Aaron: Went here because my Airbnb was super close and it was recommended. Cool atmosphere. Order at the counter and then grab a seat. Went basic eggs, toast, potato and bacon. Food came out in three minutes flat. Standard fare toast was very soft, potatoes a bit salty and bacon a bit chewy. Huge plate for $12 I couldn’t finish. Coffee was not good. Underwhelming but I’d give it another shot.

Nancy Fowler: Great date night destination. The atmosphere is quiet and very relaxed with great service. We both enjoyed the filet. The horseradish pepper mentioned in the description is so mild it doesn't really need to be mentioned on the menu. The staff was kind about celebrating a birthday without making a scene. The butter cake was amazing and rich enough to be shared with was perfect. Only thing we would have liked better would be hearing the live jazz. It's barely noticeable from most locations in the restaurant. Also, we usually love to share a Caesar for our appetizer and no Caesar is offered here. But overall, fabulous food and great service!

Casiano Trujillo: I decided to go to Chaz for my wife and I's 33rd wedding anniversary. We have heard good things and was excited to try Chaz for the first time. When we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation, I showed them my conformation, and they apologized for missing it. Because they couldn't find the reservation, the sat us down on this tiny table, and made us feel they had to fit us in. I first want to say the food was good, but we never initially received our appetizer. We asked about the appetizer, which they brought it out to us with no charge, but it was after we had already had dinner. I wanted this to be a special night, and all we received. were apologies over and over again. We had to ask for water refills, it was just not the evening we had planned. For such a nice place, it was a mess.To top it off, we valleted our new car, only to find out that they damaged our car. Now we have wait to see if they will fix it. Not the anniversary I wish we had.
J.T Walker: My wife and I came for dinner on 9-30-22 and had one of the best dining experiences ever, from the drinks to the service which was incredible and the food. We had appetizers of Calamari and Shrimp Cocktail and for entrées my wife had the Duke Wellington and I had the Steak Diane and all were cooked to perfection, I used to be their Executive Chef a long time ago and the Chef in charge Chef Savanah let me look at the kitchen and how it has changed. We definitely plan on coming back and enjoying many more meals there and I sorry that I can't remember our servers name but she was awesome.

Aaron Wong: I’ve been wanting to try this spot for a while now and so glad I got the chance. A buddy of mine brought me here for my birthday and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Kansas City. It was a Monday night and we didn’t have a reservation, so the host sat us up at the bar. Really not even worth mentioning except it was at the very end right next to the service well so it was a little distracting at times. The menu is New American/Italian/Asian fusion. We took recommendations from our server who may have been the floor manager. She helped us navigate the menu and we ended up ordering seaweed doughnut and crispy pork ribs to start. The seaweed doughnuts were decadent, think savory beignets with hint of seaweed smeared with a trout roe crema. The flavors of the crispy pork ribs heavily reminded me of a Vietnamese dish, bun cha. Next we had spicy strozzapretti and XO fried rice. The strozzapretti definitely stole the show, both of our favorite for the night. So much so we ordered a second. We still had a little room after so we asked for another suggestion and landed on the mushroom burger. It wasn’t a patty like I had expected, but more akin to a mushroom sloppy joe. That being said it did not disappoint the taste buds. Needless to say I’ll be back with the wife and friends in tow so I can try more phenomenal offerings from this menu.

I felt the portions were small. The thing that was so disappointing was that I chose the place based on a live music performance. There is one table directly behind a beam with nearly total obstructed viewing. Of course, that's where we were seated. I was so excited to try a good, albeit expensive, place and enjoy a show. I had reservations and everything. I couldn't enjoy the show I came to see. There was no forewarning or acknowledgement of the situation. zhuoxin wang: I made reservations long time ago at tasting room for my bf birthday. I left note when I made the reservation. And told them the moment I step in. nothing special for his birthday. And the picture is a small bouquet I paid for 75 plus service fee and taxes. This place is way over priced. And the girl server give me a feeling that she doesn’t even want to serve our table even they charged 100 service fees. Final bill is $620 for two ppl not worth it at all. Patrick Walker: A nice, updated take on the typical schnitzel and sausage fare you typically find in German restaurants. The brat trio was delicately flavored and nicely sauced. Preferable to the seafood risotto dish, which was competently executed, but nothing beyond what you’d find in another good local restaurant. The Painted Table dessert was remarkable in sweet flavors and in flame-illuminated presentation. Truly unique.

Woodsie Woods: First time and it was great. Ordered off their new seasonal “white asparagus” menu. The white asparagus soup had a nice deep flavor but was a tad too salty. I was very excited to see morel mushrooms on the menu with the white asparagus and morel mushroom spatzle. This dish had a nice sherry cream sauce, however it overpowered the delicate flavor of the morel mushrooms. Racheal Soendker: Truly one of the best restaurants in KC. Make a reservation to ensure you can be seated. Especially on the weekends. This is not a place to go if you are I'm a rush. They know how to time the dishes so you are sure to be finished with appetizers before the next course is brought out. They give you time to enjoy each course. If you choose to do a bottle of wine, the server is good about coming back to pour it timely. And the food is amazing. If you can, make sure you get there in the spring for the white asparagus menu. Shiona Deliozar: The service was excellent and the staff was really awesome and attentive. We thought the tasting menu itself was pretty average for the price. Everything tasted fresh but kind of lackluster, especially the apps and dessert and the Black Forest cake didn’t really have the layer of cherries like it’s supposed to. Still happy to try the place out with my hubby for my birthday dinner. We spent around $150 and left very full and satisfied.

