first arrived. It just can’t be this bad at St. Mary’s Hospital. I signed myself out because I had no food, water, empathy or anything from the staff and when asked how much longer I would be there after 11 hours I was told I was in the top 30. Don’t know what that meant or anything! Something needs to be done because it’s not fair to me or anyone else that was there to have to wait in the waiting room, not even a triage room to be seen! It is so much more I could say but just know that This Hospital needs to do better and have empathy for their patients
Brenda Ollie -Young: My BP was 187/120 and I was discharged. My D/C paperwork had nothing on it relating to my diagnosis. This is not valid to me

St. Louis Children's Hospital Emergency Room: what do users think?
Jo Jo: 4 plus hour wait with a child vomiting blood. No area for kids with autism, no updates, just sign you in and leave you to rot until they can see you. You're better off taking your child literally anywhere else
Jaron Davis: My 1 year old daughter had a severe laceration on her hand that ultimately required two deep sutures and 12 stitches. We were sent here after Alton Memorial couldn't care for her.The good:Once she was finally treated, they stitched her hand up nicely and she didn't even cry.The bad:- Waited 7 hours- Got kicked out because my wife and I brought our 7 year old daughter. Too many guests, apparently.- There was no "overflow" waiting area. We were literally just kicked outside and told to wait until they were done (7 hours later). You make all that money but can't provide me a chair to wait in over night? Seriously?- Not enough parking for large vehicles.- Bathrooms were gross. I lifted the toilet seat and there were brown dried urine stains on the bottom of the seat. Come on... even hotels clean that every day in every room. You can't handle that?
fuego Hernandez: From the emergency room parking to the ridiculous security guard and now the five hour wait (10p is when we arrived) causing me to ponder leaving and wonder why I stupidly listened to the ambulance guys while I was frightened for my child. I will not stray from Cardinal Glennon again.
Erika Caldwell: Terrible experience the last two times we have been. We were there for 6 hours waiting. I have a two year old. I was In the waiting area alone for 4 hours. Finally got back to a room and waited another hour. They finally told me what they were going to do with my daughter and then left again for another 30 minutes. All of the staff was SO absolutely rude. I thought maybe the first time was a fluke. But after being in my room hearing the nurses talking about someone else in the hall calling them a b****. I was pretty over this place. The only nice people there were the registrars and child life. The “supervising doctor” made me feel as if my daughters reason for being there was invalid and that we were wasting her time. After
Gabby: I didn’t even get to come to this hospital, because of the operator that was working last night. I called to speak to a nurse regarding my sons health, because I needed to know if his symptoms warranted an ER visit. When the operator answered, I asked to speak to an on call nurse or something like that, and she rudely said “We don’t have an on call nurse or something like that.” I explained that my son was ill and I needed to know if I should bring him, and she, again, rudely said “I suggest you call your pediatrician.” and hung up the phone. I tried to call back but nobody would pick up. It was 11:45pm, I definitely couldn’t speak to my sons doctor. We ended up taking him to a different hospital because of how rude she was to me, I hope nobody calls with something urgent because clearly they won’t be getting any help.
De'Ja TheGoat: My child has a lump on her neck the size of a plum and we've been sitting up here for 5WHOLE HOURS NOT ONCE HAS ANYONE CAME OUT AND CHECKED ON US. PEOPLE (WHITE PEOPLE) SIGN IN AFTER US THEY GO STRAIGHT TO THE BACK. ME AND MY CHILD ARE FORCED TO WAIT. JUS SAD. USE TO BE MY FAVORITE HOSPITAL. THEY NEED MORE PEOPLE HERE WHO CARE NOT JUS ANYONE CAN WORK AT THE HOSPITAL. THIS IS TERRIBLE. IF SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG I HAVE TO JUS DEAL WITH IT BECAUSE OTHER LIVES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR LITTLE BLACK LIVES. SHAME ON YOU CHILDREN'S. VOTED NUMBER ONE. YALL MUST'VE CALLED D.TRUMP TO HELP WITH VOTING. BUNCH OF BOLOGNA. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE.
