Art And Frame Restoration . COM: what do users think?
zh hicks: 5.28.2023 We brought a silk painting that had suffered in a damp basement for years, and Art and Frame Restoration pulled off a miracle, cleaning and restoring the painting far beyond what we could have hoped for! We highly recommend checking them out.
Rosanna Ayala: Tina and company reframed very old and priceless paintings given to me by my grandfather. I initially brought them to another framing company who declined to work on the paintings. They said they could not figure out how to remove the original frames that were glued, nailed and secured so tightly they deemed it impossible to free them without causing damage. I then brought the paintings to Tina who inspected them and was confident she could work with them. She is also a wonderful framing designer who helped me select the perfect frames to complement the artwork. The result was eye-catching, stunning pieces that enhanced the living spaces in my new home! They are so beautiful and bring me so much joy whenever I look at them! Thank you, Tina, and to your wonderful team!
Laurie Hartung: This place is a treasure, and they do great work! Tina is so knowledgeable and highly skilled. Love this place!
Lisa Rueschhoff: A piece of art which was my grandmother's from Italy fell and the frame broke apart into pieces, I couldn't had been more upset. Tina and her crew restored and repaired the frame as if nothing ever happened to it. In fact it felt more sturdy than ever. Everyone additionally was extremely kind and professional I will absolutely return if I ever have any art or framework needs. The w9rk she and her crew do is awesome to say in short ! I highly recommend 👌
Katie Delmez: We have owned a rare primitive New Guinea art piece for many years. It is made of various sizes of very small shells, animal hair, original color stained detail and finely carved wood.Unfortunately, the original leather hanger failed and the entire piece crashed to the floor. Hundreds of small fragments were scattered on the floor. It was unlikely that it could be repaired.I did take all pieces to Tina at Art & Frame Restoration. After several months of Tina’s tedious and intricate work, I was shocked to see the finished piece! She also attached a no-fail safety hanger to the back! Our cherished treasure is now back hanging in a prominent space on our wall!Thank you to Tina and her talented crew for performing such an amazing restoration.
Kathleen Wooten: This shop does masterful framing and restoration work. Impeccable! I have used their skilled workmanship for both frame restoration and framing and matting of a new piece. Highly recommend.
Pamela Hampton: So glad we trusted them with our artwork. The restoration results were incredible! The process really brought it back to life. And as a bonus, they are great to work with.
Kimberly Combest: We have a painting that was done by my great grandfather over 50 years ago, it has been through quite the journey, even left the family and came back through an auction.Means so much to our family and the team at Art and Frame Restoration, not only took the time to listen and explain what could be done and things of concern, but took this painting with care and made it absolutely beautiful with the careful touch-ups and framing. Ended crying after getting it hung up at home. Forever grateful, and definitely recommended. Before and after pics attached. Thank you Team!
Elizabeth Curcio: Tina has framed/repaired half a dozen pieces for me transforming them into masterpieces! Her taste and workmanship are unique and exquisite.
Debbie Throne: Art & Frame Restoration saved several pieces of art created by my long dead grandmother and mother. The quality of their restoration was excellent. They took time to consult with us regarding framing and kept us informed with each step in the process. When I picked up the finished pieces, I cried at seeing my precious paintings fully restored. They treated me as if I were leaving museum quality artwork with them, understanding their sentimental, priceless value to me.
Eric Landwehr: They did a fantastic job on the restoration of a painting and frame that has been in our family for over 100 years.
Cindy B: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueGiving a “Shout out to Tina and her team!” For doing an exceptional job on an extremely old oil painting from Germany, that was a priceless family heirloom. I could not be happier with the repairs that they were able to complete and the color restoration that they performed. I would recommend this company to everyone.
John McCallister: After my wife inherited a 100+ year old mirror whose frame was in bad shape. We reached out to Art and Frame Restoration in attempt to refinish the frame to its original luster. We were given an estimate and the work began. Art and Frame Restoration meticulously restored cleaned and brought back to life my family heirloom. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the professional work that they did. It has given new life to this mirror and we will treasure it forever.
Ellen Mell: Positive:Professionalism,QualityWe have been using Art and Frame Restoration for years. So much talent!!! Owner Tina has a knack for making each project special, and the outcome is always gorgeous. From straightforward to complex, they exceed my expectations every time.
Kathy Evans: I took in a piece of art I had, composed of cut up fragments of embroidered cloth, that my mom made years ago. It is one of the only things I have from her. It was knocked off the wall and the glass broke. When I took it to be reframed (at Ciocci's, a great frame shop!) they referred me to Tina Crist. She took it all apart, made some recommendations. I've learned to let artistic people do their thing, so I agreed to her suggestions. I was nervous about it, but it came out absolutely beautiful, beyond what I could imagine. It means a great deal to me and now the presentation is exquisite: pieces are fixed so they don't float around, with a shadow box mounting and a gorgeous frame. I can't thank you enough, Tina. Sometimes looking at it brings tears. My mom would have loved it.
Suzanne Jones: Did a great job of restoring a print that had of all things cat urine damage. Love how they were able to save it from having me throw it the trash bin. As well they did a wonderful job of matting and framing, so it now can be proudly shown in my home.
Steve Cochran: I brought in an old, damaged family photo. The staff was very receptive to my needs. Two different options were provided to me. One, a restoration of the entire image. Two, a different look with judicious cropping. The young lady who prepared the images was thoughtful and helpful. I highly recommend this locally owned business. Thank you!
Harlee Sorkin: Tina took the time to brainstorm strategies on a difficult to repair chip on an oil painting. The chip was in a gradient sky with a glossy oil coat over the top. Color match was spot on. Sheen difference is only noticeable under close inspection in direct light. This I learned is due to the fact that you never restore with the same material so that it is ultimately reversible. I learned this because Tina took the time to explain the rationale behind her strategy. Thank you for the work on a prized family piece.
