KC Clay Guild: what do users think?
Randy Nevens: Classes, sales, kids camp... all fun stuff!
Randall Vasquez: A very meditative activity
Haley Jester Mott: This studio is great! The people that use it and run it are very welcoming and willing to share their vast knowledge, whether you are a beginner or an expert. It is affordable and accessible.
Breanna Moak: Great classes with a variety of instructors.
Karl Rose: It was full of clay. Started crowded when were by last time, then it got much better. It can be crowded , but not always.
Kate Blythe: I had such a fun time with a friend at a Sunday evening beginner wheel throwing class! I can’t wait to come back and learn some more. This is an awesome organization in Kansas City!
Sammy Dewey: It was amazing! So fun to be hands on and make something with the clay. Be warned, unless you are going there for a class, it's kind of a free for all. I would recommend going with someone who's been there before or going to the class first. It can be intimidating at first but it's very therapeutic!
Futuristic Foggywatch: Great place. Reasonable prices.
William Laws: The Raku pottery night was so much fun. Great to learn and watch the kilns. Beer and food were great. Super fun atmosphere and people.
Carrie Junot: The classes are great for kids.
John Devaney: Granddaughters attended Kids Clay Camp last week. They had a blast and produced a lot of colorful ceramic projects. Ms. April was their teacher and clearly had experience working with kids. Grandkids leave out of town but are already planning to come again next summer.
S G: I signed up for the 4 week Saturday class and ended up walking out after an hour of the first class in sheer frustration. First of all, due to snow closures and the way their sale days fell, the June class STARTED the second Saturday rather than the first. Apparently 2 people showed up the first Saturday anyway so those of us who actually showed up to the first class as we were told to were targeted as NOT SHOWING UP TO THE FIRST CLASS. The instructor then repeatedly told us we had to move at LIGHTNING SPEED to catch up because we were way behind. There was absolutely no instruction, demonstration or even an example or explanation of what we were making, but we had to move at lightning speed to do it. There weren't enough materials for the class. There was 1 PATTERN and 2 RULERS for 5 students so we were waiting on everything and then barked at for being too slow. There also weren't enough boards to put the slabs on. Heaven forbid we didn't do everything EXACTLY as the instructor wanted us to as if we could read his mind and had been doing this for 40 years. I genuinely thought he was going to go off.I finally just walked out. I took this class (that's open to BEGINNERS) to LEARN a fun, creative and relaxing hobby, not to be barked at by an angry old man who can't teach, has ZERO patience and clearly didn't want to be there.
Tressa Roecker: Welcoming, friendly people. Great for any skill level.
Michelle Binicewicz: What a wonderful escape from the mundane routine of the day to day responsibilities. A Friend asked me to go with and having no experience I didn't have many expectations. We paid $5 each and $5 for 25lbs of clay, which was more than enough! It was so much fun to explore the feeling of clay spinning in my hands and transforming into random shapes!! The Staff/Volunteers were very helpful and knowledgeable. My favorite part of this new experience was watching 'seasoned' clay masters zone into their work...it was so relaxing just watching them. There were familes with their kids and older people with their grandchildren who came to just have fun and create. Truly a Beautiful experience!
Sara MacLeod: This is my happy place! Great people and low key welcoming atmosphere. All skill levels are welcome
Karren Deibler: Learn from one of the awesome teachers.
Justin Elderbaum: Took the late night Sunday one time class, we had so much fun and the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful
Christopher Draven: I’ve fallen in love with this place!Complete beginners should start here. The classes are geared towards the community, the resources are often communal (saving you from spending tons of money on tools unless you want to), and the prices are great!I’ve learned so much about clay and ceramics by attending a weekly class. My instructor is helpful and available when I need assistance.Throwing, trimming, and glazing my little pots has been a blast! Also, there are blocks of “open studio time” that one can reserve. There are smart COVID protocols in place, and masks are worn at all times by everyone in the building.Great organization! Can’t recommend highly enough.
Cole Myers: Very talented group of artists. I have always enjoyed their exhibitions and highly recommend a visit!
Anastasia Huggins: We took the Sunday night, 3 hour class and it was amazing! I'm planning on signing up for more classes :)
Linda Callahan: Awesome!

