sara bethany: It's a nice pool in the neighborhood. I have been going here for a couple of years now. Just be warned...there are no concessions at this pool. When I go I bring lots of sandwiches, drinks and snacks. Very good family atmosphere, lots of kids go here. The life guards and pool workers are nice.

Kai McCoy: Plenty of awnings for shade; a large pool for swimming and keeping cool, 3'5" all through. Diving boards and deep water in a separate pool to the side. Very safe for young kids not confident swimmers! Though it's a hot day, it's not very crowded. A $12 pass gives you 6 visits, that's two for free! That means if Mom doesn't swim, it doesn't cost us when we go to the pool.

Kelly Cline: If I could give zero stars I would. This pool is HORRIBLE!!!! The dirtiest pool I have ever been to and I’ve been to some cheap motels in my life and this one is by far the dirtiest. There were dirt, leaves, bugs and DEAD FROGS in the water. Staff is very rude. There were two female lifeguards that treated my kids and I very poorly. They also had only 2 lifeguards and would only open one pool at a time so the kids couldn’t use the diving board area when the wanted to. Don’t go even doe $3.

Kevin Huebner: Great public pool! They have a large lap pool, an adults only pool, one for young kids, one for the whole family, and one with slides and diving boards. The only downside is the relatively high price, but after 4:30 it's half off.

james schaefer: Great pool! Excellent place for the family! 8/18 Update: I've noticed that the slide and diving board pools have been closed this week and last on the days that I've visited. I suspect this is largely due to the student staff returning to school. Still well worth the season pass.

Our last visit on the final day of the season was a little disappointing because the main pool was closed and they had to open lap lanes to accommodate everyone. Overall, a great place for summer sun and fun.

Matt Bailiff: I live close to this pool and it looks nice, but my little kids were whistled at constantly by the lifeguards. Then they whistled at me for having my son sit on my shoulder. I then asked for the rules about it, and they just said oh anything within "reason". So I asked if I could throw them, roughhouse a little like you do w/ little kids having fun in the pool. Same answer...within reason. So basically you are just doing stuff waiting for them to whistle at you for whatever they deem is too much? Post some rules, and let people have fun

Kelly Chesley: Pricey for non resident admission, but this is a great community pool! The building is nice to look at, there is a variety of chairs (lounge chairs, regular chairs, and dining chairs at circular tables). A large wooden deck area in the back provides tons of shaded seating, while other areas around the pool deck are in full sun. There is one grassy area kids could play or have a picnic.Baby area includes zero entry, small slide, and buckets that dump water. Shallow end has various long step entries, making it a great place for parents to watch and sit in the water while young new swimmers play. Other amenities include a slide, two diving boards, snack bar, full family, women’s and mens bathrooms, changing areas and showers. They also have many goggles and floating devices for young kids. Love that you can bring outside food in. We had our pizza delivered here last Friday night :)

Lance McCarthy: Havent been here for more than a year because of the 'Rona, but it is nice, clean, and sufficient. Nothing huge or ostentatious, here, just a nice, well kept city pool. A couple of diving boards, a little wading area, and enough room for about 8 lanes
Julia Whitley: I am a young adult woman with no kids who still enjoys getting to swim and tan in the summer and this is my choice of place to do it! It only costs $7 as a non-member and although there usually are a lot of kids, they tend to not be too crazy. There is also an adult swim every hour and the food prices are great! Make sure you get there early, or you will probably have to park in the neighborhood, but honestly this is one of my favorite places to go in the summertime!

Cate Evans: It's a good faculty, but special treatment is given to low income people over paying members. Like, having special hours on the pool. The pool is closed to paying members between 1 and 3, during COVID and still remains in effect in all Kansas City YMCAs. I also use the Y in Platte City and can't use the pool between 1 and 3 for no good reason. Why is this still operating under COVID hours?

Daniel Bethe: This is the best YMCA of my life. It has a huge open floor plan that’s very inspiring when you see all the possibilities. You see lots of activities and people are spread out with plenty of room. A variety of personal trainers can make long term appointment plans or do a quick orientation tour. Check the website for photos of the amazing pool and river and hot tub. There are activity labs, video games (PS4 and more), 3D printers, computers, and a music recording studio, all maintained by volunteer kids and overseen by staff. Best Buy donated $20,000 of gear so 3D printing is all free even without a membership. There’s a daily food bank because these people all have hearts of gold.

Andrew Jensen: Would help if persons answering the phones could answer simple questions rather than hang up on you. Very politely asked if they would ever be going back to pre covid hours as closing at 8 is difficult for people who work late. "No extended hours" was the response and when I rephrase my question I was hung up on. Calling back did no good and there is no place to leave a message. At this point it's absolutely ridiculous to pay as much as we do for such limited hours well beyond any excuse of covid policy.

Kevin Cronk: Took my two boys here to swim, the schedule said the kid zone was open 9:30-1pm. Showed up at 11am and the kid zone and the slide were closed. We had to swim in a small area next to the hot tub. Then, knowing the kid zone was closed, they wanted to yell at my 4 yr old for wanting to jump off the stairs into the deeper water. 3 more kids showed up to swim while we were there and yet they still refused to open the kid area. Pretty disappointing to say the least. They should stop mentioning the kid area or the slide when they are giving you a tour trying to get your membership since it’s never open or operational.

