Harry “Two” Partl II: I have now lived here in St. Louis Missouri for a year now. I moved here from Tacoma Washington were I lived after being medically retired from the Marine Corps in 99. In 2000 I was classified as 100% disabled by the Department of Veterans Affair, after struggling for over years and continues trips to the VA, my boss in Washington state got someone who breads service dogs to donate their litter to the market he ran to pair up to Veterans to have trained for service dogs for them. My SD and I have gone through years of training and I happen to have videos of her performing tasks on YouTube. One such task is here scanning my bus pass on the Pierce Transit buses in Tacoma, which so happens that Pierce Transit has now been using for the past 2-3 years now to train their new drivers on how to recognize a actual service dog and how they perform on their buses. They have been using this over 2,000 times now. Since moving to St. Louis I have been consistently having troubles with the bus drivers with metro. Such problems like them asking inappropriate questions and questions that I can’t even give because there is no federal identification for service dogs. I have also had one driver try to kick me off the bus because I didn’t and have no way to produce a service dog ID because they don’t exist. I have had at least three drivers drive right past me wile I was standing at the bus stop because my service dog was with me and me and my VA social worker has called them to make them aware of thees issues and with in a years time there has been no improvement what so ever. How ever because I hate to have this be totally bad report, I do have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed using call-a-ride because those Drivers understand that I would not be using that service if I was not disabled and they are extremely respectful to my service dog. Thank you so much call-a-ride for being my ray of light in this dark time. So metro please fix this issue with your drivers before it escalates into something much worse. Thanks.

Patrick Richmond (Streetcar1664): Call-a-Ride is a good service. Especially those who are in their 50s or with a disability. One one thing they need to do. The equipment Metro Call-a-Ride is running are NOT vans. They are trucks with bus bodies installed. What does need to be done is to have the springs swapped to help improve the ride. The rear springs on the Call-a-Ride vehicles are designed to haul pallets and not people.
