Gracie Humaita Jiu-Jitsu Kansas City - MMA Training - Judo - Wrestling: what do users think?
Super Nintentuk: Used to go here great teachers and builds up nice teamwork skills
Ellen Montgomery: My son is in the younger kids for Jiu-Jitsu… and I couldn’t be happier!!! Everyone is GREAT! My son is 5 and everyone has such patience to catch him up to speed! Carlos is amazing! My sons brags about his teacher all the time! He looks forward to it being Wednesday every single day! This place is so personable and very organized. You will not regret your decision on coming here! Amazing!!!
Zac Clark: I started training in September of 22. It's been about 7 months and the amount of balance and happiness I've derived from attending classes on a consistent basis was quite surprising. Feels like I've actually found a purpose in life. All the coaches are kind and intuitive and every student I've met has been a delight. I'm not gonna stop coming anytime soon and I strongly recommend GHKC for your combat sport ambitions. If you know you have grit and a non-quit mindset and you enjoy pushing yourself to new levels then this is the place for you.
Caleb Garbuio: I was visiting KC and the students and teachers went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and included. The training is excellent and helped me prepare for a tournament that weekend. Could not recommend more!
Rob Lowe: 1 Million Stars!! 2 Kids in the Kids Program, My Daughter Started about a month ago and loves it. My son has been coming for about 9 Months and just received his first stripe!!! This has become much more than a "sport" or "activity" for them to get into, it truly is a real family! I feel like I owe all the coaches, especially Coach Anthony and definitely Coach Carlos, the biggest Thank You possible for not only giving my kids confidence and skills for life but also life lessons that will last forever!!
Ryan Adams: Dropped in while visiting from out of town. Very friendly crew and great instruction. I definitely learned a thing or two and felt very welcome
Kord Guess: I’ve attended many different schools throughout the country for drop in classes and intro classes, and this one is the best i’ve been to. it’s chill, welcoming, and when i was going through financial problems i was always told “don’t worry just come to class”. they genuinely believe and teach that as long as you come to class not only will you get better you’ll improve your life outside the gym, and you’ll bring that back to the gym. Can’t wait to move back and get the kids back in. They don’t want your money, they need it to keep the business running, but they really want you to be a functioning member of the family.
Mark Crawford: They genuinely treat everyone like family. Large classes and the instructor still knows every child's name. Very accepting and will work with the kids and give a positive tough love feel which kids need. Can't say enough positive things about this school.
Cody Bratton: I’ve been training at GHKC for over a year now and love it. It has the best community where new white belts are supported and the instruction from black belts is outstanding, as is the teaching from brown, purple, and blue belts as well.I’ve made great friends and learned to love the journey. There’s lots of availability for classes in gi and no gi, and opportunities to roll after every session. The ownership is constantly renovating to improve the facility.GHKC is also very balanced between self-defense and competition philosophies. Everyone is welcome. Sign up for the onboarding if you’re new for a great intro to Jiu Jitsu. It’s the best stress management I’ve found, and well worth the investment.
Nate: We are in the program designed around younger kids and kids new to Jiu-Jitsu and we couldn’t be happier. They allow you to come in and experience some classes before you commit to ensure it’s the right place for your child. My son was so scared the first lesson and Sunny(one of the instructors) engaged him and got him on the mat and the next thing you know he’s all in. Carlos does a great job teaching the kids, he also is great with the newer students . It feels more like a community versus just a class. Very much like a community. I would recommend them to anyone and frankly I trust them with my children so that shows how good they really are.
Ryan Trinder: I travel to KC about twice a year, and when visiting I always catch a class at Gracie Humaita. Every class I attend, I am amazed at the teaching, the students, and the skill they all have. The white belts are learning techniques I've never covered at the bjj gym I attend in NYC.Excellent people here, willing to work with you on developing and improving your bjj skills. Go!
Mission Mike (Michael Kilmartin): So my wife and I travel a bunch for mission work, and I love to train as we go. That being said, I’ve probably visited over 200+ mma and bjj academies, and I had to stop and take a moment to shout out this academy! Gracie Humaita Kansas City is on another leve!! Professor Graeber is UNBELIEVABLE!! He is an INCREDIBLE instructor, and his passion for teaching is amazing! His students are super talented, and his level of detail on techniques makes it so easy to learn. And from the moment I walked in, he treated me like family. I cannot recommend this academy enough, and I cannot recommend visiting this place enough! Check them out for yourself! Whether brand new, or a veteran to the game, you WILL LEARN something new, while feeling right at home! :)
Brandon Jenkins: Great place to train whether you're looking for a home gym or you're traveling. 3 black belt instructors. Traditional yet up to date with the modern sport.
Vargas Lisa: Gracie Humaita has the most family atmosphere. Everyone is greeted with love when they enter and is instantly treated like family. Kids class is top notch. Carlos is disciplined for sure, but loves every kid individually and they love and respect him back. ❤ Highly recommend.
Jeremy Clark: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat atmosphere, great instruction.
Brew 167: Positive:QualityEveryone I’ve encountered has been respectful and friendly. The instructors are thorough and knowledgeable at every training session. A wonderful community.
