Belén Maliakkal: Great service and delicious food! I’ve been to other Peruvian restaurants in the St. Louis/St. Charles area, but I always return to Cocina Latina. They have the most authentic style food and their pollo a la brasa is delicious. Be sure to order extra green sauce because it is amazing! Their portions are much larger than other restaurants as well, which is something I appreciate.I see people have given bad ratings due to service, but I’d say this can happen at any restaurant. My experience has always been great and my family and I will continue to come.
Tenshi: They tipped themselves. LolI dislike such practices, so I won't be returning. Food is very good though

Alex @ Food Pedaler: After years of living in the Central West End, I finally came in to give Cocina Latina a try, and I was blown away by the food here! It was an absolutely delicious meal–so simple yet so flavorful. The staff were excellent and I didn't have to wait long at all for the food to come out. I will definitely be back here again!
Siyi Wang: a 25% gratuity is mandatorily added to the bill when you check out, but the service was the waiter never said a word to me. Me and my boyfriend ordered $30 and paid $46
Cristian Ademar Fernandez: La comida es buena, pero cobran demasiada propina y es obligatoria. The highest tip I've paid in my life.

William Matus: One of my favorite places to go in STL! Portions are huge and food is delicious!
Deirdre Lewis: The service was terrible. After being seated (they pointed at the table we had reserved and walked away), we had to get the waiter's attention to get drinks (we waited and didn't seem to be getting service anytime soon before trying to get the waiter's attention and it was not very busy). It took forever to get drinks, and when we got them, they were not good. When we finally got to order appetizers, we tried to also order our meals, since everything seemed to be taking a long time, but the waiter walked away before we even had a chance to say what we wanted. Not sad about it because we decided that we would just pay our bill and leave, since they clearly didn't want us there. The waiter spent most of his time leaning against the bar chatting with a buddy. The flavors of the apps were good, so I'm sad we didn't get to try more Peruvian food, because I think the food would have been really yummy, but we didn't want to stay in a place that didn't want us there. We were out for a double date night with friends and were looking to have a fun evening. When you have to work to get anything brought to the table, it's not fun anymore. Also, it cost $100 for 4 drinks and 4 apps, which I'm still trying to wrap my head around, since the apps were mostly in the $5-8 range.

Nixta: what do users think?
Matt Spencer: Just visiting to STL. We landed here on accident, because it's close to the botanical gardens. It was the food highlight of our trip. Best octopus I've had in the states.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Alex Besmer: Ah, Nixta. A place that defies conventional expectations, Nixta in Tower Grove, St. Louis, is a culinary masterpiece hidden in plain sight. The unassuming exterior might not catch your eye, but step inside and you'll find a quaint, colorful, and beautifully adorned space that promises a memorable experience. The decor is charming in its simplicity, yet immensely pleasing to the eye. It's not your typical fine-dining establishment, but that's where its charm lies. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, allowing you to focus on the real star of the show - the food. And what a gastronomic fiesta it is! Every dish is a revelation of flavors and textures, from the Guacamole and Escabeche, a vibrant medley of pickled vegetables, to the main plates that are nothing short of artworks. The Roasted Cauliflower, a rustic delight paired with Mexican squash and shishito pepper, redefines what vegetarian cuisine can be.Don't miss the Crab Empanada, where the richness of crab meets the crunch of a perfectly baked pastry. The Japanese Sweet Potato, while not on the online menu, is an unexpected yet delicious twist. Then there's the Chicken Tinga, a traditional dish bursting with flavor, and the Crispy Octopus, which is bathed in salsa macha and served with a refreshing broccolini salad and frijoles gigantes.Nixta presents Mexican cuisine as it should be - vibrant, fresh, and packed with flavor. It's not about oversized portions drowned in oil, but rather a thoughtful and beautifully curated family-style dining experience where each dish has its own identity and story. This isn't your regular Tex-Mex joint; this is a deep dive into authentic Mexican culinary arts.Everything about Nixta exudes passion and meticulous attention to detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the quality of the ingredients. If there's one place that serves authentic Mexican cuisine in St. Louis, it is undoubtedly here.Nixta, you've won our hearts (and stomachs). If there were a way to award six stars, we would not hesitate. Until then, a perfect five will have to do. Thank you for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