Driftwood Ceramics: what do users think?
Martha Tillmon: Update 2023: We all went back for a wheel throwing class! McKenzie had all the patience in the world, teaching us how to use the wheel, and because of that, we all ended up with awesome pieces. Again cannot wait to see them all completely finished!2022: Took my nieces (and their moms 😊) to a kid hand-building class. McKenzie made it super easy, and the girls had so much fun! We loved it and are already planning to come back for another class! Can't wait to see our finished products!
jonathan bogaard: Great instructors made it interesting, fun, and easy to learn. Highly recommend a class!
Joanie Feather: Our group of 9 had a blast! McKenzie is a fun (and very patient!) instructor. I can't wait to see our finished pieces! Thanks, Driftwood Ceramics!
Margaret Crite: I went here with a group of friends. We had the place to ourselves. The instructor was fantastic she was comfortable teaching allll of us - some were really bad at it. She was patient and confident! I’ve been really wanting to go back because it was such a fun time!
Robin Reece: Great group activity!
Colin: Had a perfect date night with my girlfriend at Driftwood’s Pots & Pints event that happens every Friday and Saturday at 7p. There was a mix of people at the event, so don’t be afraid to bring a friend or family member as well! You can BYOB to calm the nerves if it’s your first time spinning pottery. My girlfriend and I both found the instructors to be very kind and helpful. The quality of the instructors definitely showed in our work, which turned out very well. The best part is the instructors handled clean-up and will glaze and fire the pots for us, which we pick up after about 4 weeks. We both want to take a class now because we had so much fun. I would highly recommend visiting Driftwood!
Alicia Jefferson: We had a great time at the Pots&Pints! Such a fun group and patient instructor, Joy! I do, however think the ticket price is a bit steep for the allotted time. The tickets state 7pm-9pm, but we were completely done and cleaned up by 8:15pm. That was a little disappointing, but still such a great experience!
Tori Hoffman: My wife and I took a “Pots and Pints” class here yesterday with some friends and we had a blast! Mckenzie was an awesome teacher and made the class so fun. The small class sizes ensured she could make it around to help everyone individually. 10/10 recommend and will be going again!
Kayla Asher: Attended the valentines class & had the BEST time! Emma is such an amazing instructor!! She is so helpful, informative, and patient. Would highly recommend any class they are offering.
Alyssia Goodwin: I have taken multiple classes at Driftwood and every time it was a great experience to be able to learn coming in with no experience my first session on the wheel, to be able to have the space to learn, create and try something new! I could not reccomend more sigining up for a class or a date night or some activity with Driftwood!
Megan Romer: We had a fun and engaging class with Emma last night. She was helpful and informative without being overbearing or condescending and just seemed to be generally having a good time. It was a neat experience being able to throw on pottery wheels.
Leah Lambart: Fun studio space for learning about and exploring Clay. We did a hand modeling class which was so much fun. It's amazing how Clay acts and how you can manipulate it. They also have wheel classes and the availability to rent a shelf which comes with studio time. If I had more free time I'd be here more often!
dmscrivner: McKenzie was an amazing guide through a first time throwing session. My wife and I had literally never tried throwing clay and were able to successfully make a cup and a bowl with her instruction. It makes for a wonderful date with your spouse.
L A: Sooo awesome. My husband and I went for our 8 year anniversary. We took a private a class. So much fun! I will definitely be back. Thank you!
katelin quanbeck-hollowell: My husband and I did a 'Pots and Pints' date night class here and loved it! I feel like I learned some good tips for throwing on a wheel and we can't wait to see what the finished products look like! Definitely would recommend checking Driftwood out :)
Liz Wilkerson: HIGHLY recommend! I took my mom to a Pots & Pints class and it was a blast. It's a smaller class which allows McKenzie (shop owner/teacher) to really focus on each person. She was an excellent teacher and if you happen to mess up a little, she provides great feedback on how to fix it. She was really fun, had great music going, and overall it was an incredible experience. Perfect for a date night, girls night, or just something fun to do! Go NOW!
