Change, Inc. St. Louis Counseling: what do users think?
Amy Adams: Ryan, the founder, has curated the best of the best. If you are looking for compassionate, challenging, and clinically sound counseling, this is the place to be.
Seth Lindsey: Had to update my review after some less than pleasant experiences. My original therapist, Laura was absolutely great, but bound by some less than great policies.First, I'd been attending therapy here weekly for well over a year and was one-time for every appointment. Then once I mixed up the time and was an hour late. No reaching out to see if I was ok, only to make sure payment was made.On another occasion I'd had to reschedule a couple appointments. One was nearly a week in advance, and the other nearly 48 hours. Then an email was received stating if another appointment was missed or rescheduled they'd drop me as a client until I was fully able to commit to the therapeutic process... In 5 years I could count on one hand how many times I'd cancelled or rescheduled, and that email was a literal shock.Lastly, hourly rates skyrocketed during my time there.
Michaela C.: Great company! I love my therapist, and am so thankful I can afford such wonderful services and resources!
Hope Haywood: I have only been going a short time but these past few weeks have been life changing for me! I highly recommend this place for anyone who is thinking about going to therapy.
Morgan Overbey: I’m really really happy with my decision to start therapy here, it’s the first time that i’ve felt fully comfortable with a therapist in my life. I was pulled in by the progressive vibes of the company and I wasn’t disappointed. I definitely recommend Change Inc!
Yvi Martin: Change, Inc. is the top of my list for counseling referrals. Every person I have sent here shares their experience of growth and change for the better. The therapists are top notch. Ryan Neace has assembled a counseling team like no other and he himself is passionately dedicated to the commitment that every client receive excellent care.
Sarah Coleman: Starting therapy is never an easy thing, but here I was put at ease. I am thankful for the kind, caring and empathic services received all the way around. Ryan has been wonderful throughout the process and allowed me to feel heard and provided me with additional resources as needed. It has been so helpful for my growth and healing and I am thankful for the work they all do!!
Chelsea Brooks: I have not used their services but the company responses to the negative reviews is enough of a deterrent. Majority seem like a template response with specific jabs added to the end of it. With mental health, customer service and mindfulness are extremely important because you’re dealing with fragile individuals. I see neither mindfulness nor adequate customer service from whomever has been in charge of responding to reviews. The responses alone make me want nothing to do with this company…Edit: the response literally validates my main point. Firstly, “fragile” as in sensitive, not as in easily falling apart like the stigmatic connotation. Secondly, “people like you” is exactly the jab I mean. I’ve looked at and used other services where they are more considerate with their responses and do not attack the reviews. Honestly, you feel how you feel but I specifically stated that the company does not respond well to negative comments and that’s what the deterrent was. Whomever responds to comments didn’t even properly address that and I find it hard to believe that every person who left a poor review became abusive with staff. That is what I meant by customer service, because I’ve worked in customer service for 5 years. So yes, there is a way to de-escalate a situation without making the person out to be the bad guy. If you have a company open to the public you have to accept that you are going to have bad reviews and I believe I can leave a review if I see something I do not like. Which I did. And I’m not being abusive or difficult. I’m stating what I see and the impression it left me with.
Emily Crites: Honestly, do yourself a favor and don’t go here. They aren’t well organized. They aren’t engaged in sessions and I just never FELT GOOD here when I left my sessions. If you want someone to just listen to you, go talk to a random stranger in the park for free. That’s the quality of therapy you’ll get here. There are many good emotionally productive therapists in St Louis, but not Change Inc.LIFE UPDATE: actually I went to another professional that did a MUCH BETTER job. Instead of spending an hour talking in circles, I got EMDR for my trauma AND was diagnosed with ADHD that Change Inc. could not even recognize! I ACTUALLY made progress!!! It was amazing to have an office that actually returned calls in a timely manner (critical for working with ADHD patients) and worked to help me with resolution. I guarantee I did not feel bad at Change Inc because of progress. It was definitely a lack of progress that was painful.
Admin UrbanHarvestSTL: Urban Harvest STL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing St. Louisans with equitable access to fresh, healthy food regardless of socioeconomic status, race or location. We grow healthy produce across a network of urban farms in the heart of St. Louis and donate the majority of the harvest to nonprofit partners serving communities with limited or non-existent access to healthy, nutritious food. We also prioritize education and community engagement as critical components to helping folks achieve food sovereignty. We began partnering with Change, Inc. in 2016 and ever since they have generously sponsored our Harvest Dinner and Happy Hour series, as well as helped spread awareness of our organization. It has been a pleasure to work with them and we are grateful for their commitment to creating a healthier St. Louis!
Catina Floore: Good luck !!! I tried to seek counseling for my husband and I a week and half ago and was told by Katie that they could help us. Katie and I agreed up on Sunday counseling for my husband and I. I reach out to her and told her that I was ready to pay and she told me that we were not a good fit for their program !!! I ask her why, and she told me that she reached out to me twice within two weeks and I did not respond. I told her that I am a busy lady and that I travel from one job to another and she hung up on me and when I tried to call back to make sure that it was a mistake she block me ! I’m confused about what determines us for a good fit!!! What is a good fit ??? We need counseling !! What kind of business are you operating ??Thanks Katie for letting me know that your company was not a good fit for us!!! You are very rude . No company should have you representing their business !! You do not know how to deal with the public in a professional manner ..04/16/21Let’s set this record straight !!!!!!!!Good morning, I’m responding to your comment. First of all, you never judge a book by its cover !! You don’t know what my financial situation is. You don’t know what I could and can’t afford!!! I called and spoke to rude Katie, letting her know that I was ready to make my first payment . I don’t keep up with the Jones. I’m not going to throw my hard earned money into something that I can’t afford. I was never rude or disrespectful to you or your staff!! Your and your staff needs to treat people the way that you would like to be treated. I would never get out of my body with someone who is helping me. And as far as Katie, I pray for her, because she is going to run into the right one . You tell her that the rule is, if you want respect you have to give respect . You also tell her to research Carmel !! And when Carmel comes back to her, she needs to think about how she have treated people. And by the way, my financial situation is good and I am a Black Boss!!
