Monique Kramper: I loved this office! I thought the office staff was wonderful and Dr. Allen did a phenomenal job . I was so nervous but the Dr and hygienist put me at ease. I would definitely recommend them.
Jenae Hudson: I had 5 extractions done here they got me in and got me out. I don't feel like I was educated afterwards about how my surgery went and what to expect other then the general information on the packet. They don't provide emergency dentist I have a dry socket and out of luck until Monday. I've Ben in alot of pain and discomfort and can't get in touch with anyone. I called their after hour line and they were very unprofessional and hung up in my face and was really rude.

Now when I was done I felt like I just fought Mike Tyson and Dr Vogel knew it. he called me as a great Dentist or Doctor should to check on me. And 24 hours later. Christine Ross: DO NOT EVER USE THESE PEOPLE AGAIN DO NOT GO HERE I honestly I wish I could put zero stars they are absolutely the worst surgeon I have ever delt with. The staff is rude and belittling I have work done when I went to get my stitches taken out the cut my gums without any warning or numbing ointment something to help with the pain. The doctor literally cut my gum I yelped in pain then I get told "oh your gums over grew some stitches so we have to cut your gums." When I said it hurt I was told to " muscle through it." These people are undeniably horrible worst experiences in my life I just don't want someone going through what I had to go through honestly never felt comfortable or safe the entire process dealing with these people they were even rude to my family member I WILL NEVER USE THIS FACIAL SURGERY GROUP AGAIN THEY ARE HORRIBLE.
Jeff Armstrong: I had cracked a tooth and it was beyond saving, so it had to be extracted. My wife is a dental hygienist, and her recommendation was to go to Dr. Tanner for the extraction and implant. I can be a little squeamish on any type of surgery, so I was a bit nervous going in for the extraction. I don't believe it could have gone better. I had very little swelling, no real pain (at all during, and little after), no side- or after-effects, and all with just a local. Removing the stitches was equally painless and a non-event for me. The implant session also went very well, also with local anesthesia. The staff are efficient, caring, and calming. They all really know what they're doing and make you comfortable each visit. Dr. Tanner explains what will happen, is also efficient, and also knows what he's doing, so I felt very confident going in for the implant procedure after how well the extraction went. As with most of their patients, I hope to not need their services again, however, if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.I also appreciated the personal call that evening or the next day to check on my pain level and remind me of the daily care responsibilities I have.
Shijia Zhai: Had a very bad experience at the plaza office when I went to get my tooth pulled. Despite Dr. Tanner's skills and professionalism, the whole office needs to work on their manners. The whole session was rushed because they had to deal with a complicated situation they didn't plan for. Also because they didn't receive a copy of x-ray from my family dentist prior to my visit, they said they would take one at no cost for reference, but when I asked for a copy for my x-ray, they refused to give it to me unless I pay for the x-ray exam out of pocket. Months later when I called the office regarding the bills, the lady on the phone interrupted me when I am still stating the purpose of my call. If I could rate 0/5 I would. Not recommending this office to anyone, there have to be a better service somewhere in Kansas City metro area.
Littlegambit Danilae: Would have rated 5 stars because everything was great, awesome staff- super nice and everything and a quick and easy operation....HOWEVER these reviews talking about being charged more than expected are definitely true. Prior to going in for wisdom tooth extraction I was told it would cost $371, At most for 4 teeth with my insurance.Due to complications I had one tooth removed prior to going in and I made 100% sure to call and talk with Shawn at FSG to see if there was a price difference and there was. I was told that it shouldn't cost more then $279 at the MOST. But after the procedure today when I was laying there another lady came in and said it was $300+ and I sobered up really fast. Just...way more then I was told. Honestly I'm disappointed in how that was done and would have preferred to be informed ahead of time. Aside from that though, everything was fine.
Derek Horine: Absolutely the worst medical service I have ever received before, my wife and I were told to arrive 30 min early which we did to only have to wait an hour and a half, the staff never informed us about how far behind they were running, you could clearly observe very clearly a high level of dis organization, after being taken to the back my wife was told to wait in the lobby and they would notify her when I was out of surgery and she would be aloud to come back to discuss with the surgeon and nurse about post care for what to avoid and how to treat my wisdom teeth to avoid receiving a dry socket, due to the surgeon and practices negligence to me and my wife by not taking the time to bring my wife back to discuss post care due to their lack of organization, they simply only asked for the co payment of $220 and that was it and had us escorted out the back and explained ABSOLUTELY nothing to either my wife and I. But they had no problem asking for our money! Because of the surgeon and practices lack of care and extreme negligence, I developed a dry socket where I was unable to sleep for 3 days due to extreme pain, massive headaches and feeling like I wanted to vomit, I now missed work because of this negligence. I am a Medical Sales Professional and have now missed work and lost wages due to this practices negligence and lack of care. I would never recommend this location or practice to anyone. I will add the berry road location saw me yesterday morning where the surgeon there was extremely understanding and kind, but still does not take away the negligence and care I received from the other surgeon and facility at the Plaza that now resulted in a dry socket and a true scenario of pain and suffering. Michael Alexander: Dr. Tanner is a remarkable highly skilled surgeon. He has a wonderful bedside manner and a wry sense of humor.I recently had a tooth extracted and a dental implant. Needless to say I expected the worse. Dr. Tanner and his staff put me at ease. I chose a local anesthetic. After the initial injection, I didn't experience any pain. He checked with me at regular intervals to see if I had any discomfort. When the surgery was complete, his staff made sure to explain what I needed to due post opp. The most pleasant surprise was when I received a call from Dr. Tanner later that evening to check on my well being. That was a first.If you are in need a oral surgeon that is at the top of his field and someone who truly cares about his patients then Dr. Tanner is your doctor.Michael A.
Pratik Home: I was referred by my dentist for my wisdom teeth extraction. Dr. Kasey Call did a fantastic job extracting two of my wisdom teeth, one of which was impacted. I recovered pretty fast and am thankful to Dr. Call for that.I did not receive a follow up call, which was a little disheartening. Moreover, I was billed more than double the estimate they gave me before the surgery. That was a shocker. I wish I had a little more clarity about that before I went for the surgery.

