Tara Van Loenen: BEWARE Don't give this company your credit card information! I purchased Bissinger's chocolate for my family a few days ago and the company used a different person's name and address to process my credit card. They refused to resolve the issue. Then, I asked the Bissinger's why the credit card charge even went through when it had the completely wrong name and address and they man on the phone said "that happens all the time, ha ha". Then, I asked to cancel my order because I was appalled at the incompetence, lack of care for customers, and I no longer trusted this company and he said he wouldn't cancel the order or refund my money. These are unethical business practices. I cannot believe a company that relies primarily online sales doesn't care about their customers' credit data security and privacy. The new ownership has really gone down hill. I will never make another purchase from this company again.

Bigfoot: We attended a wedding there and wow. Nice looking venue BUT they have no idea how to serve food. No salad dressing was provided or offered for the salad. They never served the entree dinner plates to three people at our table until we tracked down a server. By then everyone else at the table had finished. Three potato chip sized potato slices and completely overcooked and ruined broccoli were served to everyone. Entrees were cold. No suprise there. Never offered or served coffee to anyone. Served only a few pieces of cake to each table but had already taken everyones napkins and forks. People were eating with their fingers at a formal affair. EVERY time someone got up to dance, they collected their drinks so back we went to the crowded bar for a replacement. The restrooms had paper all over the floor and no hand towels so people were drying their hands with paper napkins. Sinks were soaking wet. I don't think any staff looked after the restrooms serving over 200 guests at a 7 hour event. Sad part is nobody exposed any of these problems to the hosts in fear of ruining their special day. The experience there led me to believe there is no experienced management in place to run banquets.
Tim Scheibal: This is not handcrafted, artisan chocolate. This is rebranded Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate. There's no reason to pay the premium for this brand unless it's 1/2 price after a holiday.

Reg Morgan: Ordered the chocolate covered raspberries and I am appalled at the horrible sickeningly sweet supposedly dark chocolate and triple the amount of what was on. The ones we got a few years ago. Now I see the company sold out. Don't waste your money!!! These are awful.
C S: Since the company sold out to Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate, the quality has changed.There is no discernible difference between the Bissinger’s Labeled candy and those labeled “Chocolate, Chocolate , Chocolate” which would be great, if they all were Bissinger’s quality, but they are NOT.Now everything has the heavy handed quarter inch thick top and comparatively crude craftsmanship of the purchasing company.A truly sad end of a proud St Louis tradition.Our family is as heartbroken as can be about this lost confectionary!

Cody Cummings: Kakao is a next level artisan chocolate shop! I don’t see how anyone could give them any less than 5 stars. I’ve been in several time for truffles, caramels, wine gummies and my favorite the marshmallow pies. We’ve even done one of the classes, which make for an excellent date night for you romantics out there. I’ve seen some people fuss about the price, but these creations aren’t “just chocolate” they’re made with skill, passion and with an artistic flair that you can’t find on the candy aisle at target. It’s a delicious experience that I reserve for those days I need a pick-me-up or a celebratory snack. Check them out in Maplewood or at the Tower Grove farmers market next time you’re at either location.
Hap Burke: For a boutique chocolatier, the prices are very competitive. Selection is somewhat limited, but the chocolate is loved by many. A great local gift option.

Leah Jean: Great shop! They have an amazing chart going over allergens and local ingredients in all their products which is really helpful. They have the most delicious chocolate and all their dark chocolate is dairy free. They also have a chocolate bark with freeze dried strawberries which are so hard to find! Cute corner for body products and cards too.
Josh Shands: Saying this as kindly as possible and merely wanting to leave my experience. I mean no I’ll will, I just wanted to voice my thoughts. The truffles are certainly nice, which is why I came there. The website said they were $34 for a 16-piece. When I showed up and purchased them at the counter, I’m asked “which box would you like,” so I chose one. When paying, the price seemed off, but I thought that was due to taxes. When leaving and checking the receipt, it was at least $5 off. I called and asked why and was told the box had a cost and wasn’t free. I asked if there were any free boxes to choose and they said there wasn’t. I’m just confused because how do I get 16 truffles home without putting them in a box? Plus, I wasn’t given an option to not use a box. Also, looking at the receipt, it doesn’t differentiate that the box costed; it lumps the truffles and box together. To me, this added fee for the box just felt deceptive. And for $5? Again, I’m not intending to smear or ridicule. I just think those things should’ve been made more clear in the transaction process.
James Wehmeier: Needed vegan Easter chocolate items for my grandson who is allergic to milk and eggs. Limited selection and expensive. But one of only a few places in St. Louis area that carry these products.

