The teachers , the kids, considering I live in the city I didn't think it was possible to find such a great school because I intended on sending her to private school I went to orientation and I loved this school immediately she is however only in kindergarten on her first month but everything seems greatthe school immediately.
Angelica Earl: How about a real review: AVOID CHARTER SCHOOLS!School policies are stuck in the 90s. Almost every teacher is a carbon copy of the one in the room next to them. Lack of empathy among the staff. Mistreatment of those needing ADA. Half school days, yes, every day is a half day. Staff will put kids in physical danger, actually lost my kids for over 30 minutes and found them just over a mile away ON MANCHESTER. McCann told them to walk home without my permission, or anyone's permission. Teachers are not required to go over quizzes or tests to help students learn from their mistakes and are not required to show corrections for homework either. Staff has no regard for children's emotional needs or set backs. This school is actually a year behind public schools academically. Meaning math taught in 2nd grade at SLPS is taught in 3rd here.
Elena Janevska: We absolutely love the school! Our older daughter goes to Kennard now 1st grade and the younger one is at GSA. Based on our experience at both schools I would say GSA is excellent school as well!!! We love the staff, Mrs. McCann is outstanding, our KG teacher Mrs. Winschel is amazing, I would say one of the best!!! The methods of teaching worked well for what we are looking for. I highly recommend this school!!!

Nicole Bieser: The school is an AMAZING place! We have been apart of this gator family since 2011 (2nd year it was open) with two of my older kids. LOVE IT!!!! Even when things might get rough, the parents at this school and the other two campuses come together with admin to help each other. Just like FAMILY....my youngest just started this year in KG and we definitely would leave unless forced too. Staff/Admin are amazing and really want what's best for our kids. 100%+ BEST SCHOOL in the city for education

The teachers are great; admin listens. My youngest attended Mason Elem for Pre-K, and although that school was also fine — in general, Mason, as a “regular” StL public school school felt very big and scary and I never even met administration. At GSA, everyone knows our name — has a small-town school feel to it.

Mike: First of all, the poor reviews are from former students as far as I can tell. They appear to be making a review in jest and think that a bad review is funny. They will not understand how hurtful an uneducated online post can be until they are adults themselves, so take their posts with a grain of salt...we have sent our son since kindergarten and now he’s in 2nd grade. It has been a wonderful experience. Diversity, education, staff have all been excellent. There had not been one surprise or anything we have questioned. From day 1 our son has been pushed academically and he has thrived. The teachers have been great and understanding in the time of this pandemic. Their planning and patience shows how professional this school and its staff are! The curriculum is great with great focus on all subjects needed to successfully teach our children. We couldn’t be happier we chose GSA.
Anne Vincent: We love this school for our son. The administration and educators are easy to contact and did a great job during the pandemic to get parents information in a timely manner. Our son feels challenged and loves his classmates and teachers. The class sizes and homework load are age appropriate. We are in our third year and so happy with our decision to send our son to this diverse school.

Paulina Cruz: This is a true gem for people looking to send their children to a progressive school. This is a very welcoming community. Their curriculum is very dynamic and the experiential education philosophy is much more than I imagined. Last year my 4 yo learned about landmarks and maps. They talked about landmarks in St. Louis and used a St. Louis map to pin their homes, then applied math concepts by drawing to scale the distance from their homes to the school. They also studied how roads, rivers, streets are represented in a map. Each child picked a special place and drew a map from their home to their special place using different media (clay, wire, leaves, wood, pencil, etc). Finally they took a tour in the school bus to visit all the landmarks they had learned about. ALL these activities are documented with photos, teachers' notes and recordings. I really felt very connected to my son's learning experience. I need to add that I was also impressed to found out my son's pre-K teachers had masters' degrees in early childhood education, even the T.A. had a masters degree. I hope this helps explain what experiential education means and how wonderful it has been for us.
Kirk Stange: I am not happy with the experience at The College School and certainly cannot recommend it. We supported this school in many ways, including through our firm serving as a sponsor of a school fundraiser and sending multiple teachers at the school on a trip to another country. Our kids also attended this school for almost three school years before the relationship ended. While running a school is certainly not easy, in my opinion, this school has a lot to learn in terms of professionalism, empathy, listening, communication and compassion for the children and the families. The College School talks about "love" in their PR video, but I personally didn't see this "love" in my families time of need. Additionally, a greater working knowledge of how to accommodate and adapt to children with various special needs would also go a long way toward improving the school in my opinion. In the 3rd grade classroom with Matt Diller, my view is that this is seriously lacking.
Shaun Hautly: I've been filming video for promotional purposes this year. I graduated from the school in 1999, but it's been awesome to come back and conduct interviews with faculty, staff, and students. The passion of the teachers in unrivaled and the students astound me with their clarity of thought, even on camera. It's rare to see students of all ages so comfortable speaking with authority and confidence to adults and their peers.Proud to be a graduate, grateful to be a vendor.
