Ms Buchanan: The gentleman was very nice and even gave me a doughnut to take with me to try. However, these doughnuts were dry and borderline stale. Not a fan at all. Sadly, I will not be returning.

Capt. Gray Beard: This place is one of the finest donut shops I've ever been to in so long I can't even remember. It's a mom and pop place, and the mom and pop are just down to earth really really good people. But if you're in the area you really got to stop and try this place out!

I'm not able to go into the establishment, so I have to order online. When I called to let them know that I didn't get what I ordered, I was told that if they don't have what i want by the time they get to my order, I get what's left and that could be anything. I've told them that it would be nice to get a courtesy call or something to let me know so I can at least get something I may like. IMHO the Bavarian Cream at Vincent Van Doughnut is the best donut I have ever eaten in my life. It is the Holy Grail of Doughnuts! A perfect balance between sweet and creamy packaged in an airy yeast doughnut shell. If you're in St. Louis, stop by Vincent Van Doughnut, you won't regret it!

Sara Lorentz: These are the best donuts you will ever have! We've been getting donuts here for years. These are the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest donuts you will ever taste. I cannot accurately explain the texture but it's not your average donut texture. It's a thick donut, but not heavy. Light weight and almost airy. Not chewy, melts in your mouth. Also their chocolate frosting is delicious and there's always just enough on each donut. More of a thinner glaze than a thick heavy frosting.The long john is my top recommendation, but I've never had anything bad here. I've had glazed, chocolate cake chocolate frosting, vanilla cake chocolate frosting, blueberry cake and an apple fritter.This is a small mom and pop type shop, don't plan to dine in. Grab your dozen and head out. Also, get there early. By mid-morning they've sold many of their donuts and you won't have the best selection. Chocolate long johns are popular so I try to get there super early for them. They can be sold out by 9am.

Cody Cummings: I’m on the fence with Strange Donuts. I’ve tried their maple bacon donut and their gooey butter cake donut. They weren’t bad, but they also weren’t good. I appreciate the flavor combo ideas and the effort that goes Into adapting an iconic STL dessert into a donut, but something is just kind off. The gooey butter cake tasted more like a sugary paste on top of dense chewy donut. The sweetness was over the top on both, and the underlying flavor of the dough seemed masked by the sugar. I like the atmosphere of the shop and the staff is friendly. I think you should go and make your own opinion, and that’s why I’m leaving this as a 3 star review.
Noah Nieder: My girlfriend and I both got two donuts. One of them was fine but the gooey butter cake donut was rancid. It was so bad that my girlfriend threw it away only eating half of it. The next day after eating it she got extremely sick and we're pretty sure it gave her food poisoning. Would not recommend. You'd have better luck at old town donuts.

Jason LaBarbera: Great place to go to if you immediately want to develop diabetes. I got the gooey butter donut and could only eat about half of it (It was fun to eat but extremely rich). I think that was the point, so not really a let down or anything. Just not really for me.
chelsea kiser: Almost all of the donuts we ordered were just donuts with a plain glaze on them. There was a pink glaze, 2 blue glaze, 2 chocolate glaze, vanilla glaze, plain glaze and then a chocolate peanut butter (no filling) and maple bacon (was not good), a red goop filled one, a very plain cakey cinnamon and sugar. The only “strange” donut was a gooey butter donut. They truly tasted like they came from Wal Mart bakery and strange donuts rebranded with their own very plain glazes. What’s the point of ordering something “strange” if there aren’t even any flavors?

Kyle Eckert: Went to the Maplewood location for my daughter's Birthday breakfast, expecting the bright display case and cheerful music from days past. What we entered was a sad display with sadder donuts, with rap blasting from a speaker.We should have guessed from the lack of a line what to expect.The kids were excited, so we purchased donuts but quickly asked for a refund to take out business elsewhere, since the donuts did not appear fresh. We didn't try them, but they were sad looking and we didn't want sad donuts from a birthday breakfast.Our last experience here was great, but a few years ago. It seems theyve stopped trying to deliver good donuts or a good experience, and argued with me about a refund when I explained the disappointment.Never again.
Anna Eckert: What happened?!?! This place used to be so cool!!! Now there are almost no doughnuts on display, and they looked to be 5 days old. We came here hoping it would be a fun thing for my daughter's birthday and was very disappointed.
Tim Phelps: Just plain old donuts. They were okay. I didn't like them only having display donuts, instead of showing them all in a case. It's just nice to see what you're getting.
Barb Dineen: Service wasn't very friendly this time. The cake donuts were delicious but the cinnamon roll was very dry unfortunately. Unusal experience this go around. Will try again and hope for a more welcoming customer service person.
Samuel DiLorenzo: Creative names/gimmicks with extremely mediocre flavor, bad aftertaste and overpowering sweetness. If you want to spend the money and consume the empty calories there are many better donuts to eat close by. Very pricy but does not deliver. It is a Walmart doughnut decorated by a 3rd grade craft fair. Just bad.
Paul Lewis: If I was dying of hunger and had to walk one mile for strange donuts or ten miles for literally another donut shop in STL, I’d choose the ten miles. Even if it meant…risking death.

Just thought I'd give them a try as I was running behind and I needed some delivered rather than adding an extra stop and pharaoh's wasn't an option for delivery.

Laura Giest: Came in on a cold, rainy Friday and needed four dozen donuts for a work function. They had a decent variety and the donuts were delicious! Also, very well priced. The gentleman that worked there was also polite and courteous. Also, they do accept debit/credit cards which is a plus!
Donald Endicott: Got off the night shift Sunday morning and the shop wasn't open at 5am when I stopped by. Update the hours of operation so people don't waste their time.