My only concern is when they put in the stairs for the handicap or others who may need it, they put it across the entry door. It is quite a walk for him from handicap parking to getting in the pool. He loved the pool and being able to move without a walker in the water.

Whitney Smith: This is a nice hotel in the heart of KC. Great location for what we needed (attending Boulevardia). Check in took quite a while, and they weren’t sure if our room had a Murphy bed or not. It didn’t, and when we went back to the check in to get a different room, the line was even longer. So, we requested a roll-away bed that was delivered promptly. The phone in the room had been left off the charger, so we weren’t able to call the front desk to request new towels and had to walk back downstairs. It did work once it had charged, though. The main issue was the cockroach that came scuttling across the bathroom the next morning, so I sure hope I didn’t bring any home in my suitcase.

Jonathan Westerdale: We stayed for two nights and were splurging because we don’t get out of town for pleasure very often and Westin has a great reputation. Overall, I was far from impressed for what is supposed to be a 4-star hotel, I travel a lot for work and I’ve stayed in far nicer 3-star hotels. The amenities that put it over the edge to get to 4 stars (I assume) are the pool, nice lobby area, location, and gym. However, everythingthat actually matters like cleanliness, room design, shower water pressure, the mattress, parking, customer service, and even air conditioning control leave a lot to be desired.In our room were dirty towels and, honestly, few towels. Our counter was dirty and the shower had hair in it. In the bathroom also, the shower design is so odd, not really allowing for full water pressure from either shower head. The windows do not open and I thought there was a balcony, but there’s just a strange railing outside the window for some reason. I’m willing to forgive the bed, but for the price of the hotel (not even including the $25/day parking), I was expecting more. Again, this is supposed to be 4 stars in the center of the city. We woke up sweating bc of the lack of control of the air conditioning control and customer service was not very helpful. On that note, when asked at checkout how our stay was, I stated “fine, but not ideal, if I’m being honest” and the front desk attendant didn’t inquire how to make the stay better for others.I almost forgot to mention the terrible elevator situation. We had to plan out time in our travel time to get down or up the elevator, going down or up could, no joke, be a 10 or 15 minute affair.There weren’t any roaches or anything outrageous, but for the money paid and Westin’s reputation, I’d rather find a boutique hotel or something along those lines that might be closer to the things we actually wanted to see.
Zach Tetuan: Absolutely garbage hotel. I pre-booked the room through a 3rd party site that I use for all my bookings. When I arrived, just like any hotel, I swiped my credit card for incidentals. They proceeded to charge my credit card 4 separate times for a total of $500. For what? I have no idea. I called the front desk and they were no help saying the charges were a mistake but I needed to talk to my credit card company to fix them. So I called and had the charged disputed. It was removed for a month only to be put back on after the hotel apparently responded back to the credit card company saying services were rendered for the charge. They most definitely were not. I pre-paid for the room and paid separately for parking. There was no reason to be charged the additional $500. Now I am in the painful process of responding back and forth with my credit card company. So if you value your money, look elsewhere for a hotel.

Cahira Latin: I loved that the lifeguards where active with the kids. Very nice environment. And for 1$ to swim was a blessing for a mom with 5 kids. Me and my children have found our new playing grounds.

LaToya Garcia: Terrible experience at this hotel and pool! My daughters were assaulted by a group including a male physically pushing my daughter. The management DID NOT handle it properly! They did NOT call the police on the aggressors AND they put my girls in a back room as the aggressors continued to yell racial slurs at my kids. They told the aggressors to leave but before they left the management allowed them to VIDEO my girls while they laid out by the pool. Our girls called the police NOT the hotel management or staff! When I arrived the male manager had a smirk on his face the whole time and wouldn’t give me his card or name/info instead he told another employee to get her card, he was completely useless. This hotel is not safe for young women!

Jimmy Shelton: Overall, it was a great experience, rooms are clean beds comfortable. The only thing that was disappointing was the restaurant. the wait staff at the bar were not very attentive. We had to go out of our way to get their attention, overall not great at the bar and restaurant, lobby staff while checking in were great. The coffee bar in the morning is cool but not complementar, we ate breakfast elsewhere.
Rachel Jackson: Pros:- nice lobby area and outdoor seating area- very polite and friendly staff who were attentive to our needs- location is convenient if you plan to go the country club plazaCons:- the lampshade on the main lamp in our room was obviously broken and kept falling off the stand- the entire place feels dirty; the hallway and room carpets were visibly dirty and stained- the fitness center has very limited equipment and was missing many of the items featured in the photos- there were no USB ports for charging items; the iHome provided was very outdated and broken- some of the outlets in our room would not hold the electric plug and were not functional- the rainfall shower was barely dripping and had horrible water pressure- we tried to use the rooftop pool but it was very crowded; the pool area is very small and they allow non-hotel guests to use it so there is limited room for hotel guests- I was supposed to receive my receipt via email but it never arrivedThe entire place needs to be updated to current technology and functioning. It feels like a hotel with amenities from 2010. The staff were the only saving grace.
Brooke Sanders: Rooms: We arrived at 6 pm and found the carpet wet in our room. GROSS / is it a leak ? Is it sewage ? We were assured it would be taken care of - 3 hours later - nothing ! And the front desk told us to go find Cassie at the bar ! She told us she didn’t have time to check her email bc she has a luau going on? And told me to stop talking . Worst customer service ever .