Danielle Parker: This past summer, My dentist Dr. Blair at Mingos and Associates, referred me to the Facial Surgery Group for my wisdom teeth removal. I was NOT excited and had been putting off the procedure for nearly a year. FSG called me a week or so prior and the day before to remind me of instructions, double check all my information, and answer any questions I had. When I went in, I felt very nervous about being put under to get my wisdom teeth out and the pain that would come after. The staff was friendly, and my surgeon, Dr. Tanner was very helpful in easing my worry. My friend came with me to drive me home afterward, and the recovery process was a breeze. I only used the pain medication the first day, and even lost a few pounds thanks to the soft diet haha. The directions they provided for recovery were simple to follow, and i didn't run into any issues while my mouth was healing. Now, a few months later - I am still very glad I went to FSG for my wisdom tooth removal. The staff was extremely kind and informative, and again, I had zero issues from scheduling to recovery. Thank you Facial Surgery Group for making my experience painless! (literally and figuratively)
Robyn Arthur: My 11 year old recently had to have 3 baby teeth pulled and Dr. Tanner and his staff were great. They made my son feel comfortable and they made me feel less anxious. I was concerned about the sedation and we talked through the options and it turned out, a couple of numbing shots would work just fine. His recovery was quick and fairly pain free. The staff explained everything happening during the procedure. The scheduling and insurance staff were also great, explaining the paperwork and schedule for payments. In the future if I need major dental work, I will call Dr. Tanner.

James Kubicz: The troubles with this place started as soon as I walked in the door.I had a 11am appointment. I was told that my appointment has been cancelled. I never cancelled it. It turns out someone in the office removed my appointment for someone else. They "squeezed me in", even though I made the appointment nearly two weeks earlier.When I was given my paperwork that goes over my upcoming procedure, they added in a bone graft. I was there for tooth extractions and an implant consultation. I never asked for a graft and it wasn't on my referral. So instead of consulting with an actual doctor, they automatically added in an extra procedure that would cost me an extra thousand dollars. It's all about those add-on sales, right?When I gave them the paper referral, it was different than the referral that was sent from my dentist. So they had to call my dentist to check. If I didn't bring in that paper referral, they would have pulled the wrong teeth from my mouth.While my appointment, referral, and the actual procedure were getting straightened out, the receptionist was yelling out all my details to me and everyone else in the waiting room. Complete strangers now know about my dental problems. Confidentiality be damned.Yes, they apologized for the trouble, but they doesn't take away that all this could have been prevented with better management.The actual procedure went well. Dr Tanner and the assistant were very thorough. The doctor called me personally to check up on me later that evening.If I need oral surgery again, I will be looking to a different doctor with competent front office staff.

