Wayside Waifs: what do users think?
Laurie Barker (hockeypro17): I just adopted my 2nd dog in 12 yrs from Wayside Waifs and this experience was just as great as the 1st. Matt, the adoption counselor, was so nice and friendly and gave us great advice on things we hadn't thought about. We love our dog...Nino the pit bull❤️
Kelsey Smith: It’s unfortunate that I put a 1 star review. Why am I doing as such? 1) as far as I have ever known they are a no kill shelter — this is not true. 2) they don’t use euthanasia as a source of last resort - they do it just to free up space. What was done to Poppi was unbelievably wrong on many levels. Poppi had a rescue willing to pull him and ensure he was put into a loving foster or adoptive family. That he was properly loved and cared for. There was quite literally not one good reason to euthanize this dog and you inhumanely stole a life — just to do it.I’d be ashamed of myself if I were in any of your shoes….
Tracy Gray: If I could give negative stars, I would. Wayside Waifs murdered a dog that legally belonged to another rescue, claiming ownership based on false information. He had no bite history and they euthanized due to barrier reactivity after less than a week, even though they were told we were actively working on finding a foster.UPDATE: It was NOT untreatable. You did not do a proper behavior assessment, and your people admitted as much. And we even offered to come handle him ourselves. Save your lies for the publicity ops.
emily sunseri: It was posted online that someone attempted to bring a dog here and they told them to dump the dog back where they found it cause they needed “permission” from animal control, they have repeatedly shown they do not care about animals safety and care, do not support them.
Ashley SoBougee: I had a better experience the second time around with adopting. I came in and talked to a rep. I told her that I wanted a small dog. $35 special. I got a poodle. I Luv him. I enjoyed the experience.
David Varner: Got there right at 5 after being told by someone that they were open for this event till later. Rude people told me they were closed and would not let us even look. Terrible. Will never go there again. As a business owner myself, I go out of my way to accommodate people even if they come right at closing. What is more important? Adopting an animal? Or going home to sit around and watch TV?? Will NEVER go back!!!
Mike: Don't try calling to see if the one dog you might be interested in is available. We called twice (within two hours of them opening mind you on a week day).It went to their voicemail both times. We then made the 20 minute trip out there to be told the dog was already gone. Basic communication skills aren't there.
Cathy Roney: We were excited to get our dog until her personality started changing and she started whining a lot, has tripped her owner several times. Later when asked to bring her back the lady on the phone said, yeah, those puppy mill dogs are very unstable. We were never told she was a puppy mill dog, just that her owner was being evicted and couldn’t keep her, running a puppy mill will get you evicted. We were deceived and lied to and now they say we can’t give her back for at least 8 weeks. If you want to trust these people that’s on you guys. I don’t recommend them at all.
Ruthie Wu: I found my perfect cat (now emotional support animal) here and I’m on my seventh foster today! I love the staff and how much they care not only for their animals but the community. It’s one of the biggest shelters I’ve visited and they take great care to make sure their rescues reach the right forever home for them.
Lexi Betterfly: They looked at me werid and the people made me and my family wait in there for 30 minutes and the dog try to attack my dog
Brenda Smith: This shelter is beautiful. The staff is very nice & professional. All shelters should be like this !!! ♥
Lauryn Massey: Both me and my sister have adopted cats from Wayside and both of us have had bad experiences. We have the sweetest cats, but hers brought Ringworm home to her other cats (still dealing with months later because it's so contagious, and that they insisted had multiple negative ringworm tests) and mine has a gum disease they didn't disclose to me that requires a $1000+ dental surgery in the next few weeks. I emailed them about it and they said they noted some inflammation in his front teeth (not the ones that have actual issues, also no notes of it in the medical forms they gave me). We don't trust their vets, or maybe the cats aren't examined enough but either way expect a lot of vet bills after you leave this place. I tried fighting for them to cover part of my cat's surgery because it's legit been four days since I got him, and he did not develop this gum disease overnight, but they want me to schedule an appointment to see him (they know I live an hour away) before telling me if they would help cover the costs or if they could provide the surgery and they won't reimburse anything outside of Wayside. Super disappointed.
Brianna Sakamoto-Jones: They were very kind, helpful and they helped us take a little precious puppy home who we love dearly ❤️
Thomas Hook: We had our pet cremated there and they were amazing. They helped us bring her in on a soft bed and give us time to say goodbye. Then when we got her back they give us a lot of things to remember her by and a note that made us ball our eyes out in the parking lot. The two ladies that were at the front gave us all the help we needed and helped us through the process.
