Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City: what do users think?
Kenyakk1 Kesterson: I'm not sure what the fuss is all about. I think the drs and ALL STAFF, are always doing their best to accommodate patients in a timely manner.relax and remember that patience is a virtue.
Ainslie: Dr. Hamdani is a lovely person and doctor. With her current online success educating people on mental health and ADHD, she's out of town a lot. She deserves her success and recognition, but her communication and response time via the patient portal has suffered. Unfortunately, I've had to find another doctor that I can speak to more easily. As far as the office staff goes, they're unfriendly, non-responsive, and don't return scheduling calls.
Mallory Howard: I love my psychiatrist here. He's great and listens and if I was only rating him, I would rate him 5/5 stars. The practice gets 3/5 though because it's always a mess trying to get a hold of them.EDIT: So the phone lines weren't working at no fault of their own (Apparently there was construction that took it out so I can't be mad at them for that.) The contact us email didn't work for me but I used the contact form on their website and a very nice person actually called back within a day so that was nice! I'm keeping this at 3/5 though for now because there is still a lot this practice needs to work on with things such as their billing portal, online scheduling portal, and their email. But I have to give credit where it's due.
michelle b.: It would be nice if they returned phone calls. We’ve been waiting for four days. You can’t even get them to answer phone. What about people in crisis? I don’t think they care.
delaney milstead: If i could give this place 0 stars i would. Let me start by saying it’s ironic that this place that is supposed to be a safe place for mental health yet none of the workers here have any respect for their patients, besides TMS, all other departments are absolutely horrible. Not only is every person extremely disrespectful, they are beyond hateful and have no compassion for the work they do (or don’t do)!
Michael Gagliano: Fantastic doctors, highly empathetic and do their best to do right by their patients. However, the front desk/reception is near impossible to get ahold of. Despite leaving multiple voicemails, and waiting on hold for over 30 minutes, it never ends up with connecting to anyone or anyone returning my calls. I am unsure if it’s understaffing, poor execution, or perhaps even the employees are underpaid for the amount of work they have to handle in this practice, but it is extremely maddening.
Maha: Thanks for the support and being kind and compassionate, Dr. Cole
Ramona Sanders-Bixbi: I see Dr. Everson and I really like him! But the turnaround time on RX refill requests, patched through to the Prescriber from the front desk, is pretty slow. I’ve only had one in-person appointment here and the staff was friendly and quick to get me in. I can’t blame the issues with technology on the staff themselves. All in all, this practice can definitely stand to see some modernization on the backend of their business (technology, customer service, operations, etc) but they have met my psychiatric needs well so far.
Elizabeth Pearson: I've been seeing Dr. Sasha Hamdani for years - she's incredible, in touch with today's latest studies, thinks outside of the box, and wildly efficient during appointments. Also, when scheduling, Victoria is a delight - empathetic and incredibly helpful.
Hannah Foster: I’ve been seeing Dr. Hamdani for a couple years now and she is amazing! She helped me find medication that was truly life changing! Never any problems with her or the office.
Isabella Grace: Dr. Velaquez is amazing! She takes the time in our meetings to actually understand my symptoms and discuss my options. The appointments never feel rushed and I get my questions answered. I have had a difficult experience with the administration/reception at this company with trying to get a hold of a person vs the answering machine which was annoying. However, the patient portal is extremely helpful because I get to communicate with my doctor about specifics and any follow up questions I may have.
Michael Long: These people do not care about their patients, only money. I have been trying to contact my daughters "doctor" for two months and they will not return my emails or phone calls. -5 STARS. Very unprofessional and I would say even dangerous.
Lucy Queen: This place gave me hope and peace. Dr. Velazquez is amazing and truly listens to you. I would 10/10 recommend seeing her. Definitely a safe space!!
Kaylee V: Was referred here by my GP for continued medication refills. I have already met with the doctor and told him I needed a refill and it's been over a month and no communication with me. I have called 1-2x/week for a month and cannot get a hold of anyone to help me. Highly recommend seeking care somewhere else.