Stacy Harms: 19 years ago I owed my sons well being to St Louis Children's hospital. Yesterday they owed my daughter respect and a bedside manner. We had a discharge nurse that actually done great with my grandson, but the admitting and pre-op nurses need to take a refresher in bedside manner. And the nurse that took my daughter back to recovery to see my grandson, and then yelled at her not to talk or touch him so loud the physicians and nurses sitting at the desk turned around needs to seek a different profession. I have worked in long term Healthcare for over 20 years a I would never speak to a family member the way my daughter was talked to.
Taay Veon: I been waiting to get seen for 2 almost 3 would not recommend
Catherine Alderman: Overall we are happy with Saint Louis Children's Hospital. There was definitely a few complaints, the phlebotomy/IV team in the ICU left a lot to be desired. They were very rough and incapable of inserting an IV into my child's arm without literal digging, even with the ultrasound. It was awful. There were a few nurses in both ICU and on the diabetes floor that were completely callous to my child's agony whenever the IV needed to be restarted, which was every hour or so because anytime any tiny bubbles formed the machine immediately shut off. The reason it hurt so badly is because they added potassium, which he needed (not least of all because of the excessive fluids they had him on because they were trying to flush ketones), but potassium is known to be painful. From medical site: Intravenous infusion of potassium chloride can cause severe acute pain at the infusion site. They used topical lidocaine once, and it helped, but flatly refused to use it again because, "We never do that...". I'm fairly certain they just didn't feel like getting it approved by the doctor. Not an excuse for such a safe, cheap means of comforting a newly diagnosed nine-year-old. They effectively traumatised a child who has a lifetime of needles and tests ahead of him. He is petrified of his future blood tests, and flatly refuses a continuous glucose monitor (which would make controlling his disease much safer); hell, he can't even handle bandai since he won't have anything attached to him because of his experience with the IVs and apathy here. We requested the IV be removed and he take oral potassium, which he was perfectly happy taking and drinking plenty of water (he wasn't drinking well while on the IV because it was a constant threat of more pain). They only gave him oral potassium once, I've no idea why. Finally, when he started screaming after the IV was turned back on again because potassium, a wonderful med-tech named Miss Gloria came in to check on the little one who was so chatty and happy just minutes before that. We explained what was happening, and she and our favorite nurse, Barbara, finally flagged a doctor down who agreed to have the damn thing removed. Having done so he immediately started drinking well on his own and we were able to flush his ketones, finally, because they sure weren't budging when he was hooked to IV fluids. Modern medicine needs to realize our bodies are meant to ingest these things orally; therefore, it tends to be safer and more effective to do so. I would also like to add one nurse's comment after I told her he wasn't bothered by the IV before they added the potassium, "Well, it's good he's screaming, it means he's feeling better!" Listen, bitch, I have multiple children, and this kid is the one with the highest pain threshold and most stoic demeanor. I had never heard him scream like thay before, and hope never to again. That nurse should get a desk job. Aside from that fiasco, however, it was as pleasant a stay as it can be in a hospital. It was clean, they have televisions with movies, they offer food for families from outside of town, they have games and rooftop gardens. We didn't have to wait because my son was helicoptered in from our local hospital. I am forever grateful that they saved my son's life, but I obviously would have changed a few things. Regardless of the distance (150 miles), we continue to use their pediatric endocrinologist clinic, because I am, all-in-all, impressed with the education and knowledge of their specialists, the genuine empathy from the front desk, and the on-call diabetes nurses for questions and concerns. Yes, I recommend Saint Louis Children's Hospital, but don't be afraid to advocate for your child as needed.
Tara Emmons-Gregg: The attention, care, & love shown to my 2 yr old grandson after suffering a stroke has been phenomenal! Thank you from the bottom of my whole family's heart! 💞💖
Zara Zorkoczy: i wut to woch your vidos sow i di'd
Artic_Guns Gaming: Good they help a lot and nice
Andrea Hunsel: Brought my son in to find out why he has been sleeping 20+ hours a day, has this weird eye moment to indicate seizures and when he wakes his whole body hurts and always has horrible headaches. I’m being told that they will consult nuero over the phone, but they are hard to get in here at night. If this is not urgent to a neurologist I want to hear directly from them and why it’s not and we should continue to wait for our appointment in March. This is no quality of life for an 8 yr old. Only reason I gave 2 stars is because the nurses were amazing!!! They were the only positive experience. I passed up going to Mercy ER because I figured children’s may be better considering his symptoms. That was a mistake. I will go back to exclusively using Mercy.