Erin Matt Wedding: Amazing location and dedicated staff!
Phil Wieand: I had my cat cremated at Wayside Waifs just last week. Rachael and Victoria are amazing. When I brought her home I decided to look at the ashes of previous pets I've had. 2 of them were not done correctly and I had them done in another state. I contacted Victoria and she let me bring my other 2 pets ashes in to be corrected for free. They turned out great and the way you expect ashes to look. I am very impressed by the service I received for the pet memorial services.
monica dabbs-logan: Only putting one star because I have to to in order to post this review. Zero stars would be better. Their policy on looking at dogs is awful and hurtful to families. You shouldn’t be able to look at multiple dogs back to back and make other families wait for a decision to be made before they can even have a chance. We went to look at a certain dog but was told she was in isolation and wouldn’t be able to be seen. Only to hear an hour or so later that another family was given a chance to see her. We were able to see her but after we fell in love and wanted to adopt her we were told the other family finally decided and we’re taking her. Once you move past a dog, that dog should be fair for anyone to adopt if they fall in love with them. If there isn’t an $30 hold on the dog it should be fair game. Absolutely heartbreaking to see and play with a dog and fall in love and know she would be a perfect fit only for another family to take her. Even though we were there first we didn’t even have a chance.
Dometrius Cunningham: Worst place ever...never answer any phon calls...can never get in touch with anybody..smh
Steve Calovich: Kudos to WW's for hosting the Missouri House Rabbit Society!
Alexandra Rosell: I can’t say enough good things about Wayside Waifs!! I just adopted a kitty from there, and my experience was amazing. The staff and volunteers were so patient and knowledgeable, and they obviously really care about what they do. If anyone from the cat team is reading this, Kitty Boi says hi, and he’s very happy in his new home!!
Trisha A: I adopted a kitten here last year and had a fantastic experience, the staff were all very nice and helpful and I love my baby more than anything.

KC Pet Project - Zona Rosa Adoption Center: what do users think?
Stephen Andrist: I love going there I want to adopt all the animals 🤣
Tom Hamilton: Brought home a puppy 😄
SamsGarageSale: Fantastic organization
Kelly Colwell: Great place for the price, clean, quiet and reasonable. Just off main strip, neighborhood was safe.
lords of ambrosia: had a fantastic experience the staff was extremely helpful and I got a furry best friend
Amber McCurry: The people here are amazing and animals are definitely well kept!
Toni: Long story short: we went in one day "to look" and we left with a cat 😅 We visited about three weeks to a month ago now. It was right after I had to put my 15 year old childhood cat down. I was sad and I wanted to look at cats. We hung around for over an hour (maybe closer to two or three. Bless those poor workers 😅 I know they were sick of us but were too nice to say) I didn't tell them why we were there, I couldn't speak it aloud but we played with some of the cats, and my boyfriend fell in love with a sweet little orange guy who we decided to name Gideon. 🧡It was tough having a new cat so soon after the last one, but I think he needed me as much as I did him. The silence hurt me more than his presence so for that, I thank KC Pet Project for putting up with my indecisive-ness and for being so good. Highly recommend. 💖 Enjoy the small spam 🧡
Alexis Smith: My boyfriend and I adopted our fur baby from here. Staff was amazing, greeted us at the door and when we had questions about dogs we were provided with background knowledge. We got to personally meet a couple of dogs in a private room, found our match and we are so happy with her ! thank you for our furrever friend
Just Sturgis: I love the KC Pet Project organization and what they do, but this particular location is not great. It's not very well kept and the staff there seemed sort of apathetic and somewhat disinterested in helping me resolve my problem.I say this with some degree of sadness as typically this organization is on top of things. By contrast, the KC Pet Project main location is extraordinary. It's extremely clean and organized and the staff at that location or wonderfully empathetic. Maybe Zona Rosa was having an off day? I hope so.
Angel Krattiger: I came in today with my two children (9yo) to adopt a puppy. Staff was kind and helpful, the facility was clean and organized, and we were on the way home within an hour with our new best friend! Thank you! (Tilly is now Mikasa or Mika for short)
April Al-Mahdawi: After going to several places to find a new kitty, I called KC Pet Project in Zona Rosa, and they told me they had a whole room of kitties to choose from! My children and I went and held several kittens, and one caught our eye. The process was easy, and the staff was friendly and were able to help with questions. We took him home that day, and he is an amazing cat!