Bryce Dorr: I had to spend half an hour filling out a form just to even schedule an appointment. Then when I got a call to schedule, the psychiatrist I wanted suddenly wasn't even taking new patients? The website clearly says she is taking new patients. I was so excited because she seemed like a perfect fit for me.The form also asked for a second choice, but that was completely ignored, and I was given a random doctor. And then AFTER I had the appointment scheduled, I was told it was a virtual appointment. I was never asked if I wanted a virtual appointment, and was never given any other option. Maybe the practice only does virtual appointments, but if so, I was never told in advance. I am not comfortable with a virtual appointment, so I went on the patient portal and canceled the appointment.I was only going with them in the first place because my GP sent me to them. Now I've wasted weeks that I could have spent looking for a decent practice.Don't ever use this group, and I would advise the doctors with this practice to find somewhere else to practice.... I don't know why you would want your name connected to such a poor organization.
Amanda Williams: Psychiatry Associates of Kansas City is the worst psychiatry office in Kansas City. Seriously, go elsewhere. They don't seem to grasp that they're dealing with patients who have psychiatric illnesses. They're entirely noncommutative and motivated by money. They load up their doctors with too many patients, which is why my previous psychiatrist left the practice. My new doctor, the younger Dr. Seagraves, did not even attempt to make a follow up appointment with me after my TMS treatment and this was after he straight up missed a scheduled appointment we'd had. They will not help you, go somewhere else
Elizabeth Mathis: I have seen my doc there for about 5 yrs. I've been taking Klonopin for 12 yrs. I told my doctor that I'd been drinking a little at night because I couldn't sleep and she immediately refused to refill my Klonopin rx. No meds to taper, nothing despite the fact that everybody knows withdrawal from Klonopin is nasty.I was forced to go to my primary care doc for low dosage Klonopin to help me taper off.Putting patients in a situation where they cold turkey stop an addictive drug with serious withdrawal symptoms is just irresponsible. I was frankly shocked. She just said, "Go to a medical detox" knowing I can't afford that.I'm looking for another doctor.
Theresa Harris: Been with Dr. Mays for years. He is professional, caring. I have referred many friends and family who felt they were finally being heard and helped!
Molly Stemper: Edited: they’ve made some serious improvements. Thanks guys! They don’t check their voicemails or return calls, so if there are any hiccups between the doctor and the pharmacy (which in my experience, happens almost every month), you’re going to be off your meds waiting sometimes weeks for your doctor to make a 30 second phone call.
Ryan Foster: I have now been waiting almost 4 months for an appointment. It's kind of bad when the VA is a shining gold standard to your office staff. Don't have any idea if they have any decent doctors cuz I can't even get past step one. This place is criminal. The owners of this place should be in jail
Allison Stock: If you appreciate your mental health, don't come to this office seeking long term help. They have policies against switching doctors, horrible communication, and customer service skills. I have run out of my medication on multiple occasions due to their negligence. Don't bother complaining to human resources because Meredith is rude and condescending. The only good experience I've received was with Donna in scheduling and billing.

Comprehensive Psychiatric: Mc Coy Patricia APRN: what do users think?
Matthew: The lack of urgency from everyone I’ve very tediously dealt with here over the years is extremely frustrating. Along with the poor energy, which should be enough reason to go elsewhere, there’s a very distinct odor of ham and cheese hot pocket that’s permanently baked into the walls, it’s a difficult smell to get out of your clothes. The responses to some of the google reviews are even extremely unprofessional. This place needs more help than it’s able to give, sadly.