Anthony Caracci: Best in KC! Two children in the kids program and couldn’t be happier with our experience.
Aaron Drew: I had the pleasure of dropping in for a class while travelling to KC for work. Everyone was super welcoming. Carlos ran a great class with fun warmups, good drilling and solid techniques. I only had time to stick around for a couple of rolls, but the atmosphere was friendly and the top pressure was heavy (just how it should be!) Thanks guys and I can't wait to stop by next time I'm in town.
lizzy Carpenter: This is the best place in Kansas City for Jiu-Jitsu.
Jayne Zamora: Instructor really cares & you're treated like family.
Colton Crawford: I stopped by the gym over two years ago and just stopped in again today. Mike remembered me by name, and welcomed me back with open arms. Awesome laid-back atmosphere, very visitor-friendly. I can't wait until my next stop in KC!

Low Kick Camp: what do users think?
John Carlisle: Coah Carroll is very patient, hands on and and an all-around good person with your needs in mind.
Laura Robles: I took a training class from Coach Bryan last year for my armed guard card requirements and fell in love with the gym and learned more self-defense techniques in two classes than I’ve ever learned from anyone. Around the same time I completed my class, my oldest son was trying to teach himself the basics of Muay Thai. When he turned 18 last year I reached out to sign him up for formal training at Low Kick and finally had the opportunity to take him to his first class. As I suspected, he fell in love with the gym, the other students and the coaches. When he got back into the car after class (dripping sweat and stinky) he was grinning ear to ear and he screamed: I LOVE IT. I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.”I am so excited to see him get started on his training journey (and hopefully competition, someday) and am grateful to everyone at the gym. Thank you, to all the coaches and to Coach Bryan, for the warm welcome and the honest feedback he received about what he’s taught himself so far. I was worried being watched and receiving feedback would change how he felt about the sport and it has been the complete opposite: he’s even more committed to learning/training and being an excellent addition to the team.
Joshua Harris: Coach Brian is one of the best coaches I have ever worked with. Words cannot express how much I recommend him. If a friend says they want to learn self defense I advise them to go here.
Ethan MB: Just finished my first class, which was completely free. These guys do a great job at making you feel at home and making sure you get the attention you need to succeed. I’ll definitely be back!
toxicrayons12: Very welcoming everyone is like family the training is great
Lion-O J'Onzz: My first experience was great the atmosphere and relaxed wouldn't mind coming back for more training if my health permits. 👍
Brissa Gallegos: I have nothing but great things to say about this gym. The coaches go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, from beginners to pro fighters! I walked in with zero martial arts experience and trained for almost 11 months at this gym and I miss it every single day! Check it out, you won’t regret it!
Jay M: Great gym! Very humble coach that teaches incredible basics all the way to advanced. He's a professional fighter that is very humble. Awesome setting for a gym and a true good workout. Great place to meet friends as well.
Adam Leftwich: This is the absolute best gym I've ever walked into. They are a welcoming and kind group of people who practice a very traditional and authentic style of muay thai. The coaches and fellow students were fantastic.
Rebecca Foright: The best people, gym and coaches in Kansas City teaching the sport the right way. Doesn’t matter how much training you've had or whether you’re brand new to Muay Thai. Great workout every time in a welcoming environment with super talented people.
Phylicia Phillips: Best Muay Thai gym in the state. From the people, coaches and training...everything is genuine!! Love my low kick family!!
Charlie Threatt: Bryan is the man with the plan. I've been doing martial arts for 13 years now and I tell you what he's one of the best fight coaches I've ever had. He's authentic and understanding just like A coach should be. Been training at Low Kick since August 2020 and I can already tell my fighting skills have improved A great deal and it's all thanks to Bryan and everything he does. I HIGHLY recommend Low Kick.
Iasha King: Great gym and coaches. Great place to learn real Muay Thai with a good range of beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. First class you can try out free so no pressure to try it out
Noah Perales: Since day one, it's a very welcoming gym! The coaches truly teach you Muay Thai and the art behind it. Friendly and positive vibes with everyone makes it comforting and knowing that you have the best coaches to teach you!
Alex Jones: Simply the best. The day you walk in you feel like family, but the environment isn’t even the best part. Come prepared for the very best technique and training.
Niq: Just go.
Fink Michelson: Another great family/inclusive vibe type gym. I was a total stranger who just showed up one day for one class. I left feeling like a regular and took a good beat down during sparring. Check the dope website for class details and schedules. Brian was very accommodating and the group welcomed me. Will be back next time I’m in KC. 11/10
DShawn Jordan: Best gym in KC
Jon Jonez: I am glad I found this is an outstanding gym. The coaches are top notch and really focus on evolving your striking and really perfecting/sharpening even small details that I never even thought of. With a Great atmosphere too the gym is really for anyone from a soccer mom to a professional fighter. I’ve even trained with neurosurgeons here. Do yourself a favor and give it a try it’s the best decision I’ve made to evolve my striking.