John Montgomery: Helpful attendants knowledgeable about my problem. This place is easily accessible by bus or car. Offered to check a stary kitten which found( me ) for a micro chip.Lots of lonely dogs in clean cages looking bright eyed pick no pick me kind sir. Great place. Was given referral to Branch KC Pet project near the KC Zoo.
Chrystal Reaves: They Fostered & Found A new Home For Our Dog When We Weren't Able To Take Him With Us To Out New Place. KC Pet Project Is Amazing!!!
Dennis Claus: SORRY, But" ODER" in the Zona Rosa KC Pet Projects building was Terrible the Last two times I was in there. Also, the Last time I was there, there were 3 women Talking around the Desk Laughing and as I walked around and looked at the Dogs, Not one of them ask if they could HELP Me!Adopted 2 dogs from the Old store several years back and had No issues then.
Roy Stewart: Exceptional Volunteers
Judy Lewis: Service was great but the details that are left out. On the advertisement for the weekend of the holiday. That adoption was $22. And then you find out that when you adopt a puppy it's $300. That was a little rough take and because it was for the child that was with me. I couldn't say no it was for Christmas. I was a lot of money that I didn't expect to pay.
SOLIDUSK GOD'S LION: Great people, they take good care of the dogs!Excellent family experience 👏
Grant Fowler: A great bunch of dedicated staff. Please donate when you can, its worth it!
Lisa “Lisalu”: Donations to help with the animals we love. In memory of a Dear friend.
ron boone: Good people doing a great thing very clean very professional nice place
Meba Conway: They have so many pets there they were all so gorgeous I did find me one but he was very rambunctious off the hook but he was a great dog but I took him back for another one but it was a great experience that I can say in the staff is very friendly and very helpful thank you

Another Chance Cat Rescue: what do users think?
Corey: I had a really good experience with Mina, not sure what other people are on about. I feel that it may rub some people the wrong way that they can’t come in and walk out with a cat the same day. It’s very obvious she’s a passionate woman and treats these cats like her children, what percentage of cats are adopted and then dumped because it isn’t a right fit for the owner or that the owner isn’t properly equipped to own a pet? I had a good experience with her and the ladies that work there and I’d go back to adopt again
gessica mulvey: I had a fantastic and super smooth process adopting my big boy Moe. The whole process took a week in total. He’s perfect and loves his new home. Mena was just great!
Saja Necibi: Had an incredibly smooth and positive experience adopting our first pet! We are grateful for the owner, Mina. She let us keep our chosen cat at the rescue for months until we were ready. Mina patiently walked us through the affordable adoption process with lots of helpful advice. On adoption day she gave us our cat’s favorite toys, foods and a box of treats! Mina and all the volunteers clearly pour their heart and soul into this. I can tell the cats here are loved and cared for. Highly recommend this place.
Sam Barker: They got cat's
Christi: Just adopted our new member to our family “Toby” aka Niko. All the kitties are happy and healthy you just want to adopt all. I’m so blessed we could give Toby a 2nd Chance, He’s so loved. Thank you ladies!!!
Nancy Benzinger: Love owner Mina and all she and her staff do in her community!
Mac: If you're looking for a forever cat then this is the place to go. :) Mina is a wonderful woman that takes incredible care of the cats at this rescue, along with her volunteers. The cats are extremely well cared for and absolutely loved by Mina. She wants the best future for these cats and will do anything to make sure they have it.
Quentin Sloan: I firmly believe the woman who runs this should not be allowed to continue. She says yes to bringing cats in, not to adopting them out. She will take your money, have you sign the contract, and then refuse to give you the cat for weeks. She lied about my cats age, didn’t post signage he was adopted, and didn’t give him to me for 2 weeks (And only because i persisted consistently) saying it was about getting him shots. However, the cats Haku(my cat) was roomed with seemed to be in very poor health, and my cat has been getting sick often since having adopted him. When she finally gave my cat to me, she came into my home and demanded to rearrange my furniture for the sake of the cat.I have a friend who just tried to adopt a kitten from her, and after also being refused for weeks, then saying the kitten was sick with ringworm, then finally giving them the kitten, she died a few days after.I do not believe there is a decent system making sure that the cats are not overcrowded, and their health properly taken care of, I feel that this woman is hoarding these cats in the name of an adoption center. It is horrible, and upsetting to see so many cats sick in one place, and being refused to go to homes that will properly care for them.Everyone is volunteered. This also makes me question the woman in charge even more. It is her responsibility, and from my experience, and witnessing my best friends, she is truly harming these cats in her care.I hope she is shut down and these cats are saved by people prepared for the responsibility it requires to run a healthy shelter.