Breanna Bunch: I am beyond upset with this place. The paperwork is OVERLY repetitive and asks the same questions way too many times. It has to be filled out by hand and taken in to them in person. Fine. Whatever. Done. Over the span of a month and a half or so I have called several times trying to get the status of my paperwork. Until today I'd remain on hold for 10-20 minutes until they answered and hung up on me or they sent me to voicemail. I finally got a person on the phone today and THEY SOMEHOW LOST MY PAPERWORK!? WHAT!? How does this even happen? If you all cant keep track of paperwork allow people to send it online? Like what the heck? I will NEVER recommend this place.
larry meyer: I had a great experience compared to others I’ve been too!
Entertainor: Very happy with my doctor, but abyssmal customer service. Won't respond to messages left by the pharmacy or patient.
terri fletcher: I am a new patient of Dr. Karim's and I have been thoroughly impressed by him and by his staff. I like the telehealth visits which are great so I do not always have to go into the office. Dr. Karin has a great bedside manner and is very professional and caring.
Susan Pullan: I will say, she got my son on the meds he needed so that it was actually pleasant to be around him again. However, this is the worst provider I have ever dealt with. The email with the link to the meeting is never in my email. I get a call before every appointment (sometimes as it is supposed to be starting) saying that the email they have isn't working. I tell them again, magically it goes through. This latest appointment I was scolded because after waiting for 10 minutes I told my son to go finish his school work and I would call him. "He just needs to wait because the same thing would happen if you were coming into the office to see me." Is all she would say. My time is no less important than hers and that was so disrespectful. We were changing the pharmacy to sent the prescription to so I was looking up the address to make sure it went to the right one (we just moved here so I still learning th area). She just kept saying is it north of the river or in independence. I don't freaking know lady that is why I'm looking up the address! She would not just wait while I double check and let asking over and over.. The moment we find a new clinic for this we will be transferring his records for sure.
Brad Hixson: Patty McCoy is an awful counselor, the office staff and customer service is worse. You and especially your child will leave with more problems than you came into with.
RU: This place should not exist
Tiffany Rhodes: I wasn’t going to even waste anymore of my time or energy on this place after my phone experience with the woman who I spoke with. I can’t remember her name, but I’ll refer to her as the “I can’t be bothered lady.” I had called 5 days prior and had to leave a voicemail. Same as my 2nd attempt to call a few days later. She called me back and here’s how the convo went:Her: (Cold, short, I can’t be bothered tone. Entire convo.) Stated her name and basically just asked why I was calling.Me: I’m calling looking for a new psychiatrist. Her: What’s your name?Me: I gave it to her 2-3 times while she did whatever she had to do.Her: Have you been here before?Me: No.Her: Stated she had demographics on me. Asked me again if I’d been there before.Me: No. I don’t recall. Maybe my son. Her: What’s his name?Me: Gave her his name. She went about to rambling about their new computer system. This took up several minutes. Her: (Finally) Well, the first thing you need to do is go online on our website, print off paperwork, fill it out & drop it off here. She never specified which forms.Me: I don’t currently have a working printer. Can you mail it to me?Her: No. You’ll have to come by and pick it up then.Me: I don’t have a vehicle right now. Can you please just mail me the paperwork? Her: (snotty) Then how were you going to get to your appointments?Me: My car tire is flat. It’s a temporary situation. Can you just mail me the forms? Her: Oh, that always stinks (or something very fakey). Well, since it is a temporary situation just come by once you get your tire fixed or ask a friend to print it off for you.Me: I don’t have any friends or anyone to print your paperwork off for me. You can’t just mail the paperwork? Her: No. We don’t mail the paperwork. You have to either print it from our website or come by and pick it up. Her voice trails off in the distance as I keep saying “Unbelievable” out loud.Me: Says nevermind & hangs up.
