Joseph Huth: I am updating the review I wrote below. Everyone, I mean everyone, I have spoken to on the phone at this clinic has been either rude or stupid, no exaggeration. I am so glad I cancelled my appointment because if the poor quality of service extends to the medical staff, then I would be in big trouble having them perform surgery on my eyes.I am a new patient and just called to set up an eye exam. The person scheduling the exam was unprofessional, singing and talking to herself during the appointment making process and making it unduly long and tedious. When I asked for an estimate of how long after the exam I would expect to wait for the acutal surgery, she couldn't answer the question, put me on hold, and called the surgery scheduler who wouldn't give her an answer. This is a simple and reasonable question. I needed to know if I might have to wait one month, two months, one year? I called the surgery scheduler directly to ask for a ballpark estimate of how long I should expect to wait. She responded that she could not tell me exactly how long. I did not ask for exactly how long! She then got testy and defensive when I asked for clarity. She said she could not give me a ballpark estimate but that it could take from one to three months. That is the simple ballpark estimate I was asking for! I am astonished at these poor communication skills and lack of professionalism in a healthcare employee. This does not build confidence in patients, which is part of her job on the front lines of the opthamalogy department. I now understand the frustration of the other 1 star reviewers on this site. I am sure their reviews are highly warranted..

William Murty: I want to shout out a big thank you to Dr. Tauber and his employees at Tauber eye center. They were all very helpful, courteous. I went to different eye doctors and they couldn’t find the problem. Doctor Tauber found the problem right. It was deep into my cornea. He took all the precautions necessary and removed it successfully with no problems. Thank you again Tauber eye center.
Jennifer Swoboda: For the last couple of years I have been traveling from Manhattan Kansas to see Dr. Tauber and all his amazing kind and always on time Staff. I suffer from symptoms of severe dry eyes, blepharospasm and meibomian gland dysfunction therefore I see him sometimes every month and it is most certainly worth the trips! You can put all your trust in Dr. Tauber’s extensive professional knowledge!

Poncho67: I'm a health care professional and scientist for a living. So I do my research on doctors before I choose to see them for the first time. Dr Tauber's credentials are first rate. He's coauthored research and is an expert on the eye condition I was concerned about. I found Dr Tauber and his staff to be every bit of what I expected. After initial testing and taking a proper history, he took the time to really engage and explain what was going on, he conducted further testing, and developed a solid treatment plan. I'm very satisfied with his expertise and personal approach to care. His staff if excellent, and friendly as well. I appreciate the time taken by the staff to educate me on the issues and provide effective training for self care.
Tyler LeBar: I had a horrible experance here. I went in to get a eye exam and get new contacts. I have insurance they didn't use, there was no eye exam. I was told to contact my old doctor to get my perscription. Then nothing I was never called back and got a bill for 239.00 dollars. The funny thing is they didn't run or use my insurance, also the bill was for someone that is not me and I don't know who it is. Would not go back or refer anyone.
Amber Monroe: Took my husband here the day after going to the ER for a corneal abrasion to get a second opinion and hopefully better medicine for his discomfort. All staff here were absolutely amazing in addition to being comforting and humorous. They took his situations seriously with the upmost caution and direction toward preventative healing. I was so glad we ended up coming here when he was still having so much discomfort after the ER visit.

Laurie: Wow wow wow!! I was very impressed at the care at this facility. My sister sees Dr. Tauber for dry eye and I have been looking for a new dermatologist since I can no longer go to my specialist at Children's Mercy. I tried Discover Vision multiple times and really wasn't impressed. Since I have gotten older I realized how scary it can be if you don't know if you have a problem or not! In Discover Vision they didn't listen to my concerns and ignored my problems. I liked my old opthamologist because I knew she cared enough to see if there was any problems (which makes you feel good because sight is important!) I couldn't make an appointment with Dr. Tauber, but was able to get one with Dr. Remmington. WOW! Best eye doctor EVER! I thought my last eye doctor was thorough... Goodness! I was there for about TWO HOURS and not because they were slow!!! They wanted to make sure they knew everything they could to help me and they answered every question I asked. Dr. Remmington is the kind of doctor everyone wants, she is kind, empathetic, a good listener, great explainer and KNOWLEDGABLE! She doesn't papoo anything you say, GREAT eye doctor!!Thanks again!

Robyn Jackson: I've suffered from dry eye for many years. I went to several doctors over the years with limited success. But finally my eyes were suffering so much that they were tearing up constantly. Another doctor suggested I needed surgery to open my drainage ducts. I didn't buy it. After lots of internet research and trolling dry eye bulletin boards, I suspected I suffered from meibomian gland dysfunction. I found Dr Tauber because his web site actually had information about dry eyes. He confirmed that I indeed have meibomian gland dysfunction and after several treatments of him "popping" open the meibomian glands along my eyelids, I finally stopped the constant crying. My eyelids look normal again rather than super thick and irritated. I'll be dealing with this issue for life, but with regular treatment at home and from Dr Tauber, my eyes feel good again.

Their appraisal was honest and I left assured that I was in good hands.A year after my surgeries, I am assured that my vision is perfect even though I have to use a magnifying glass to read. I have had two different prescriptions made for computer glasses and neither has helped. If I had it to do over again, I would not have the surgery, a least not here. I spent a lot of money to still have trouble seeing.

