The food, the taste, the service, and, most of all, the price were unique.I went early, so it wasn't as crowded, and I was served some bread with oil(salt pepper, most time garlic), a typical Italian custom. 👍👍 everything tasted fresh and enough for two people size-wise, which was a plus because I got to take some food home. Renee Greer: Fabulous from first glance to final farewell. Extensive bar. Colossal shrimp cocktail was suburb. Wedge salad fill of tasty gorginzola. Cesar claimed to be best in st louis and was outstanding. I had rack of lamb, probably the best I have tasted in last 10 years! My guys went with bone in rib eye and gorginzola crusted filet. Both said you could cut with fork, that tender. 3 servings of twice baked potatoes...once we saw them we had to order! No room for dessert, although each looked too good to eat. Food topped only by the attentive, but not intrusive wait staff. Can simply not add enough accolades...try Carmines as your special foodie treat!

Hetfield47: We dined here for our anniversary last night. Right off the bat the service was phenomenal. Jessica was on point and very attentive as was the rest of the staff. Greatly appreciate that :). We had the 8oz with a twice baked potato and i dont think i have ever had a potato that good! The steak was one of the best i have ever had as well. It was just an overall great experience and thank you for being apart of our celebration. Will defiantly be back and recommend to others. Keep up the fantastic work! Thanks again.

Travis Harrant: I had dinner tonight with some friends. J, our server, was amazing. He started is off with the recommendation of the steak nachos. AMAZING. He recommended the Porter House for dinner. We all ordered it. He suggested wine that paired very well with the steak. The service he provided for our dinner was beyond our expectations. He is a great kid and needs to know that. He had humor and joked with us the whole time. While doing this, he still was very professional and ensured his other tables had the same experience.Great kid. I hope this establishment can hire more kids like him.

Which was phenomenal!Throughout the course of our meal, J continued to impress us with his professionalism and attention to detail. He checked on us regularly to ensure that we had everything we needed, and he even made some great recommendations for wine pairings.The highlight of the meal, however, was J's genuine warmth, hospitality and sense of humor. He made us feel welcome and comfortable throughout the entire dining experience, and we could tell that he truly cared about making our meal memorable.Overall, I would highly recommend J as a server at Carmines Steakhouse. Nancy Stepanek: We drove into St Louis from Kansas City to celebrate out 35th wedding anniversary at Kreis' Steakhouse and go to Shaw's Garden. We had a fabulous time. Maz and his assistant took such good care of us. The food was wonderful-of course the steaks- but even the vegetable platter was awesome. My husband's water glass was never empty and that in itself if hard to do. Thank you to all, we had a lovely anniversary
Betheny Hall: My husband and I drove 1.5 hours tonight to dine with you. The experience was amazing! We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary and so happy we chose this establishment. Our waiter Frank was amazing and took care of us. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and the main reason we came was the prime rib. It did not disappoint. Frank then brought us a slice of cheesecake to celebrate our occasion. We will definitely make this a tradition to celebrate our many years of happiness! We rarely treat ourselves to meals like this and with drinks and the whole meal, it was still cheaper than what we had budgeted! Thank you for providing us with a whole experience! Joshua Dull: My family has been eating at Kreis' for three generations - and I can confidently say the service, and the food, is first class. I recently went to dinner for my father's birthday, and after telling the host stand about it when booking my reservation, I was disappointed the staff did nothing to celebrate when we dined. A week later, I got a call with them apologizing and offering us to come back so they can make it right. Now THAT is customer service. Regarding the food: their prime rib is some of the finest I've ever had - and they never skimp on the portions! I always make sure to get a twice-baked potato to go with it. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!

I had 6:45pm reservation and was seated shortly after arriving. We were seated down stairs and our server was Dale. Top notch server with top notch help in a young lady named Donte. I order the strip and my GF order the fillet. Both with tasty garlic shrimp on the side! My steak was cooked to perfection with hers being slightly undercooked. I had a baked potato that was slightly overcooked but still good. Was too full for dessert unfortunately. I would most definitely recommend this establishment.

Aaron Obernuefemann: We made a reservation for 5:30 PM. When we arrived, the parking lot looked empty but was beginning to fill up. By the end of our meal, the parking lot was full and we noticed a few cars circling around trying to find a spot. The service and atmosphere was simply top of the line! Jerry (who was one of our servers) was very nice and helpful with any of our questions we had, truly a 5 star service person himself. When ready, we ended up ordering pan seared bacon wrapped scallops fir an appetizer, and an 18 oz ribeye steak with lyonnaise potatoes and Jumbo lump crab cake with the Kreis house twice baked potatoes for dinner (passed on the drink menu but it had a great variety of choices as well). All of our dishes came out quickly and all the food was PHENOMENAL!! The ribeye was absolutely perfect and the jumbo lump crab cake is truly the best you will find on this side of the river (we go regularly to Maryland for their crab cakes which are our favorites). For dessert, we ended up ordering the cheesecake and y'all this was seriously the best cheesecake I've ever had (speaking as a fellow cheesecake fan)!! Overall I was very satisfied considering I knew this place was considered higher priced than others. 100% worth it for sure and would recommend for anyone to go! A nice button down shirt, and other nice clothes should be worn to the restaurant but other than that, we will definitely be returning, especially for special occasions!Parking: We arrived at 5:30 for a reservation which had an empty parking lot. Liz Funk: Excellent service, but terrible steak and food. Everything lacks flavor. The broccoli with lemon literally came out as a half raw crown of broccoli with a wedge of lemon. Just like it it was straight from the supermarket. Potatoes were plain and barely seasoned. Filet mignon was raw not medium rare as ordered and rubbed with so much pepper that it gave it a terrible taste. The brandy sauce was burnt and gave the steak a terrible burnt flavor. My husband’s steak was a little bit better. We decided to leave my steak and eat his. I will say the waiters were very attentive though. The food just wasn’t great.