Zion Brady: Male, 20:I had never done anything like this before. I've been going the last four months. Over that time I've learned all the fundamentals from proper punches, elbows, knees, kicks, head movement and clinch (stand up grappling). You can even take private lessons. The classes are no joke and the coaches are certified. Prices are extremely reasonable. The coach's are really doing this for the love of Muay Thai and the community. You'll be in good hands.
Kenneth Littlejohn: Great environment, Im always looking to come back and get better!

Glory MMA & Fitness Northland: what do users think?
Jamie Ojeda: A little concerned my kid doesn’t have consistency regarding their Coach.
Dawn Eblen: Glory is a great fit for our family as my husband and son both do jui jitsu while I do the kickboxing classes! Great workout!
Steve Mattice: Our family has been coming here for almost 5 years. I can't say enough great things about the staff and the folks that train here.
Ying Chow: Dropped into MMA classes for a few weeks while staying with family in Kansas City during the holiday-- I absolutely loved this gym and would absolutely train here full time if I lived here! I learned so much, and really loved the vibes and atmosphere at this gym. 10/10 recommend :)
Justin Hunt: Positive:ProfessionalismGreat gym, experienced coaches, and welcome atmosphere.
Carson Gorman: Grew up boxing, started BJJ about a month ago. The comradarie and welcoming at Glory is second to none. Every coach and training partner I've trained with has been awesome to mentor under.
Bruce Crosby: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI love going to this gym. I was worried about starting at 40, but everyone is willing to work with you. I’ve been going for over a year and miss the gym and people if I can’t make it in. They have great kids programs as well. Our 10 year old loves the class and coaches.
Christian Ringer: Best gym chain in the area guaranteed. They teach a variety of skills regarding fighting, also the head coach of the bjj and mma classes is a UFC fighter. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to get better at self defense or even cut a few lbs for your summer figure.
Jim Rusconi: Awesome staff
Earl Fowler: One of the top Northland fitness gyms in my opinion. You can plan on a great full body, gut wrenching, stress relieving workout, day in and day out. Instructors are very positive and encourage everyone to work hard .
Gerardo Mena: Wonderful place. Clean. Everyone is here to work hard towards their goals. Great atmosphere.
Haleigh: Positive:Communication,Quality,Value
Marti Belle: I walked into Glory MMA over a year ago and my experience has been amazing. I started off just doing the GloryFit classes, they are amazing cardio classes taught my amazing coaches. Each coach has a different style so no two classes are ever the same. The coaches work with you to keep you up to speed but also challenge you every class. It’s a great atmosphere and definitely a great value.
Brandon Liberty: Positive:ProfessionalismStaff and coaches are amazing. Great friendly place to train. Lot of great people.
Levi Clay: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value
jordan washington: Glory has the best gyms in the Midwest, best instructors, best staff! Highly recommended!
Brian Evans: One of the best BJJ and MMA experiences I’ve ever had. I was brand new in BJJ and welcomed with open arms. Zak & Matt run a family oriented but serious training environment. Whether you’ve never stepped on the mats before and want to start training, or need a hardcore coach to push you to the next level in the fight game. GLORY is the place to be!
Joe Hurtig: I found Glory through a trainer at another gym in 2016. I had always wanted to learn some martial art, and MMA striking seemed like a great introduction. I joined and immediately found an awesome group of coaches and friends. This place is more than a gym, it’s a community. The coaches really care about helping people achieve all their goals (look for the black chalk board wall with all the goals on them), not just fitness goals. They are kind, but hold people accountable. And most importantly, the leadership team leads by example! Since joining, I have seen them invest and reinvest into their gym. They have expanded, invested in new equipment, new mats, and have created a clean and comfortable and welcoming environment. There are a lot real fighters that train at Glory every day, but everyone has a place here. If you are interested in simply burning calories and getting more fit, give their GloryFit class a try. If you want to learn boxing/kickboxing, they have put together a an excellent striking program. I went from barely being able to throw a punch to feeling comfortable live sparring with others within a year. If you are more interested in grappling, their Brizalian Jiu Jitsu program is top notch, being led by some best black and brown belt coaches around. You won’t find a better group of men and women to train with either! These people push themselves and the people around them to be better than they thought possible!10/10 would recommend checking Glory MMA and Fitness out if you have any interest at all! I promise, it will exceed your expectations...it did mine at least!
Antonio Carmona: Love it
Sam Coronado: Coach Zak Cummings is an amazing and talented instructor, leader, fighter and person in general. Same can be said about every other instructor, as well. The gyms atmosphere is always welcoming and everyone’s focused on bettering themselves and each other always.

Aplomb Martial Arts Brookside: what do users think?
Doug Martens: I personally haven't begun any sort of lessons, however, have met the owner and experienced a little of his teachings. He's a great guy. I recommend giving him a try
Chris Mack: Positive:Professionalism,ValueThe instructors work hard to provide quality instruction in an ever evolving style of martial arts.
Libby May: We love Aplomb MA. The staff is very friendly.
Innovative Group: I enrolled my 7 year old son in classes today
Griffin Peoples: Everything is Fine.!