Tom Stanley: Driftwood Ceramics is the best spot to get your artistic juices flowing with your friends! Book a birthday party, date night, family outing, or just cause. McKenzie is the best teacher - she'll make sure you walk away with a great piece!
Abigail Williams: 10 out of 10 would recommend. I had been wanting to take a pottery class, since the last time was back in high school. So my boyfriend and I went here and had the best time!! McKenzie lead the class and was so lovely. So patient and was very encouraging. Oh and NOT only can you create your own piece of art ,but there so many amazing pieces to buy. Anyone looking for a little adventure needs to look into Driftwood Ceramics. ♥️So much fun!!
Brook Campbell: Had the best time at the Pots & Pints class! McKenzie is a great teacher, and just makes the whole experience so much fun! Will absolutely go back!
Lisa Bridge: Amazing place! Had an awesome time at Pots n Pints class for our birthdays! Definitely reccomend!
Chris Truong: Had a great time here! McKenzie was great! Perfect spot for a date night!

323CLAY: what do users think?
Katherine Venyard: I purchased 2 tickets to a class as part of my daughter's birthday. My daughter ended up with the stomach flu and we couldn't make the class. I asked to reschedule and was told no. I asked for a refund and got no response. There's nothing on their website or in the email receipt that mentions a cancelation or reschedule policy. Be ware if you can't attend a class, you won't be able to reschedule and they won't refund you, even partially. My next step is filing a complaint with the BBB.
Steven Potter: I started with a "sample" class in August. If you're like me, it's a great place to "get your hands dirty" and try it out without a huge investment.I then signed up for a full month of classes in October. Other than my sample class, I had never taken a pottery class and really have very little aptitude for fine arts or crafting. My work is poor, but the instructors are wonderful. I've had classes taught by David, Johnnie, and Michael. Each have taught me something new and a different way to approach pottery. All three are encouraging and patient.I love the community we have during the classes. I'm very appreciative of the patience I'm learning. For me it is about learning something new, being in the moment, and meeting new people. Although there are (what I'd consider) accomplished artists in my class, everyone is friendly, willing to share, encouraging, and all help me on my path. What more could a novice hope for?
Laura Boomgarden: The classes are so fun & the teacher is SO HELPFUL!!! I learned so much that I cannot wait to go back again!
T Vogel: Took a sample class and had a great time!! Failed then failed some more but got several pieces by the end of the class. Very much worth the price of the class! If you’re thinking of it you should definitely go!!
diana H: David is a great teacher. He was very patient with all of us and had to help some of us do the same thing over and over. I had a great time and I think everybody else in the class did as well.
mike householder: Took the beginner class, well taught with personal instruction when needed. Great value and an awesome way to spend an evening.
Cole Myers: Amazing group of artists and stunning facility. Fun and comfortable for beginners and also a trove of nationally renowned ceramicists.
Ruben McCampbell: Looks Like a Neat Place just Walked By & Looked In 💪👏✌😎😀!!
Anthony Yannotta: We did a class for our 9th anniversary. Our instructor was the proprietor. He performed a demo for us and then set us loose. I've gotta say, this was such a great experience! He took the time to help us get started and continued to be available as we worked through our first few pieces. He was super personable and we ordered a pizza and hung out during class. Highly recommend. We will be back.
Kris McGee: Had my wife's birthday party at 323Clay. It was incredible!! Far exceeded our expectations. Our host and teacher Brian Morgenlander killed it. Perfect balance of helpful instruction and tons of freedom - loved interacting with him. It was a blast. We were able to bring in food and drink which added a nice touch to the party. I think we even made some pottery pieces that are worth keeping!!
darlene wright: We did have a late start getting into the party but the birthday girl said it was a birth best birthday she ever had this is an awesome place to have a birthday party and I’ll probably be going there on a regular basis to learn pottery I was very very impressed they were very professional and they can teach anybody asked to see if you don’t know anything about pottery it was a wonderful time we had
Virginia Bergbigler: My gf took me for my birthday. The teacher/ owner David was so kind to us three. We went to the Thursday night try out class. We each made three pieces. We can’t wait to go back after they are fired and paint them. We laughed and felt creative. One of my best birthdays.