Bobbi Crockett: It has been 2 years since we were here, i should have made a review then but clearly I can see things simply have not changed. Do NOT see PATTY McCOY, as she acused my daughter and I of lying about her symptoms and medication and kicked us out of the facility. Which apparently come to find out I have since met 2 different sets of parents that attended there and experienced the very same thing. 1 I would NEVER EVER, LIE about my childerens pshyc health or any health for that matter and when we are coming to you in a confidential, vulnerable matter how dare you belittles my child doing it to me is one thing, and mind your she was 7 almost 8 at the time, any age thats wrong!!! It only creates more issues called trust thanks for making here moving on and trusting a doctor again so hard..... Fortunately my daughter has grown greatly and developed an amazing relationship with the same dr she's had for 2 years funny huh, its just sad because there's is several other Dr in this office that is so very friendly and the front staff receptionists work so hard and its usually the front faces that have to face the heat from the ugly heart in the back! I recommend if you got here, see anyone except her!
Traci Bruner (TRA): Don't go to this clinic!

Dr. Sherman Cole: what do users think?
Sarah Staat: I've been a patient with Dr. Cole for around 6 months or so at this point. He's not here to be warm fuzzy and talk through your problems, he's here to help you figure out what's happening and how to handle it from there. He's a great listener to any and all concerns you have and addresses them accordingly. I came to him with concerns about ADHD/Anxiety and how things have not worked/helped. He got me started immediately on some paperwork to determine if anything was tracking, to begin with. He asked all the questions and also showed his knowledge of Adult ADHD and did not brush off my concerns like PCPs or other doctors have. He knows his stuff, he's staying up to date on disorders and issues so that he can help in the best and most up-to-date way. If you're looking for a rainbows and sunshine personality, he isn't your man, but if you're wanting someone who gets to the root, and treats you like a human, not just another head case, Dr. Cole is the one you need to call.
Denys Barr-Dees: I’ve been a patient of Dr Coles for about 10 years, and he’s really amazing! He portrays understanding, and genuine empathy for the struggles of my daily life. He listens when I have any suggestion about medications etc that most in his field would simply disregard as if I know nothing. Dr Cole is very respectful, and genuine! Happy to be one of his patients!
amy coleman-miller: No help whatsoever and very rude
Angela A: I love Sherman Cole's professionalism. He doesn't waste time. He listens and gives positive feedback. I am so tired of the psychiatrists that want to talk about themselves during your appointment and he is not like this at all. I don't even want to talk about myself. That's what therapy is for! I express my current emotions, brief him on situations and we talk together about what medication we think is right for me. I have had three virtual appointments with him due to Covid, and they have been great.
Topper Soavi: Sherman Cole is a senile man who is disrespectful and doesn't respect his patients, treats them like dirt. Runs through them like just another job, absolutely no empathy or leeway. Also forgets to give you the right dosages and doesn't inform you if he is a doing a dose change. He's rude and doesn't listen to your concerns. He is the worst. Steer clear.
Tyler Carolan: Always 45 minutes to 2 hours late to appointments, no check-ups on patients, and no course of treatment plan even with the bad communication doesn't make a doctor I would trust. He's someone who wouldn't be caring for you, he'd be doing "his job" which ironically is load you with pills you dont need that mess you up and took a year to recover from his “treatments”. Then he will release you without ever really helping or even a legal warning of time to find a new doctor. Hes about 60 years late from the modern day of medicine.
Jessica Mackey Leary: I’m quite surprised by the negative reviews. I’ve been seeing Dr. Cole for a few years and he seemed to relate well with me even though I was a mom in my thirties so I don’t think his age affects anything. Sometimes my visits are a super short check in, and sometimes I ask a lot of questions and have longer visits. When I’ve wanted to try something different he listened, talked about all the different options, and gave me resources to research and let me time to decide. All I had to do was call back and leave a message after I decided. I’ve never had to wait long in the office and only had one tele health appt that delayed. The doctors don’t have nurses that are assigned to only them like medical offices do, so I could see why it seems less streamlined than a regular doctor's office. They are also very laid back and dress casually at the front desk, so I wonder if that is why there are so many notes about them being unprofessional? It’s taken about a business day each time to get a call or email back, but I didn’t have urgent questions.