rosalind latham: It was cinco de mayo and we decided to go down to Cherokee street the day before the "big" celebration that they usually have. The streets were backed up with cars and people were arriving from all directions. We had walked a couple of blocks before we noticed Nixta, people were standing outside and we hadn't found any other places to eat, so we went inside. The line wasn't that long so my girlfriend went up to order some food, there were only three things on the menu and they only had one person taking the orders and the drink station was separate with a different person taking drink orders. I ordered the pork belly tacos and my girlfriend ordered the chicken tacos. The difference sauces were located on the counter so you had to go up and use a small cup to put some sauce in. They both were delicious but small so I tried to order another round but they had closed the kitchen already. We had a margaritas that was pretty strong but good. I guess they closed early to prepare for the next days events for cinco de mayo. We had a good time and called it a night.
Oniel Polanco: Over rated. Too expensive , the portion of food are for so small that I end up going somewhere else and have a Norma meal , and three drink for less…
Natalie Merli: Went on one of the busiest nights for them no doubt, Cinco de Mayo. We got there in the 9 o’clock hour and were told by the hostess, Natalie, we could sit at the bar if we wanted to be seated immediately luckily.Alex, the bartender gave us some great recommendations of mezcal cocktails, which were delicious. My drink was a special that night with green tea in it. Had the chips & killer salsa-so good, pork tacos, cilantro rice, & street corn (in bowl and almost soupy). Everything was delicious! Wrapped it up with three churros & the horchata ice cream. They had a live, authentic mariachi band with horns & accordion. Alex although busy, was very attentive. Glad we got to have a great Cinco de Mayo experience at this local gem.
Jennifer Ng'andu: Unhidden neighborhood gem in the heart of Shaw. Simple, but elegant. This is Mexican food at its finest. If I had been here another week, I would have eaten here 3 or 4 times. Make sure to start with guacamole. Yes, you can make it at home and yes, it is worth it. One must get the picante margarita with tequila infused with 7 peppers and the tajin rim. The smoked pork enchiladas with "Christmas" moles are perfection every bite and the octopus tender. If was cow I still might not be satisfied because I wouldn't have enough stomachs.Kid-friendliness: Not really atln atmosphere for children but you can bring them.
Adair Fuller: Great food and atmosphere. The large plates are just that, nice large portions, and the small plates make for great sharing options. We will be back soon!
Eliu and Naomi Gonzalez: Had a date night here a couple weeks ago.Ambiance inside is unique, nicely decorated and cozy.Staff was friendly. Our favorite dishes- The passion fruit ceviche is DELICIOUS! Nice bright acidity and flavor. The house made tostada served with it is the best we’ve ever tried. The mushroom enmoladas with pistachio were SO unique and delicious, the perfect not too rich comfort food that balanced the acidity of the ceviche. My husband ordered the skirt steak tacos and I ordered the grilled octopus- both were delicious but we both wished for the expensive price that the portions were just a little bigger.Drinks were delicious and fresh- even mocktail has high quality ingredients.Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I feel like we’ve been to many of the nice, true foodie dinner spots in StL and this one just felt a little overpriced in comparison. A nice date nonetheless.

Our favorites: cochinita pibil, tamal de rajas, salsa and guac, and cilantro rice. Wait on the corn (esquites) until it's in season. And so much more still to try on the menu!

Lynne Hart: :( 😞 I've been trying to try Nixa for a while, it's super cute inside but at 64 degrees outside I would really prefer outdoor seating options. Food was good, a bit steep on prices but quite filling. 2 small plates and 2 drinks ran us $70 before tip. No problems whatsoever but for the price I could have been more wowed.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More

Cari Morales: We need this restaurant to make it to my hometown of Indianapolis, please! This restaurant is absolutely delicious and the staff are so friendly. We had the pollo guisado as well as the ropa vieja bowl and let me tell you, it was one of the best meals I've had during my trip to St. Louis! We also had jugo de parcha (or maracuyá, depending on where you're from... Passion fruit works, too). Everything took me back to my childhood. La música estuvo brutal. Nos encantó and if we are ever back in town, no doubt, we will definitely make it back.

Ang Robinson: As a Puerto Rican from Florida, when I moved to St. Louis I was sad that I had to let go of the many of Hispanic food joints over there. Fortunately, found this place online and we were more than happy to try it out. It was a pleasant surprise when the food and atmosphere were equally appealing. A+ on the portions. Love that this place doesn’t blast loud music like some other places. The customer service is great, the type of place where you actually want to leave a nice tip. This morning when we came, they had even opened a few minutes early. Which is extremely rare these days, especially after the scamdemic. I can’t give it 5 stars because it’s not authentic hispanic food but it does the job. Thank you guys.
K M: Just call it what it is , culture appropriation at its finest. The food is ok but missing the puertorican/ Cuban / Dominican flavor from back home .