Jennifer P: We love STL Childrens. The bad reviews here, as expected are from people who waited "too long" in the ER. If you are rushed back, it means you are seriously ill. The last time we came in my daughter was taken back immediately as appropriate for her issue at that time. We were then admitted for a few days. Both our ER and inpatient staff were incredible. The room was clean, the food was good, the sleeping accommodations for me were great (ask for an egg crate/foam mattress topper). Our nurses were fantastic. Truly top notch care, wouldn't go anywhere else.
Dennis Thacker: The absolute best staff works here.
Emily Alexander: Took my daughter to the ER after a bad fall. Extremely impressed with all the care she received from triage, to physicians, registration & nurses! We were in and out of there in no time. Thank you for taking such good care of my little girl!
Kerry McWhorter: Daughter has been in the ER for over 5 hours with my grandson and has YET to see a doctor.
Saul Oceguera: This hospital should have more respect and dignity for the patient waiting they no ever offer bottle of water and they have you waiting for hour when you kids get extrem pain for hour but they still calling this emergency room
Kahmeise Lawson: The wait time is so bad. You and your children will wait hours before anything is done.
Lucy Kelley: Literally the worst emergency room! My daughter has been misdiagnosed multiple times when I brought her to this emergency room! Great hospital awful emergency room chop shop for kids and the rooms are dirty. Running a high fever and throwing up they jump to the conclusion that she has a uti....tried to shove a catheter up a one year old and leave her swollen after I told them to stop I don’t want her to have them to have the NP tell me she would never let her daughter have that done it’s too invasive....then why would you suggest it for my daughter?
Chrissy G: My son has been seen here many, many times. The staff are always friendly and easy to talk to. They are thorough in testing/examinations/treatment and have always made me as a parent feel at ease that my child is getting the best care. I can not recommend this hospital enough. The support they offer is amazing. It's not easy getting my son to go to the doctor (he is severely autistic, mostly non-verbal and prone to outbursts and they have always been so wonderful in accommodating him and making him feel comfortable.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital Emergency Room: what do users think?
Ty Massacre: Normally I vouch for Barnes being one of the best hospitals in Missouri but my last, and granted only, visit to this ER was terrible. I waited in the waiting room and then in a room for most of the day just for them to kick me out and call me a liar about my pain. I understand ERs are for life or death situations, more or less, so maybe that's my fault for not assuming I'm not dying but the pain was real and real concerning. I ended up getting a gallbladder surgery at a different hospital; and now owe this hospital more than all my other hospital bills in the past 8 months combined.
John Nguyen: The medical school is an absolute joke.
Christial Poole: I would like to take this time and say that my husband and I came here, and it was our very first time at this hospital and location. We arrived about 9:30pm. The front desk got us checked in and at about 10:15pm - 10:30pm ( give it take a few mins ) they took him back for an X-Ray. X-Rays take up to 45mins to an hour. So with just this short time spand they did achieve more then most hospitals, and about 11:30pm-12:00am they got us back into a room. So we been here for about 2 hours and so far they have moved very affectionatly, were very professional, friendly, compassionate and over all when someone needed them there was a staff member right there within 5 minutes give or take. The room was very clean, quite and cozy. Over all a way better experience here than at the other hospitals in Missouri. Especially St Louis. This hospital and SLU are definitely my two favorites so far. Keep up the amazing work you guess.
Scott Rigg: This experience was the absolutely the worst experience. The 2 doctors that saw me had no idea what they were doing. The room was dirty. Stay away if possible.