Jonathan Clarkson: A fun and life changing experience! Sensei Karen is both a great teacher and a great motivator. Aplomb is an accepting place of tolerance that welcomes anyone in to the dojo, and we are bound together as a family by our love for the art. To anyone who has ever considered doing martial arts, and even to those who haven't, taking advantage of the free introductory class will be a positive experience for you, even if you choose not to stay. Cannot recommend this experience enough!
Tara Atkinson: Our family has been a part of the dojo since March of this year and we couldn’t be happier with Sensei Karen. Our oldest is autistic and decided to join the dojo two weeks ago with her younger brothers, after attending a free class. Both boys are finally coming out of their shells and working on finding a new level of confidence. I’m grateful we found USSD and were welcomed with open arms to the dojo.
Josh Woolley: I've been a student here for about a month. There are people off all different skill levels. All are welcome here. The instructors are patient with everyone and offer personalized one on one training sessions to gauge what needs to be worked on and what a persons strengths are. Definitely check it out if your interested in self-defense or just physical fitness. You'll definitely sweat if your not used to it.
Miss Grimm: My daughter has been going here for about a month now. She is 2 and usually quite shy. Since going she has learned a lot and is becoming less shy not just in class but in every day life. I have also noticed a huge change in her behaviour, she was showing a lot of anger and rude behavior especially towards other kids and now she is happy and enjoys other kids company. The sensai is great with teaching and especially with her patience for young children. Overall my expectations have been beat 1000% and I would recommend the USSD Brookeside to any and everyone for sure!
Carolyn McManigal: My son has been taking classes and private lessons at USSD Brookside for almost a year now, and he absolutely loves it. Shaolin Kempo is the first physical activity that he has participated in that has not only kept his interest, but also helped with his concentration and discipline.Sensei Karen does a fantastic job teaching both children and adults. In fact, the classes looked like so much fun that I joined too. My physical conditioning has improved tremendously since starting. Learning both the physical and philosophical aspects of martial arts has been a wonderful addition to both our lives. I highly recommend USSD Brookside.
Donna Slade: Excellent my grandkids love being in the Karate class
Todd Ide: I was originally interested in getting my son into a physical activity. I thought that learning self defense was a great extra, also! But the benefits of learning self discipline, respect for others and vastly increased coordination and strength has turned out to be what I appreciate most about Sensei Karen at the Brookside USSD! Sensei Karen is not only good at teaching adults and young adults, but I have seen her keeping a whole class of tiny tots under control and enjoying learning karate! USSD also sells workout and sparring gear and martial arts weapons.
Arcella Willis: Sensei Karen is amazing with the kids.
Angie Long: My 9 year old son started at USSD in Brookside last March and he says the following "it's so much fun! Karate is a great sport. The senseis teach you so much. It makes you stronger and you learn patience and discipline. Sensei Karen is a wonderful teacher. Kempo is the greatest experience ever."
Kate Whittaker: My daughter really enjoys learning Kemp at USSD Brookside. It’s a very kid-friendly atmosphere, and the senseis are very positive and encouraging. They also make learning the moves and defenses fun for the kids.
Laura Brooks: My son enjoys a variety of sports, but Kempo is the first one that he has actively wanted to go to every day available and practice at home. I have been very impressed with Sensei Karen's ability to motivate and encourage students to achieve their best. We are very happy with the program and would recommend it for anyone wishing to try martial arts.
fortnite isaiah gang og squad: Am a student at the brookside dojo and my grandsons as well and we have a wonderful time, it's must exciting journey for myself it's helped my back situation, and as helped my grandsons with bully problems and they have more confidents in there self's now we appreciate you guys.
Hudson Kuechler: This is an amazing Martial Arts class, it will teach you how to defend yourselves in situations, and it is a good workout for people of all ages!
Mary Kay McGinty: I have been training with USSD for 3 years and feel I have become stronger and more self confident. I like learning how to defend myself and all the women teachers make great role models. I find the flow of the forms especially satisfying and learning Southern, Northern, and Stature of the Crane has been exciting. My favorite part of Kempo has to be weapons training with the Bo staff. I feel like it is an extension of my body and while anyone can train in karate, I feel that learning Bo staff is a special gift. I recommend this dojo to anyone looking to learn karate and grow in confidence.

If you live in the Northland and want a Gracie Certified Training Center (CTC), this is the place to train!

They are helpful, considerate, well staffed and building is clean and well maintained. They do outreach and give back to the community. He stays so tuned into Mr. Ben and the rest of the instructors, who do such a good job with the Little Kickers. Our goal was for him to learn discipline and have a good outlet for all the energy a 7 year old has and he's gotten all that and more! Would highly recommend for anyone looking to get their kids involved in martial arts.
Stephan Caine: KiCK Martial Arts is an absolutely amazing school that has done wonders for my daughter's confidence and attitude. All of the instructors have been beyond great. Michelle Kuzmic: Great instructors teaching these kids core values, my son loves his class and has more self confidence!❤️
Laura Cunningham: We love Kick! Our 5 year old gets a lot of out these classes. Self discipline, self confidence, self defense tools, and fun! Ground ZERO Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Self-Defense: what do users think?