While they were out of pork when we came, we were able to get some other unique sandwiches that were full of flavor. We left satisfied without really wanting or needing anything else, and that’s about all you can ask for. I would definitely come back to try some of their other sandwiches or bowls.

Danger Dest: Updating my 5 star review, 6 years later. Sadly this place has gone down hill. I went for lunch today for the first time in years and sadly it's not the MTJ I raved about before. The environment was sticky and grimey, dirty menus and utensils, the food was lukewarm at best, the queso was cold and gloopy and a completely different recipe from the amazing queso they had here years before. The burrito was barely warm and full of fat. On top of that everything is very bland now. I used to come here all the time with my husband for the $2 taco and tequila hour but I don't think I'll ever come back. The food is mid now at best and there are better places to eat on the loop.Original review ---The Baja fried fish Taco will change ya life 👌😫 Pardon my pun, but I'm hooked. Jaime Odom: I can see the concept of where they're trying to go with the food. But don't call it something everyone expects and it comes out completely different. You can't call something a surf and turf and bring out egg rolls and french fries. The food was decent, but someone forgot the salt. I'm not a big salt person, I'd be the first to say something is too salty, but don't forget the compliments when preparing the food (salt and pepper). There were four adults, including me, sitting at my table. Not one of us agreed we liked the food. We all ordered something different, too. If we ever did try this place again, (I always give restaurants second, maybe third chances), we'd go to a different location. The service was decent, too.
Parker Kelley: No. No. No. We visited this location while visiting St. Louis, after hearing such wonderful reviews about this place. The overall experience was not good, and was very disappointing. I will say this upfront… they were obviously understaffed, and the waitress we had was working very hard and was very kind. However…We were seated immediately and placed our order promptly. We waited a long time before our food was delivered to our table, and when it finally arrived… it was cold. We ordered tacos, three different varieties of meat. It was all cold. The meat in the tacos was ice cold all the way through. We ate the tacos we had already started with, but sent the others back to be taken off of our bill. The waitress was very nice and offered to have them remade, but of course we did not want that. The churros were not much else but greasy fried dough. Hardly any filling and just entirely too greasy. They were at least warm. There were several staff members who were very obviously sick, and were coughing constantly throughout our time inside the restaurant. I observed a lot of uncovered coughing and no hand-washing. The bartender had a horrible cough but continued to make drinks while doing so. This was very disturbing. After researching this restaurant and thinking this was going to be a wonderful lunch, it was nothing else but disappointment. We will not re-visit this restaurant.
Jeremy Brunk: I ordered tacos that had some sort of sauce that contained mayonnaise/miracle whip *they're the same thing* which mayonnaise/miracle whip is my mortal enemy because it's the grossest thing ever. Don't argue. It's just animal fat and eggs. Did i eat these tacos? I ate that those tacos and didn't give af that nasty lard was in there.
Celine Aka-Koffi: Mission Taco never disappoints. The carne asada and baja fried fish tacos are a must try. Cocktails are excellent.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Toppsgilby: Located in the Delmar Loop. Food is good. I love the warm chips and the street corn off the Cobb. It’s always a hit.

Mark Brumleve: Delicious food and the menu has a wide variety to suit pretty much anybody. Overall, not a bad price for how high quality the food is. The empanadas and chicken milanese were especially delicious! Mary Asher: Date Night Restaurant in St. Louis: @asador_maplewood (on Instagram)Located at 7322 Manchester, Maplewood, MO. There is street parking on Manchester or a parking lot behind the building. If you park behind the building, there is a walk-way between businesses that will bring you right to the front door.Make a reservation for Valentine's Day or for a Monday night dinner out of the house. Asador Del Sur features South American dishes with quality ingredients. It was difficult to make a decision because everything sounded amazing! Here's what we ordered:Drinks:-Caipirinha: Brazil's native cocktail with Cachaca, lime juice, and simple-Apasionado: Passionfruit vodka, passionfruit liqueur, lime, triple sec, simple & yuzu bitters. THIS IS THE PERFECT COCKTAIL FOR A PASSIONFRUIT LOVERAppetizers:-Patacones Rellenos: fried green plantains topped with shrimp-Empanadas: we ordered 1 chicken, 1 cheese, and 1 guava & cheese empanada. Each was served fresh out of the fryer with their own dipping sauces.Entrees:-Entrana (Skirt Steak) with chimichurri sauce. We got the grilled pineapple and maduros (sweet plantains) on the side.-Encocado de Mariscos (Seafood in Coconut Milk) with tostones, shrimp, mahi-mahi, mussels, scallops, and baby squid in a peanut butter coconut milk sauce. THIS IS A MUST ORDER DISH! The sheer quantity of fish in the dish was incredible! I kept finding more and more shrimp and I was eating.

