Jason Wilhelmsen: The menu consists only of a few snacks that require either no cooking or heating up in a microwave. Cocktails were low quality despite the Vegas price points. Ordered the same one twice and it came out completely different. “Dining Experience” is a misleading name if you only serve dips, crackers and a few desserts. The view is nice.

The only difference in what we ordered and our friends meal was dessert and one bottle of wine. Contacted the restaurant manager. He seemed disinterested for the most part. Did not feel he valued our patronage or option. Disappointed.

Donna Sloan: Service was just OK. My main course came out cold and needed to be sent back. The other entree was warm but my friend chose not to send it back. When the manager asked how our meal was and I told him about it, he blamed us, stating the server brought it out but saw we were still eating our salad, so took it back. I fail to see how that warrants serving a cold dinner. I responded “you asked, so I told you”. He apologized and walked away to chit chat with the hostess. This restaurant has some work to do before I spend another $140 for dinner.
Jim Williams: Very nice dining experience with (expected) limited menu but eclectic, delicious choices. The service was first rate without being fussy and recommendations were knowledgeable. We will definitely return.
CeeLee Atsch: Artistic food, beautifully served. Service is just ok. Allow plenty of time to enjoy the prix fixe menu as the pacing is deliberately slow. Could stand to add one or two items to the small plates offerings or else be sure to have plenty on hand. With a few tweaks this could be a truly standout experience. You can't beat the convenience of you've got tickets at the Kaufman Center.

Megan Anderson: One of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City! If you are a foodie as we are, you will certainly find dishes unlike anything you have had before. We leave every time excited about numerous dishes and trying things we never would have considered. For example, SWEETBREADS, they make them absolutely divine. I love that everyday we walk through the doors that the menu is brand new and inventive! We love sitting at the bar near the kitchen so we can watch everyone channel their creative skills. A must try!

The dishes are seasonal, so you may not get something you had before. We ordered one of everything and split it. They put their touch on every dish, and it is delicious. Sharing the small (delicious) dishes among 4 people definitely left us wanting more, but by the end of the last course I was full. Not overstuffed, not too full to walk, but satisfied, which I very much prefer. I loved it, but if I were to go back, I would probably stick with a party of 2 instead of 4.

I had just returned to town and was eager to relax in a comfortable atmosphere. Settling at the bar with a delightful glass of wine, I perused the seasonal menu with anticipation.My meal began with the irresistible Nori Shokupan, a must-have staple whenever I spot it on the menu. I continued with the Romanesco dish, featuring golden hummus, anchovy brown butter, crispy chickpeas, and anchovies. This flavorful dish showcased fresh, delectable vegetables. Another standout was the Cucumber dish with smoked salmavocado, tahini sauce, and buckwheat lavosh in a rose vinaigrette. This simple, refreshing dish was beautifully balanced by the vinaigrette.Next, I savored the Pan-Roasted Veal Sweetbreads, accompanied by beef tallow whipped potatoes, endive, white wine mustard sauce, croutons, capers, and rosemary. This hearty, comforting dish was a delight. I also enjoyed the Seared Duck Breast, served with fried sunchokes, local spinach, ravigote, and umeaboshi plum jus. The duck was cooked to perfection, and the sweet umeaboshi plum jus perfectly complemented the dish.To conclude my meal, I couldn't resist the Coconut Panna Cotta with pandan ice cream, mango sauce, and caramel tuille. This light, refreshing dessert, reminiscent of spring, provided the ideal ending to my dining experience.
Warda Shafi: I always prefer better quality food in small plates over mediocre food piled on the plates. I had the haddock with bok choy, sushi rice, caviar, and mushrooms. The dish was a little soupy, always a plus for me since I'm a huge soup fan. The food was delicious and looked wonderful, and I could tell the ingredients were of high quality, always a delight. This was a hearty meal, all the while very light on the stomach.

cristina osorio: Went here yesterday, 06/11/23, with a reservation. They refused to seat us because one person in our party was next door getting coffee beans. They proceeded to seat 3 walk in groups ahead of us even after our missing member returned.Once seated, we were ignored for 37 minutes. The entire place was packed, with no sound absorbing efforts, so it was groups of people at every table just yelling the entire time. I stopped a different waitress to put our order in because we were about to walk out and find someplace else to eat. She said she couldn't take our order because the kitchen was too busy. There should never be more chairs in the facility than the capacity of the kitchen so that problem should never even happen!It took 32 mins after our order was placed before the food came out. We spent 75 mins in total in there at the table with no food. The food came out over cooked and bland. The potato bowl is literally onions and potatoes. Nothing else. The salmon Benedict came out with completely rock hard eggs and raw cold bread. The salmon was random small flakes and mostly skin. There were issues with every dish and my party left roughly half their food on their plates. The waitress never asked how the food was and just dropped the bill on while walking by.Never go here.