John Gagen: Amazing Jiu Jitsu gym! This was an amazing first experience to jiu jitsu. Going into a sport like BJJ was super scary but all the people here made it super easy to get into it. The prices are super cheap compared to other schools. The classes teach BJJ in a perfect mix between sport and self defense. Derek is a super nice guy and is a great professor. They also host some great seminars that you can really learn a ton from. Below is a picture from one of their seminars with Royce Gracie; a UFC hall of famer and jiu jitsu champ. Overall a great way to get into jiu jitsu and a great deal for everything you get out of it.
Jason Kim: Amazing place to train!! Whatever your goals are - self defense, competition, fitness, weight loss...this crew can get you there! Very knowledgeable and a great environment that is welcoming. Highly recommended! 🤙
Jackson S: Great place to train! Professor Derek is very welcoming and friendly. Class is traditional and there is an element of conditioning built-in.
Jeff Maple: GZ is a great place to grow mentally and physically while learning one of the best martial art forms, BJJ. Family environment, yet competitive for those that have a desire for next level training. If not, a welcoming team that helps you to meet your personal goals. Striking and self defense classes provides a holistic experience in one location.
Jason Wilson: Positive atmosphere with very knowledgeable people.
Kyle S: Great atmosphere to train and learn. The instructors are professional and welcoming. The kids classes offer great BJJ teaching in a fun environment while also developing leadership and confidence.
Luke Haider: Great gym!
Joshua Holt: This gym is a terrific place to train. The head coach (and all the upper belts) are calm and supportive. I like jiu jitsu and love how the gym operates.
Roderick Sherrill: This place is amazing! They offer many different approaches to self defense but the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu here is top notch! The technique is the best I've experienced in KC. The people are very kind and professional. The kids classes are great! There are also two very good black belts that run classes. The offer judo, striking and more. As I have already said also great Jiu-Jitsu. I have decided to call this place home.
Nathan Wood: Excellent gym! The environment is very chill and everyone gets along with each other well. The coaching and techniques shown are top tier. Highly recommend for anyone at any skill level!
memyself &i: My favorite place to be. Excellent coaches with miles of patience. Everyone cares about and takes care of/helps each other the way a team should. When I show up early the kids class is going on and it isn’t hectic at all which is impressive. I can be having a bad day when I get to class and always leave with a smile. 👊
Christopher Chacon: Great gym
Mr M: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat place! I recommend any newcomers or experienced people to try out a class! The people here is super friendly and the professor goes into great detail on submission. The integrating some judo in there as well will greatly help your BJJ game
Joshua Young: Positive:Professionalism,QualityGreat classes for adults and kids. The coaches are always very patient and helps every step of the way. Family atmosphere
Brandon Cain: Derek is an incredible teacher, whether it be grappling or striking. He has the ability to break down complex ideas and effectively communicate them to even the newest students. His credentials back him up too. He has been on the podium of multiple IBJJF events as well as fought MMA against some legends of the sport, such as Jeremy Horn. Derek brings his experience of being a police officer in KCMO to his self defense and grappling classes. If you want to learn from one of Kansas City’s best and well rounded self defense schools, Ground Zero is the place for you.
Sergio Sarmiento: Positive:Professionalism
adam olson: This place is great, I didn't know what to expect going into it being that I was a absolute beginner. I have been going for about 2 months and am super happy that I worked up the nerve to give it a try. If you are just bored with your normal workout routine or if you want to become a national champion, they can accommodate your needs. The instructors have all types of championship metals they have won so you know they are legit and they have a real passion for teaching!
Conner Jones: I have been training at Ground Zero for a little over a year and a half. The training I have received under black belts Derek Ruffin and Dennis Sanders has been top notch. On top of the great instruction my training partners have become like a second family. This is truly a great place for all levels to train. I can not say enough great things about Derek, Dennis, and Ground Zero as a whole.
Johnathan Barrow: Ground Zero is an amazing place to get high level training. Derek Ruffin is an amazing BJJ Coach with a decade plus of experience. The group he teaches is super friendly and always welcoming to visitors including myself. I highly recommend them if you want to start your BJJ journey or if you're seeking a new place to hone your talents- Fair Pricing- Amazing Instruction- Friendly staff- Military Friendly
William Toney: Awesome place to train! Derek Ruffin is a great guy and has lots of experience in a variety of different martial arts as well as self defense. His instructors are also very qualified and are patient as you learn the ropes. The people that train here treat each other like family and its been great getting to know everyone. Its been a blast and I would highly recommend trying it out!

Warriors Academy KC: what do users think?
BrandonZerbe Libre: I’ve trained with my fair share of coaches and instructors. The staff here are world-class. Don’t believe me? Google them, or better yet just come try a class. To have access, in KC, to this level of training with coaches of this caliber is rare! No BS self-defense with their Krav program , competitive BJJ team, also a top-notch kids program for BJJ, coaches really take the time. It’s completely worth it. I won’t train anywhere else
Daniel Turner: 6 months in and not a single complaint, great place to push yourself and meet awesome people! The instructors care about your goals and help you every step of the way
Carlos Prince: Great energy in the gym everyone students and coaches make you feel welcome you can be yourself
Diago Hernandez: Great gym! Treats you like family!