The Listening, Inc.: The Listening, Inc. is a community of people dedicated to engaging, changing, and saving lives with the performing arts through community engagement and youth programing in Lynchburg, VA. We believe that the arts can be used to make an impact on lives beyond entertainment, particularly in social justice, education and mental health. Our relationship with Change, Inc. began in 2020 during which time they have generously supported mission and helped spread awareness of our organization. We are so grateful for their investment in our community!
GITK Admin: Girls in the Know, a nonprofit that empowers girls to embrace a strong sense of self, began partnering with Change, Inc. in 2020. Change, Inc. has generously supported our Knowledge & Power Gala, helped our Ambassadors stay connected during the pandemic, and have recently joined our Advisory Council. Because of their investment in our girls, it is clear that they care about the people of St. Louis! We are so grateful for their partnership, to have a resource to be able to provide referrals to our girl grads and trusted adults, and to have an outlet for support for an increasing number of our own staff who understand that advocating for our girls’ mental health and confidence starts with investing time in our own.
Clint Starks: This practice and team of therapists are well trained, helpful and the epitome of professional. I would highly recommend! Such a great group of people!
Don T: Just had an initial phone call and was shocked to find out that the first session was $259. I would argue that even for those of us that don’t fit into the sliding scale this is an outrageous initial cost.I can imagine so many scenarios where this will be a complete waste of money. Imagine if you didn’t feel comfortable with the person you spoke to or their approach wasn’t a good fit for you or their technique didn’t align with your needs.People are in dire need of services especially during Covid and it’s very disheartening to find out that an initial consultation would be that expensive. After they responded to my review I started reading all the other one star reviews and noticed that they even use canned responses. Its totally disingenuous to use a template to respond to peoples reviews.UPDATE: Contrary to Change Inc’s response to my review (which they now have appeared to have deleted) I was able to find a very nice well-suited professional therapist what is cheaper per hour and does not have a doubled fee for the initial consultation. I suggest you take their advice and look around. You will find somebody who is cheaper and doesn’t have such a high initial cost.
Aaron Lewis: With over a decade of connection with the Change Inc. team, I can say without a doubt that these individuals are some of the greatest people in their profession. Wisdom and guidance linked with purpose and compassion seem to be the driving force behind everything they do. Simply put, the impact that the Change Inc.team has had on my life cannot have a value placed on it.
Ibrahim Almalla: Very nice people!!!!
Tiffany Jones: Fantastic, well-trained counselors who genuinely care about you as a person and your healing process. Would highly recommend!
Cory Ball: This organization is top notch. I highly recommend them. Each of their staff have been so kind and friendly to me. They are experts in their field for sure. Having gone to several other counselors in the past, across the country even, that have been "budget counselors" I typically left those counseling sessions wondering why I was even spending the little that I was. With Change, not only does it fit into my mental health budget (Yes... everyone should have one of those) but I would pay twice as much as I am for the counsel I am receiving. They are THAT good. And I know that my mental health and my future investments are worth that. If you are looking for a counseling office that is simply in that upper echelon look no further. I am positive you will be satisfied, I know I am.
Hadeelah: Very good 👍
Lindsey Perkins: I have been a friend and colleague of Ryan's for over 15 years. I can truly say that Ryan is one of the most passionate people/ therapists I have ever known, and while I have not personally met many of the therapists at his practice, I trust Ryan’s values, standards, and judgment when it comes to building a team to care for those who are hurting and in need of care. I would trust him and his practice with those for whom I care the most.

Saint Louis Counseling: what do users think?
Amie Green: I never even got to have my first session because the woman answering the phone is both rude and incompetent. When I first called to make an appointment, it sounded like everything was fine. I asked about the sliding fee scale, which the woman assured me that as a recent college graduate, I would be paying no more than $30 per session. We scheduled my appointment, and I was told that paperwork would be sent to my email. The following week I still had not received an email so I called the office. The same woman answered the phone and said that she remembered talking to me. Then she went on to say that we had never scheduled an appointment due to "insurance issues." I don't even have insurance, so I'm not sure where this excuse came from. I informed her that I clearly had made an appointment as I had the date, time, and therapist's name written down. I asked about the fee once more and explained my financial situation as a recent, unemployed college graduate. The woman had the audacity to ask me how I was going to pay for my $30 fees as she curtly explained that I would be paying $120 per month for counseling sessions once a week. I guess she assumed that I couldn't multiply. I asked about the scheduled appointment we had made together a few days prior and she then informed me that the appointment would need to be rescheduled, despite beginning the call by saying that no appointment had even been scheduled. Finally, I gave up and planned to go to another place that was much more willing to work with me.I assumed that my appointment was cancelled and I would never hear from this place again, but I received an email at 11:30 pm from a therapist the day before my original appointment was scheduled. This person was not the original therapist I was scheduled with nor did she seem to know the time of the appointment as her email states that she "thinks we are scheduled for ____." All in all, there appears to be a lack of professionalism and communication at this place, and for a counseling center focused on mental health, the receptionist was blunt and rude.
