Parkville Nature Sanctuary: what do users think?
Matthew Vanberg: Great hiking trails, not far from home!
Angelique Hunold: Great nature trail
Marci Useche: Beautiful and wonderful trails to follow
Wayne Frazier: Great place to bring your family.Dog-friendliness: No pets are allowed. 4 other parks within 10 minutes drive that do allow pets.
Ariadne Flores: The sanctuary trails are beautiful, but am knocking a star as the only animals seen were squirrels. There aren't always maps available, so be sure and take a picture of the trail maps posted by the entrance. We got a bit lost, but if you follow a trail you'll find yourself back at the end in no time. Recommend bug spray!! We left with 3 ticks on us by the time we left.Dog-friendliness: No dogs allowed on the trailsPicnic area: By the entrance there are tables set up where you could have a picnic
Traci Meeds: Lovely walk. Could be better marked, as we found ourselves off the main path a couple of times, but easy enough to find our way. No dogs allowed.
Michael Braasch: Nice area. Trails are well maintained. Not much parking. No dogs allowed.Picnic area: New planks on picnic tables.
Tim Randell: Looked at the limited information available about the park, thought it would be a good place to pack a lunch and hike for the day. Decided to bring our puppy with us, drove 30 minutes there to realize they don't allow dogs. It would be helpful if they could mention a little more in their information.
Shelby Inmon: Amazing trails if you go off trail it can be fun hiking as well
r zellmer: Great hike and not too far from home. Had never been there before.
Adam McRill: Wonderfully maintained. A great place for novice trail walkers and bird watching.
L P: beautiful nature sanctuary, the trails are easy so it's great for kids. be sure to check out the little waterfall!
Heather Tharp: No dogs allowed! I'm just telling who ever might wNt to dri e all the way to walk dog!
Robert Walding: Beautiful! Great trail for short walks! Even has longer trails!!
Cindy Lou: I saw a review of somebody wanting to see more wildlife, unfortunately so many things will prevent that. Runners because that alerts wildlife to hide or run away and lots of children who play , scream and run. It’s still a delight and the birds are high in the trees singing joyfully. Today there were lots of children enjoying the sanctuary, I’m positive no one saw deer, wild turkey, box turtles .
Redthekat: Amazing nature area with a bunch of waterfalls and amazing sights!
frankie alexandra: It's a great park and trail but very private. Walk with someone whom you feel safe and protected by. My children and I wanted to take a walk here, and there was a man standing in the corner staring at us getting out of our car. He looked like he was waiting to approach us. Once i got back into the car , i waited to see what he would do. It looked like he was waiting to approach anyone getting out of their car. He was dressed all in black with a hat waiting next to a white van. Had a really bad feeling. Gotta listen to those motherly instincts always.
Amelia Mendus: Favorite places of all time
Tony P: Very cool spot to explore!
Ryan Garnett: Very well maintained trails and diverse habitat
Jeanette Weiser: Absolutely loved it. Improved trails throughout. Lots of rest spots peppered through the park. Free dawn to dusk. Saw folks out with kiddos exploring nature. I took the White Tail and Old Kate trails. Very few humans out there to interfere with my tranquility.

Jake Phillips: Visited KC from the UK, and decided to visit here for a couple of hours. Its a lovely little nature centre. A nice little selection of animals on show. With all the learning materials on offer I felt like it was more aimed towards children and school visits. The walks around the centre were lovely, especially on the sunny day we picked to visit. All the animals looked well look after.

Very peaceful inside with fun activities and a very cozy area for the kids to sit by the windows, see the animals outside, and do activities. There's a conference room, and a very nice covered BBQ patio. We especially enjoyed the nature hike! I found it easier going and more open than the Cave Springs hiking trail 😅... With all the rock formations it makes for a very interesting walk about.I highly recommend going to explore this wonderful site, it's FREE! Go get in those steps! 💥