S: *NOTE* Our experiences and this review have all been with the West County Hospital, but based off of everything the entire organization seems disorganized, so I wanted to warn people.Go to ANY other hospital not owned by BJC or Washington University. This place is an absolute abomination to healthcare, the level of stupidity and incompetence knows no bounds. They commit Medicaid fraud and charge absorbent amounts when they don't actually do anything. Its seriously a complete joke and they are stealing no telling what in tax payer money. My partner has been told by his Barnes doctors to go to the ER 4 different times and they send him home without any care or treatment. They have zero record of any of this between them, it's extremely disorganized. This place needs to be shut down and investigated before they cause further abuse and neglect to their patients. Not sure if they are using outdated, fake, paid for, or exaggerated ratings that make them appear better than others in the area, our experience has been quite the opposite.I am having them investigated and doing everything in my power to deter people from going to anything related to this hospital, I will not rest until they either are held accountable or shut down. If anyone else has had issues I'd love to connect and we can bring them down together!
savannah thompson: This the most nastiest place ever , they don’t care if you die or not in that emergency room and the ugly hair receptionists have trashy attitudes ! Shouldn’t nobody be waiting no 10 hours to be scene .
Ang Robinson: Extremely dangerous ER to visit. They don’t value human life here.
A Queen: The wait time is more than impractical!!! I understand er visits are usually hours BUT 4 hrs in the er just waiting to be called to the back on a random Tuesday is ridiculous. Then to top it off I asked a nurse for a cup and she responded with we arent giving out water because of cOviD!! Mean while i watched another nurse give someone a paper cup of water. I HATE BARNES and will not be coming back. Depaul isbbetter, saint marys is better, mercy is better, literally every other hospital is better than barnes and their nonchalant triage nurses.
Nicole F: An ambulance brought my mother to the hospital, and I followed behind in my car. I proceeded to park in the Emergency Room garage security wouldn’t open the gate.I told them how my mother had arrived via ambulance. They continued to “overtalk me by giving directions to a different garage. That garage is reserved for patients, and they did not see a patient in my car.”Even after repeating that the patient was brought by ambulance, it didn’t matter; they continued to share directions to a different garage. Listen more, talk less security
cobblestonelane1: So far I and many around me have been waiting in the emergency room to be seen for 6 hours. This is the worst experience I've ever had at at emergency room
Earthy_girl101: Total waste of time!
Faith: Blood and needles all over the bathrooms. No staff. Have to wait in your car even if it's an actual emergency. 100s of people and no comfort.
Gracie Gralike: Hope to never have to come back here. I was having extreme pain in my abdomen area that wouldn't go away with over-the-counter meds. It was in the middle of the night in a snow storm, so I couldn't go to urgent care as I would have preferred to do. Got here, told them about my pain and did get a room quickly. Doctor and nurses didn't seem to care about my pain and I was left alone in the room a lot. They ran a bunch of tests and told me there was basically nothing they could do and I needed to go home. They never even did an ultrasound, so weird, even though I told them I was in extreme abdominal pain. Sent me home and a few weeks later I got a huge 4-figure dollar bill for care that didn't even relieve me of my pain! Ridiculous!! This place is a scam. I went to urgent care the next day and they actually did the ultrasounds and found that I had a cyst that exploded, that could have been life threatening. They were able to give me the meds I needed to feel better. Avoid this ER if you can; it's dirty, nobody cares about your pain and they will send you a huge bill you won't be able to afford. You have been warned!
Senad Huskic: My gf has brain cancer she came to the hospital 8am because a seizure she was admitted she waited 16 hrs for a room what a inhumane place to be shame on you and your service
Xinran Zhang: terrible place. would give it a 0 stars if it was a option. friend was here for 7+ hours and was just told to wait.
mike dunker: Professional Caring DoctorsA little bit short on staff to patient ratioReally seemed like they Care about people!!!
Becky Lappe: Very unsanitary, dried blood on floors and beds. Took forever to do test and took forever to get discharged after being told we would be discharged in a few minutes, 4 hours later we are still waiting to be discharged.
