Student of the Word of God: Kept hearing about this great place near the City market, so my wife and I decided to go. #1, we were sat in the corner near some dead plants so maybe that’s what caused the flies and gnats to invade our space. #2, our server wasn’t too pleasant. #3, a gnat flew into my food, when I tried to get my server’s attention, she walked right past me. D B: Our group had a fun brunch experience, and I look forward to going back. We started with the cinnamon roll which has bacon pieces on top; it was good but the roll was a bit dry. The biscuits and gravy were great, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the mimosa tower, which was pretty good. Lastly, the service was excellent and our meals came out on a reasonable amount of time.

Diane McKinney: One of our favorite Sunday Brunch spots! We like to sit outside and this summer they have added a shade cover so it's more comfortable out there. All of the food we've had has been amazing. There is a regular Sunday brunch menu as well as a special menu specific to that day. I was dissapointed that they had run out of the ingredients to make the Mimosa special so I was forced to drink a regular one :(

It was very large. Beware lol. It’s very sweet but the frosting is amazing. Got Lord kyler for the main meal. It was pretty good. I was imagining normal sausage, not pork sausage lol which would’ve made it better I think haha but flavoring was great. 👍Huge portion. And it came with super cute tiny fries 🍟 Lolol. Daniel Nagati: You might be wondering why the average reviews of this restaurant are so high after you eat here. It's because this used to be an excellent restaurant before new management took over. Now the food is bland, the menu is stale and overpriced, and the service is terrible. If you were curious why a restaurant would only be open 2 days a week, it's because no one ever comes here. J. Barrett: UPDATED REVIEW, May 2023: HARD PASS. Where to start. This place has gone downhill and gone downhill fast! I don't know if it's lack of good help, or a combination of that + really poor quality food. I ate here three times, under duress, in a 48-hour period. Extremely slow service, poor attention to detail, and hit or miss food every single time! For a restaurant supposedly of this caliber, I had nothing more than a disappointing experience all three occasions. Four of us ordered the shrimp tacos, which I cannot tell you just how terrible they were with kids being able to read this review. They need a complete overhaul of the recipe and they need to toss that disgusting microwaved shrimp in the garbage! Everyone experienced hit or miss dishes, rather that be appetizers or actual main courses or specials. Some of them were tasty, others reflected overcooked swordfish and halibut. You cannot overcook these delicacies and expect your side dishes, which also need improvement, to make up for it. I don't know what's going on, and I especially don't know how they expect to regain trust from patrons, but something must change and must change now for this downtown Kansas City staple! Did I mention they ran out of lobster? Really?2021 review (the good ole days): Top notch location, with amazing food and really great service. The whipped goat cheese appetizer was a wonderful blend of the sweetness of honey with the tart earthiness of the cheese. The deviled eggs were enormous, and the filling was creamy and not overly mustardy as some deviled eggs can be. The wedge salad was fine, though somewhat quotidian and lacked sufficient dressing. There is a reason that at almost every single table in the restaurant someone ordered the fried chicken. If you grew up eating delicious fried chicken made by someone who knew how to make delicious fried chicken, you will not be disappointed. This is among the best friend chicken I've had in Kansas City. Instead of dessert, I opted for the This Is Bananas cocktail, which is sublime. The staff was wonderful: attentive without being overbearing and extremely knowledgeable about the menu.

Avery Epstein: The food was fantastic. We did not know what to expect but everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the pork/pork belly, and the meat was cooked perfectly. My stepmother doesn't really eat red meat, but she said if she lived in KC, she would come back every month just to eat the Friday special (she is from Chicago). Royce Shields: Upon arrival the place was really nice. Once seated we placed our orders. We waited about 45 mins before getting the two appetizers that were ordered. After about another 20 mins or so the waitress approached the table and informed us that she placed the order incorrectly(Unfortunately she didn’t provide us a name so can’t exactly who she was) but when asked about how long it would be before the food would come, she stated “well you ordered 3 steaks, rolled her eyes and walked off”(mind you all the steaks were 6oz) she also brought me a child’s orange juice and when she returned for refills I asked for more juice and she stated “well they said they ran out of juice”, as if that’s my fault. She could have said this and I could have ordered something else! We then we asked for a manager and asked the same about time frame on receiving food, because now we’ve waited over an hour, and with no response. He then stated “you did order steaks and your orders all needed extra accommodations, but not going to go back and forth with you we are working on getting it out to you, it’s only been placed 20 mins ago and walked off”…I am a manager myself and never would treat guest in this manner we then as a party of 9 decided to leave. It was very clear that other tables were a priority over others, but even as nice as the place displayed its self to be, we will not return to this location. There were guest that arrived after us and who spoke to us outside of the restaurant as they waited for the rest of their party, they got in received food and was leaving within the time of us asking about receiving our order. Ruined the birthday girls day for sure, currently looking for another place to eat. Worst visit ever!!!!
Lovey Carvin: My family of (9) went here for brunch and celebrating a birthday, while we arrived @ 1130 for our reservation was promptly seated at 1139(no problem) however once seated the sever(which I don’t recall her name) took almost 20mins to greet us! Took our drink orders took a while returning with drinks, promptly after we placed our food order roughly 12:15, waited patiently server returned to our table @ 12:40 stating it was a mishaps between her putting in the order & the kitchen staff! Never apologized for the mess up! I then approached the manager adv him of the issue.He begin to tell me we ordered steaks and etc, mindful of that however the fact the serve & manager both responded w/attitude’s & unprofessional mannerUNACCEPTABLE, clear to see In the environment was prioritized by color. A family bigger then our party arrived and was seated same time as our party & was leaving and served when we decided to leave the establishment.Sadden first time here and will never return

Hannah Taylor: We met some family here for brunch a few weeks back and it was really disappointing. I had been looking forward to it for a very long time and heard great things. Our service was okay and the place was beautiful but there was long periods in between being checked on and the food was extremely underwhelming. I got the diablo and it was okay but wasn't really spicy nor had a lot of flavor and my boyfriend's french toast looked unappetizing. Definitely not worth the $70+ I spent on the two of us... Maybe we should have come for dinner instead.

Julianne Rabal: This was my first visit to any Capital Grille location. I was celebrating a college graduation with high hopes of having a great experience with my family. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The food was decent, however our server was extremely rude and had an awful attitude the entire evening really spoiling our night. Brett would take our plates and drinks without asking if we were not finished - even when there were still a large sip left. He did not really acknowledge our special occasion.
