Anita Todd: Our first time eating at Piropos. Our server Jill was excellent. We had the crab bisque which was amazing. My husband had the ribeye. Perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the medallions and shrimp. The sauces were so delicious. They gave us a free sample of the bread and dipping sauces which we ate during and after dinner. Overall excellent meal and service and we would highly recommend. Btw. The sangria was excellent too!!

W Gregor: I came here with some friends to celebrate my birthday. First time at this restaurant, and they did not disappoint. We ordered appetizers and drinks to start, and they came out quickly. The bread basket comes with three different spreads to try out. The appetizers of bacon wrapped shrimp and chicken empanadas were absolutely delicious.I ordered the beef medallions with tiger shrimp. It was phenomenal. Excellent flavor, and the sauce for the medallions was exquisite. I highly recommend ordering the chicken empanadas to start and go from there. They gave me a complimentary cheesecake slice for my birthday. 10/10 for the food, service, and atmosphere.

I initially came wanting to try the steak but ended up with the fish of the day as my entree along with scallops and jumbo tiger shrimp, asparagus, and lobster risotto. Student of the Word of God: Kept hearing about this great place near the City market, so my wife and I decided to go. #1, we were sat in the corner near some dead plants so maybe that’s what caused the flies and gnats to invade our space. #2, our server wasn’t too pleasant. #3, a gnat flew into my food, when I tried to get my server’s attention, she walked right past me. D B: Our group had a fun brunch experience, and I look forward to going back. We started with the cinnamon roll which has bacon pieces on top; it was good but the roll was a bit dry. The biscuits and gravy were great, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the mimosa tower, which was pretty good. Lastly, the service was excellent and our meals came out on a reasonable amount of time.

Diane McKinney: One of our favorite Sunday Brunch spots! We like to sit outside and this summer they have added a shade cover so it's more comfortable out there. All of the food we've had has been amazing. There is a regular Sunday brunch menu as well as a special menu specific to that day. I was dissapointed that they had run out of the ingredients to make the Mimosa special so I was forced to drink a regular one :(

It was very large. Beware lol. It’s very sweet but the frosting is amazing. Got Lord kyler for the main meal. It was pretty good. Royce Shields: Upon arrival the place was really nice. Once seated we placed our orders. We waited about 45 mins before getting the two appetizers that were ordered. After about another 20 mins or so the waitress approached the table and informed us that she placed the order incorrectly(Unfortunately she didn’t provide us a name so can’t exactly who she was) but when asked about how long it would be before the food would come, she stated “well you ordered 3 steaks, rolled her eyes and walked off”(mind you all the steaks were 6oz) she also brought me a child’s orange juice and when she returned for refills I asked for more juice and she stated “well they said they ran out of juice”, as if that’s my fault. She could have said this and I could have ordered something else! We then we asked for a manager and asked the same about time frame on receiving food, because now we’ve waited over an hour, and with no response. He then stated “you did order steaks and your orders all needed extra accommodations, but not going to go back and forth with you we are working on getting it out to you, it’s only been placed 20 mins ago and walked off”…I am a manager myself and never would treat guest in this manner we then as a party of 9 decided to leave. It was very clear that other tables were a priority over others, but even as nice as the place displayed its self to be, we will not return to this location. There were guest that arrived after us and who spoke to us outside of the restaurant as they waited for the rest of their party, they got in received food and was leaving within the time of us asking about receiving our order. Ruined the birthday girls day for sure, currently looking for another place to eat. Worst visit ever!!!!
Lovey Carvin: My family of (9) went here for brunch and celebrating a birthday, while we arrived @ 1130 for our reservation was promptly seated at 1139(no problem) however once seated the sever(which I don’t recall her name) took almost 20mins to greet us! Took our drink orders took a while returning with drinks, promptly after we placed our food order roughly 12:15, waited patiently server returned to our table @ 12:40 stating it was a mishaps between her putting in the order & the kitchen staff! Never apologized for the mess up! I then approached the manager adv him of the issue.He begin to tell me we ordered steaks and etc, mindful of that however the fact the serve & manager both responded w/attitude’s & unprofessional mannerUNACCEPTABLE, clear to see In the environment was prioritized by color. Hannah Taylor: We met some family here for brunch a few weeks back and it was really disappointing. I had been looking forward to it for a very long time and heard great things. Our service was okay and the place was beautiful but there was long periods in between being checked on and the food was extremely underwhelming. I got the diablo and it was okay but wasn't really spicy nor had a lot of flavor and my boyfriend's french toast looked unappetizing. Definitely not worth the $70+ I spent on the two of us... Maybe we should have come for dinner instead.

