Sheryl P: Took my dad here for Father's Day. The food wasn't much different then what they have during the week except for crab legs, fried shrimp and bbq ribs that we saw. It's what they always have in the weekends. He had trouble getting crab out of shells so he only ate a couple and I didn't eat any. His rib was cold so he didn't eat that and we only had a couple of fried shrimp along with the items we usually get. I got the check and it was double what I usually pay for the two of us. They had put Father's Day buffet on it thinking that should justify the high price. My dad has been throwing up all afternoon. Not sure which of the items caused it. We will be trying out some other options after this.
John F: We enjoyed our first experience here. There was a large selection, and everything tasted good. Nice staff and comfortable atmosphere! The food was decent quality, but not great. Some dishes were too salty or bland, and others were not very fresh. However, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. They refilled our drinks promptly, cleared our plates quickly, and offered us extra napkins and sauces. The service made up for the average food. I give this place a 4 out of 5 stars.

I have never tried anything from this place and thought “wow that was bad” EVERYTHING IS GOOD . You can also really tell that the people running this restaurant really care about it a lot as you can see the love in the food, decor and the meticulous cleaning. This is an S teir restaurant for me!
Abigail Richardson: This is the best Buffett in KC and the staff/ owner are very sweet the food is soooooo bomb I highly recommend this place in 2023 the grill is my favorite for fresh food cooked in front of you. Even more, they were able to accommodate larger (12) person group. Not many sushi places can do that. Definitely recommend trying this restaurant.Parking: There is a small lot in back and then you need to find street parking if that lot is full.

K L: So much came with the lunch bento box that I had enough leftovers for a second meal! The service is kind and fast. The tempura is perfectly fried — crispy and light batter — while the veggies are firm and cooked through. Great spot for lunch.

Lindsey Sequeira: Delicious! My fiancee and I stopped in for a Friday afternoon lunch. He got the teriyaki chicken bento, which came with very generous portions of rice, salad, veggie tempura and chicken and a very good miso soup. I got the two sushi roll lunch special, and while both rolls I got were good, I preferred the spicy tuna roll to the crab roll.We were seated right away and our table was nicely shaded even though we were buy the window. A great sushi lunch!

Jill Arnold: We scheduled reservations for Saturday 2/25/23 for 6pm for 15 people, to celebrate my sons birthday. We were advised later that day, that the restaurant would not be able to accommodate that many people at that time, so they changed it to 8pm. My son and his family arrived at 7:50 pm. No one never acknowledged them, so they just went and found them a seat in the corner. I arrived at 8pm, found them in the corner sitting, still waiting to get acknowledged. By 9pm, the waitress finally came over to us, asking how many people were in our party. She finally got us seated, shortly after 9pm. She took our drink orders, and never came back. The cook came over to our table and lit the fire, then he went out the front door of the restaurant to smoke 2 cigarettes, while we were still at the table waiting to get served.Around 9:30 pm, we gathered our belongings and left out of the restaurant.I will never recommend this place to anyone! I don’t know what the food taste like, because we were never served!

Joseph Dorjath: We have not seen recent reviews and why not. A delightful little establishment, with food and service prepared by people who care about what they present. Spicy Tuna Maki Roll delicious. Steamed dumplings rocked! Edamame very good. My teriyaki Chicken with vegetables and fried rice outstanding. Plus a side salad and Miso soup. Loved it and will recommend to anyone.

Robert Keough: Update 3/31/23. Yep. Still best in KC. Still no natto but maybe some day. No natto in any sushi joint I've found so far in town. Fried gyoza dumplings are nearly as good as my former mother in law used to make. To be fair, nobody's as good.I've tried all the sushi joints in this area and in my opinion this place is the best hands down. Sushi always tastes fresh. Even when we're eating at the hibachi tables, I always have to have a little sushi too. Gets pretty busy on weekends especially. Further evidence of the quality of this restaurant. So call ahead reservations are highly recommended.All the folks there are friendly and make you feel welcome. Especially Kim and Jay. They take pride in what they do and always welcome you with a smile.You can also have the same meals they prepare at the hibachi brought to you at a table if you want to have a more intimate dining experience. Just as tasty but you don't get to catch shrimp in your mouth.Try the fried dumplings. Just as good as my ex mother in law's Japanese gyoza.The only thing they don't have is natto - Japanese fermented soy beans. But then, I've yet to find a Japanese steakhouse that offers it.

Joshua Eaton: My father used to frequent Kabuki in Crown Center when I was a kid. I remember the kimonos and the horigotatsu tables that have a recess in the floor. The sushi would come out on wooden boats if you ordered a decent amount. I recently went to the new spot in Brookside for dinner with my wife and son.We started with an order of Edamame and the Green Lip Mussel appetizer they were featuring which was served hot and had a spicy mayo based sauce on top. Miso soup was great, had a salad also. Ordered Tempura Shrimp Roll, Salmon Nigiri, and Sushi Ume, chef's choice. Impressed with the size of cuts on the salmon. Plenty of food for 3 and came on the wooden boat. Great presentation with banana leaves and fresh orchid. I think I'm right that the sushi chef is the original owner's son, so there's some provenance here. I don't review much, but this was worth a review and pictures. Will be back.