It's much better than the prepackaged boxes of candy in the grocery store. Their candy that you can buy by the piece is expensive but worth the money. Jillian Lemons: We were so excited to go here again, after it being closed for a while. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. We sat at the bar and watched the bartender pour every single drink from a pre-mixed container. Yes, they were made there, (at some point) but yuck, so gross. The "signature martini" was thick like a melted milkshake. It tasted like frozen and then melted Hersheys syrup mixed with vodka. The desserts were dry and tasted old and stale. Two drinks, two desserts, and $50 later... so disappointing. We will not be back.

People who are dining here need to have an etiquette of keeping conversations personal and private. There are people talking at 100db. I got alters on my wearables that it’s too loud.Every table speaking over everyone else and the loudness is escalating. I don’t think I will be able to make in back here again!!
Jenn Anderson: The martinis are interesting... like a spiked milkshake. But do NOT order any food. The cookies were burnt, the macarons were so overcooked and stale they crumbled like shortbread! The brie was melty and meh. Not worth the drive.

A great ambiance and nice service but the menu sucks! Update your freaking website!!!!! People really do refer to it! By the way, the Raspberry Lemonade Martini was delicious.
Fz Benbati: Don’t try to present your place as boujie when the quality of the sweets is horrible. I was excited to try to place for being a dessert place but very very disappointed. I ordered the Razzmatazz. Omg super bland, not fresh at all and you can tell it has been there for days. I also ordered a lemon tart, also very flavorless. The quality is very poor. Never coming back.
Shane Yardley: We went in the wrong exit and were hurried out. Won't be back ever. A little bit more decorum would have been nice. We brought our friends down here to enjoy the bar and were excited, but a girl yelled for us to go to another exit instead of welcoming. We would have spent money and tipped well. Sorry you missed us and will miss our business forever. 😢
Nick Wood: Chocolate lovers must try. Instead of setting out free bread, they set out free cookies. The menu has something for everyone. The alcoholic beverages were great as well. Very intimate setting and would be perfect for the end of a date night. Reservations are recommended.

Robert Guadagno: This place was on our "must visit" places since moving into Saint Louis, and it'll be a place we visit again.Their cookies are outstanding, Their cocktails are prepared to perfection, and the appetizers were just right.But the highlight beyond the cocktails is the adult desserts, and in this, they do not disappoint. One of the best banana split desserts I've ever had.Not an inexpensive place, but for special occasions, the one we'll come back to.

The triple chocolate sundae was disappointing, as it is more of a brownie a la mode than a sundae (much more brownie than ice cream) and the vegan brownie is more cake-like/dry than fudgy (vegan probably should have been a 🚩 for me)

Scott Perrier: The best place to get chocolate covered strawberries in St. Louis. They are ripe juicy strawberries covered in a very thick shell of their deliciously creamy milk chocolate; which I like plain, btw. I get them for every special occasion.
Rileigh Kolb: Not what they use to be. Last two times I’ve been they were closed when website says otherwise and the time before they were out of most everything. Really sad.
Johnny Roberts: First time in got an assortment of candies, but the chocolate covered strawberries should be illegal they're so good. Julia greeted us warmly answered all of our questions and made us feel very welcome. I definitely will be returning.

I always had a chocolate bunny from Merbs every Easter when I was growing up and I’m 49 so they have been in business for a very long time. John: The blonde haired lady who works at this store is a real witch who needs to avail herself of a pair of strong reading glasses. Today (4/16/2022) I went to the Concord Village store to purchase one 2 pound box of dark chocolate caramels to give to my Mom on Easter, and I asked if they had a one pound box as a gift for my next door neighbor. They rang them up and I paid the ticket. On my way out to my car, I thought I should check the one pound box for my neighbor, just to make sure what she had sold me was accurate, and I saw that it said dark chocolate caramels-assorted. Two years ago I had purchsed a two pound box of dark chocolate caramels, and the box she sold me was a combination of dark chocolate and light chocolate caramels. Today I IMMEDIATELY walked back into the store and told her she had given me something different that what I asked for. This lady has zero customer service skills, and a hard attitude to accompany. To her, it didn't matter that she had given me the wrong product. She pointed to a sign on the wall which stated "All Sales Are Final", and said I couldn't return it. I accidently let go of an eff-bomb, and she told me that now that I had used bad language, I had to leave. I told her I was leaving and would never be back. This lady is highly toxic.

If you're in the mood for something else, they have a variety of candies as well. Parking is street parking, but there was space by the park. The shop is small but very cute and well kept.