Earl Fowler: This place is an excellent add to the Plaza area. An upscale restaurant that has a southern soul about it. Our group ordered 4 completely separate items from the menu, sampled each others food and the overwhelming response was that this food tastes great! The service was a little slow but we were there at prime time so a little leniency was in order. The waiter was quite nice and did time refreshments almost perfectly. The only thing that was a huge distraction was the temperature in the area we were in was like a sauna! Ugh it was sooo hot but the view outside was good from their newly installed great window facing Ward Pkwy. I will definitely revisit this location and hopefully in a more tempered area.

Danh Nguyen: Came for brunch over the weekend, I was advised to reserve in advance. I've heard that this place is popular and it was busy during the time we were there. The brunch menu is quite extensive and we found something that we each wanted, the traditional american brunch menu items that you would expect to find. I had the Plank with a side of sprouts and my friend had the Texas biscuit. The Texas biscuit was a large portion. The planks i got were also fair size (i took the option for all three). I had choseni t specifically as it was advertised as the only farm to market option they had. We were satisfied with how they tasted, but the sprouts were especially delicious. Pricey at 10USD for a side though.We took a mocktail each, the berry mocktail which was very tasty, and the Dimples, which was less so.The only thing I didn't enjoy was that I felt rather rushed. They indicate that the reservation periods are 2 hour slots which is fair, but asking if we'd like to box up our food an hour after eating is a bit much. I eat slow for one, but we were also just enjoying each other's company whilst making dents into our food, we weren't dismissing it completely to indicate that we had finished. Granted the waiter accepted I was still eating when I told him but felt he was hovering a bit too much.

Emily M: Mediocre at best, struggling to see why this place has the good reviews that it does.The menu specifies that their chicken & waffle dish is a fried chicken breast. I specifically ordered it because i prefer white meat, over dark meat. I even asked the waitress about it and she recommended it. It came out with fried chicken that was obviously a thigh. I asked the waitress if the menu said it was supposed to be a breast, because i thought i may have misread the menu. She thought it was a breast, but checked with the chef. She came back to table and insisted that the chef says it’s a breast. I am experienced enough with both preparing dishes, as well as dining out frequently all over the country, to know the difference between a thigh & a breast. But for those(like their chef)who don’t know the difference, i’ll break it down. The 1st thing I noticed was the shape, they are 2 very different shapes. I cut it open to find it was dark meat(thigh) rather than white meat(breast). Thigh meat is also a noticeably different texture when you cut into and look inside. I would have even been ok if they apologized and said they ran out or some excuse like that. But false advertising + plus a chef that can’t tell the difference between a chicken thigh & breast??? Disappointing meal & experience.

The cabins and igloos outside were decorated so festively and the service was great throughout. I really enjoyed their chips and meatballs and their holiday cocktails with all the fun names. Luke Payne: This place used to be great but as of a few moments ago it is one of only two restaurants I've walked out of. We sat for over 30 minutes waiting on appetizers and the only time anyone came to check up was when he thought he was at a different table. We couldn't get a second round of drinks and had to chase him down for the original order. Slwe we're also one of only 3 tables seated in the dining room. My husband's dirty martini was served in a PLASTIC rocks glass... even though I saw they had martini glasses....and no we weren't out by the pool.. we were in the upper level on a couch. Also, do not order a spicy margarita. Thank goodness I asked how they are prepared...I guess they ran out of jalapeños so they are using tobacco sauce 🤮... if you don't have the ingredients.... just don't offer it. For an up scale bar you would think they would serve their drinks in actual glasses and not plastic.. even the beer was served in a disposable solo cup.