George Chrisman: Great place to work in clay. Options of firing cone 6-10 gas or electric. Fun people lots of knowledge and all are helpful
Patti Hickman: Great place to work, learn, purchase ceramics and meet new friends!
Sam Squirrel: Stop by 323Clay for a wide selection of handmade pottery from our very own potters. We also offer classes if you want to learn a new skill like throwing on the wheel or to expand your skills with advanced instructor Steven Hill.
Steven Hill: 323 is a wonderful ceramics studio in Independence, MO. We have an great group of ceramic artists working here and we are welcoming to new studio members. Come by for a tour, to check out a class or to rent a studio.

Back Door Pottery: what do users think?
Carolyn Skinner: Party of 6, 2 of them celebrating birthdays:) we had such a WONDERFUL time! Rebecca was patient and kind and so helpful! Want to go back!!
Lee Anets: I loved being a part of this studio. Becky, a KCAI graduate, was my first pottery teacher and is a very well rounded ceramic artist. I took many Raku workshops and classes from her. She also introduced me to glaze making. My experiences there helped me flourish as a potter. I am very grateful for the time I had with Becky and Back Door Pottery.
sai harshini: Rebecca was very skilled. She was friendly and the class was very interesting for novice students. She has a cool place :)
K. S. (WannaBGourmande): This place is so incredibly fun! Rebecca is a great teacher and is very patient. I always have a blast on the Tuesday night classes. There are classes on Thursday, too. My husband and I both enjoy coming here!
Laura Wagner: Rebecca Koop has a great shop with amazing work. Check in often to see the latest. She is an artist so her inventory changes often.
Larry Smith: Best
Heather Bowen: I just had a class with them and it was awesome. I never thought learning pottery would be this exciting
Tania Rose Rounds: Really awesome pottery shop with classes as well
ben smith: Coummarty gardens and pottery

Parkville Artisans' Studio: what do users think?
Kate McDonald: This place is a SCAM! Paid in advance 2 months ahead of time for a group of 10 for an adult birthday party, all of us showed up on time, place closed. No one there, lights out, door locked, no one answering phone, tried email. All 10 of us left out in the cold. 3 of us went next door to candle shop to see if they knew what was going on. When we told her no one at studio was there for our scheduled time, candle store owner lowered her head and said "oh no, not again!" She then proceeded to tell us that it has happened so many times she usually invites the disappointed pottery customers to make candles in her shop instead, but that day she didn't have enough supplies for our large group. Best part is, pottery owner won't return phone calls or emails for our refund, reported her to BBB and our credit card company for fraud. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!!
Erin Pickell: It’d be awesome if they were ever open when their sign says they will be. We’ve made 2 trips to downtown Parkville specifically to come to this place and they aren’t open. The owner never seems to be there when they are open. We made pots months ago that we have still not gotten word about if they’ve been fired. If you aren’t going to run your business like a business then leave so another shop can use the space. And for the record it’s called GLAZE, not paint.
Jianyu Zhu: I’m the boyfriend…still no pottery. They never answer the phone call
Lorenda Sumpter: I was so excited to see this place and spontaneously paint a piece of pottery. My boyfriend and I both painted and waited the 3 weeks for pick up. We called to see if we could pick up, a little after the 3 week wait, to find out our pieces haven’t been fired yet. We have called 3 times since then, and we are going on 7 weeks without them. What a bummer.
Kristy Robinson: There are so many fun pieces to look at and explore!
Heather J: My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed taking private lessons with Tricia. We have now found a new activity to enjoy together, throwing clay on the potty wheel. Great teacher and a laid back environment.
Samantha Zeigler: Tricia really loves what she does here and makes the classes fun and exciting. I love her energy and this place! Great to bring your little ones for some summer fun.
Diane Louise Baker: The staff here are helpful and friendly. As for delivery I am less than impressed. We originally booked a pottery class that is supposed to have 10 students. When we arrived there were only four wheels , we were lucky that the others were a no show. We paid $35 per person for a tiny piece of clay and made our bowls. Were were told to come back in two weeks and glaze. All was good till we glazed and tried to collect a week and two days later. I called the day before attempted collection and confirmed that our pieces would be there and ready to collect. The next day we went in and tried to collect only to find that the pieces were not in and that Trisha would only be in with them after 1pm. The expectation was that the pieces would be in store for collection at opening and not sometime in the afternoon. Really dissatisfied with this place. We paid a total of $140 for this experience and it wasn’t worth it for the lack of service delivery, the tiny little bit of clay we were given for the class and the lack of communication amongst the staff working there.