BA B: How is it that a medical office can use multiple forms of communication when it’s in their best interest, but not in honor of patients’ time? Upon arrival, on time, there was a sign posted that said they were running up to 60 minutes behind. Given that we had to drive an hour to get here, a simple text notifying of the delay would’ve been helpful. Here we are now at one hour and 40 minutes late, and still waiting. It’s ridiculous, and completely disrespectful of people’s lives. I can think of no excuse not to employ basic customer service and use text messaging to update people with their appointment times.

Bj Walker: I was there on January 8, 2021 and could not enter because I had on two mask, I had to remove one before I could enter the main corridor to go to the 2nd floor clinic. On the news people are being advised to wear two mask if u can tolerate it. TMC wants to decide not only a mask must be worn, but how many u can wear at one time. That is definitely an invasion of a person’s civil rights!

They where very open with me on my options, and definitely took my anxiety seriously. All the nurses who helped me where kind, sweet, and encouraging. They literally made this the best experience I've had dental wise! I 10/10 recommend them. And yes there are sometimes long waits. But I CANNOT stress this enough. Through the doors you walk through, there's active surgeries going on, all around. And they're dealing with patients as well. But its there responsibility to that person in the OR to be alive and well. So they won't rush through your surgery. So please be patient. They're the best. They know what to do and how to do it!

Holly Ann: I was recommended to this facility by my awesome dentist. I am needing double jaw surgery and am receiving orthodontic care. I have only seen my oral surgeon, Dr. Barber, once for my consultation. He was great. The facility on the other hand is not great and I believe I waited 30-45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time to be even be called back. Since then, I have been attempting to reach the preauthorization department for months regarding a letter from my insurance company. I have left multiple messages with Amanda, and never receive any correspondence back. My orthodontist advised me to make an appointment with Dr. Barber. When I called to schedule said appointment, the woman at the front desk told me I was unable to make an appointment because I needed to speak with AMANDA, IN PREAUTHORIZATION. After stating to the woman on the phone that I was unable to reach Amanda multiple times, she still tried to transfer me to that department. I said absolutely not and was shortly transferred to the supervisor, where I was sent to - you guessed it - her voicemail. This whole situation has left me extremely upset and not wanting to receive any treatment from a Truman facility ever again. These people don't have time to speak with me for 5 or less minutes, email me or return any of my calls in going on three months regarding the most important step to the beginning of this whole process. Now I'm being told I'm unable to even make an appointment with the doctor who is supposed to be disconnecting both my jaws from my face. This has made for a horrible disorganized experience, I am rethinking my entire treatment plan at this point, I don't trust this facility and I don't recommend this facility to anyone.

Tiffany George: We didn even get to the surgery part! Our first appointment wS scheduled months in advance and we got no reminder call and missed it. Our second appointment we went to and they were running 2 hours behind not including appointment time. There was no way we could stay that long and make it back to get the kids from school so we had to leave! Call before you go.
Tyler Reaves: Do not have your wisdom teeth removed here. At this point I am nearly 4 months out from my surgery and I still have giant, gaping tooth holes at the extraction sites. Even if it's all your insurance will cover in the area - find somewhere else. It's worth the drive.

Henna Being: I (Jason) went here to have a very old, and failed, root canal extracted. I was worried, but the receptionist was friendly and comfortingly answered my questions. I was pleased to find that compassionate care was mentioned on their website. I got Dr. John Tanner and his assistant, who did an excellent, and quick job of pulling my tooth. Dr. Tanner also called me later in the evening to check on me and remind me of my aftercare. This is the best experience I’ve ever had with this kind of matter. Thanks again John!