David N Johnson: Tina greeted us and assessed the pieces we brought in for repair and restoration. She is a library! We were enthralled with her knowledge of history and the pieces we had. We were given a tour of the facility and are amazed at the variety of projects undergoing repair or restoration. Mr. Gilbert is in good hands!
Heidi Hughey: I brought a 1959 original still life oil painting to Art and Frame Restoration. The frame and painting had been badly damaged during a move cross country after having been in my parents home since 1959. It also showed signs of rotting due to the age and being in a home with close proximity to the ocean, and lots of sun from large picture windows, etc. the art restorers here brought it back to life well beyond my expectations. The reframing was perfect and stayed within the original mid-century design. I know my parents would have been delighted! I can now enjoy this work of art in my own home for many years to come. It will certainly outlive me. The artist through her work will live on and will be appreciated by younger generations.
Julie Schaberg: Remarkable job repairing our damaged art work! Took care of a small rip in one, and a rippled canvas in the other. They are completely restored. Amazing results. We are thrilled!

Tristan Mackenzie: Awesome shop for anything framing or restoration.
Kate Trad: My grandfather attended a military boarding highschool in 1905 and his jacket is beautifully framed and behind glass now, hanging in my living room . Thank you Tina, your work is exquisite.
Gilbert Daniel: Very nice , extremely professional A+
Sue Palmer: Just had a small painting framed here and the level of expertise and care was so impressive. I would most enthusiastically recommend them for any framing or restoration needs.
Randy Moore: I recently had a painting made for me, and I needed the perfect frame to finish it off. Tina at "Home Is Where The Art Is" was more than helpful with advice from her extensive selection of frames. Furthermore, quality is of utmost importance in things that I buy, and she did not disappoint in that respect, either. And she is very skilled in restorations and cleanings, so I'm sure I have a few pieces where in future she can help me with that as well. I would recommend her to help anyone who prizes their artworks.
Laurice Bankhead: I was nervous to hand my family documents and old wedding photo and frame over to anyone but they were all in desperate need of stabilizing. I met with Tina and she was very friendly and reassuring. I told her money was an issue but that I needed to do what I could to preserve the artifacts. She helped me find a reasonable solution. I just picked everything up and I am very pleased with all that was done.
chuck hart: As an artist and art collector I take most of my fine art to "Home' because of the expertise, reasonable pricing and friendly employees.
Jonathan Wilford: I recently had my great grandmothers painting restored. They did an amazing job. The painting is close to 100 years old, they were able to clean it and maintain the original beauty. I’m so excited to hang it. It will be a piece that will be handed down for generations. Tina and her staff were friendly and great to work with. I would recommend them to anybody. I plan on having them restore another painting in the near future. Thank you Home is Where The Art Is!
Paula Mortenson: I just picked up my picture. They did a wonderful job! This water colored had been in my husband’s family for over 30 years and ignored in the basement for the last 10 years. They did a beautiful refabrication . We are so pleased!
Clare Grumney: Tina is a genius at art restoration, and a truly passionate student of her respective field. Her expertise and skillset are vast, and her natural curiosity and devotion to her work is impressive. I would highly recommend her services for both art restoration and framing.
james e: I've had several great experiences with this team of artists. Most recently, Tina restored two water-damaged old silk prints from my great grandparents. The care she took and decisions she helped me with will make me a regular client. Thank you.
Ann Kastendieck: Tina did an excellent restoration on 2 oil paintings and a watercolor. Also on an antique wood carving and 2 very old pieces of needlework. They all look so much nicer in the new frames. See before and after pictures on the watercolor.
Trtlman 39: This is a 'long delayed review' .. but this lady is stellar! She met my daughter and I on a Sat (battling an antibiotic res bug no less.) Guided us through/to the ult museum quality framing for the (b&w photography) art that was Hope's apt warming gift post college! As a collector and 'informed type' of such .. Tina is in class of her own! Amazing
Gail Saxton: A radiator malfunction in the storage area of a rural 19th-century country inn bathed the hotel's treasured collection of 26 oil paintings in moisture for hours. The owners (our friends) feared the paintings were permanently damaged because they looked awful. We transported them to St. Louis and thankfully found Tina. She brought every one of them back to life without applying any new paint. They now look better than before the disaster, with decades of dirt removed, and all are proudly displayed once again. Tina's expert work on these paintings was absolutely remarkable. We've used her company many times since. An appreciation for history, superb craftsmanship, great value, wonderful people -- we are deeply grateful.
Tim Naes: Unbelievable workmanship. And an amazingly knowledgeable staff. Wouldn't take my stuff anywhere else.
Kevin Westley: Great prices and very good results
John Metcalf: Tina restored oil portraits damaged by fire. The results were amazing. We have wall decor and memories restored with kindness and with a professional manner. Beautiful joy....so grateful...jm
Melody C: Tina, the owner, was very helpful and friendly. I had an original self portrait painting on canvas that was damaged. They repaired and repainted the canvas. I cannot tell it was ever damaged!
Justin Roberts: Brought in a pen and ink drawing that the previous owner had glued down to a non-acid free board. Tina safely removed the drawing from the board, and it is now housed in a beautiful custom frame under museum glass. Best part is the piece was ready a week sooner than was quoted. I could not recommend this place enough!
Markcus Felton: Had a beautiful print restored by this company, they were timely in getting the print restored and they did a beautiful jub. Tks so much
Ann M. Omura: Extraordinary! Everything HIWTHI has become a treasure. Framing, restoration and matting -- all superb.