Mallory Clutts: My friends and I took the clay sculpture basics class and had a blast! We can’t wait to come back and finish our pieces. Will definitely look into trying out other classes as well!
Madison Wixon: Parkville Artisan's studio is a stunning step away from the day to day. Tricia is absolutely excellent with adults and children alike. From the novice to the experienced, she knows just how to work with you and help you achieve your goals and make you happy with whatever piece you are creating! I will always reccomend this incredible small business to anyone and everyone I know. Thank you for everything you do, Tricia! We love your spark and talent, and your ability to fit a day long course into a short hour!
Anita Belmore Wixon: Parkville Artisan's Studio is an oasis for me! When I walk through the doors I feel like the world just drops away from me! Tricia us the best instructor for my pottery and painting aspirations! She actually makes ME make my artistic decisions and choices while guiding me. Thank you!
Kathy Arnold: Very disappointed, in this class and how the pottery and paint turned out. The paint was too splochy still seeing the unpainted pottery underneath. This class is for children only not for anyone wanting to really learn. She doesn't really teach much and kind of finishes your pottery for you.
Wendy Landry: Trish is so fun to take painting and pottery classes with. Her energetic enthusiasm can help any newbie artist feel like they can create anything! Love this place.
Cristie Sharpsteen: Love this place. The amazing handmade dishes I purchased are frequently complimented and among my favorite things.
Randi Struxness: Lovely unique creations by local artists! I made 2 spontaneous purchases ... happy shopper! 👍👍
Marty B: This site great place to learn the basic skills on the Potters wheel, however it does not cater to those who wish to advance.

Belger Crane Yard Studios: what do users think?
Jonathan Matthews: Impressive clean facility with great classes, & friendly people. If you want to learn ceramics in KC from pros this is the place. Classes include access to facilities outside of class time. Variety of programming taught by visiting residents.
Joe Helmstetler: Good place for anyone into ceramics
Carol Carpenter: We is signed up for a four week class. The first day we received some directed instruction. After that you’re pretty much on your own. I mean you can ask questions here or there and there’s a few demonstrations. This really left me in neutral. I think the main reason that I’m just appointed is because of the way I was treated when I came to pick up our final items. Dismissive, short and super rude. First. they wouldn’t even allow us to come into the door that we were using for the classes. just ridiculous because I had to walk all the way around the back and find a door that I have never used before so I wasn’t even certain where I was going. There’s no parking. So I had to walk out through the back and all the way back around to my car to put my things in the car - making two trips. But more importantly, I was treated rudely as I was picking up my items. We run a business. I would never have treated any of our customers so rudely.
Kent Rockwood Tyler: Nice company pleasant service. Beautiful gallery.
Geoff faucett: Very friendly place
Thor Nelson: I have enjoyed the classes and the studio patrons are fun and easy to work around. Everybody is helpful and there is sense of community which is easy to join.
Lauren Brown: Incredible gallery with local, national, and worldwide representation. The staff were very kind and helpful while my friend and i perused the pieces. Hooray for the local art scene!! Thanks so much for today and see you soon!
Dawn O'Guin: This is such a cool experience! Loved everyone there and all the information provided is amazing. 4th grade field trip was a success!Bowls wood fired in 50 states was a favorite along with the totem like pieces.
Cindy Wall: Extremely, a very cool place!
cristina osorio: LOVED the beginning wheel classes!
Denise Turner: Awesome place
David Oberpriller: Great space! Gallery has some impressive pieces!
Tiffany Kline: I have taken classes there for several months and I am in love! Where has this been my whole life? Everyone is so welcoming. The teachers are so friendly and kind. The staff, wonderful and so helpful. It has become my favorite place to be.
Sara MacLeod: This class was so fun and I could have stayed for hours. Will be back.