Steve Brockman: I had two teeth extracted. Just prior to the procedure I told the nurse that I do not want any pain and I had been in major pain for the five days prior to visit. I also had arranged to stay home for the next five days. After the procedure I was told my prescription would be sent electronically and to give it an hour. About two hours later I was really starting to feel the pain. I went to get the prescription and my pharmacy had nothing in their system. I went back to the Dr office and they said they would send it now. For some reason they didn't send it when I left.The pharmacy was quick, but waiting while in pain was not fun. I was also not happy that I was only given enough for two days. An hour after taking the prescription along with ibuprofen I was in more pain than at the pharmacy. I melted a huge ice pack on my face trying to alleviate the pain. Eventually the pain lessened, but was still present.The next day I was still dealing with the pain. The Dr had left me a message saying to call if I needed anything. So I called to explain my pain and see if I could be prescribed something else to help. I was told I would have to drive down to the Plaza location and be seen before anything else could be done. For pain? I then asked if I would have to do the same when I run out of my prescription the next day and was told yes.I will never return. Horrible care for their patient's experience.
Joyce Erickson: I was very anxious when I arrived. Everyone made me feel comfortable from the lady at front desk (has a very calming voice) to the nurse to the dentist. I had a tooth pulled. The doctor numbed the area. The tooth was out before i knew it. The entire process was painless. I highly recommend this group.

Jade M: Went in to get a wisdom tooth out and Ashley did amazing. In and out with no pain and no swelling after. She’s awesome. Would have given 5 stars but their billing sucks. They require you to make a payment upfront before running your actual insurance. I was charged $189 plus tax and when I got my actual insurance eob I was only suppose to pay $97. So here I am still waiting on my refund that takes long to get but yet I had to pay upfront. I really wish this office would run your insurance first instead of guessing what it could or might be. Other than that no problems with this office… Just the way they bill.

Donald Schmidt: I had some complications that required multiple visits. Dr. Collier is incredibly good at explaining the options, and the reasons for the different options. He is also an excellent surgeon. I was referred to OFSA by my dentist, I would never consider going anywhere else now.

Augustine Batres (Gus): The receptionist seemed nice enough, and what a beautiful lady, I asked what was wrong with her ,she wasn't wearing a wedding ring,and drop dead gorgeous, the only issue I had on the phone they should tell somebody that they don't take Medicare or anything affiliated with medicare including supplemental insurance like cigna , I didn't get my tooth pulled.
Patricia Rusconi: I needed an emergency appointment after breaking a tooth. Dr. Nesslein and staff were kind, compassionate, and got me in within 3 hours of my call. Dr. Nesslein was also very reassuring and did not show any frustration with my super hard to numb mouth. We will definitely be utilizing this office in the future.
Elizabeth Davis: My husband went there to have 6 teeth extracted. He requested to be sedated and was not, but was told they saved him money by not sedating him. He was there less than an hour. I left to get food and pulled up to him walking out by himself. Less than a mile away on the way home he had what I believed to be a small seizure. He did not want to go back there ever again. The mannerisms are horrible. Abrasive. My husband told me prior to his appointment they were going to sedate him, but only numbed him like he was getting fillings. He still can’t eat normal foods, in a lot of pain.

Karen Powell: Most of the bad reviews are for office staff who no longer work there. I've gone several times in the last year since I needed extractions, bone grafts, implants. Both dentists are really nice, professional, and meticulous. I never had any problems. Dr.Hansen recently retired by the way, so ignore any comments pertaining to him.

Chelsea Strickland: I called them to see if I could get a tooth pulled there since I’m pregnant I’ve been turned down everywhere even with a note from OB saying I could have a tooth extracted. They got me in the same day. Pulled the tooth and was in and out of their office within 35 mins. Beyond amazing. After getting the tooth pulled I ended up with dry socket (absolutely no fault of the surgeon) I had the after hours call taker page Dr. Hansen over the weekend and he was so nice! I went in Monday and he treated me and I was on my way again within minutes. I’m so thankful for this office! If I ever need any oral surgery done again I will for sure go see him again!!!