Eunice P: The tartar was very yummy though a bit too salty. The veal schnitzel was dry, overdone, and a bit bland and the condiments and cucumber salad too sour. The beef roulade was like fancy meat loaf and tasted okay. The cabbage was delicious, but, again, a bit on the sour side considering it took up the majority of the plate. The drinks, vibe, and service were fantastic. I would have rated this a 4/5 but one of our party had stomach issues after eating the beef roulade and cabbage. I may give this place another try, but probably not for a while.

Scott Sulik: Came for dinner and had a very good experience overall. Food was great, presentation was impressive, and portion sizes were large.Understanding we dined during a busy dinner time on a weekend, the servers seemed overworked and some of the dishes came out a little colder than expected. Maugan Ra: A friend came from out of town and loves to try new food. She found Novel and we went. The waiter was prompt and personable (and even recognized my scientist nerd music from my Spotify, which hadn't turned off.) We had the steak tartare, which was fantastic and the fried potatoes... Melissa Davis: This restaurant was stellar! The service was impeccable every step of the way. Every item we ordered was next level. We started with the crispy farm egg and then the spring ravioli. Both were excellent. I had the KC strip for my main course and it did not disappoint. It was served with the best carrots I've ever had and I'm typically indifferent about carrots. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Chris Reyes: One of our favorite places. The food is consistently good here. The bar tenders make the best drinks. The bacon wrapped shrimp is a must. Outdoor seating is a must when its nice out. Large area outside to gather. The owners are there quite a bit to make sure the experience is personal. We usually get the steaks a salad and drinks. The carrot cake is our favorite for dessert.
Annette Berry: Went for date night and really enjoyed our dining experience. We started at the bar for re meal drinks. JJs has a great variety to choose from, and the bartender was knowledgeable and attentive. Then we moved outside for dinner. The food and service were generally great. My date didn't like his swordfish, and my carrot cake was dry and tasted like a bad grocery store version. Otherwise, the food was delicious. The ambiance must be mentioned cause it was so nice and added to the success of evening. I definitely recommend JJs for date night!

Sapphic Sphinx: Overpriced tourist trap for Johnson County palates. 12 dollars for a small, subpar cucumber salad. 10 dollars for ricotta on toast. For some perspective, this is the same price as the famed ricotta toast that also includes homemade jam at the Los Angeles restaurant “Sqirl”. Might be worth it to people who have not dined on tapas in other cities.And they respond to negative reviews so defensively, you’d think if they were confident in their product they’d ignore them. Would have given more stars if I hadn’t seen their treatment of dissatisfied customers. There are much worthier and fairly priced restaurants in the city. Fully expect a salty response to follow.
Alexis Ostiguy: We went with a group of 6 and ordered 12+ things off the menu to share. Everything was delicious. Our favorites were the fudgy eggs (I’ve never liked deviled eggs until this dish!), seared tuna and lamb kebabs. We went on a Monday and brought our own wine since there is a no corkage fee. It was a great experience! My only complaint was that it was loud. I think it would be a wonderful place to sit on the patio!
Peter Albert: Great little spot, right off the trolley. I had a delightful, barrel aged Negroni poured by a friendly bartender. He was helpful in selecting the seared tuna and falafel. Both we’re yummy (and I’m picky about my tuna). It was perfect.

Steak was good. Smashed potatoes were good. Muscles were good. One thing i love getting at tapas places is octopus which really disappointed me here. Portion was small and it was too chewy and spices were overpowering. Overall, it's an ok place, i just wish for food they were little more diverse with spices so not everything tastes so similar. For the price you are paying, i expected better.

Gwen Goldfish: Personally thought this place was overrated. Not bad - just overrated. I had the lamb kebab that was ground lamb when I was expecting pieces of lamb and it doesn't specify on the menu. It was set in a sauce which was pretty necessary because the lamb, ( even though ground and mixed with spices) didn't have much flavor. The server was really nice and very helpful but just a bit over the top.I would go again if someone else wanted to go but I wouldn't be in a hurry to try it again myself.
Rebecca Retzler: We went to extra virgin last night for our date night! It was my first time. Caitlin was our server and went above and beyond! She was very nice and came back to the table quickly. She suggested the tequila white wine sangria, that was amazing! The cucumber salad was wonderful! The flavor was great and so beautifully plated. The Roasted Feta was to die for! The way it was made, it felt very light. We also had the fuzzy eggs. Those were so good as well. We also had chicken which was cooked to perfection, it was moist and full of flavor.