Kimberly Burau: We did not go through the adoption process here but this place just makes me sad! It smells awful and the cats are just in tiny little cages stacked up on top of each other. They don’t seem to be played with or get exercise or anything. I felt bad that I took my kids in there to see that. I just wanted to rescue all the cats.
Cow Moo: Do not bother adopting from here. There is a reason why there are a lot of terrible reviews from here, and there is good reason why. We decided to give Mina the benefit of the doubt and try adopting from this place since most of the bad reviews seemed to be from people who adopted kittens. (Note that a lot of the good reviews were from people who didn't go through the adoption process.) We were helped out by an amazing volunteer who showed us an amazing adult cat that fit our profile and wants. After talking with Mina and signing a contract, a week later when we were supposed to go home with the cat to our city, we were told the day before that we were being denied the adoption since we lived more than an hour away (two hours) which was not stated to us as being an issue any time or anywhere. We had told them two hours was our travel time. We had already spent $1000 in cat products to welcome our new cat since we had not foreseen being denied the DAY BEFORE the pickup for adoption. It was almost impossible to be in contact with her through email or phone for an appointment or even getting a response. For a place that says they are trying to give cats another chance, they hold unto their cats very tightly and do not communicate well. Don't waste your time here and expect reasonable communication. KC Pet Project is a much better facility and has much better staff. I feel bad for the volunteers here who work so hard to help the cats get adopted and have people being constantly refused adoption for little reason. For a shelter that is at capacity and facing kitten season, it is truly despicable to go through this much effort and being shown such service.
Hannah Raines: DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! Went there, picked out a kitten and was unable to reach Mina for WEEKS. She had absolutely no intention on giving us our kitten after we had already given her all the money. I believe the only reason we even did is because we blew her phone up until the day we did. Upon picking our kitten up, she said she was “sick” but told us it was just ringworm. Treated her the way MINA told us to and had our kitten for 2 MONTHS, her max weight was 1.8 pounds and she ended up passing away in the middle of the day. Mina showed absolutely no care in the world even though she knew she was sick from the beginning. I will never recommend this place to anyone
Caity Beck: Mina and her staff were very friendly. They allowed us to meet all the cats and we were able to adopt Sophie, who chose us! I'm so thankful to the shelter for rescuing her.
Chili Pepper: This woman is an old crook. Telling people she won't adopt cats out to you after taking money and never returning it. There are way too many cats in cages, it's a dirty filthy foul smelling building that only opens on Saturdays. Not professional. Poor cats. She says they are "struggling." Well no duh! Stop being open only on Saturdays and stop scamming people of their money when you have no intention on letting them adopt! Garbage people and garbage location! Also a lot of the cats are fat since they just dump large mounds of large cat food in the spots they are in.
Adrienne Rebecca Rook: Gave her money. Never received kitten. Was given a lot of excuses. Went elsewhere to adopt after 3 months of visiting the kitten and getting the runaround. She refused to refund my deposit.
LaShay Miller: If I could give this place zero stars I would so firstly when we get there it should be expected that children will come along to as a lot of families adopt kittens for children to grow up with. I would happen to be one of those instances. So we get there and all the staff was extremely rude to my kids who are normal kids not ill behaved at all and know how to have manners and act in public places. So we decide on getting two cats named Nikki and Naomi (sisters we didn’t want to split up) we were super excited for them my daughter was so eager and also so upset when she found out we weren’t going to be able to take them home the same day, which can be expected I understood. Obviously she did not. Now we were told we would receive Nikki and Naomi the following Tuesday this was Saturday we were adopting them. So we paid $225 for rehoming fees and were made to believe the cats would be delivered in three days on Tuesday. Come Tuesday night we did not hear anything from the owner who was supposed to deliver the cats. I called her two or three different times and got no response left voicemails still no response. Come Wednesday I did the same thing called as well as texted as well as left voicemails still No response so fast forward to Friday she finally reached out to us to inform me that she had just broken up with someone of five years and it has been “hell to pay” now I try to be understanding but you’re reaching out to me three days after the schedule delivery and you are using an excuse of how you had just broken up with someone? Your personal life and relationship is nowhere near my responsibility nor problem. Alright Friday when she reaches out finally she tells us that she would be delivering the cats on Monday that following one. Of course come Monday no cats. She had scheduled to drop them off and said she forgot she was booked up for deliveries but she for sure could bring them tomorrow (today) would be that day she gets here walks in to my brandly new remodeled home and decided she no longer wants to give us the cats without explanation! oh!!! other than she didn’t feel comfortable with the fact there was no door that split my room off from the rest of the house because I have a finished basement which is where my room is. She constantly talks about how these two cats are skittish and how they’d need patience, so wouldn’t you want them closer to me where they know someone’s always near them?I don’t know but like I told her she’s very unprofessional and she really needs to consider a different day job because this company is obviously way too much for her to handle and this is also after getting multiple reviews of how she’s taken people‘s money before and does this same thing always.