Don Browning: I've been using Sabates Eye Care for several years for my annual diabetic eye exam. I've never been disappointed with the service at the NW Barry Road location even though they run a large number of patients through there like cattle through a meat market. I had an appointment for this morning that I made a year ago and confirmed last week. Less than an hour before my appointment I received a text message that my appointment needed to be rescheduled. When I called them the soonest I could get an appointment was late October. The reason they canceled my appointment today was the doctor was out on Maternity leave. It seems to me that they would have known a lot sooner than 1 hour before my appointment that they would need to reschedule me and they would make accomedations to get me rescheduled sooner than someone making a new appointment. I asked to speak to someone to file a formal complaint and got switched to a voicemail. I'm still waiting for a call back. I will not use them again.

I have been very happy with all of the doctors at Sabates who all have taken very good care of my eyesight. I am forever grateful.

Lindsey Hughes: Horrible service. Horrible attention to detail, waited an hour and a half for my appointment and they forgot to call in my prescription. Last time I went in they called in a prescription that was unsafe for breastfeeding mothers. Thankfully I was able to double check with my pharmacist and it took about 3 hours for me to reconnect with them to call in the right antibiotic. Have been super disappointed with this practice all around.

It's a pleasure to come to this office.A side note: this was a very different experience from the one I had in November in the Oletha office. It was like night and day. The office was large, crowded, and I felt like I was a number. The personal service I was used to in Leawood wasn't offered. I'll only go to Leawood from now on.

Jeff Gaeth: I am shouting this from the mountain tops - Grin Eye Care and the staff are fantastic. I had Lasik surgery 4 years ago at Grin Eye Care. I have not had any problems and didn't think I needed to go back to an eye doctor. My wife said eye health is important at my age and schedule me an appointment with Dr. Gerson. The staff was friendly and professional. Dr. Gerson listened and asked questions and had an interest in my eye health. I strongly recommend them for all your eye needs.
Amy Campbell: My 4 year old son was referred by his pediatrician for an eye exam. The assistant (Madison) and Dr. McGowan were fantastic with him. They made sure to make him feel comfortable with all the machines and tests and explain everything in a kid-friendly way. Dr. McGowan was very knowledgeable in explaining his vision needs and our options for correction. At our follow up visit he was nervous about getting his eyes dilated again and they spent the time to calm him down and comfort him. He ended up leaving in great spirits and said he can’t wait to go back again!

I drove a ways out there, to get an estimate and their system was down. Don't bother calling because they don't answer the phone. They'll eventually call you back. I tried to email an employee to get pricing since their system was down and she just seemed annoyed that I was inquiring. She told me to come in and I explained that I was and their system was down. You know how annoyed and bothered you feel when you're at home having dinner and a telemarketer calls? That's how the employees act.If this place wasn't the only business around here to have these frames, I'd never be back. If you're that disgruntled, get a different job!

Lindsay Perez: I carry vision insurance. I got a routine eye exam and they never submitted a claim to my eye insurance. They billed me full price. I called the billing office and gave them my insurance info. They still never submitted a claim and sent the bill to collections.
Julie Skivers: The least time I have ever spent here for an appointment is 2 hours. The last time was just over 3 1/2 hours! Their system sucks! With chronic back problems, by the time I left my back hurt so much because of sitting in a chair that long. When I got my appointment notice text, I cancelled through the system, but now I got another reminder... System obviously doesn't work. I called and sat on hold for 15.38 minutes wanting to cancel! Going for a new clinic.

S Kraven: Unprofessional staff in the optical shop at this location.I had to use this location to order my glasses as the Independence location didn't accept my insurance.They make you jump through hoops and talk you up on stuff you don't need, and the glasses come back blurry anyway.I had to go in for a recheck because the glasses were so blurry and giving me headaches. They had to put me in another room because the equipment that you look through to say 1 or 2 was so scratched up that I couldn't even see through it. Unfortunately I wasn't the only one there for a recheck, not to mention you could hear them on the phone with others needing to schedule for rechecks. The machines are severely outdated according to the optometrist that I seen, who did apologize. Seems like they need to get that situated before they start scheduling a ton of people. The wait in the waiting room for over an hour past your scheduled appointment time is pretty ridiculous.
Teresa: I went in with sudden blurriness in one eye. They did an exam and said they could correct it with glasses. Two weeks later, I get the glasses and they didnt help. Now no one at the eye center will answer the phone. Complete failure to help me and zero customer service.
lady Lacy: This is a great set up. The Truman Eye clinic is connected and can deal with high risk eye issues.The store itself is well organized and has a great selection, and the staff are amazing.

Donnedra Davis: Brought my mom to this place had a appointment at 2:00 pm. Did not see the doctors until 4:45 pm. This was our 3rd appointment each time the waiting time is 2 or more hours. U better bring your lunch because u will be just sitting and waiting. After the 3rd appointment they still didn't do anything for my mother eyes. We will never come back.

Erika: Previous employee of this location and I would just like to share some insight for anyone who is considering accepting a job offer here.I worked at Sabates for 3 months and quit voluntarily because I was very unhappy. The job itself is not bad, there are some challenges, the biggest one being the people that you work with. The environment is very negative and tense, if you make a mistake you WILL be belittled about it and it will be broadcasted to all of staff when you're not around. Management is also below par when it comes to professionalism and addressing issues/concerns presented to them. Policies will only be enforced if you are a new hire as everyone else gets the leniency to do as they please with little to no repercussions. Overall, I do not recommend anyone to work here unless you enjoy waking up & dreading having to go to work. The only upside is getting the benefit of a free eye exam every year after you've worked 90-days.
Gretchen Long: Waited 2 hours and 40 minutes to see a Physician. As a medical professional this is unacceptable. My time is as as well valuable. This was like a herding of people.