Fisher Page: If your wanting the best possible experience for MMA, self defense, or a kickass workout this is the place to go hands down!
Leroy Arey: Great place to train. I hadn't trained in kickboxing for many years, but was welcomed. The place has very good, patient instructors that are happy to work with you. If you are interested in this, I highly recommend it.
Michael Um: I travel regularly for work and look for places to roll away from my home gym. I stopped by Warriors Academy while on a visit to KC, for a Jiu-Jitsu class. The instructor and students were very welcoming. The instructor was obviously very knowledgeable and allowed for, what I believe to be, an appropriate amount of time to drill the techniques he was teaching. We also spent some time rolling after the techniques part of the class, the atmosphere was great, awesome training partners and a great facility. If you're considering starting in Jiu-Jitsu, this would be a great place to get started. I'll definitely be back when in town and hope to be able to comment on some of the other types of classes. Thanks Warriors Academy KC!
Nicco Hamilton: Best place to learn self defense mma boxing bjj muay thai and kickboxing
JK Alston: Even though I don't live as close as I used to, I still train here and when my toddler is old enough, she will train in BJJ & hopefully also kickboxing here. I trust Chip as a BJJ youth instructor and hope he'll still be here when my daughter is 5.I moved from KCMO to Independence and I live very close to 2 martial arts schools in Independence and I will be staying with WAKC and not training at a closer place. Coach Frass cares about his students and helps us with not just self-defense but also mental wellness and being in shape. Dani, Bryan & Benda are also A+ coaches and people that I look forward to having teach my daughter how to defend herself and in Dani's case how to be a confident woman. The MMA program is well managed by Coach Tyler and there is a good group of guys and women in MMA. There are people of all races that train here and we have a lot of women that train at WAKC so it's a good place to meet different kinds of people. Also, on the social tip, I am able to speak my mind to people at this gym freely and be disagreed with respectably and in these days and times, people are ostracized for having the wrong opinion so this is a breath of fresh air.
Ameer Abood: Great atmosphere and amazing staff. They welcome all levels, including me as a beginner.
Mat Nguyen: First of all, if you're interested take them up on the trial class. It's the best way to see if it's what you're looking for. That being said, it wasn't a fit for me for a few reasons, but I'm glad I tried it out. I'm an adult and just did the one trial class but here's the key things I learned:- this isn't a place to get in shape, it's a place to train and learn how to fight. Of course you'll get in better shape doing that, but there's a minimum you need to be able to do to get the most out of the class.- you should either know some general fighting terminology to keep up, or know that you don't know and ask. I went in blind and have never watched a professional fight before so didn't know what I didn't know - but I have an idea now!- Tyler is an active fighter, so everything he teaches comes from a very practical place. The session I attended was good for all skill levels. While I won't be signing up (yet?) It definitely got me interested in the sport.
Renea Simpson: I have been taking Krav classes for over a year and have never regretted signing up. My confidence has grown and I am in better shape both physically and mentally since starting. The instructors are really great. They have patience with me when I am struggling with a new move but will also push me out of my comfort zone when needed. Everyone I have met there so far is is extremely nice and welcoming.
Phil B: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI cannot recommend this gym enough for your self-defense, BJJ, Muay Thai or MMA training! They even have a great Yoga program! I have been training there for over 7 years and it been worth every minute and every penny!
Kayde Burton: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI fight for this gym and have since the summer of 2021. This gym is so amazing I even moved an hour and a half from my hometown just for this gym.
Wyatt Preston: Absolutely the best martial art gym in KCThe instructors are all amazing and this is the place to learn how to defend yourself, get into shape, and have a TON of fun on top of it. Coming here is one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself.
yusef dia: This is the place to be if you actually want to fight. You can find plenty of legit martial arts and other boxing gyms in KC, but if you want to fight MMA, Muay Thai, or Kickboxing this is the place. These guys can get you an Amateur fight in 90 days if you want and have the skills for it. This gym spars often and trains hard. Class time isn't wasted on katas or ineffective warmups. Unlike other gyms you don't spend 90 minutes hitting the bag or pads, almost everything is based around actually executing effective strikes on a live opponent in Dutch style training.
Kim Hall: This is a great place to workout and learn self defense. They will meet you at the level you are at and work with what you have. I love learning and trying new skills in class. I’m so thankful they kept working with me when I couldn’t do one single push-up or burpee. Now 3.5 years later my health is better in my fifties than when I was in my thirties and forties. One of the best things about the academy is the instructors. They are professional and will push you to do your best. I can tell they really care about their students safety in and out of class. I’m healthier and have more confidence and skill than when I first started. And for that I’m forever grateful to the best instructors in KC.
shannon day: Positive:ValueI have been training under Frass Azab for over 8 yrs. There are many students that have trained under him as long or longer. Its a testament to the quality, care, and professionalism the gym and staff exude.