She was very thoughtful making sure we enjoyed our visit.The Chef brought the food to our table and explained what each dish was that he prepared. The Manager brought the dessert to our table. Manager was distant and somewhat non-communitive compared to most managers we come in contact with. When I asked a question concerning the dessert he wasn't very pleasant as if he was too busy and didn't want to talk at all. There were no other quest. Poor customer service and example for his employees. I will go back due to the waitress great service.
Jennifer Johnson: My boyfriend and I visited this bar on a Saturday night. The whole place was packed and they only had one waitress working. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks and ended up getting frustrated so we’d go get our own drinks from the bar. The service was absolutely unacceptable. Considering how classy this hotel is, I expected a better bar experience. I am very disappointed.

Julianne Rabal: This was my first visit to any Capital Grille location. I was celebrating a college graduation with high hopes of having a great experience with my family. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The food was decent, however our server was extremely rude and had an awful attitude the entire evening really spoiling our night. Brett would take our plates and drinks without asking if we were not finished - even when there were still a large sip left. He did not really acknowledge our special occasion. Alpha Landingham: Staff was on point. The restaurant space is rather small and feels kind of crowded. The decoration is art deco, strong 1920s glitz theme. The food was solid standard fare for a four-star hotel. Nothing bad just nothing all that special. I got the steak and my dad got the fish. Our server was definitely worthy of note as were the cocktails/bar.I would give the overall experience 3.8 stars. Enjoyable, but not exceptional.

He then asked to see my husband’s menu because he said he didn’t remember all the other items they were out of. He further said they were also out of the salmon entree and had no fish for the market fish entree. I’m a pescatarian, and so I was left with absolutely no entree that I could even eat.We left and went to Lidia’s where they were able to serve everything published on their menu and had a respectful server and delicious food. Five stars to Lidia’s!As we were leaving the American Reserve to go to Lidia's, the host and the hotel front desk staff person tried giving us coupons for other restaurants in the area. They oddly didn’t try to give us a coupon for their own business. The host told us that if we would come back next week, the American Reserve would have a new menu. They can’t even get a grip on their existing menu — why should we expect them to properly handle a new menu?

I can go elsewhere with more menu items and for a much cheaper price. I literally spent $100 for 3 glasses of wine, a grilled cheese, and a bowl of soup.

Marc Mc: Beautiful overlook of KC and really well decorated venue. We were here for a wedding, most of the food was good, avoid the chicken though. Service is wanting here however, very difficult to get served basic things and they seemed to be lacking a bunch at the bar. Lemons, limes and most drinks weren't well stocked.

Jose Byrd: Visited during a recent large party business trip. The views from the two level dining hall were so elegant, especially during Christmas time. Near the window you could see skaters at the local outdoor ice rink and the bright holiday lights that decorated Crown Plaza. The meal was quite good, although the bread served was burnt on the crust and no one (after 3 asks) seemed to remember to get my hot tea after the meal. A great place for that special holiday meal.
Lloyd Jasper: Many think of fine dining as passé. They may be right in terms of available restaurants, especially outside of NYC and LA. The American Restaurant in Kansas City is closing after 43 years in business at Crown Center. So if you are a big fan of the place or want to eat at the last vestige of fine dining in KC--you better hurry. We opted for the three course pre-fixe menu which had five different choices for each of the three courses. If you are not used to fine dining the service is slower and more relaxed. That doesn't mean the servers are not attentive, but you won't feel as rushed. Food here was top notch with a wine selection that is unparalleled. This unfortunately will be our first and last time as we live Hawaii. If you live nearby and like fine dining, this will be your last chance.
Maria Ahumada: I was on a business trip on my own and decided to see what The American Restaurant was like. I didn't realize how fancy it was and first thought it was out of my price range. The host was very helpful and suggested the lounge area and menu. They offer small plates in a pick and choose style of ordering. I had the duck egg, sablefish and octopus. All were excellent. The waitstaff were really nice and helpful in choosing my dishes. I highly recommend to experience!

If everyone served the same way it would be one thing. Only one server was 5 star elegant and eloquent. The others were 3 star at best.