Meredith Robinson: Very caring staff & lots of great cats to choose from. They don’t have the funding like giant pet shelters do but they have more knowledge and love for their pets than I have witnessed at other places. My first adoption was in 2017. Since then between myself, my mother & my siblings we have adopted 8 cats from here. They are firm on their declaw policy as another reviewer complained about, but if you are dead set on a declaw the lady there will take your name and call you if she can find one for you. All of my cats have claws and they use scratching posts.I definitely recommend Another Chance Cat Rescue not only to adopt a pet from but if your company has fundraisers this is a very worthy business to help out. They do their own fundraising on FB so if you can help, check them out. I am a huge Amazon shopper and was able to go to smile.Amazon.com and add Another Chance Cat Rescue as my shelter of choice so they receive money every time I shop.
Mini King: Great place to adopt a cat! Many cats to choose from, some feral, some extra fluffy, some old some young. My wife and i came in to find a male kitten or young cat to add to our family. Unfortunately most of them that fit our profile were bonded pairs and we couldn't take 2 cats. The ladies were very nice and knowledgeable. All in all a good experience.
Amelia Whittier: AWFUL. I called to schedule an appointment and she was very rude, acting like her lack of clarity was my fault. She also texted me "Not Adopt" out of nowhere, I hadn't messaged her previously. I asked if the cats were declawed and specified that we were not looking for a declawed cat. She then sent me a very long sentence with poor grammar and threatened to cancel my appointment for no reason, saying "Why would you think a cat would be declawed" and "we do not allow declaw", even after I repeated that we do not want to declaw the cat. She did not confirm that she cancelled my appointment without asking until the time of the appointment when we were already there. Don't go to this lady.
abbi p: Great care takers. Simple process for adoption
Mia Phan: Before you decide to adopt cat from this place, please reconsider it! In August 2020, I tried to adopt two cat from this place, Another chance cat rescue, I put down 240 dollars deposit for 2 kittens. Mina, the person who run this place, told me to wait 2 weeks for the kittens to be ready. However, after 2 weeks, she refused to give me the two kittens. I asked for my refund back, but I never received it. She didn't respond to either my text or my call. And when she finally picked up my call, she said that she already used my deposit so she can't refund it. I have to file a dispute with my bank to get my money back. It took me 2 months to go through all the paper with my bank. And I'm very upset. If you not 100% sure that you will get the cat right when you write her a check, do not put deposit down. She won't refund it.
Drew Van Slyke: I am very thankful for this rescue. Three years ago I was battling some chronic health issues. I was very sad to say the least. I walked into the rescue and that is where I found Jet. Mina was great to work with, and was very upfront and honest with me about all of the past trauma and health of my cat. Mina and the other staff made sure to take care of each cat’s individual needs. I am thankful for Another Chance Cat Rescue. They have given me one greatest gifts of all time. A cat that has been there for me when life wants to knock you down. If you are wanting a cat please do not go to a pet store to get a kitten. Please rescue a kitten or even better an adult and or senior cat here.

KC Pet Project - KC Campus for Animal Care: what do users think?
Teresa Dollison: everyone was very nice and would come in and check on you and your pet I thank everyone for being very welcome there
Larissa Mitchell: I absolutely recommend getting a pet from KC Pet Project. Staff is very helpful in making sure you go home with the perfect dog that will fit both your and the pet's needs.
charles Williams: Very caring people!