Brian: Dr. Cole will not answer the phone or return your phone calls. He and his staff do nothing more than push unnecessary prescriptions. I wonder how much of a kickback he recieves from the drug company.
Taio Kassan (Taioty): Every appointment was late and I never left really knowing what his prescripton or treatment plan was exactly. Would not recommend, not the type of person who seemed to be empathetic.
Marge Hartzell: Excellent doctor
Krista Kloppenberg: Office staff is rude and they are VERY unorganized. No accountability take your business to a facility that wants to help you. Not just make a quick buck.

Dr. Innocent O. Anya, MD: what do users think?
My Names Drew: Was refused service because I didn't take the covid vaccine, regardless of natural immunity. I should have been able to tell by the name that this person is probably a leftist shill. This is what happens when you politicize medicine. It's clear this doctor cares more about virtue signaling than helping people. Also typical of leftists 🤷
Warren Herrick: NOT COMPETENT TO WORK WITH INDIVIDUALS WITH ADHD. I went to Dr. Anya for ADHD. It took me over six months to get a release of information from my prior doctor(hint, hint) As of my last visit they hadn’t gotten any response back He asked me a number of questions that seemed more relevant to assessing my current cognitive abilities. He told me that in his professional opinion because I can do things like “spell world backwards” and perform some basic math in my head that I didn’t have ADHD. I offered to go get tested somewhere else that specialized in ADHD and he declined. I have a niece that’s an MFCC and likes him and has referred patients to him and him so he may be good in other areas but he is not competent in and no one should see him for ADHD.
Dannielle Barton: Not LGBTQ friendly. Just a warning to anyone who is Non-binary or Trans. They ask you if you are and then reject you. They do refer you to another places that are though.
angela mattivi: I have been seeing Dr Anya for almost 3 years and really like him.
Autumn Shoemaker: Literally do not waste your time or money.
Tobi San Agustin: He's the most incompetent and uninterested doctor I have ever seen. Don't go to him!!!! Ever!!!!
Jacq Davis (tarot16): I adore Dr. Anya. Helpful, listens, remembers who I am, and he takes excellent notes and has great recall. He's shown plenty of interest in my progress and improvement over the last few years I've been seeing him.
Deanna Ray Eberhart: The two receptionists, Mikayla and Marsha, are incredibly rude and unprofessional. They are dressed in street clothes and are not well groomed or bathed. They refuse to wear masks. They are obviously unaware of their spatial surroundings, as they loudly badmouth their clients after every completed phone call. After hanging up, they discuss with one another the details of the phone call - including patient names, medications that they are prescribed, and intimate details of the phone call, such as whether a patient was crying or not. They show absolutely zero empathy and have no regard for the fact that they are broadcasting intimate, personal information into a small, crowded waiting room.
Phillis Samaniego: He himself is Very dismissive, plus inconsiderate staff to your trauma's. It's like talking to a wall with Anya as he just writes, doesnt ask life questions but sure likes his memory game like what's the date and who's the president to make sure your with it. He seems to care less, As he got up and left walking out of his office before officially concluding our session(like he could care less), he told me not to try to be seen again until I check myself in for someone else to figure me out and have discharge papers to prove so. He keeps everything on paper, except of course the appointment logs are the only thing kept on electronic file..straight from the reseptionists mouth Just to sit in his chair is 250$ and the sessions are barley 15 mins long and if u miss one appt. Your blacklisted pretty much from being seen again. The sessions are barley 15mins long and half if that is him WRITING instead of communicating with you. He needs to retire. Their understaffed and have their kids doing the filing. Nepotism hmm.