Rory Schwass: I’ve been fighting for 12 years and, after being to some really bad gyms, I’ve become extremely picky with where I choose to train. Warrior’s Academy checks all of the boxes I require before I commit to training somewhere.

Wildfire Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?
Hayden Ferguson: Great environment, nice mats and plenty of 1 on 1 time with instructors. Very affordable too! Wyatt is awesome
Elijah Irving: I’ve traveled all around doing BJJ from Japan to stateside and this is my first review that I’ve NEEDED to leave. Incredible school with a fantastic instructor. Involving Judo into Jiu Jitsu in a way that makes you comfortable and confident to stand in grappling has been a big goal of mine and Wyatt the owner and coach has done just that. 10/10 ground work coaching as well makes for a well rounded game. Is inviting to anyone who wants to train and try out this sport, as well as to fully develop your game if you’re at a more advanced level. I have nothing but respect for this gym and recommend it to anyone in KC or traveling and needing somewhere to train.
armando arevalo: I joined on a whim and wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Great environment, everyone has been nice and supportive. Best of all the owner Wyatt is knowledgeable and skilled. I've had a blast training with this group and feel like I have been learning a lot and I cannot recommend enough.
Sled Dog: Good people. Vary welcoming. Good technique
Jarrett Black: Stopped in here while I was in town to get some time on the mats. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The instructor was very clear and knowledgeable.
T B: Great School, approachable instructors, structured environment.
John Mormino: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueMy oldest son started taking classes here and I discovered it I started taking classes with my son and my smaller son unfortunately things have happened and we haven't been able to go lately but as soon as life allows we will be back great place to train
Joshua Mugg: I've been training here for over 2 years. Great bunch of folks. For folks new to the sport, everyone at Wildfire is eager to help you learn jui-jitsu, whether you're looking for a new martial art or never done one before in your life. For folks who have some bjj experience, you''ll find plenty of blue and purple belts on any given night. Folks here are pretty chill. We want to learn jui-jitsu, how to fight, and have fun in the process.
Kyle Kordenbrock: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe owner is what sold this gym for me. He is a professional who seeks to pass on his knowledge to EVERY member. What keeps me coming in is the dedication of our instructors to stay true to Gracie BJJ and the comradery shared between class mates. I am so grateful to have a place to learn this martial art.
Kaylee Farmer: Fantastic place to learn and train BJJ. After finishing each session, excited to return for another!
Josh Mormino: Simple, straightforward, safe, and most importantly, fun.
Ryan Davis: I started BJJ a few months ago and training at Wildfire has been a blast. Wyatt is a great instructor and everyone there is really friendly, patient and open to questions. You can tell everyone there loves it and they want to help others progress. For a new white belt, those qualities are of upmost importance. Cleanliness is also held to a high standard which for any gym is a must. Can’t recommend Wildfire enough for anyone looking to start or continue their BJJ journey.
papadoza Emm: I trained with Wyatt under Professor Graeber at Gracie Humaita. As a new “kid” and him waaaay more experienced, he took it upon himself to help me along. Being older than him, I was extremely humbled by his kindness, knowledge and experience of techniques. He was very meticulous when teaching me. Then, he opened his own school and knew immediately it would be a success! His gym is law enforcement friendly and everyone respects EVERYONE. He demands respect and integrity and gives it back 100%. Best money you will spend!!
Zaymeal: Good people, Excellent training environment. Well kept and clean facilities. Good focus on learning and improving.
melissa Davis: The instructors are kind and thorough. I enjoy the details and the explanations of how/why the moves work. Very welcoming environment! Great for new students.
Zach Smith: Wildfire is great because the instructors really care about making sure you understand the concepts you are applying and not just teaching “moves”. If you want to learn/get better at BJJ this is the place.
Robert Ficke: I am currently a member of this Jiu-Jitsu gym. This is my second year here and I have been significantly impressed with the compassion of instructors fellow members and training partners. Another BIG plus for this gym is (and I cannot emphasize this enough) that it is well maintained and clean! I started my Jiu-Jitsu journey a couple of years ago. I walked in and felt extremely welcomed. There is absolutely no gym intimidation. The owner was away on business for my very first visit but everyone came around and introduced themselves. I have met a lot of amazing and diverse people here which is why I keep coming back. If you are tired of the monotonous gym routine or wanting to find a new challenging hobby try this place out.
Scott Mountjoy: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueDetailed instruction, fun atmosphere, welcoming to the experienced and beginners alike.
Brian Parnell: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat place to train good environment clean mats great instruction.

Bodyfit KC: what do users think?
A Pennell: Great staff and classes
Malik Kamara: Clean, welcoming, safe and great environment!
Ryan Stahr: Great spot to work out - I was traveling for work and had a great experience doing drop-in classes with VaVa
123_Janavi Mata: Good machineries and good trainer
Grace Ridge: Visited KC for a work trip and wanted to get a workout in. I found Body Fit through google search, but im glad i did. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable! The workout was a good challenge, but they also will work with you for any modifications you may need.
