trisha1976: Got here at 745am on a Friday. Now at 1030am they say I'm next. 3+ hours is too long to wait for a 10 min inspection.
Levonda Shockley: Me and my son took his car there for a inspection we waited for over a hour and my son had to pay for the inspection first the mechanic that did the inspection failed the car and told my son that his third brake light did not work but he did work and he had to pay upfront for the inspection if a customer car does not pass at all the company should give the customer there money back if it does not pass that is a RIP OFF to me if you know a person car will not pass you should get a FULL REFUND people work to hard for there money just to give it away like that I rate the company a NEGETIVE 1

James Chestnut: Great if you dont want anyone to look closely at your vehicle. Me I would prefer to know if my life was in danger or anyone else's. If they happen to catch a light bulb or something small they want to reinspect when they feel like it. Not when you show up. Which is funny because they do not make appointments.Edit: 4/5/19 Don't ask me why I went back in but I did. And I was pleasantly surprised. I have bumped these guys up from 1 star to 3. The place doesn't look like or have the demeanor of a junkyard anymore.Edit #2: 3/23/21 After today's experience these guys have been bumped up from 3 to 4 star's. I had gone in a couple of days ago. They looked very busy. Person at the counter explained that they were very busy and could be sometime after lunch before they could get to me. Understandable. I left and came back a few days later after work. They still had a lot of traffic in and out of the garage. I think one of them recognized me from coming in a couple of days before. He said sit tight and we'll get you in. I appreciate the communication instead of having me sit there all day. These guy's seem trustworthy, happy and helpful. The place is still looking good for a garage. This is a major turnaround from several years ago. I would encourage you to visit this place for your next State inspection.
Raven Butler: There is a caveat to my rating. This is a great place to get your inspection done. It’s no nonsense, cash only. Take more cash then you need for the inspection in case they find something. They don’t over charge or make stuff up, but they run a solid inspection and occasionally find things that need tuned up before you’ll pass. Having extra cash saves you the trip to the atm if that happens. It can be an incredibly long wait because they are one of the best places in the area to go, so plan accordingly and bring something to read or do.

Steven McAllister: Needed an inspection for an out-of-state vehicle purchase. There were a lot of people waiting and limited seating. Cash only ($12). They were quick to take care of me (since it doesn’t require a full inspection) and just need a VIN/odometer read. Waited maybe 15 minutes total, even with a long line of people. Other places/dealers were quoting me next week or 2-3 weeks from now for an appointment. Just come here and get it done!
Michael Shelton: This is where I go for car inspection every year. I have been coming here for years. Even when they are swamped I wait because the wait is not long on a busy day and there is no wait on a slack day.They grade fair, if it doesn't pass it needs to be replaced so check your wiperblades before you go.They only take cash so bring $12.00 cash with you. (plus any tip you may decide to leave)They do not reinspect after 4:pm.

wes kemple: Called them up and told them my car was running rough and making a ticking sound. The guy on the phone asked if my check engine light was on. It was. Dropped it off in the morning. I called and told them if the problem was $500 or under then to go ahead and fix it. No need to call and confirm. Well, the cost was $400 and my car is still running rough and is still making a ticking sound. I paid over the phone when he called amd said it was done. They did replace the purge valve and that did fix the engine light. I was more worried about it running rough and breaking down. It sounded like a lifter to me. He said they would have to look at it and put a stethoscope on the valve covers to find out where it was. I thought I just took it to you guys due to running rough and making a ticking sound. They did have a quick turnaround and the people i spoke with were nice. Thats why they get 2 starsService:General repairs maintenance

Summers: Had a bad experience, they took my vehicle in the morning and didn't even look at it until 4:30 in the day. After finally looking at it, they wanted to charge me obscene prices for a muffler replacement. After taking it to a muffler shop nearby, the price was less than half of what they wanted to charge me. Even though they did no work and just looked at my car, I still was charged 60 dollars for wasting my time. Will not be going back to them and do not recommend them.Service:Exhaust

Charged $150 to remove the current bad battery and install the brand new battery. I questioned this and was told charged for difficultly of removing &/or installing.3 yr Battery purchased from AAA Dec. 2016 took 10-15 min. tops to remove bad & replace w/good battery, which lasted the term +1 month. I went there at 904 and I called because the office is closed due to covid...understandable...but the old man that answered the phone said he wouldn't get to my car until 140pm! He said it didn't matter i had an appointment then proceeded to hang up in my face when I was explaining how I couldn't drop off my only vehicle and walk home 5 miles! I called back and he said again it didn't matter about me setting an appointment he had other things to do. It's Bread!: EDIT: They hired a new guy who isn't as friendly. Recommended a service that didn't fix my issue, then he told me I needed to have it rediagnosed for another fee. Felt like I was back dealing with another shady mechanic. Found a different mechanic.Excellent service, decent prices, extremely friendly staff. The employees were very diligent in keeping me informed throughout the process of working on my car. They broke everything down and explained everything in ways that made me feel confident both in their abilities as mechanics and in their integrity as decent people. I never felt I was getting ripped off and I always felt my car was in good hands. I think I can truthfully say that I found MY mechanic! Thanks, guys!!

hobbs Backhus: A bit pricey, I'm sure you could stay in buisness and afford to lower prices for the rest of us normal blue collar folk. 1080$ is alot for a belt tensioner, belt, and a refrigerant charge and a knob fix. Had to edit and drop to 1 star because most people cannot afford more than 1000$ nowdays in 2023 in Amerika. I sure can't, I had to go without food today. And this was all to fix a small few things on a work van that I use to make the money I paid you. I basically begged you to work with me in price and 50$ was all you were willing to do? 50$ doesn't mean anything when you took all the money in my bank account.