The food was wonderful (don't skip the empanadas!) and there was even a kids menu. Excellent variety on the menu, something for everyone!Vegetarian options: Plenty of meatless and pescatarian options available.Kid-friendliness: The kids menu was wonderful with options of chicken or beef milanesa, beef filet, and chicken thighs. It's refreshing to see a restaurant that doesn't just offer the standard kid food. Our kids LOVED the chicken milanesa, but were still picking things off of our plates because everything was excellent!

We were so glad to hear they do a brunch (always on the lookout for a good brunch place) so we decided to check it out. Food was incredible and the staff are some of the nicest, most polite and accommodating people we’ve come across in a long time. Definitely gonna come back for dinner soon.Highly recommend!

John K: Another very nice restaurant in Maplewood. Tried the Sangria and it was delightfully smooth and sweet. For the appetizer I had a beef empanada. Nice and crispy on the outside and mouth watering on the inside. For my entree I ordered the 8oz fillet cooked medium with yucca frita. The steak was cooked nicely and it had a good sear. The meat was not buttery tender as I was hoping. Several bites were a little chewy. This was disappointing. The yucca fritas were enjoyable. Tried the flan for dessert and it was smooth and delicious. I’ll be back but I don’t recommend the fillet.
Chris Dornfeld: It’s always great to find a restaurant that is just excellent in every way 😊- and Asador Del Sur is that! The service was friendly and prompt, the decor is well done and the food was nothing short of excellent - from the empanadas to the flourless chocolate cake. Even the beans and rice was worth the visit. I am looking forward to going back and trying more dishes!!
Theo: If you’re looking for great Latin food in the St Louis area look no further. A great mix of Latin flavor with every dish and drink. The service was spot on and the space is a great place for a date night, celebration or really any night. Give ‘em a try!

Christie Del Re: They made it extremely evident that they don’t care about people dining solo, as was made clear during the entirety of my visit. From the rude host trying to get me to eat at the bar when I made a reservation, to the tucked away corner table in the far back of the restaurant, to the server who shifted focus on larger tables. As someone who travels for work frequently and often dines alone, I expect the same level of service and attention that a larger party would. On top of that, the food came extremely quick, an indication that it is not made fresh, and very over-peppered to the point that it needed to be remade. I did not want the dish anymore, and the server pushed me to have them remake it so I could take it with me (in an attempt to ensure I would still pay for it), needless to say, I gave it to a homeless man after I left. For being one of the most popular Italian restaurants in St. Louis, and not super busy, I would have expected a better experience. Will not be returning, I will choose one of the many other Italian restaurants nearby.

Chesterfield's Lasagna has a sweet flavor thrown in and I liked that but The Hill's Lasagna is denser and probably has more meat

bronwyn miller: The tapas they have are oftentimes fantastic, when they are available. The first time I went I tried several different ones with a friend and they were fantastic, but I've been back a few times since then and each time we've been I've had to make a list of like ten things I'd want to eat because they are usually out of stock of at least half of the menu, or the oven is down, or various other problems. This has happened even when I came right after opening, and also I've had problems with the last couple times I was in food coming out subpar or burnt. Hopefully the quality and availability gets back up to where it used to be, because their squash blossoms are wonderful.Vegetarian options: This place is very meat heavy, but there are some vegetarian options, if they actually have them in stock. Very very few vegan options.Parking: All parking is street parking so depending on the day of the week and the time of day, you may have to park a ways away.

