Ashton Wicks: Shane was our tech, he was a nice guy, but the whole experience I realize now was a scam. We had two options for entry and although he seemed to be fairly sure which one he needed to use, he pushed us to try both, even though it would cost more. Of course it was the second point of entry where we found the problem. He then struggled to get his machine past the first 10ft and made comments about how the pipes may he collapsed. Then another tech came in with a camera to look and said there was a “root infestation” and that there was extensive damage to my pipes and that I would need to have my pipes relined and all of the roots cleared out. They quoted me $16,500 for that. They charge me $900 that day and solved nothing.Well, two days later it clogged up again and I called A-1 Sewer & Septic Service, and the tech there came out, and in LESS THAN AN HOUR completely cleared out the roots, let me know that it was not a lot of roots, but it was enough to cause the clog that was happening, and that my pipes were in fine condition and there was absolutely no collapse. And he did all of this for $300 when Roto rooter came out and charged me $900 just to not fix the problem and tell me it was significantly worse than it actually was.ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMENDService:Plumbing

Mason Murphy: I used R Mech last year when my water sourced heat pump was acting up. Though R Mech is a self-described expert in heat pumps, the first technician said my thermostat just needed replaced, so I was disappointed when it proved to be a misdiagnosis after purchasing and installing a new one with same issue. When they came back out to try again, it was obvious the new technician did not have experience with this type of heat pump and was struggling to interpret his own diagnostic codes, so all in all I paid $99 for no accurate diagnosis, and wasted time. Thankfully a family friend found a patch fix, but now needing my system serviced again and I don’t think I’ll be using R Mech because if they do have experts, it certainly wasn’t the people they dispatched to me last year.Service:A/C system repair

Eben Fowler: I invited six different companies to provide proposals for the replacement of our main furnace/air conditioning unit, which had served us well for more than 30 years.Greg Latshaw, one of Midwest's 'Comfort Advisors,' came to our home and carefully measured and inquired about our needs. He spent a fair amount of time working on three separate recommendations for a system, based on various levels of efficiency. He was one of the few whose proposal included details about rebates from Evergy and the equipment manufacturer, Lennox in this case.After carefully comparing the six proposals, Midwest came up to the top. None of the proposals were inexpensive, but Midwest's proved to be the best value, in part because of the extra work Greg did to present rebates that helped mitigate the high cost somewhat.Our installers worked extremely well as a team. Each had his list of responsibilities, one working in the basement to remove the old furnace and coil, the other outside removing the old compressor, and then each working on installation of the new equipment. They then worked together to finish the details and test the system, and every aspect of their handiwork was done with pride...cables and drain hoses neatly installed and wire-tied for a very clean and professional final project.They had to return a few days later to install new thermostats that weren't initally available, as well as new humidiers (including one for the existing smaller system that serves the upper level), and then return a third time when I requested a change, the installation of a wireless thermostat gateway. Each time they came they were right on time, which is something I value greatly and the primary installation was completely finished on the first day. They also made sure the floors and stairs down to the basement were covered when the old equipment was hauled out and the new brought in. And, they slipped on shoe covers every time they came in until those covers were laid down.So when it's time to replace the smaller upstairs unit, I won't be calling six companies, but will call the best, Midwest!