Michael Banks: Best gym I’ve ever been to
faith howard: I have been here for about 5 months and I have the best gym experience in all of what they have to offer. Worth your money and worth your time. coaches know what they’re doing and it is an individualized style of coaching so everyone is involved!
Charles B: I tried multiples times to ask about pricing plans via email and phone, but Bodyfit unfortunately would not give me a straight answer. They kept insisting that I come in person to give a high-pressure sales pitch. The lack of transparency about their gym schedule and pricing plans was a major off-put.
mike pool: While visiting family in KC I was able to catch a few drop-in classes and what a great experience. The coach, David aka Vava, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. In just one session I recieved more 1-on-1 attention than I would get in a month from my gym back in Dallas. In addition, the other members were welcoming and the availible classes and times were abundant. If you're in KC check out this gym!
Noelle Brown: I am so grateful I found Bodyfit. It's a safe space where I feel pushed to always do and be better. They offer a variety of classes but Jiu Jitsu is my favorite. If you're considering joining a new gym, definitely check out Bodyfit KC.
Michael Kartsonis: I’ve gotten better at jujitsu and stronger than ever since joining this great team
Cody Atkinson: If you have any fitness goals, big or small, Bodyfit is the place to be! They have great trainers, equipment, a ton of different classes, the option to train alone if you want, and everyone is super nice and encouraging! I can't recommend it enough.
Jacob Keys: Knowledgeable staff. Trainers are top notch and friendly. Classes are fun and intense. I would highly recommend this gym for everyone from beginners to seasoned lifters. No matter what your goal is you can't find a better gym to help you reach new heights.
Stuart Riddle: Great place for a drop in. Super informative coaches too!
Devin Scala: I've been a part of this gym for about 4 years and it is now one of the biggest parts of my life. I can confidently say I am in the absolute best shape of my life and am stronger than I have ever been. I started coming here because it was close by and I wanted to lose a little weight, but the trainers and friends I have made at Bodyfit have unlocked a potential in me I didn't even know I had. Joining this gym was the best decision I have ever made.
Jerreice Robinson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI was looking for a gym that would educate me on proper form and technique. All the Staff are knowledgeable in just that! Not only are the employees so welcoming and genuinely nice, but so are the members! That alone speaks volumes. I would recommend to everyone!
Trevor Bell: I've been going to Bodyfit KC for a little over a year now and all I can say is that this place is truly special. I was a bit hesitant to join when I first checked it out because the price points that were given to me seemed a little high but when I got to see how much time, dedication, and genuine care goes into the classes and training from ALL of the coaches, that worry became an after-thought. Each coach there brings a wide range of different skills and traits to the table and all of them are professional, extremely knowledgeable and very dedicated to the success of the members. If you are looking for a place to learn new skills whether it be how to properly and safely lift weights, learn a martial art, or just feel that you are in a safe space to get in better shape and feel more confident, this gym is the place to go. Yes, it might be a bit more expensive then your Planet Fitness down the street but when you realize you can't put a price on health AND knowledge, you'll see this as an investment and one that is well worth it.
Nathan McGrath: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI was in KC for a couple of weeks and had the opportunity to drop in on a couple of BJJ classes. The instructors and other students were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to check out the sport or searching for high-quality training.
Neil Morrissette: When I first moved to Kansas City I hardly knew anyone and had never been very serious about exercise, but I had heard about this thing called jiu jitsu and figured I'd look for a place close to my apartment to try it out. Fast forward my 2.5 years in KC and Bodyfit taught me so much about determination, working through frustration, and continuing on when all you want to do is quit. Whether you are a world champion blackbelt or have never worn a gi, every member and instructor is respectful, patient, and motivating. If martial arts aren't your thing, all of that can also be found in their other classes. Now that I have since left KC, Bodyfit is one of the things I miss most about it. Looking for a new gym and only finding large corporate options makes me realize what a gem Bodyfit is. Even in the 2.5 years I was a member they made significant improvements to the facilities and programming, and have done even more since I moved away. I don't think I have ever written a review for any business but David and all the rest deserve every ounce of praise. Their Twitter bio says it best, "just a bunch of friends who like to work out together."
shireen s: BodyFit has officially become my ABSOLUTE favorite gym! Vava and his team have gone above and beyond to make sure newcomers like myself feel welcomed and supported. I was never confident in the way I worked out and never appreciated the feeling of a good work out because I truly did not know what that felt like until I joined BodyFit. Not only that, but I've also seen noticeable results and can feel my body changing for the better. I love BodyFit and I'm proud to be a BodyFit member!!
Dennis Dorrell: This gym is a community, home to a wide variety of members and coaches. You have a TON of options: strength training, conditioning, gymnastics, BJJ, kickboxing, Olympic weightlifting. The coaches are all knowledgeable about their classes. It’s awesome. It’s also a supportive, inclusive place. People here care—and not just about your fitness, but your health and self-confidence. They are not a gym to just take your money. You have to put in the work, but the coaches are there to ensure your success.I’ve only been a member for a few months, but I feel at home.
