William Dunn-Sarmiento: Their website provides false information.The Marriage Records Department is not open weekends, contrary to their official government website.Don’t bother calling either. They don’t answer any day of the week and their phone system times you out after a short while, with no way to leave a message or anything.
Quintinus Gherardini: What else could be expected from a government employee? I was 3rd in line and the employee I saw eed agitated to be there. I'm sorry you are having a rough day but being short with a citizen will not make it better.
Carole H: I ran into this cool looking old building on a walk one day. I didn't know that it had been burned by a fire and i thought that it was just a really, really interesting looking old building. There are so many homeless people in the park directly across Market Street that it is just awful. I ended up buying a bunch of inexpensive food the next morning on my way out of town and distributed it evenly amongst the homeless. It's just too awful to try and live with oneself when so many people are hungry.
Harsh Goel: The building still has the burns from the fire but it's antique look and amazing architecture still make it a must see!

Rocio De Santiago: It really shouldn't be so difficult to register your car. There's a queue you're supposed to sign up for but even as #3 in the queue, there were 7 people in front of me. Took 25 min to serve one person. There's only 1 person from 8am - 9am so getting here early isn't even helpful anymore. Someone please explain to me how a working class member is supposed to afford to pay taxes and also afford to have time robbed while trying to pay taxes? If they're gonna use a queue, there should be a kiosk so that it's accessible and I'm not signing up for nothing. It is such an unpleasant experience to be #3 in queue and have 7 people ahead of me when I need to be at work.Government services are supposed to be for the people, not to cripple it's citizens with petty inconveniences that cost us a fortune.This experience explains the amount of unexpired vehicles in St Louis. Ineffective procedures breeds non existent vehicle registrations.
Caroline Foston (C-Note): Went to get my address change in my identification card and had a problem there with a young black worker. Why is it it out on kind blacks who hinder you from getting what you need. I had everything they asked for but she refused to give me the address change. Blacks we need to do better. When I went to get my birth certificate today I had no problem from a white lady. But as always it's us blacks that hinder ine another. I should give it no stars but due to my birth certificate I'll give it one star

emma dope: The service was terrible and the workers weren't knowledgeable about anything. I waited three hours and still got nothing done.
Pearl Burns: Upon entrance the security guards were more than grateful to help. Being someone with a physical disability it was really nice to have the assistance of the staff to properly handle myself. The generosity and gratitude didn't stop at the guards, the staff inside the room I had visited was polite and patient while I gathered my paperwork. The waiting process is the most stressful part, due to a 2hr waiting process. Overall this place has exceptional service.

Yolanda Connor: Don't answer their phone half the time don't return calls, rude sounding even the voicemail take too long for anything regarding certain parts of university city. I truly believe I know there's separatism although areas pay their taxes all these areas don't get the same services deserved and well needed from a public service.

Janet: Tried to speak with someone about a permit that was left open from before I moved in, was put on hold after I told them my address, and then they just left me on hold and apparently left for the day. After 20 minutes it finally hung up on me. Most unprofessional employees.
vibinwith kiya: The review itself is in regards of me getting my occupancy permit. Inspector Haggins is awesome. She came and seen the work i needed done and ensured me that she would make that happen then some due to a lack of uncaring landlords. Grateful it's still good people who still empathize for one another. Thank you inspector Haggins❤️🙂

Emmy Dimes: Y'all should manage your paperwork properly. I just got a violation for "lack of occupancy permit".... I've lived here for 4 years. My kids attend your schools. We have invested thousands into our property (inside and out). We are avid supporters of this community regardless of how our property and we are treated. I'm a bit put off that you came to inspect my home based on "a letter you received" before reviewing your records and/or contracting the homeowner 🙋 perhaps you could try this before putting a scarlet letter on my front door. Thanks.

City hall is closed because of COVID19 however there's no information regarding the closure anywhere. Not on the city hall website nor phone call directory. What a waste of time. I worry that I have to deal with these people after we move to university city.

Caught them lying and then they turn very aggressive.Been there numerous times dealing with permit and utilities issues and found that they are also discriminate against you .I have been to city managers and mayors office several times and they never once return calls or folow up.They are money hungry and look for ways to fee thier residents .
Carrie Justin: The people were as friendly as you'd expect and government agent...which is never good. The biggest problem is that the building is falling apart...no working elevator. Hope no one else has a disability when trying to follow city ordinances.
Andrew Oberman: I am here now to pay my fee for being an agent to the property I own. I give them the same information year after year. These past two years are the worst.I am the only one here. It took twenty minutes to complete the task. Either the employee is not trained properly or the process is too comlicated. Either way it needs to improve. Willing to help if asked.