Joseph Coleman: AVOID ER AT ALL COST!!! Poor management and leadership, unprofessional, unsanitary, and disorganized. For every caring and compassionate employee there are 3 rude and unprofessional employees. I personally blame lack of leadership and accountability and greed by only focusing on patients and procedures that are most profitable or that "they" deem necessary on a whim. The comical part of that is it is so disorganized that it could ,as in my wife's case, it can take up to 6 hours just to get registered, provide insurance, info, which is separate from triage so it becomes a guessing game that whomever is in charge is allowing the staff to play in regards to who gets what care when. They are playing with people's health and well being as if it's a game. It's hard to give the benefit of the doubt and say they are understaffed, overworked, etc...when basic common courtesy, compassion, and respect are not displayed by a large enough part of the staff for it to be detrimental to the values and core mission BJC claims to have, but clearly doesn't verify is being upheld and executed. Upon walking through the door it is clear care is not a priority based on appearance and atmosphere alone. The sad part is patients put up with it because they need help. After over 8 hours my wife was told that in order to use the phone to call me her IV port had to be removed so she could use the free phone at the security desk to call me as I was not allowed in the waiting room. This was done with no gloves across a desk and not in a triage or patient care area. No pressure or cotton ball was applied with the bandage which led to her bleeding all over her arms, and clothing In a non patient care area which is dangerous for her as well as other people. The large bandage used was completely blood soaked and no further assistance was provided except for a tissue. We also have pictures of it which I will try to add once my wife is done resting and we researchfurther action we can take. After 8 hours we have no answers and more questions. I could go on, but it is very apparent there is a leadership and accountability failure that needs to be addressed. Unfortunately no one will care as long as the money keeps coming and people either don't know how or have the resources to file a grievance or complaint that someone actually takes action on. I guarantee we get a bill. Patients are to be treated not preyed upon or treated as an inconvenience!!!
Culbersonkids Culberson: Dr.Christopher Brooks told me I’m having a tubal pregnancy and I’m going to die if we leave the hospital with out getting a abortion in 2010 my son is a health 11 year old boy
Terry Reising: Excellence in medicine! Saved my life & my father-in-law’s life. Brain tumor was removed with no side effects. With my father -in-law, Stage 4 cancer was eradicated. Extremely knowledgeable & advanced! They are on the cuttting edge of advanced medicine!
Timothy Zeimet: If you have active chest pain this ER will not prioritize you as an emergency. We were told a 8hr wait. So we are in a motel in fenton going to try in the morning. A young black haired RN named kim running triage had no respect for my wife. She was short, rude, and inconsiderate. If gYour not actively dying or seconds from death dont even try it. Go elsewhere.

Christian Hospital: Emergency Room: what do users think?
Nate Cornelius: Extremely rude disrespectful and don’t care about anyone’s treatment
Rochelle White: I went into the ER because for left side chest pains, shortness of breath and tingling fingers and toes, I was told to wait in the lobby, WRONG I have medical background working experience and have worked in the ER chest pains are supposed to be immediately brought back. Anyway I waited in the lobby, had blood work done, waited back in the lobby, had a EKG waited back in the lobby had an X-ray done waiting back in the lobby. Not once while waiting did a nurse come check to see how I was doing. Long story short worst experience never got to a room.
Tamara Jackson, M.Ed.: I came in at approximately 11:30 this morning and it is now 7:30. I have been sitting in the waiting room for the last 8 hours waiting to be seen. I cannot feel my legs. They are numb and I feel pins and needles which could be a neurological issue, could be an anemia issue, it could be a diabetes issue. You could also be none of the above. The fact that I have not been seen but I've had the time to have a blood draw and get the results back of the blood draw and I know my results, having them five to six hours ago, is incredibly indicative of a failed and broken system. This is ridiculous. It is unacceptable. And the fact that there are so many people here that are sick, vomiting, having chest pains, arriving in vain, or are like me and can't feel their limbs is ludacris. There is a reason the health care system in the US it's failing. There's a reason to help your system in StL is failing. BJC is helping perpetuate this failure.Update: I have now been here 12 hrs w/o seeing a doc...
Erica Cole: Front desk..helpful with a smileI dunno if you have to bleeding out onto the floor..or holding the knifeWaiting for a doctor... HORRIBLEonce your name is calledNurse check vitals.. wait time for a doctor's arrival..when he/she finish watching the entire season of their favorite show....HORRIBLE
Samantha Sanders: I’m highly upset with how this hospital treats people. My friend went here got to a room in a good amount of time but once she was in there the nurse was very rude. We were waiting 3 hours before a doctor or nurse even come and checked on her. Then she was getting discharged and they took 2 hours to print her papers. I would understand if they were super busy but it was absolutely died. Never coming here even if I was dying and only could come to this hospital
Jackie Shelby: The staff was showing signs of being overworked. The employee who discharged my husband was abrupt, talked very loud(my husband was suffering from excruciating headaches).
