Talya and The Boyfriends actually know jazz like the back of their hands. Get here, you need this place.

Jennifer Fink: The Phoenix didn’t disappoint! Local artist Nikki White who appears most Thursdays is a treat and provides great entertainment. Highly recommend.
Holy Ghost glitter: Music was great! So small paid 5 bucks to get in so we could eat, but no table. Glad they gave me money back. Because of that I will go back to try the food that was highly rated by a friend!

j a: Went there Thurs night to go see Nikki playing. Got there it was myself ,wife and 5 month old.nikki like us and waitress did also. was good until around 9.another employee I think came over and told us we had to leave since did not allow younger in there after 9. So give us things so we could take are food to go.had to ask waitress for ticket since she was unaware. Would have been nice to know from get go.that way wouldn't have gotten to kozy being there and wouldn't have my meal interrupted. Would have avoid the whole place.hopefully it was the truth and not malarkey because of and individual try to go above and beyond. Which was weird since not much people were there. Was trying to support local yet will not go there for a while.will just have to catch Nikki playing at another location for now on
LS Tours: THIS is the place to go for LIVE MUSIC and GREAT FOOD on a weeknight! We visited on a Tuesday and were blessed with hearing the piano talents of Walt and the singing abilities of Talya, who can really belt it out with the best of them! What a great vibe, a welcoming atmosphere and even unexpected back up singers from the crowd! What an unexpected treat!

Casey Kline: Took my wife (recently married) out for a first date night as a married couple, we stayed at 21c Museum Hotel and decided to go to the Phoenix and it did not disappoint! The music was fantastic, the energy was pure, cozy welcoming. We had the cajun pasta, it was absolutely delicious, hands down the best i have had in Kansas City. My wife is a big foodie and she rated the pasta 10/10 as i would've rated it 11/10. We fell in love with this bar and will for sure, be back! Thank you for giving us a bar to remember. Also, no pictures taken of the food because it was soooo good i didnt even think to take a picture. Next time!
Lillian Anderson: Me and my date was looking for a place to bring in the New Year. We pulled and asked a few people standing out, how much to get in. We were told $65.00. I think that's highway robbery, just because it's New Years Eve. I normally go and it's free or 5-10.00 per person to get in. 65.00 for hats and noise makers ??? Really??

Amanda Wright: It is a very small venue which can be good and bad. The bathrooms should not be used unless you absolutely have to.
Laura Kay: I love this venue, the bands that come through are amazing. The bar is great, rotating taps, over 20. Being able to see music in such an intimate setting is fantastic, and there is an outdoor area that frequently (prepandemic) got a lot of love. Bathrooms are epically awful, but still function. What more could a girl want?
Dave F: This is a neat little venue, with all of the beers you could want. The only downside is half of the room is elevated, so if you're at the bar, you can't see the stage.
Joshua Fox: It's one of those hole-in-the wall places that you just fall in love with. I've seen so many great bands there over the years... always a great time.

Caleb Smith: Decent venue that often becomes super crowded and way too hot (especially in summer). They have some decent artists and the venue is nice. The bathrooms get super nasty the later in the night it gets as they don't seem to clean them until events are over.

Alexander Vallar: A neat little dive bar and an intimate concert venue all wrapped in one. It attracts an eclectic crowd and a diverse range of musical artists. Its ideally located in the heart of Westport. Parking can be a little tricky, depending on the time/day. Every time I've watched a show here, I've had a pretty good experience.
Randy Spotts: I was in October of 2019 to see Virgil Donati in his band. It was great atmosphere, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The location was great, as there are many eating and drinking establishments nearby. Virgil and his band were incredible.

The booking process was super simple. Taylor was extremely nice, extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure my friends and I had a great time. I’m sure the other bottle service girls are great as well, however if you can, I suggest booking with Taylor! Thanks again for a great experience!

Patrick T: Warm wood and brick throughout. On warm days, they've got a wall to wall floor to ceiling garage door bringing the outside in. Great live music. Covid took a toll, the kitchen is currently closed, and they don't open till 5. Music is often old school blues, bluegrass, plenty of open Mike jams of the same. Occasionally a rock or funk band plays... (usually a fusion that fits in the nice warm space). A whiskey and beer pub. Yes, pub vs any ol bar.

After waiting for 45 minutes (after paying the cover charge) waiting for the advertised guitar player to begin, I found out it would be another hour. The guy that was playing in his place sounded as if he was making up the songs as he went along - at about 120 dB.Not recommended.
Mizzou Marine: This place is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! Awesome owner, great staff and the atmosphere is AMAZING!!! If you’ve had a negative experience here, you love a brick wall. Super fun!!!!

Lot of unique and different sounding musicians played while I was there, which is nice because it allows you to listen to music you might never would have before!

Gwyneth Bowen: First time visiting The Blue Room for a show. This happened to be the 5 o'clock Friday night free jazz show. It was a real treat seeing (hearing) Lady D and her band! Great ambience, a wonderful mix of people in a really welcoming space. Had previously visited the museum, a "don't miss!" and was just as thrilled with this experience. Highly recommend!

If it hadn't been for my friend vouching for this place I wouldn't have ever gone and I wouldn't know what I was missing out on. The music is outstanding, the staff is phenomenal and the overall atmosphere is welcoming to new people and so positive. I want to come back even if it's out of my way just to experience what I did tonight again.

Jel Mo: I cannot give the music and hospitality of 4/28/23 off my mind. I haven't been to a Jazz Venue in some time, and the Music had me crying inside over Why I ever left. The richness of the trio playing was absolutely transporting! I'm horrible with names, but I caught one singer's name, Chloe. Terrific. A while later a quartet played that was a total joy, especially in watching the good time that Trent (I think) had, playing that trumpet. The music - great, the house - great, and the people - Great! I WILL BE BACK to the Blue Room!

Brianna Raakman: This place is extremely dark. I could not even tell when I entered which tables were free because it was so dark. They only had QR code menus and it was too dark for my phone to scan it. The layout of the space was not great because the band is right at the entrance so only a couple tables can see the band the rest are too far away. Yes the live music is nice but the aesthetic of the room was not my style and it made it difficult for me to stay and enjoy it.

They have a main stage with a giant screen tv. Nice attraction in the downtown area. Walking distant from Union Station and other bars and restaurants.

Chris Brown: Our group watched the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl game here and paid $1000.00 for two V.I.P tables. It was lots of fun, the staff did the best that they could do to accommodate the large crowd of 8,000 plus people. However We paid $1000.00 for our 2 VIP tables and it was not protected at all. The only thing they had to block off our V.I.P Section was two retractable rope's and one barricade. People kept sneaking into our section and we had to kick them out on our own. There was no security there to prevent this from happening. We should have to fight off these vultures ourselves after paying all of this money for these tables. Next time The Management team need to do a better job on security detail. I have 14 years of Professional Security experience, which is what helped me protect my section from the untamed vultures.