Jim Thacker: I refuse to believe that people frequent this place on a regular basis. This place is the most over priced, over rated restaurant that I have ever been in. The ambiance was horrible, just a dilapidated old building. I had the braised beef with glazed carrots and potato puree. The braised beef was okay, the carrots consisted of about 1/2 of one carrot diced at different angles. The potato purée is nothing more than watered down mashed potatoes and there might have been two tablespoons of it. The salad that I had was the worst I think I ever had. The desert, the floating island was nothing more than a dollop of whipped cream on a little crème brûlée sauce with some shaved almonds... not even a scoop of ice cream. I’ve had better dinners at Cracker Barrel and Bob Evans. I've eaten at many high end restaurants but I've never been so disappointed. I’ve paid high end prices but was never disappointed like this place. I have no idea how they got so many good reviews. $127.00 for the wife and I with the tip. She had a half chicken. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Sherri Mayne: The Fountain on Locust is such a fun place to visit, but over the last couple of years, they, like the rest of the industry, had trouble staffing for crowds. This past Friday, there was NO sign of that. The waiter and host were fantastic. The waiter was attentive and friendly. Jon LaRue: I have been coming here for over 10 years, whatever magic used to be here is long gone. Seems as if there's 1 or 2 people on tables, 1 person in the kitchen, one host, and the other 3 to 4 employees seem to be doing nothing other than staring at people that need help and chose to do nothing. I waited ~20 mins for a refill of water, 20 mins to order after we sat down, and 20 mins to pay... All while people on staff stared at us. I don't know if it's a case of not my job or what, but 4 years ago I could eat lunch and dessert in 35 mins in and out the door. I have ran past hour on the meter, so dessert ain't happening... But while I wait for someone, anyone to come to the table I can write this review.I applaud how clean the place is it's the cleanest I have seen it, but wowzer operationally whoever is in charge needs to address how things work. I don't think you have to spaghetti diagram the front of the house, but it would show a lot of the operational issues.The food seems to more about looks than it used to be. Most guilty of this is the bruschetta. It looks good on the plate but when it comes to eating it, it doesn't make any sense to serve the bread this way because it's difficult to eat. Again the preparation was clean/meaning not dirty, but... There was nothing of note like there used to be.I won't come back as what used to be The Fountain on Locust feels more like "it used to be The Fountain."

Gregory Beck: We had a large group of 20 and made the reservation early. They made us a shorten menu, the food was good but expensive $55 for a small filet. I made the reservation and agreed to pay for 3 appetizers but my bill came out considerably more than what I was expecting. I thought maybe since I made the reservation and brought all the people into the restaurant that I would get a discount instead I got over charged.

Kimberly Jansen: We had our wedding here in March in the luxe room. It was phenomenal! The outdoor patio was perfect for cocktails and the fireplace kept it nice and cozy. The room was gorgeous and the food was outstanding! Normally, wedding food is just kind of eh but everyone raves about the food and the venue. Honestly, working with the Grbic team was super easy and I had the wedding of my dreams! We by using Grbic also got a discount on our florist (floral play) and she was amazing! That was a perk we never saw coming and I couldn’t have appreciated more. They also have a decor room you get access to which was another cost saver we really loved.

John Gaughan: I very much enjoyed my time working at this venue. As a wedding vendor, I can confidently say that this is one of the most well-run venues in the city and perhaps the greater STL area. The outdoor patio used for ceremonies is brand new and provides plenty of room for guests. It’s a nice area. The indoor reception hall is very open and extremely clean and well kept with gorgeous polished concrete floors and brick surrounding. The meal provided, made in-house, was absolutely delicious and among some of the best wedding cuisine I’ve experienced at any venue. Lastly, I will say that the staff was exceptional. Professional and attentive, it’s quite obvious to me that they are very experienced and dedicated to their work. 10/10 recommend Grbic!

Lejla was an absolute pleasure to work with and it is easy to see that she enjoys her job and is customer focused and very personable. To say that she went above and beyond for us would be an understatement. The staff truly knows how to provide a dining experience that's worth all the praise. Everyone had a great time and they played a big role in that. The food was absolutely incredible. We were able to use the main event space for the ceremony and then moved to the restaurant space for the cocktail hour while the team flipped the main space for the reception. With 4 months to plan a wedding and by some miracle managing to snag a date at this venue, I was stressed to say the least.....but all the wonderful staff was there every step of the way. They went above and beyond from the moment I booked the date up until the last person left the night of the wedding. The Grbic family pours their heart out into every single detail and you're bound to have an event that's talked about for years to come. My father said it was like a scene from a movie..and I couldn't agree more. The expertise in customizing packages, venue lay out, the amazing FOOD and service are just some of the highlights that you will get. Book them. It will be the best decision you make.

Their staff took amazing care of the guests and at the end of the night, rather than cutting us off right at end of the celebration, their team said "go ahead and keep the party going for another couple songs". Cost them 7-8 minutes of breakdown time but gave our couple and their friends/family an extra couple of songs to go crazy and make memories for a lifetime.That kind of hospitality is something every wedding vendor/venue should aim for.
