Varsity Tutors - Kansas City: what do users think?
Klarissa J Mearite: Final Update: I have settled on three stars. I was able to pass my exam, but will not be using Varsity again. The effort to get the services I paid for was just not worth it.UPDATE: I was originally at two stars, but I received a call from one of the account managers (Brittany) within an hour of posting this and wow what great service. She listened to my concerns and we were able to come to an agreement on the hours that were canceled. Once I am done with my test in June I will for sure be trying them out for a subject of interest. At this point I would recommend them, but as a tip the moment something seems to not be working reach out to your account manager. They can come up with creative solution and make sure to check in more often._________________________________________I would not recommend Varsity Tutors for professional exams, specific actuarial.Pro:Wide variety of teaching subjectsPayment Plans offeredHours roll over to other subjectsSeems to have a wide list of tutorsCustomer service at the call center is great. Never too long a waitCon:Tutors are independent contractors. Think of the times you order an Uber and you can't find a rideVery expensiveYour tutor does not need to have experience tutorThe 30day money back is not as useful as it seemsI ordered 36 hours of tutoring in March 2022 for a June 2022 testing, total $3,600. These hours had a pass guarantee and 30-day money back guarantee. I was a little worried about getting in full 36 hours in between those dates and my account manager said it would be no problem with 2 hours per week. One week after purchases I was match with a tutor and we had two sessions and I realize it was not a fit. This pushed me to 3 weeks from the purchase date. Varsity Tutors matched me with a new tutor a week later which pushed me outside the 30 days for a refund. The new tutor is amazing, but the tutor has canceled sessions, a total of four so far have been canceled. I am a month out from my test with 24 tutoring hours left. Varsity Tutor's response 'You are outside the 30-day window so you can save them for a different subject or if you don't pass, we will refund you the full amount even though you didn't use all the hours." I completely understand the policy and am sure this is the script that has to be followed, but it seems odd that if their tutor canceled, I could not at least get a refund for the canceled sessions.I do believe the positive reviews are absolutely true for more general exams/subjects Varsity Tutor would be great since there is probably a larger tutor pool and you would likely need more ad hoc sessions, but not for true professional designation exams
Megan Rhode: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ValueOur kids have participated in several Varsity Tutor learning sessions/classes - they are well put together and user-friendly. The content is age-appropriate, as advertised! We have especially enjoyed the classes with Coyote Peterson.
Karuna Sharma: Positive:Professionalismwe have had such a good exprience with all the tutors and Star courses.
michaela schauer: love the content and variety of subjects my kids learn
Emilie Benschoter: I signed my 7 year old son up to attended a class on Death Defying animals and he was enthralled! After a year of distance learning it was wonderful to see him so full of joy to attend ‘class’. He asked if I could sign him up for all the classes! So thankful for this fun learning experience that resparked his natural love of learning. Thank you Varsity Tutors!
Mariano, David Aljan: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
Henry Feng: I have worked here for over five years and suddenly got dropped without any notice. They used to have a fantastic team with excellent communication; now, they are just another money-making machine. I referred a lot of tutors and students to the website, but now it's just sad. If a company treats tutors like they are nothing, then the students are probably paying a lot for nothing too. Tutors are wonderful, but the company itself is sketchy and unethical.
Christina Alvarado: I took the Beginner's Spanish 244 course with Maria Rubin and was very pleased. Maria was very personable and patient. If I were to take another course in the future, I would take a course with her again.
Daniel Huhn: This previous semester I hired a tutor for my college analytical statistics (500 level) class which I was struggling with around mid-semester. The person I met with had a solid grasp of the mathematics as well as many easy tips on how to remember what formulas to use for which occasions. Overall a very positive experience as he helped me understand some things I had been doing incorrectly over the entire semester and not even noticed.
Cheryl Morton: I found a tutor for my "Econometrics" class which is a very difficult class. Great instructor and a great company to work with. There were a few technological issues but overall great experience.
Delaney Mose: I met with more than one tutor to help me through Microbiology. One was online and the other was an in person tutor. They were both very helpful in assisting me with the class. I would use varsity again in a heartbeat. I would also highly recommend them to anyone needing a tutor.
Claudia Heddings: Our tutoring experience prior to Varsity was frustrating. Varsity has made it easy to pair up our student with a tutors who are passionate about what they do. They have also made it convenient by allowing for sessions in-home or at other convenient locations.
Molly Weaver: Varsity Tutors have paired my 10 yr old with an amazing tutor to continue his desire to learn the Chinese language. He looks forward to his time with Ivy each week. Although it is not "traditional tutoring" as he is currently not taking classes in Mandarin outside of the tutoring, Ivy has managed to create learning that keeps his interest and keeps him learning.
Shannon Pendleton: The tutor worked well with my son. I can see improvement in his reading.
Libby Grube: They matched me with a great tutor who really helped me improve my LSAT. I'm very glad I chose to work with them instead of taking a class.
Jessica Stewart: Varsity Tutors has such a polite and productive staff! As a student, you will be able to find exactly the fit you need and as a tutor, Varsity Tutors is an excellent company to work for!