Michelle Jolley (Chell): Dr. Anya is THE BEST Psychiatrist I have ever had. He listens and he cares about his patients I highly recommend seeing him. He doesn't take my insurance and I love him so much that I will be paying out of my own pocket to come and see him. That's how great he is
MayMay Storm: Dr. Anya is a very kind and professional doctor. I lost my daughter to SIDS and was struggling with extreme panic disorder and PTSD when I scheduled my first appointment. I had been with another doctor for years and they refused to listen to my experience and concerns regarding their treatment, but Dr. Anya actually listened. The number one thing I appreciate about him is he has never shown me a know-it-all attitude. Being that I did go to school for radiology, and have spent many years in and out of emergency rooms, I do have quite a bit of medical knowledge, which he seems to affirm. I hate going to any medical professional and they lie directly to your face or discredit knowledge you may have. I've never felt that way about him. He even started me on the lowest dose of meds to make sure it didn't negatively effect my panic disorder. He listens and cares. Highly recommended.
Heather Bowman: This Dr needs to be reported to the board and any other way he can be reported. He over prescribes his staff is horribly rude and unprofessional. I had 3 yes 3 friends including myself in his care that overdosed because they were so doped up on meds he prescribed them. He gets a kick back on these meds and be smart people find a dr who genuinely wants to help you not throw meds at you and charge you ridiculous fees to spend 10 mins with you. ZERO stars!
leeann van: Was referred to Dr. Anya after leaving the hospital. His office staff was rude and wanted to overcharge me even though I have health insurance. Dr. Anya doesn't want to listen to you and is quick to write an RX script and not listen to your problems. At one point I was on five different types of meds and when I switched doctors he (the new psychiatrist) was able to reduce me to only two medications. Do not water your time or money with him and his office staff.
nick J: My experience was that they said my schedule appointment was the 1st when I told them over the phone ill do the 3rd and they scheduled it but when I came in they said oh we must've miscommunication so now I have to do a 250$ rescheduling fee so do yourself a favor record your phone calls cause obviously they don't even listen or do their job correctly
Nick Pappas: Dr. Anya is very thorough and takes his time to diagnose your condition. I always feel at ease despite debilitating anxiety. He is a busy man, so as long as you keep your appointments there are no issues. I appreciate the "memory game" he plays with me at each visit to make sure my mind stays sharp with the meds I'm on.
claude miller: Waited for remindercontact call for appt. My memory not so good since light stroke. No contact call made. Retired and insurance changed to tricare. Phone changing to consumer cellular not turned on yet. Now I find I need to "seek another provider" can't contact dr on a website. (Don't have one?)
Curtis Hohensee: Success health systems accepts new patients in 7 to 10 days!!!!Secretaries are extremely rude. Do yourself a favor dont waste your time here. When I scheduled my appointment they told me I would have 2 and a half months for my appointment. I said "okay, will you guys remind me?" They said, Yes the day before. I missed the call while I was at work now they want 250 dollars to reschedule. It's a shame they can get away with treating people like this
R L Durán: Dr Anya and his staff are completely unprofessional. When I came back out from the hospital and handed him my diagnosis, he stated that he wanted to know about any diagnosis of PTSD. When I described my diagnosis and that it was caused by domestic violence, I slipped the name of my abuser. He stated, and I quote, “Dr. _________’s son? He’s such a nice young man.”Ever since then, refilling my prescriptions has been a nightmare:I am looking elsewhere.
Julie Huebner: Everything was fine for about two years and then when things changed and I wanted answers he stopped answering
Alexxis Hennessy: I guess everyone has a different experience, but some of these reviews sound ridiculous. Dr. Anya is amazing. I would recommend him to anyone struggling. He actually listens to my concerns, and makes me feel comfortable when asking him questions without judgement . He’s SO smart and really wants to help his clients get better and find some relief. I won’t see anyone else except for Dr. Anya.
rangerdj1 DJ: A sign of a responsible doctor, at first he declined to see me. Why? My previous provider was prescribing irresponsibly. I’ve no doubt that provider meant well, but what he was prescribing me was killing me. After beating an addiction, Dr. Anya welcomed me and we started from scratch. He monitors meds well and prescribes common sense, too. He does not do hospital calls, but that allows his practice to be reliable. I am glad my GP referred him to me.