I spent over $1,500 only to have the mechanic tell me afterwards that all the work we did may not have solved the issue I brought it in for!3 weeks later, one of the parts he did replace turned out to be the wrong size! I found this out after having a separate mechanic review and suggest I return to Perkins as they installed incorrectly.When I brought it back to be fixed, he charged me another $300 and claimed it wasn't his fault.STAY AWAY FROM PERKINS, YOU WILL NOT BE PLEASED WITH THE SERVICE, QUALITY or VALUE of THEIR "WORK".Service:General repairs maintenance

Sarah Garcia: I have been going to Perkins and recommending them for many years so it pains me to say that I will NEVER go back. My husbands work van was dying on the road so we took it in... they said it needed a tune up so we got the tune up. When we pick it up we discover that they have also have replaced the muffler without telling us. I should note at this point that just a couple months before they had patched the muffler telling us that it didn't need replacing...Got it home look under the hood to discover a missing hose. Take it back to have hose put back in.The next day it dies while my husband is out working. He looks in the new muffler only to discover that it is dry. So we take it back. We were pretty upset so now they say it needs a new smog filter and they will replace it free of charge. We get it back it dies again. Now it is back in the shop and they say it needs computer work. We wait literally weeks, all the while they keep saying it will be ready in a couple days, a couple more days etc. We ask repeatedly to speak to the owner who never returns our calls. We finally got him on the phone today and he tells us something totally different it wrong with it. We say we are going to come get it and take it to another place and he says *rudely * that we owe him for the "repair" that they told us would be no cost. We arrive literally minutes later and he is gone. Surprise, surprise... so basically they had our vehicle for two of the last three months, we are out a whole lot of money, and we still have a van that dies while driving down the road. The only redeeming factor in this story is the woman who mans the front desk is very sweet. Beware of Perkins. The owner is rude and shady.

In fact, they did what they could to try to save me money. AND fit me in right away when I said I had to have my car later that day — even though they were very busy with other cars. Austin Barnes: I was told that if I bought a new tire from Perkins, they would rotate my tires for free. After receiving a couple rotations for free, they became upset that I was getting rotations for free and told me they would no longer honor the promotion because I only bought one tire from them. I tried to calmly talk about the situation with them, but they were upset about other matters on the phone and when they checked me out and saw that I was getting a free tire rotation, it made them even more upset. They responded unprofessional and rude to me and I wasn't doing anything other than getting the promotions that they had offered. He looked at me and said, "I'll rotate one of your tires for free". I was due to meet my students for balance screenings, and really needed fast service. I drove around the corner to Brookside Auto Rx and explained my situation. Tamara got me in right away and even asked one of the mechanics to move a car off the lift so I could be taken care of immediately. The technician found a nail in my tire, repaired it, took it for a quick drive, and I was on my way within 30 minutes!! The cost was more than reasonable, and I can't thank them enough for saving my day!_____________________________Brookside Auto Rx is the epitome of a great little shop around the corner! My "low tire pressure" indicator light went on, and I didn't feel comfortable driving all the way to the dealership to have it taken care of. I called Brookside Auto Rx, and they were able to get me in the next morning. I live close enough that I could leave the car there and walk home, and they had my car ready to go by mid-afternoon. Caitlin Peters: Small shop, big integrity. Went in for basic inspection and electrical system check, dreading MO’s brake and windshield standards a I recently moved from another state. I have an old F-150 that many other shops have written a laundry list of “necessary” improvements that cost more than the value of the truck itself. They could have easily done the same, but they treated me with kindness and fairness, all I needed was a new battery. If you’re looking for good quality and a fair shake, go here.

Nathan Wood: Called with a very specific, unique issue, and was referred to another mechanic. While I have not used them, it is a pretty honest mechanic who will tell you "we are probably not the best to help you with that problem". Honesty, and communication, to me in a mechanic is everything. I will be doing business with them in the future.
Ammon Mahurin: My partner took her Prius in to have protection installed over her catalytic converter. On the way home from picking it up, it was rattling and grinding. After having them look at it again they said someone must have already tried to get the rivets off. How? It made the sound immediately after getting it from this shop.Left it there again to have bigger rivets put on and then they had to wait several days for new rivets so we picked up the car again. When new rivets arrived, we dropped it off AGAIN, and the car STILL has a rattle and vibration and grinding sounds.If you can’t do this job, return her money so she can go to someone more capable.If you can, then we’ll drop it off a 4th time so you can do it right and you’d need to give her a loaner or rental to use while you do it.Highly disappointing experience. Should’ve went to see Tim London instead.

I contacted my other "go to" auto repair shop but they couldn't get me in for a week! So, after searching the area and looking over reviews, I found Brookside Auto Rx and I can honestly say I couldn't be happier with my decision!I never actually spoke with anyone in person but on the phone and over text, Tamara was very kind and helpful. They keep you updated via text and are very flexible with your schedule in terms of drop off and picking up your vehicle. They were able to diagnose and fix my vehicle the same day, which was AMAZING because we all know how much of an inconvenience it can be to be without your vehicle for any period of time.I may have just found my new "go to" auto repair shop!

daniel krulewich: Almost no one gets 5 stars from me. These guys are very good. I called Monday afternoon for appointment to look over my fuel system suspecting the pump to be out. Was told to drop off that same day. By evening that same day confirmed that fuel pump was the problem and offered fair quote. Originally expected to pick up Tuesday morning. Communication could have been a little better. End up picking up Wednesday afternoon, and bill was exactly as promised. I will definitely use them again.