Nick: I have been working as a tutor for Varsity the past two months. It has always been easy for me to find some clients and my weekly payments always arrive on time via direct deposit. The online platform has several tools that are useful during sessions including easy access to the practice questions and interactive whiteboards. The main issue I have had is poor connections during online sessions. It is frustrating when there are problems having good audio, though this would be a potential problem for anything based on WiFi.
Heidi Rettele: I have been Varsity Tutors for almost 2 months now and I love this company. They respond in a timely manner to all questions and have matched me with students that I am truly qualified to help. I love their resources and customer service for both tutors and students. They are truly a great company.
James Chapman: I'm one of the tutors for Varsity Tutors and it has been a fantastic experience working with high school and college students who are committed to improving themselves through a one-on-one experience. Every student has different needs and I work really hard to ensure that they are getting what they need during each and every session. Incredible students, incredible system, and I like to think incredible tutors working hard to help others attain their learning goals.
Sara Prusik: Varsity Tutors helped me pass a math class I waited till my senior year of college to take. With out them I would have really struggled. Instead, Varsity Tutors set me up with a fabulous tutor who gave me the tools I needed not only to pass, but to get an A! The staff helps tailor the experience to you by finding tutors that best fit your personality and needs. I highly recommend using them for finding tutors in the Kansas City Area. I guarantee you wont find anything better!
Chris Rios: Varsity Tutors is a great company. They provide reliable and well-educated tutors to students of all ages. Their tutors care about the success of their students and modify their teaching philosophy and curriculum accordingly. For any parent considering a tutor for their child, look no further. Varsity Tutors is company to trust when thinking about the future of your children.

Kansas City Academy: what do users think?
Sydney Bernstein: I attended Kansas City academy from 2012-2014 and was a staff member during the 2021-2022 school year. My time as a student at KCA was transformative. After a tragic death of my parent in 2010 I was struggling academically and socially in public school. I would frequently skip school due to anxiety and depression. As a sophmore I knew I would not be able to graduate at the current high school I was attending and began to look for alternative options. A family friend who was a staff member at KCA recommended I come visit the school. From the moment I stepped foot in the door I knew I wanted to join KCA’s community. As a student I was given the opportunity and freedom to explore myself in a safe space where it was okay to be yourself and make mistakes. I was offered a lot of leadership opportunities. I wanted to come to school everyday. The faculty and staff were so welcoming and encouraging. For the first time in my life I felt seen, heard, and accepted by KCA’s community. I was so sad to graduate in 2014 but I have remained a part of the community one way or another 9 years later. I recommend this school for any student or parent looking for a academic environment that is creative and accommodating.
Sage WolfeZogg: I graduated from KCA in 2015. They teach kids to be involved in their education, to explore their own interests, to endlessly ask why. We learned to think of people besides ourselves, to break problems down into manageable amounts. I was one of the students (selected by the students) who decided on community services requirements. There were students, facility, and community members involved. Even as a 15 year old I felt heard, supported, and respected.
Lauren D: Great school. Small classes. Teachers were involved with students. Had their own garden and cooking classes. Lot of fun engaging projects especially art.
mike cowger: Kansas City Academy, and the staff that makes it what it is, has been a tremendous source of support, kindness, and growth for our son, who has just completed his first school year there. In what could very well have been an incredibly difficult time the staff at KC Academy has created a wonderfully welcoming and inclusive environment where our son has (and is still!) learning how to thrive and take his own narrative with both hands and make it his own. I absolutely recommend KCA for any kiddo and family who are looking for a place to really belong.
Margaret Chaffee: Ay KCA my child feels valued and seen for all her gifts and talents. So thankful for the compassion and creativity of the staff and students.
Suzanne Raney: We love this school and its creative, kind and compassionate teachers and staff.
Amy Parker: This has been a life-altering, amazing school for my daughter. For a kid who didn't fit in with the more traditional public school setting, KCA was just the place where she could be herself. The teachers and staff are informal, approachable, VERY supportive, and maintain a quality, meaningful education. I would never have thought a school like this existed and will be forever grateful that it does. This school goes above and beyond to not only support each unique kid but help them become the best versions of themselves they can be. I truly hope KCA will always be there for students like my daughter. I am so, so glad we took a chance on KCA.-The parent of a 2022 grad
DeAnna Skedel: If there ever was a community that puts the social and emotional development of their students first, this is it.
sloane swift: This school is bad, the kids here are bad. The teachers teach horribly i didn't learn anything. The students pushed me to attempting suicide, several times. The teachers did not investigate and it was horrible.
Samsung Chromebook #17: Worst school i've ever gone too, the staff allowed other students to bully me due to my family not being able to afford the tuition. They refused us for financial aid, and allowed rumors and lies about me spread throughout the school. I got sent death threats, and became very depressed during this time. It was horrid. Please don't send your child to this school.
Avont'e foster: The Best Experience!!