The procedure went very smoothly and Dr. Hansen even called me at home later that day to check on me and make sure I was doing well. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Hansen was very friendly and professional. I had a tooth extracted and I was apprehensive about it. He made me feel at ease and took the tooth out so easily I was amazed. And then the doctor called me that night to see how I was doing. How many doctors do that. Not many.
Renee Ramage: As I sit here waiting for my daughter to get her wisdom teeth out, I am struck by how rude people have become. The receptionist here is not a customer service oriented person. She is rude, and extremely condescending. I wish I would have known that prior to coming here. I would have happily drove 50 miles out of my way to avoid such a rude person. Not a hello, not a smile, nothing. She then preceded to tell us what they "don't do". They don't call the insurance company. They don't do a lot. I was under the impression that verifying insurance was their job, especially since my insurance company already told us this place was in our network. This lady was extremely rude to the person checking out before we checked in, because his card didn't work. Fair warning: do not expect a friendly visit from this place. Wish there was a no star option. 5 stars on rudeness though! She's got that down like an expert!
Thomas Heskett: I'd much rather give a half star. The doctor was called in on a ER visit, charged me almost triple the the area's customary and usual charge. Since he was out of network, they can charge what they want. Not to mention, I had to go to another oral surgeon 5 days later to fix the issue.
Lindsey Hurtado: The lady that works at the check in desk with the bad lip job, oof she was rude. In person and on the phone. Tried to get me to pay more than what i was supposed to. My insurance company put her in check real quick. You could tell she was forcing herself to be “nice” to me, try a little harder next time honey. She should not work in customer service, EVER. Everybody else was decent. Doctor was probably the nicest person there. NEVER going back.

Steve Rands: Been waiting an hour and a half after my scheduled appointment for the first referral visit to this clinic. It seems there's no mechanism here to schedule consultation separately from surgical procedures. Would it not be possible to have a single day of the week dedicated to consults, that would each likely take only 15-30 min?Update: Ended up getting into an exam room 2hrs after appointment, vitals and x rays, then additional 1hr to see the resident, more x-rays and then attending physician - 4 hrs 20 min total. To their credit, both the resident and attending took the time to thoroughly explain options and answer questions. No complaints with the care, Scheduling could obviously be better.Sometimes the waiting room truly lives up to its name.
B: I had made an appointment in Dec 2022 and was scheduled for April 2023 for only a consultation for a wisdom tooth removal. A few days before my appointment in April, I received a message that my appointment was changed toward the end of the month of May 2023 without being notified first and when I called they told me it was because their clinic was going to be closed the day they made my appointment.It was frustrating to be moved to a different time and date without being contacted prior to accommodate for a convenient time for me and when I asked for a different time they said they only had availability in Sept. If you can then I definitely recommend to go else where.
Harlie Mason: I’ve called this place at least 20 times in the past two months trying to get an appointment (with a referral from my dentist!!!) and these people will NOT answer the phone and will NOT return my messages. It’s ridiculous. They’re the only people who take my insurance so I literally have no other options and I desperately need my wisdom teeth taken out. They’re impacted and cause a lot of pain. They obviously don’t want any patients the way the ignore every single phone call.Update: they finally decided to grace me with a phone call.. to let me know that they can’t get me in until September. I wonder how much earlier I could’ve gotten an appointment two months ago when I called the first 20 times.
mico mico: This is the most backwards organization I have ever dealt with. It should not take over a month to get oral surgery scheduled. My surgical prior authorization paperwork was not submitted to my insurance carrier in a timely manner. They sat on it for 2 weeks before submitting the prior authorization request. Totally unacceptable! If you have another option, I advise you to go elsewhere.
Krista Savoie: I do not recommend this place at all. For all 4 appointments we have had to wait at least an hour after our appointment time to be seen. Haven’t felt heard by any of the 3 doctors we’ve talked to.
Bre'ana johnson: I would not recommend going here. I went to the ER in March 2022 they referred me here. Finally got an oral surgery date for July 2022. My appointment was at 1:15pm, I got there around 12:30pm to fill out paperwork(1 page) I didn’t get called back til 1:45pm. They take my vitals and ask me the routine questions and I wait for the dentist all for him to say I wasn’t getting the surgery. I took a whole day of work off and was anxious all day because I thought I was going to have to be put to sleep for the procedure and it was just a waste of time and gas. Ugh never again