Chase Coleman: My cats had ran away, and one died and these people did nothing. I had left a previous review but I took it down because I see others on here are kinda making the message clear.I had posted a different review not to long ago in regards to a kitty that I had got that passed away over night within 24 hours of bringing it home. I took it down because I was so heart broken over having problems. But now I will say, while I was at this place, I witnessed 3 cats puking in their kennels. I even said something to a employee about one of the cats. And she acted like it was okay.Discrimination happens here alot. Be awareThey use tax dollars to pay laura vahn to come to your house and harass you when you are disabled. They don't want to help solve problems. As you can see they would rather cause issues then try to fix them..This shelter also kills animals
Cody Calhoun: I can't praise this place enough. We just adopted a dog from here this week and it was such a positive experience. The staff was SO KNOWLEDGEABLE and PATIENT. We met with a couple dogs and never felt rushed. When they supervised our dog to dog meeting they were extremely vigilant and ensured the safety of our current dogs. I wish I remembered the names of all the staff that helped my GF and I out because they were all amazing! Facilities were very clean and it seems like they really do there best to understand each dog's behavior and personality before adopting them out.
Corrin H: I brought in a sick and injured cat who had been living outside. Tiger at KC Pet Project welcomed us in and helped us through the process. They were so kind and compassionate, and explained everything thoroughly. Thank you KC Pet Project and Tiger for providing care to the animals that need it most.
Avada Reducto: Zero stars. We went after hearing they needed cats adopted. Got there and was very uncomfortable place to begin with. Now we have to say what pronouns we want or we can’t check in. Then after 20 mins of watching everyone sitting down/ eating/play fighting we left. No one was working or helping anyone that was there. Guess they really didn’t need to get cats adopted out cause no one would get up off their phones and help anyone.
Lesa Osgood: Very nice new facility. Good dog play areas. The cat rooms are clean and there was a volunteer there petting the cats when I was there today.I am sad that the facility is over full.
Mitch Nettles: Horrible experience. Spent 3 hours here and only saw 2 dogs. They don't let you see the dogs you want to see and steer you to the dogs they want you to see. You should be allowed to go pen by pen and watch the dogs and see the ones you want a meet and greet with. They bring them out one by one or tell you "this one is not a fit for you". How do they know how a dog will do in a totally new and different environment. I wanted to see 8 dogs but they said 5 were not a good match. Let me pick my own dog!!!
Jay Mexico8: Really great.
shannon beebe: Took a Very long time to even see a cat and you have to fill out stuff before you even get to look. You better figure out if you are a she it or a there there or he her, thats a question, No more Mr. & Mrs. Disgusting i say. Anyway Most animals are in foster homes so they won't be there. That is a good thing though.
William Fruits: Won't do their job.
Emily HV: I Had Brought A Dog That I found on the streets & After a week and months, I kept calling to check up on him & they always tell me they CANNOT give me any information. DOES IT EVEN MAKES SENSE ? I'll definitely give this place 0 STARS if I could. I literally gave my information out when I filled out the paper form & also had verified the Info as well. I AM THE FOUNDER AND THE ONE WHO BROUGHT HIM TO THIS PLACE & They can't even tell me How he is doing or tell me what had happened to the dog. COME ON. DO NOT BRING ANY TYPE OF PET TO THIS place. They probably KILL THEM and make you think they're taking care of them. That's why they didn't want to tell me because they probably KILLED HIM.
Christine James: Went in today to see one of the dogs, had to go home and get my pups for a required meet and greet to proceed. While I was driving from KCPP to my home and then immediately back to the facility the dog was adopted out to someone else. Just to be clear, I had conversations about next steps, was gone no more than one hour (Had to drive 20 minutes away to my home) and no consideration was given to the efforts I was taking. The first come, first served policy is destructive. Perhaps let people sign a form stating they will be back and charge their credit card if they do NOT return. I am unlikely to try to adopt through KCPP after this experience.
Ira Kullot: My girlfriend and I waited over an hour and a half to see the cats. We support kc pet project and everything they do. That said, there needs to be some accountability. It was very frustrating having to wait that long. The people at the front desk said since they're not on the feline team there's nothing they can do. laura greenspan: What a beautiful building! Staff is amazing the building is set up in a way for the animals to thrive and given the best quality care! Shout out to Bria for an amazing tour of this amazing place!