Hannah Uthe: Went here for a meal after family photos on a Saturday evening. I had never been here before and it looked like the perfect spot with many different options to take my family. The best part about out experience here was the appetizers. The cheese curds and catfish bites were good. Our server was nice but did not check on us enough. We had to ask another staff member for more water and this place only has maybe 20 tables. Every entree we received had little to no flavor. The potatoes are not seasoned, the nettle pasta has more chunks of onion than pasta in the dish, and their burger buns are somehow soggy and crumbly at the same time. It definitely was not worth the money. With all the other great restaurants on the westside, I will not be back here.

It was a Monday night and we didn’t have a reservation, so the host sat us up at the bar. Really not even worth mentioning except it was at the very end right next to the service well so it was a little distracting at times. The menu is New American/Italian/Asian fusion. We took recommendations from our server who may have been the floor manager. She helped us navigate the menu and we ended up ordering seaweed doughnut and crispy pork ribs to start. The seaweed doughnuts were decadent, think savory beignets with hint of seaweed smeared with a trout roe crema. The flavors of the crispy pork ribs heavily reminded me of a Vietnamese dish, bun cha. Next we had spicy strozzapretti and XO fried rice. The strozzapretti definitely stole the show, both of our favorite for the night. So much so we ordered a second. We still had a little room after so we asked for another suggestion and landed on the mushroom burger. It wasn’t a patty like I had expected, but more akin to a mushroom sloppy joe. That being said it did not disappoint the taste buds. Needless to say I’ll be back with the wife and friends in tow so I can try more phenomenal offerings from this menu.

There is one table directly behind a beam with nearly total obstructed viewing. Of course, that's where we were seated. I was so excited to try a good, albeit expensive, place and enjoy a show. I had reservations and everything. I couldn't enjoy the show I came to see. There was no forewarning or acknowledgement of the situation. And the picture is a small bouquet I paid for 75 plus service fee and taxes. This place is way over priced. And the girl server give me a feeling that she doesn’t even want to serve our table even they charged 100 service fees. Final bill is $620 for two ppl not worth it at all. Patrick Walker: A nice, updated take on the typical schnitzel and sausage fare you typically find in German restaurants. The brat trio was delicately flavored and nicely sauced. Preferable to the seafood risotto dish, which was competently executed, but nothing beyond what you’d find in another good local restaurant. The Painted Table dessert was remarkable in sweet flavors and in flame-illuminated presentation. Truly unique.

Brit Ann: Truly a treat to go to Affare. You definitely don't get the chain vibe from this place that even some of the more high end places give off around KC which is nice. Service was amazing and the food was great. High quality ingredients with mixtures of flavors that you don't expect and they still somehow taste amazing together. We got the Hummer Poutine, Risotto von Meeresfruchten, and Jakobsmuscheln mit Entenleber. It all was so good - loved the seafood. I'd probably go for a lighter starter next time but we were curious about lobster poutine.

Woodsie Woods: First time and it was great. Ordered off their new seasonal “white asparagus” menu. The white asparagus soup had a nice deep flavor but was a tad too salty. I was very excited to see morel mushrooms on the menu with the white asparagus and morel mushroom spatzle. This dish had a nice sherry cream sauce, however it overpowered the delicate flavor of the morel mushrooms. Overall pleased with the quality, especially with these recipes being a fairly new addition.
Racheal Soendker: Truly one of the best restaurants in KC. Make a reservation to ensure you can be seated. Especially on the weekends. This is not a place to go if you are I'm a rush. They know how to time the dishes so you are sure to be finished with appetizers before the next course is brought out. They give you time to enjoy each course. If you choose to do a bottle of wine, the server is good about coming back to pour it timely. And the food is amazing. If you can, make sure you get there in the spring for the white asparagus menu. I've been there multiple times and have never been disappointed.

Shiona Deliozar: The service was excellent and the staff was really awesome and attentive. We thought the tasting menu itself was pretty average for the price. Everything tasted fresh but kind of lackluster, especially the apps and dessert and the Black Forest cake didn’t really have the layer of cherries like it’s supposed to. Still happy to try the place out with my hubby for my birthday dinner. We spent around $150 and left very full and satisfied.

Eunice P: The tartar was very yummy though a bit too salty. The veal schnitzel was dry, overdone, and a bit bland and the condiments and cucumber salad too sour. The beef roulade was like fancy meat loaf and tasted okay. The cabbage was delicious, but, again, a bit on the sour side considering it took up the majority of the plate. The drinks, vibe, and service were fantastic. I would have rated this a 4/5 but one of our party had stomach issues after eating the beef roulade and cabbage. I may give this place another try, but probably not for a while.