Abbey Theban: I was super bummed about my dining experience here. My husband and I are new parents and had scheduled a much needed night out to try Sanctuaria. Unfortunately the service was not great and neither was the food or drinks. We made reservations to sit outside but were sat inside. Not ideal, but no biggie. It was starting to get chilly anyway. Then, we ordered drinks and a first round of food. My husband got his drink and I never got mine. Our waitress also didn’t come back. After 20 minutes, we flagged down someone else to check on my drink. Then several minutes later they came back saying that my drink couldn’t be made because they were out of some of the ingredients. So they suggested an espresso martini, which also took awhile to make and it was honestly the worst espresso martini I’ve had. It basically just tasted like vodka. Not to mention it was like $15. Then, our next round of food came out burnt. We sent it back and it was our understanding that it would be remade. Turns out they also ran out of ingredients for this dish as well. Although the waitress did say that the cook assumed we just didn’t want it anymore. All this to say, it just felt like our time and attendance was not valued. We went into the evening planning on staying for quite awhile, ordering plenty of food and drinks but after this whole experience, we asked for the check as soon as possible and left. And we STILL spent over $80. Overall, we were super disappointed and will probably not go back.
Trent Kapla: I can honestly say I've never left a restaurant hungry until I came here. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. After we were seated, we waited 20 min for menus...it seemed like the patrons on the patio listening to live music got preferential treatment. We had to ask for a server and then the bartender had to serve us. We ordered 4 tapas and 2 cocktails in 2 hours and felt forced out as the establishment closed at 9. Definitely wanted to order more tapas and dessert but no one would come check on us and see if we wanted to order more. The staff serving the patio definitely saw us with empty water and plates but didn't seem to alert our bartender/server. Could've been a staffing issue, could've been the holiday weekend but definitely a very poor experience. On the bright side, food was pretty good overall.
Kathy Risse: Pictures cant do the place justice you need to go see for yourself. Get a drink stay for the Tapas. YUM the patio is a delight to dine on and must see as well.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Bacon-Wrapped Dates, Cabrales Cigars …More

Susen Nelson: It was Birthday and my kids took me here for brunch. We sat outside. They do have a nice outside area. Upon arrival there was one other table on a Sunday at brunch time this should of been our clue. I will say I server was nice and he suggested items. The beverages were GOOD. The food was Horrible!. My daughter ordered steak and eggs. Steak was raw(ordered med) and eggs was hard potatoes were ice cold, son ordered omelette the first one had hair in it second potaoes was ice cold and my biscuit and chirizo gravy not edible. The fries and queso was good. All this to say spent $100 and did't even eat. No apologizes or try to make things rights and this is when NO one is in there. All 3 of us are in the Hospitality Industry and we take customer services serious and we tip accordingly!
Jeffrey Halverson: Been here for dinner and was happy. Came here for lunch and was disappointed. Most of our food was tasteless. When my wife said that a certain dish needed salt. My jaw dropped. Never in our 14 years together has she ever said that in regards to a meal. The plantain small plate came with a bean dip and some sort of cilantro dip. The bean dip had absolutely no flavor at all. The cilantro dip had an excessive amount of oil. All i could taste was the oil and that was it. The waffle i would say was delicious. The menu looks amazingly delicious but was a let down. A definite not for sure.
Joseph Tehandon: The idea and concept is a great draw, love the theme of the whole place. The staff from my short interaction was good no real complaints. All were helpful and courteous. What was i have to say a disappointment was the price for the quality ratio. Spend close to 15$ per drink that are sizes of shots. The food was okay but could be better. So if looking for new and interesting place please try but just know it will be on the costly side.
Youthika Chauhan: Great food with several vegetarian options. Vegan options are limited, but there are some. Drinks are fantastic. And as someone who has worked at a restaurant, I found their service commendable. Will visit again!Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options are available

Matt Fleshman: Staff was nice which the reason for the 2 stars, because everything else about Sanctuaria was poor. Food has zero flavor and very poor quality. Some items on the small plate menu came out burnt. Told they no longer off the Charcuterie Board because they can’t get the items after Covid…Funny…aged meats and cheeses are available everywhere else. Extremely overpriced, poor food quality, no taste. Disappointed….
Amanda Cooper: Food was not good. Everything was really bland/tasteless. The sliders were the only decent thing we ate. For the price, we were expecting much more. The mushrooms seemed like they were taken out of the can and dumped into a flavorless dressing. The sangria tasted like apple juice.Honestly, it could have been half the price and we still would not come back..My husband and I get very few date nights when the stars align and we’re both free the same night we can get a sitter. I definitely regret picking this place. The atmosphere was super awkward. Jack Johnson’s Imagine cover playing at a just audible level felt way out of place for the theme. Lights too bright, felt more like an empty cafeteria.I feel really bad writing this review, but don’t waste your money. We try to patronize different local businesses and restaurants and this one was a big disappointment. Our server was awesome and so nice! She alone saved it from being an absolute waste.
Simon Huang: Wife variety of small plates available. We enjoyed the devil bites and Beggars purse, the kabobs and wings were just ok.Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Devil Bites …More
chelsea kiser: Love the food, unique and flavorful. Service and drinks are hit or miss. I’ve ordered the same drink multiple times and it tastes different every time. My partner’s drinks were unbalanced and watery. In the summer it’s like a sweat box. Like I said, food pretty legit but it’s a toss up as far as atmosphere every time.