Ricardo Vargas: I am currently at the admissions center at KCCAC, and I would like to raise recognition to Derek, who just demonstrated high morals, professional ethics, humanity, and high respect for pet owner rights. Two women walked in with a dog that they apparently found on the streets. One of the girls behind the counter scanned him and found a microchip on him. They pulled up the owner's information, and Derek politely informed the women about the right procedure:1. Notify owner2. Wait for the owner to claim their pet3. If unclaimed, pay the adoption fee4. Take ownership of petThe women became upset that they had to pay for a dog they had found and clearly stated they could have kept him. Derek repeated how the process works and stated once more that the dog has an owner and they have a right to recover their pet. After having to repeat himself several times, he told them how they wouldn't like someone taking their dog.The two women walked out with the dog in tow, and Derek promptly followed them gathered necessary information so they could notify the owner and involve the authorities.I hope he sets an example to all staff here at KCCAC, as he clearly reflects the values that a place like this should uphold. Be proud to have someone like him working for pet and pet owner rights.
I Am Remnant: Definitely doesn’t care too much about animals as far as I can see. Disappointed. I called and called only to get transferred to different departments until I finally got to someone. I found a mother cat with eight kittens. I can tell she just had them. Because the blood and other things that come with giving birth. I was told that they couldn’t help. The mother looks like she may have been attacked by a dog. She has a hole in her body. And seems like she can’t see very well. It breaks my heart because I don’t know how she is going to be able to watch over her babies being in that condition. She turns her head a certain way oddly so I am really concerned. I can’t take her in but my daughter goes out to try to feed her and give her water and put a box out there with training pads that we use for our dog in a box. She has to pick the mama cat up and then the babies out the pads in there and the animals back in there. It’s really sad because she doesn’t seem to be functioning correctly. And these pet places don’t seem to help at all.
Brody Nick: I came to adopt a kitten for my girlfriend as a kind gesture! she was so happy to have a new kitty in her home & i think her little home was finally complete! a day later the cat is constantly vomiting bile & won’t eat drink or anything! we took her back to see if they could do a check up they said “there’s definitely something obstructing her bowles!” so we were going to do surguery after we found out this would be thousands of dollars for a cat we just got we thought kcpp would help! no they did everything to make sure this cat didn’t come back to me! they made sure to not take blame for anything so now the kitty was stripped from our home & im not allowed to get her back after weeks of them not helping me & making me feel at fault for this poor kitten i just adopted! ill never refer this place never will be here again & i feel for the MANY other family’s this has happened too!
Nicole Ten Napel: Adopted my 3-legged friend from kc pet project. It was clear he got the best medical care there and the adoption process was easy and painless. The staff is always friendly and willing to chat!
Amanda Schroeder: I adopted my two adorable cat roommates here, and now I go volunteer to contribute where I can spending time with the shelter animals.

Go see the animals at the shelter, you can meet Big Boy the shelter cat that greets visitors when he's not taking a cat nap!!

City of Liberty Animal Shelter: what do users think?
Tracy McMahon: We had the best adoption experience. The workers were thorough and always kept the dog's best interest in mind. We adopted Alli three months ago and were well prepared for what she knew and what we needed to work on. She has been the best addition to our family!
Richard Sloan: The great staff was so helpful when my dog got out of our house and yard recently while we were at work. I listed him on the lost and found section of their website and within a couple of hours I had received a call that they had found him and worked very hard to get him returned home that afternoon. If not for their quick work and dedication I may not have ever seen him again. Thank you so much for all your help!!!
Graeme Cruickshank: Adopted a beautiful Great Dane. Taylor and the entire team there are wonderful human beings, doing incredible things for amazing animals. The facility is incredibly clean and beautifully kept, and the animals seem happy and well loved. What a great experience. Pippa will be spoiled beyond belief, and we appreciate the kindness and trust from this team.
Nick Lageman: I picked up Farley today to join our family, everyone at the shelter was wonderful and it is a beautiful very clean facility. Thank you everyone that helped today!
Jonna: It is a very nice facility. The staff was very helpful.
Aimee Poirier: The City of Liberty Animal Shelter is a wonderful resource for animals in need and those looking to adopt a pet. As a potential adopter, I found the staff to be very welcoming, knowledgeable, and absolutely dedicated to finding the best homes for their animals. I appreciated the staff's willingness to find the right pet for our needs and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Katie Jackson: Amazing staff! Wonderful facility. They listened to our needs/wants in an animal and showed us ones that would be a good fit for us. Very happy with their knowledge and kindness.