Cathy Metcalf: KCA has been extremely proactive in providing our children with a top-notch experience under the current COVID-19 conditions. The teachers spent the summer learning new digital platforms to assist with their online lessons. The school created a balanced schedule for the students to be digitally engaged with their classmates and teachers daily. KCA is consistently evaluating conditions to determine when students can return to in-person classes. The online schedule was designed to seamlessly flow with the in-person schedule once students can return to campus. We have the utmost confidence in the leadership and faculty at KCA and we know that our children are receiving the best education possible to prepare them for their futures!
Annette Wallace: Love this school! My child struggled last year as a Freshman. This year they transferred to KCA! So far the improvement has been phenomenal! So grateful for the wonderful, involved staff!
Amber DeAngelo: The best, creative, accepting, supportive school in town!
AUTO MART USA: GOOD ACADMY
Cooper Enochs: Gotta say gotta say it is relatively EPIC???? YES EPIC!!!!! Ooguns boogus
Kristine Ennis: KCA is such a Fabulous learning environment . Their curriculum and staff engage the students and the safe and welcoming environment allows for a superior education to develop. I highly recommend this wonderful, community based, small school. We had multiple years at Catholic schools and by far KCA is the best!!! We only wish we had discovered it sooner.
Aisling Crowe: KC Academy has helped my daughter be more confident. She is encouraged to think for herself here. The teachers at KC Academy are supportive and inspiring. So happy we found this unique school.
Jeff Weis: KCA has been a wonderful fit for my son since sixth grade.
Brennan G: I am a KCA graduate of 2001. This school was a great influence on how to manage my life responsibly. The teachers were the best. I loved my experience here. After graduating I moved to Los Angeles, finished college and I'm now an television editor for NBC Universal. Thanks KCA.

Kansas City Kansas Community College Technical Education Center: what do users think?
Richie Alamillo: I spent two years taking pre-requites for the program of physical threapy. I went for an interview the day they were deciding who would be getting accepted into the program and I can tell you that I am very disapointed because the majority of the people there werent even students at KCKCC but other people with more experience in the field who aren't even attending this college. DO NOT ENROLL IN THE PTA PROGRAM. you are likely to get rejected.
Kenny Laboy: I gaduated in HVAC last year.
Lindsay Flagler: Tech is amazing. Love the welding program. Amazing teachers
Travis Marshall: I've had several classes here no issues and staff has always been friendly.
Pamela Stewart: Wonderful
Justin Porter: Terrible experience! Went for 3-5 years finished my tech program, been over a year and talked to multiple people and still never received my certificates! Still to this day trying to get my certificates. All the teachers were fantastic but what’s the point of taking classes if you can’t receive your certificates and go Into the area you went to school for!
Gerald Ellis: Nikki cut my hair just as I requested. She did an excellent job. He was professional and had a great attitude. I wish her the best in her future endeavors! ☀☀☀☀☀
John Wayne: Great class, Taught by same guy that trains the coaches everyone else uses
JaNee Parker: Cosmetology program didn't learn much. Went through 4 different teacher in 2 semester because they are unprofessional an need better management and listening skills. Made a complaint as well as filed grievance and they turned around and kicked me out for asking for help to get to the bottom of things. 2 weeks before I was due to graduate. Only had 6 credits left, out 1500 hrs only had 280 left like they are so wrong and ran so wrong it's sad.
M P: No one ever answers the phone so we've been trying to make an appointment for 2 weeks and have called them at least 20 times and no one answers ever. Please hire someone to answer yout phone and make appointments.
Nelson Chavez: Really don't learn much in the transmission class
Al Pyu: The teacher doesn't really pay attention to everyone
Richard Norman: The Kansas City Kansas Community College is a great place to go after high school. They have a really nice Wellness and Fitness Center, where you can go and work out at.

Kansas City Christian School: what do users think?
Ben Robinson: Overall, this school is a fantastic environment and safe place where your children can feel free to express themselves and their creative passions. Unfortunately, as this is a small school, there are some limits to athletic programs, but that does not mean that the school is un-athletic. the soccer and baseball programs are both excellent and provide your child with enough fitness training to be able to climb Mt. Everest. The school has incredible theater and music programs as well. Brian Miller is both an experienced actor and director, and he makes incredible shows every fall and spring. Trent Tinker is the band director, and he never fails to entertain with his fantastic performances and contagious enthusiasm. As stated above, I would recommend this school to any one.
Tereasa Gilmore: Quality education with a Biblical worldview.
Olivia Price: This school has been an amazing place to go, and I'll miss it when I leave!! The teachers are incredible and the community is welcoming and full of love!!!!!!!!!!
Austin & Rachel De Boer: I am a teacher at KCC and I love my job!
Megan Hutcheson: This school is a great pick if you want your student to grow up within close relations with his peers and teachers because the atmosphere is such a friendly and homelike place. Because of the size of the school however, you shouldn't be surprised at the lack of options, not saying that the classes are bad, but the size of the school restricts the school from greatly expanding their extra-curricular activities and classes. Otherwise the school is an excellent private education for your student to experience a conservative, traditional, and non-denominational learning experience with other Christian Teachers and Peers.
Nicholas Beach: This place is awesome yo!
Doug Goertzen: My son is in 1st grade and we love the school. Good teachers, high standards and expectations...but with teachers that love the kids.