Jacquelyn Gibbs: My first visit was almost 2 hours long to take a quick x-ray and tell me they need to run pre-authorizations for insurance. We already had an x-ray from their Lakewood Dental Clinic and already knew what pre-authorizations needed to be submitted before this appointment... 2 hours to look in my mouth for 15 seconds. They may have a new name but the run around is the same as it's always been.
Clarissa Jackson: My daughter had oral surgery and the staff, nurses and doctors were pleasant. They explained thoroughly about the procedure and what will/may happen after the procedure. We had great experience. They are highly recommended by us!
Jennifer Owen (Sanchez): The doctors, nurses were nice and explained my treatment plan and answered all questions I had. I didn't have any problems with my visit at all. The registration staff could try and be more welcoming but I can shrug that off. After reading the reviews, I was a bit worried but it helped lower my expectations. The problem I have is trying to get in contact with anyone there by phone. They answer and you hear, "University health, can you hold?" Then you're put on hold. You don't even get to answer the question. Lol I had to reschedule an appointment and waited 15 min on hold. Another call, I waited 35 min on hold before getting a voice-mail box. I called back and told the operator that after 35 minutes on hold, I got sent to someone's vm, I heard a dramatic "UGH" then got put on hold. I gave up and ended the call. It's not difficult to be courteous and do your job. If you don't want to help people, get another profession.
Amanda Cole: This place is literally the worst place to get anything done. The receptionists are extremely rude. The wait to tell anyone you have a problem…not matter how urgent…is never less than 20 mins. Just to talk to one of the very rude receptionists. Where they will take your info and not call you back. Got all 4 wisdom teeth out, a week later I’m in extreme pain, I call and was told they were ‘busy running a clinic.’ Apparently don’t have time to let me tell them I’m in pain. Wish I would have looked around before getting anything done here.

Shawna Warren: First off, the reception staff have almost no customer service skills. Short to the point of being rude to patients. My son has been seen several times here for a scar on his face. The doctor recommended scar revision surgery, the scheduler called to set it up and I specifically asked about my out of pocket expense, she said I didn't have any but then received a bill for $1200 a month later. No one in the dr office or hospital billing departments could explain why, they just kept saying I needed to call the other billing department. When we went in for the surgery the doctor put my son under anesthesia just to decide to do a steroid injection that could have been done in the office. Why wasn't that decided before we went for surgery?? Why was my son put under anesthesia unnecessarily?? We had a follow up appointment today and I intended to ask the doctor about that but he's off this week!! None of the other doctors could answer my questions, they just said my son's doctor would call next week when he's back. Why wasn't the appointment rescheduled?? We drove an hour for nothing! I called my son's primary care doctor and requested a referral to another clinic.
Natalie Nicole: This is a horrible place in my opinion. I had four molars pulled here. It was clearly verbally discussed and decided at my pre surgery appointment that I was going to be given laughing gas but when I got there on the day of my surgery they said it wasn't ordered for me and it was too late for them to add it. And this was after they had already given me the local anesthetic which I have had at other dentist offices but it never hurt as bad as this time it was horrible the worst pain of my life so at that point I was ready to get it over with. So I had to do the surgery with no laughing gas. Once they started pulling my teeth I could feel everything and we had to stop mid procedure twice to administer more anesthetic. This happened with two different teeth! I could feel them being ripped out when I was supposed to be numb. Also it's been 9 days since the procedure and my throat has been extremely sore since the surgery and I have no idea why, ALL of my teeth are hurting and it has something to do with the way she pulled my teeth nothing feels right. Walgreens wouldn't fill the prescription they wrote for pain saying that they weren't authorized to prescribe the medication. It has been 9 whole days since the procedure and one half of my mouth is still fully numb without feeling or taste I called to speak to the doctor that performed my surgery or any doctor available on Monday morning and have still not recieved a response from a doctor! This place is the worst. Worst medical experience of my life I wish I had never gone to them and I do not recommend.