Rozarks Nature Trail: what do users think?
Danielle Wong: This was a really nice natural trail. It is not super maintained, but in most places the path is clear. It is shaded and the terrain is varied. There were a few spots where the trails ended abruptly or we ended up on trails that weren’t on the map, which led to a longer hike than expected, but overall it was very nice.
Matthew Vanberg: Pretty good trail for downtown KC
Jamie: Trail isn’t well marked. The official trail map shows a break in between these trails and the ones closer to Fisher Park but there’s not a clear distinction on the trails so I was concerned I may have been trespassing. This trail was a little too urban for me, it was not comforting to see junk like abandoned mattress and rusted pipes along the trail, as well as litter and pieces of broken glass throughout. I did see an owl which was super cool!!!
Jackie Kendall: Not well marked, I had to pull the map up online a few times to check where I was. At the end, you either come back on same trails or walk down the road, which is what I did. Took about an hour to do all of it. You can hear cars and you are near houses at some points.
Buster Fix: Awesome place
Jeffery Wells: Pleasant trail and nice that volunteers are keeping it up. Shame that there is so much trash and glass on the trail.
Weaver L Forest: Nice sunset
cameron chase: Beautiful views at sunrise. Super safe hike.
Trista Gorrell: The best view of the best city."And I keep singing the same old song - I'm going back to Kansas City" (Look up that song if you wanna hear magic. Kansas City by Marcus Mumford and Bob Dylan. "The New Basement Tapes")
Randy K: Beautiful oasis in the middle of town. Looking forward to going back in the Spring.
Kati Perik: Surprisingly lovely trails
Mist Passiert: The trails are very rough, so be sure you have the right shoes! It's not a lazy stroll in the park. There is very little signage, so you will want to have GPS or Google maps handy in case you get turned around. On a nice day, it's a very relaxing place for a walk!
Leslie Cimino: A hidden gem in KC. Cool trails and great views of downtown.
Ashlee Kriegel-Newburn: The trail itself is really interesting and a great hike but the abundance of discarded tires and broken glass take away from the natural beauty of the trail. Its a pity because it could be a really amazing little hiking spot on the edge of the city. I gave it three stars just because I loved that there were so many little mini routes that you could take.
Jeremy Jahn: It's a nice trail area, but just fyi the paths can be very narrow and steep at times. Also a lot of bugs, so be sure to wear bug spray 😀
Carrie Nicole: Nice small trail within the city. Good City view. Nice memorial.
K. S. (WannaBGourmande): What a fantastic trail! So this is clearly a hiking trail but a lot of folks seem to use it for mountain biking. There's even a trail loop down near the bottom of the hill for mountain biking/parkour. I had such a great time there with my friend! I will absolutely be back. To say that I'm embarrassed that I didn't know about this park until just yesterday is an understatement!
Bill H: Awful mountain bike trail. Very little maintenance. Half the trail no longer exists due to construction. So many better choices
SJ Anderson: It had a nice view but tons of garbage near the memorial - I was afraid I might find a used syringe and glad I didn’t. Looks like a someone decided to have an ad lib campfire near the memorial as well. Woods around were scary too and (from a female perspective dangerous). Busy roads surrounding the park. The trails were unkempt and trash strewn around the trails. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY.
Erin Myers: Quiet
Darin Shreves: A small but fun network of trails tucked into a city neighborhood.

Adrianna Sgc: Beautiful place. Don’t get confused, the building AND the trails close at 5. Too bad the worker there yesterday was rude, he should find a new job. He was waiting for us and mumbled loudly “another dumbass” as another car drove in while we were walking up to the entrance because he honked at us. And when we got to him instead of politely telling us the whole place was closed (which wasn’t because we drove through and no gates were closed at 515) he told us hostilely “you ready to go home”. Maybe he was having a bad day but that just puts a bad taste in your mouth of whoever runs this place.
Tim Reneau: The trails here are absolutely fantastic. They're very well maintained and seem well thoughtout. Lots of really nice scenes to take in.
David Boyea: Needs a little TLC but very nice otherwise. Can we fish here? Catch and releaseI saw the reply and really appreciate it! When I ask if we can fish, I mean can we fish in Rush Creek?
Jon D Barnett: Great trails. Interesting visitor center. I green respite in the middle of the city.
Antony J: Good trails and nice visitor center.Thankfully no dogs.Local government should fund this place.
Melissa Hill: Mr. Sandy was great! Very informative and have a lot of info about the ecosystems here. Also gave me some deet for my boots!
Chris Adams: Wonderful hiking trails. The kids love playing in the creek.
opal fields: A true sanctuary, very peaceful. A lovely nature center with a nice gift shop and live animal exhibits. Also educational. The tall grass section is alive with beautiful prairie flowers. A great place to visit.
Tabitha Cosper: I’ve always loved the Nature Sanctuary when visiting it in the past, but had an even more fun time a couple weeks ago when we had my daughter’s 6th birthday party out there! Mr. Sandy made sure that our group had a wonderfully entertaining experience!! We started out with a fun, educational and interactive learning session about birds before heading to observe some birds in their natural habitat. After that each kid made a bird feeder and then went out for a walk on the trails. We had Mr. Sandy’s knowledge and love of nature for over and hour before doing cake and gifts. This was such a fun and reasonably priced party idea, plus the money spent goes back to a very important cause…the continued support of such sacred spaces in nature. We cannot thank Mr. Sandy and MLTNS enough for the memories!!
Amanda Payton: Loved our exploration of this nature sanctuary! There is a fun exhibit with multiple animals and the staff are super friendly & informative. They went out of their way to help point out plants for our butterfly garden we are building and told us about the trails and wildlife that frequents the area. The trail to the creek was our favorite. We will definitely be back.
Jackson Burlison: Sanctuary, beautiful. The owner or person always working harassed me and my wife multiple times for donations in a confrontational way. Weird vibes. They stopped taking care of trails, benches, signs, ect. I make 25k a year. Maybe get a sponsor out of hundreds of local businesses! Now it closes at sundown? This place makes no sense and hard to relax with the owner following everyone around. Sad, I grew up going here and it's very special to me, realized today we haven't been in a whole year.
Adrianne Hubbard: We love their trails. The center usually has fun educational activities and nature themed gift store. Staff is knowledgeable about local wildlife and vegetation.
Kayla Casteel: Heads up, this place isn’t dog friendly at all (typical of sanctuaries) but can’t even leave them in the car when the weather is nice. We’re from out of town so we couldn’t enjoy the sanctuary because we had our dog.
Colt Adams: Nice short trails, needs some tlc but we had a great time reading the educational posts around the trail.
Elizabeth Elizabeth Ann Mckie: Love to go there. Interesting no matter the weather
Moshe Messer: The Halloween activity was so much fun and really beautiful
Catherine Tabor: This is the perfect place for hiking, photos, and so much more! Kids absolutely love it!
Nate Cox: Disagree the staff was extremely rude but the place is nice.