Socorro Rico: Been talking wheel throwing classes here. The gallery is beyond beautiful. Great exhibitions come through here. There are also some hand thrown mugs available for purchase. Affordable! As for my classes, i was given a code and can come in and out during studio hours. Classes are very worth signing up for!My registration was $140 and it included a course once a week for a month (4 classes). Unlimited studio access, 25 lbs of clay, firing and glazing. I recommend you come in an additional 2 times a week aside class time.
Rosemary Gudelj: Fantastic studio, great pottery class for newbies
Kyle Balstad: Such a unique and exciting place to have in downtown KC. A great way to explore ceramics by learning through classes or enjoying the works of art in the gallery. They make entry into learning about pottery easy and fun.
Ruth Naranjo: Always good to see what is new and what classes are being offered.
Cassie Crooks: Katie P. taught us to use a pottery wheel and we all made bowls and cups, then we painted/glazed them. Wonderful large studio!
Kassandra Finklea: They were very helpful and answered all my questions.
guy cagle: As beginning potters, they've been very helpful with classes, studio time, and kiln time.

Amy Knapp: We booked a painting class for my Dads birthday this month and had SO much fun here. Richard was amazing and made even the most artistically challenged people (like myself) feel like a pro. The atmosphere was super laid back and fun and they plenty of time for wine and snack breaks throughout the session :). Richard also won some bonus points for letting us raincheck on two tickets. We were supposed to have 7 ppl at the class and 2 were unable to attend last minute. We fully intended to eat the ticket prices since they reserved those 2 seats for us, but he was super understanding of the last minute change and put the two tickets back on a giftcard for us without us even asking. It was such a great experience and we will definitely be back!
Elaine LaFoe: I had some friends come to town for a few days and we made reservations with Richard to do a painting. I am so glad we did as my friends said that it was the highlight of their trip. First, I wrote the wrong date on my calendar so Rich had to show up two nights in a row for us. None of us could not even draw a stick person so he had his work cut out for him. He was so patient with us and gave us so much help. Not only that but he made it so much fun! I highly recommend painting with Rich.
Kelly Berry: This class was absolutely AMAZING! My fiancee and I share the same birthday and wanted something new and fun to do on our special day. It was a very personalized session with wonderful teaching by Rich! Highly recommend this to everyone and we are definitely planning on attending another!
Alina Sinha: Our instructor Rich was amazing. My daughter and I came in at 6:30pm for his class and he let us choose whatever we wanted to paint. He patiently waited for us until we were happy with our painting at 10:30pm(on a Friday night), unlike most places where you are rushed out. He was also very helpful when we needed an artistic eye as neither my daughter or I are artists. All in all it was a night well spent!!!
Mary Ann: Richard & Michelle are incredible. We had a fantastic time hosting my sister’s bachelorette party there. Richard and Michelle are very personable, professional, and open to new ideas. We are so thankful they were able to accommodate our request & work with us. Highly recommend hosting gatherings/parties there or attending classes there.....I can’t wait to go back!
Tim Eicherl: I would highly recommend visiting Art Experience when in KC. Richard and Michelle do a wonderful job accommodating their guests and have an "art" of instructing others. They are both very good at what they do. The studio is very welcoming and the atmosphere sets the scene for a great time. We had an incredible experience and cant wait to go back again for round 2. Thank you. Richard and Michelle!
Maggie Holt: Signed up for a Monday night class, and it was just Rich (the instructor), myself, and my friend. We picked a painting, but made some fun modifications. The whole time we were just joking around, having fun.If you're going in a small group (2 or 3 people), I think having that custom experience is really awesome. But if you're in a large group (especially with strangers), I wouldn't request anything extra -- at that point you're just adding time onto the experience. This is a great place!
Caleb Bonderer: We had Rich for our class and he was absolutely amazing. He stayed late to make sure at finished our paintings, helped us customize them, and was supportive and helpful throughout the entire experience.
Tyler Jonathan: Amazing first experience! Walked me through how to draw and paint a t rex! Turned out amazing. Used skills i didnt think i had. Techniques and tips were given throughtout the entire session. I went with my mom, most certainly coming back with my significant other!