Tamera Evans: Samantha and the Animal Control Officers are amazing and have a passion to protect, educate and provide the best home for the animals in their care! I was impressed with the application verification process so they can properly quality adopters. The new facility is calming and relaxing for the animals and each staff member we encountered displayed true compassion towards the animals. We recently lost our 15 YO Rat Terrier and were looking for a companion for our 15 YO Beagle. We intended to adopt one dog; however, the Officers brought us two dogs that stole our hearts so we adopted both. They also knew we just lost our Rat Terrier and gave us a handwritten sympathy card when we arrived which touched our hearts. I highly recommend working with the Liberty Animal Shelter team to assist you in your search for a new family member!
Nat Schaap: Can go play with some dogs and find out what's best for your lifestyle. They can tell you how the dogs behave and how they've been acting while in their care and very compassionate staff.
EricZMann: They did a great job in finding me the right dog(Gio) and He's house trained as well! I can't remember the young woman's name who helped us, but thank you and the shelter staff for everything!
Sarah Flahery: I’ve adopted all of my pets from shelters my whole life. This facility is by far the cleanest and most friendly place I’ve ever been to for adopting a new fur baby. The staff was extremely personable and kind. The animals all looked clean and well taken care of. We adopted a cat and could not be happier with our experience and our new fur baby. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this facility for adoptions.
Scott Woods: Tried calling to find out how to turn in a lost kitten and could not get a straightforward answer. No one answers the phone and website is next to useless.
Anastazia Acker: I got Inga from Liberty Animal Shelter in September and she has been the best dog I could have ever asked for. The wonderful officers at the shelter took the time to talk with me to find a dog that fit my needs and made bringing her home a super easy process. If I were to ever be looking for another dog I would without a doubt want to work with LIberty county again.
Jesse Carter: Nice place
Mark Livingston: As a first time cat owner I was coming in completely blind as to what would be the perfect fit for me. I was lucky enough that Arianna was the person available to work with me. I told her what my personal needs and expectations were for a cat and while she showed me a few potential cats I could adopt, none seemed to click. It was only after taking the time to speak with me that she knew exactly the right cat for me and pulled out a small precious cat which immediately started to purr and wanted to be held by me. I knew instantly that was the connection I had been looking for. If it weren't for Arianna's patient and ability to listen to my needs, I would have either left without my new friend or I would have gone with one who wasn't quite the right fit. I thank Arianna personally for her kind nature, humor and willingness to assist me in finding just the right cat for me.
Sara Reese: Liberty Animal Shelter and Arianna came through for a poor little orange and white kitten, hanging around a Liberty restaurant this July 2022. I called just hoping I could bring it in if I trapped it. Instead, she contacted the manager, got his support, took at trap and set it, and the kitten was at the shelter by early evening! This little one who turned out to be tame, sick and scared now has a chance at healing and having a much better future. Someone at the restaurant even plans to adopt it. Not only did this shelter help the cat, but also the person(s) who were worried about it and trying to help it. I cannot thank her and the shelter enough!
STL Girl: Tall lady was incredibly rude when inquiring on what I should do with an animal that just showed up at my house. I had tried several other avenues to find what I could do with this animal. She was very accusatory, very threatening and telling me im on camera that I cant leave this animal. She was beyond over the line and not even a smidge helpful.
Adam Bailey: This beautiful doggy means the world to our family. We give him 100% love nonstop. He has a super blessed and wonderful life. We would do anything to protect him!! He is one of our family members. Yet on Fathers Day of all days, a rude woman from animal control came and knocked on our door in the middle of our Fathers Day celebration to tell us we couldn’t let him outside for an hour at a time while it’s hot. What gives…? This dog is so blessed! We would never do anything to harm him. If anybody reads this, could you please tell us what we would need to do to file a complaint if this kind of thing persists? Thank you all and god bless!
Cai Cheek: My fiancée and I were pushed to surrender several of our cats here, the first time we had to do it there was no problems. The second time however, there has been some issues. I understand I gave up my rights as their owner, but a pets name is their name. It's what they answer to and one of the first things adopters look at. My pets have unique spellings to their names, I even watched the woman write them down after I spelled them out for her. Yet when I went to check to see if they were put up as available to be adopted, their names were spelled completely wrong and they even gave one of the cats a completely different name. These names are what they've been called since they were born. How do you expect them to respond to their new owners when you've changed their names? Also, I'm not sure if this is policy and they have to do it or what. But the male cats we brought in my fiancée and I had them neutered beforehand. So since we paid for their neuters not the shelter, why is it being included in the fee to adopt them? I don't believe it should be included in the fee at all.
Rick Bryan: Great people good atmosphere for animals
Fran Sears: The lady was very kind to me because I had to surrender my dog. It was really hard to do.