The Letter H: This is my happy place. Looking at the sun beaming through the leaves on the trees as the wind sways them is perhaps the closest you'll get to complete peace. Paths are unpaved, so you get to choose your own adventure. Hiking here with friends is a must-do. Its at its most beautiful during spring, summer, or fall. If you want that black metal album cover experience it looks pretty cool in the winter. Make sure you've got a knife, proper hydration, bug repellant (there's a lot of spiders and such), and sunscreen. There are water areas, make sure not to fall in. There are leeches and other nasty stuff in that water. Very fun for kids, and pets love it. I've been coming to this place for years whenever I felt really down. I always felt better after visiting.
Cameron Robles: Great trails. Enclosed wooded hiking area in suburban neighborhood. Varying trail loops that interconnect. Hills. Great in the winter, very little wind.
Erin: Another favorite hiking spot. Absolutely gorgeous and into the woods which is my preference.
Angelica Mattingly: Peaceful
Zachary McNeil: Beautiful fall afternoon, and quiet trails for some family time. Trail markings are mostly faded, but there is no difficulty in following the loop trail. Emilie Clark: This is such a great, short trail in the city. Makes you feel like you’re out away from civilization for a few minutes while you walk through the woods. Cave Spring Park: what do users think?
Andrea Ingram: I noticed dog owners with their dogs off-leash. No way I'm getting out of my car. I gave the dog owner the evil eye but she didn't care. I guess we need security everywhere. 🤷Dog-friendliness: Too dog friendly for me with irresponsible dog owners allowed their dogs off-leash.
Jessica Martinez: Little cave. Nice hike. The trail markers are a bit confusing.Restrooms: Porta JohnDog-friendliness: Dogs welcome, but they must be on leashes.
Kieren “Kie” Hall: I love visiting Cave Spring Park. The trails are fun for nature hiking. The chimneys are an interesting bit of history from the Settler's days. On this visit we found The Tree. It is a sight to behold. It had a bunch of blue striped lizards on it that were really interesting. Skinks maybe? Every visit you'll see something new! At the entrance there is a little lending library where you can leave a book and take a book if you wish. We have plans to come back with some books to share. Definitely come on out and stretch your legs here and bring the kids.

Mat Nguyen: Fun to walk and explore. Dogs had a great time too, watch out for ticks!
Tangy Gleets: Fun little place! Smaller than I expected, but pretty neat to check out. I would bet it gets very spider-y later in the year, as I hate walking through webs between limbs and trees. For sure, a place to wear out some children.

Molly Gillespie: I've been coming here since I was a kid excellent place to hike with the kiddos
Charlene Carnes: Amazing trails with creeks and old settlement ruins. Great place to take the kids and explore...loads of magical lil gems to find 🤩
Joplin Outdoors: Very cool history rich park. There are probably too many side trails that lead to the same spots. Overall, it's a must visit at least once.