Ericka Hudgens: If you're the type that gets aggravated by long wait times without considering you're at an ER, stay home and don't be rude to the staff here. Yes it takes a little time to get to the back but I feel like that's everywhere. The staff here is so kind and personable, they listened and accommodated to every need of mine. Thank you again! Jake was my nurse and he's the sweetest person I've ever met!
Kyle Batson: They literally were yelling at a woman who was passing out in pain and poking her in the chest last night . What in the - is wrong with these people?!?
Shelbey Stone: It took awhile, but the care was quality. Even though they were very busy, I didn’t feel the interaction was rushed. The nurses and doctor and staff were very amiable and knowledgeable.
Jacqueline Pagel: Very disappointed in the ER and the lack of listening to their patients concerns. I went in on Monday with terrible headaches, vision changes, and temporal swelling. I was hoping for imaging with my symptoms. Instead they passed me off with normal blood tests and told me they were only going to give me steroids and tylenol for TMJ, and sent me on my way with prescriptions. Needless to say I ended up going to another ER on Friday because I still had no relief. They did imaging, a CT and MRI that showed a lesion on my brain/cerebellum. Unbelievable! I am thankful I persisted and went back to a different ER. I also found some false reports on my discharge notes. Just beware and always advocate for yourself. You know your body.I also want to note. I know this is an extremely difficult time in healthcare but we need to do better at not pushing concerns aside and still listening to our patients first and giving them the care they seek. After all we are paying for the tests not the staff or hospital.
Denise “Bark'N Good Time” S: Nurses and doctors are okay but they have a broken call system and there is a constant beeping thay drives you insane. No one does anything about it and if I wasn't with my Mom she'd pee the bed because no call system.
Sara: I had to go to the ER because of my sugar levels. I got there at 6pm, didn't see a Dr until 3:30am only to be discharged at 4:30am. I was there for 11 hours only to be told you're fine. Of course I was, after being there for 11 hours my sugars became regular. The staff was nice and I'll continue with my Drs there but will I go back to their ER, no way. I'll go somewhere else or just wait for an Urgent Care to be open. Just be warned if you go to the ER be prepared to wait.
LaToya Clark: Horrible service from nurse and doctor on duty on 10/08 at 11pm. No one told me what the issue was with my back, gave me pain meds and sent me home. When I got to the hospital there were no blisters on my back, I informed the doctor and nurse and no one took a look at it. When ask what the issue was, I was told that its a sprain muscle based off eyesight. Mind you no one told me, I literally had to ask the nurse) I was giving the pain medication and also asked can Idrove off of the medicine in which I was a bit drowsy after, the nurse told me “it’s not like percs and I would be ok to drive.” Horrible service ever
Amee Porter: Just got home from the ER with my mother in law. I am her primary caregiver and I was concerned she had an infection. Everyone was so kind from the moment we walked in. Her nurse was Carl and he was so awesome and so personable! AND he got her IV in on tge first try which NEVER happens! That alone was a big deal for her. The doctor that saw her was Dr. Neal Surendra Patel and he was so kind and caring. I think he could tell how scared i was but he really put me at a ease. Right now it is scary to go to any ER but everyone was so wonderful. I know the type of reviews that this hospital gets...trust me..i worked there in the 90s but I honestly do believe they have worked very hard to be a great hospital!! I trust them way more than Mercy! Thank you all for being so kind today! We really appreciate all of you!
Rob Grothman: Unfortunately, Mom has been here several times for falls or fainting spells.Everytime we have been here I have been pleasantly surprised. It probably isn't the fanciest E-Room around, but I'd rather have kind caregivers and effective doctors than flashy architecture.
Berkel Law: Quick, efficient intake, triage & treatment. Knowledgeable and caring techs, nurses & physicians.