The space is intimate yet spacious, homey and elegant all at once. 80s classics played as we enjoyed our miso soup, which, by the way, was delicious. Jenifer Calandra: We ordered two bento box dinners for take out, and both our selections were delicious! The Katsu chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the sushi was clearly prepared by someone with incredible knife skills. The sushi fish was fresh and didn’t smell fishy and old like it does at some other local establishments. The bento boxes also came with miso soup, salad, and two crab rangoons, all of which was also fresh and tasty. Even the rice side was fluffy and good! Will definitely be ordering from here again!
Laurel Jensen: My husband and I ordered several rolls of sushi for take-out. We were disappointed by the size of the rolls compared with how much we paid ($40). We classed it up at home using some of our own fun dishes.We might try one of their soups sometime while dining in—my husband saw a couple eating soup at a table while he was waiting for our food; the quality and amount looked much better for the price. Not satisfied with our experience here yet, but I will update the review if we try it again and enjoy a better experience.

Mihaela Evans: Wonderful rolls!! Got the lunch special for $13.95 and was able to get 3 nice size rolls to fill me up. The bagel roll was really delicious! It was salmon and cream cheese with a nice crispy deep fried tempura. My wife got the Rincon roll and she loved it also. Our house salads were a nice additional touch to the meal and the ginger dressing was on point. Great music to vibe with, friendly staff and overall knowledgeable about the menu. I would definitely return back for more. 👍🏻🔥💯🍣❤

Sara - A Flavor Journal: Sushi Haru is easily the best sushi in South KC. The sushi is always incredibly fresh, the other food options are consistently delicious, and service is friendly. I've ordered delivery from them a few times as well, and their attention to detail when packaging to-go food is impeccable. Everything I order is consistently made exactly as expected, thoughtfully crafted, and packaged with the intention to please the recipient. I've never gone without chopsticks, soy sauce, or any other item that may be needed, as well (even when you don't ask for any, they have your back). I can't say enough good things about dining and ordering delivery from this restaurant. If you're looking for great sushi out this way, you have to visit Sushi Haru!

The food is so amazing, and I got a whole mini buffet for me and my boyfriend and it was only 100 bucks and we’re gonna have leftovers for days. Arrived super fast and it’s the best sushi I’ve had out of any place I’ve been to. Jim B: 4/26/2023 was my first visit to Sushi Haru. My first thoughts when walking in were, wow this place looks nice, clean, and well decorated. The place was larger than I thought with table choices for 2, 4, 6, or extra large booths that might seat 8 people.The crab Rangoon appetizer was perfect and the 6 crab Rangoon were at least 60% larger than I am used to seeing. Our Sushi rolls arrived about the same time we finished the appetizer. The rolls were excellent. I was surprised that they were warm and lightly fried with a delicate crisp crust on the out side. The texture and flavor were both perfect. I will be back for more very soon. I want to try all of the many roll options that they offer. In my opinion, the prices were very reasonable and a little cheaper than another place where I had Sushi a few days before I dined here.Check out their menu. They have a lot of dishes, huge Sushi roll selection, and group options.Parking: Plenty of parking with handicap and a few regular parking spaces close to the entrance.

Rachel Weimer: This place used to be so much better when they had their sushi bar open. It just seemed more lively. The food was just meh. The miso soup was definitely lacking flavor and they over cooked the chicken and salmon. Also the yellow sauce wasn't the best. Salad was OK, veggies were good. Overall I think it's gone downhill over the last several years. I personally would go to Wasahi (which is where we were going but they weren't open for another 2 hours so we went here inatead). Still good service and staff, just lacking in environment and good food.

The only complaint we could have was parking which is not their fault.The prices on food were more than reasonable3 dollar soda6 dollar basic sushi rolls14 dollar dinner bento boxes2 dollar soups.To start, the miso and onion soup wasn't just broth and 1 leaf of seaweed or tofu. But what I felt was a fair mix, about 75% of broth and 25% of seaweed, tofu mushrooms, etc (depending on the soup choice), the sushi were larger than average. And the bento box was amazing. The fish all tasted fresh, felt like nothing was prepared ahead of time but made fresh.The staff could only be described as some of the best. Friendly and accommodating. My wife is used to a roll back home in Iowa and the server and chefs were willing to modify their existing basic rolls by adding cream cheese to make it like we were home. It definitely made our night.Our server. Jackson, was also very kind and patient with us as we as out of towners took longer than our usual to order as we discovered the menu.The soda did not taste watered down at all which was also refreshing to see they were using the right coke to soda water mix. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted a good amount of food to quality ratio. Just plan for extra time to walk here or to find parking. We ended up after 30 minutes parking about 3 blocks away which wasn't bad but definitely my only complaint.Parking: Parking was difficult to come by

I got sushi both times and loved it, and I drank a scorpion the second time and it was lovely. The first time we got the appetizer that is pork on a stick (I can't remember what it's called); it had a sweet taste that worked really well for it. The second time we got cream cheese rangoons for our appetizer. Most cream cheese rangoons kind of taste the same to me, but these tasted way better than most.