Britt M: The ladies that work here in the office no nothing about the construction business, verbiage or what permits are needed and how things are done. They are rude and not helpful at all, yet that’s whos in the Community and Development Department ! How does that make any sense!? By far the worst City Hall I’ve ever come across. Poor customer service, poor knowledge, poor attitudes. Everything you apply for takes forever to obtain, it’s a joke.
David Stein: Local government is better than it used to be. But taxes are still very high compared to other regional municipalities yet the returns are standard at best. The medium and residential roads are unkept and the 6th thru high Schools are undesirable. On the up side, the Police force are the best in whole of the metro St.Louis area they are diverse, fare, helpful and staffed with intelligent people. The Loop business district has changed over the years. It's not as attractive to me as it used to be but it's still a nice place to grab a bite, see a show and do a bit of light shopping. If there is such a thing as too gentrified, then the loop is it. It used to be a amazing melting pot of style and culture . It still is to some degree but has just lost some of the pizazz and now caters more to the predominant college crowd.

D S: Elaine the resources reception wouldn't let you finish your sentence I called to find out some information she rudely cut me off numerous of times before she even knew what the question was. After I was finally able to speak and asked when the event was instead of answering my question and her being the human resource liaison " you need to read the website" so definitely don't call in because she will not listen and will make you feel as if you are a burden. Really made me reconsider coming to any event

Alisa Hill: I was dropping my daughter off at college, and now I fear for her due to the rudeness and DISRESPECT of the police that ticketed us. We were lost and trying to follow g.p.s. Which kept losing signal, he didn't care, he was very nasty and smart-mouthed! He was near a church (black congregation ) it seemed like he was stalking the late-comers, and this was his usual practice so be careful Sunday worshippers! Jackson Street speeding ticket $130.00! REDICULOUS! Pretty obvious that if you're in the right (caucasion) part of town you can drive fast as you want and nobody gets pulled over! Next time I won't go down Jackson Street, just stay in WashU area for safety measures! And by the way you polices need to practice your penmanship if you're going to continue writing bogus tickets! Had to Google to get court info.
Nina Scott: The worst I can't wait to get out of there. The police are unfriendly won't even speak to the children. They ticket you for anything, you can't even park in front of you own home where you pay taxes at without purchasing a village sticker. This village sticker thing is just another money grab. This Village needs to be dissolved. The Village Sticker is just another tax on the residents who've already paid taxes on their vehicles with the state. They don't maintain the vacant lots, the workers there have a terrible do nothing attitude, and they are full of excuses. If I could give them a negative I would.

T. Kbrow: I am a very unhappy resident in velda village hills. Been in the neighborhood for some years and it use to be ok but they are now allowing anybody to move in the neighborhood I mean anybody. I am so ready to move but I do not feel I should be ran out by uncaring people. I wish that the people in City Hall that hold positions of authority would make sure things are right and that everybody follows the rules and regulations.
Jamie Barton: Very rude. I can appreciate a city wanting everything to be on the up and up but they make it very difficult to move there and very difficult to move out. Their occupency permit policies are not typical so make sure to ask clarifying questions and be ready to be treated like you are stupid when doing so.
Thee Bachelorette: It took 23 mins to pay a $90 ticket. Went there in the daytime and felt like it was past midnight when I left. Smdh.

Jessica Plaggenberg: We had the reception for our October 2022 wedding at the Shrewsbury Sunset Room located at the Shrewsbury City Center. This venue is a hidden treasure that more local brides should really consider! While this space is not an all inclusive venue, it is extremely affordable and a very pretty space. This space is perfect for DIY and minimalist brides and anyone working with a limited budget.We had 91 guests (11 tables + 1 head table) along with various additional tables, and there was plenty of space for us. There are several rules for the space that made use very flexible with us (no required in-house caterers, can bring in your own alcohol and bartender, etc.).There are a number of rental options for their space (day of, 2 days, 3 days) depending on your set up needs. We chose the least expensive option, 1 day (11 hours), which meant members of the bridal party and our family had to go set up a few hours before the ceremony (which worked out great for us).Lauren with Shrewsbury City Hall was extremely helpful and quick to respond to my plethora of questions. I was able to come by several times over the year of planning to walk through the room, take measurements, etc. Marty the onsite, day of maintenance guy was very helpful in running ice, removing trash, and available for questions.The space is tucked back in the Shrewsbury neighborhood, but not too far from highway 44 and nearby hotels.
