Raymond Billings: Every step of this process (the installation, financing, technology/app tracking and tax filing) was smooth and effortless. We didn't work with Gary very much directly as much as we coordinated mostly with Hannah Wallace and several other people (Bailey, Becky and Chris). Everyone was great to work with despite the holiday season and weather challenges that presented with updated timelines.I was a bit nervous about the network of contractors utilized but it was unwarranted. The solar panel installation took a couple months with several visits from the installers, electricians and Shinova reps - pretty painless overall.I'm a huge fan of the real-time data tracking app installed on my phone with several metrics to gauge performance. The installed cellular card occasionally has issues staying connected to the cellular tower in our neighborhood, which is more indicative of the poor cell tower coverage. However, the instructions for configuring the gateway through our wi-fi was pretty straight forward as a nice alternative.Additionally, this year's tax return was a very pleasant surprise and far exceeded expectation. In fact, our experience has been better than promised from start to finish and beyond. We've been so happy to sing Shinova's praises to friends and family that my father-in-law opted to contract Shinova for his solar project kicking off next June.We couldn't be more excited about our decision to go solar with Shinova!

Linda Webb: We have had our solar for over a year. Prior to choosing a company, I did research on solar companies. Shinnova ranked high on ratings and still does. Many HOA’s list companies if you go solar and they rank high there too. I am extremely happy with the inspection process to make sure our roof support was sufficient. Shinnova added support to our newer home to make sure it met standards. The app I have lets me see how my solar is storing in the battery back up. I have met people that have solar which they bought through door to door salesmen. Please don’t go there. Choose a company that’s been around and has a high rating. We are glad we did!

I worked with Enphase on my own accord to correct some issues that were still going on with the system. I know from the past experience given the chance Enphase would have had installers come back out, but I was tired of that and took it upon myself. Shinnova themselves have been nothing less than great. The installation team were good too but maybe needed a bit more training. It would have been nice to have someone go over the app and all the options available instead of links to read/watch how it all works. I have been getting it figured out but at the expense of time. We started our solar process over a year ago, just went live 3 days ago with some issues still.The financing was the easiest part on our side. We are aware of a lot of issues that our current electric company has caused and Shinnova/Hannah worked through them very well, also aware that our current electric company held up the whole process for roughly 4 months.The sales person we worked with had used vacation vouchers as an incentive to sign up, another individual from the company was on site during the installation process and asked about them andsaid he would look into it and get back with us. That was over a month ago.We were in the install queue for 6-7 months before Shinnova contracted the install out. The installation team came out and took care of it, well almost. The electrical side had to be revisited on multiple occasions thanks in part to our current service provider and the inspector.As of this writing over a year into this process we are still not fully operational, cannot monitor the system properly, and still no word on the vouchers.I love the idea of solar for a lot of reasons. The issue is too many bad stories go along with the process. Our story is not a horrible one, but I would not consider it a good one either.Would I recommend Shinnova, possibly. They were responsive, took care of a lot of stuff in the background. We did feel like we were in limbo a few times. Still no vacation vouchers either.

Working with Matt on the sales team, he went above and beyond to support any issues I had and working with us to find the best financing option for my wife and I. He also explained the hardware and equipment that was going to be used and provided brochures for everything! He wasn't push, was very fun to talk to, not a pressuring sales person, and had some great "dad jokes". Their formal proposal had milestones with dates and activities that were clear and helped us understand all of the milestones of the project.Megan on the project management team always kept us up to date on changes to the permitting, the status of project milestones, and city approvals of the project.Jamie did a great job of letting us know the who, what, when, where of the install. He was present the first day of the install and attended the post install inspection with the local city official.The install team did a great job! The panels are square to the roof, they were all polite, easy to work with, and very helpful when answering questions. They did a pretty good job of picking up any pieces of wire or scrap, they all wore their appropriate PPE, and they were extremely fast! The install was initially quoted at 2 days and they were a little quicker than that.Again, I highly recommend Astrawatt for any solar installs! The people, the service, and the equipment are all top of the line!

Astrawatt did a great job installing my panels and quickly responded and resolved the few minor issues I experienced. The salesman, Bryan, was exceptional, very responsive, highly knowledgeable and always willing to thoroughly answer my questions and take care of my concerns. He frequently would record screencasts of himself answering questions and explaining things in detail, then he would email them to me. The financing options were especially confusing but Bryan recorded a video explaining them all in detail which I then shared with my husband. This was very helpful and a great business/selling practice. I felt that he was honest and up-front and didn't try to sell me a bigger system than I needed, unlike other solar companies I talked to. Some companies just tried to cram as many panels on my roof as they could which would have generated more power than I needed thus just causing me extra expense and to give all my extra power away to the utility company--ya, they would pay me a mere .02 cents a Kw, but that doesn't come close to covering the cost of the extra panels. Astrawatt calculated the number of panels I would need to maximize my investment and meet my energy needs based off of my past usage; not so many that I would generate more power than I needed, and not so few that I would be pulling from the grid more than I should. I appreciate them looking out for my interests and doing what was best for me. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to add solar to their homes.

Steven Ward: Highly recommend Astrawatt for solar panel installation in the Kanas City area.Prior to starting the process, I read many on line horror stories with other national installers about pushy sales process, delays in installation, incorrect paperwork submission, and project managers ghosting customers. My experience with Astrawatt was the farthest from those experiences and was outstanding. As they only recommend the best equipment brands and models, may not be as cheap as some other companies but receive a superior product since this is a 25 year investment.I received proposals from several other local installation companies as well. I had a focus on a local company that had a positive BBB rating, did the sales, project management, installation and service with no sub-contractors while having been in business for an extended period. Astrawatt fit those requirements, and their education first approach in the initial consultation showed their customer focus. At no time did my sales consultant Reid use any high pressure sales tactics, ensuring all my questions were answered and I was comfortable with my selection even, if I did not select them.Once contract was signed, Megan the assigned project manager was very responsive, providing routine updates on the process and quickly answering all my many questions. All applications to the city and Evergy occurred in a timely and complete fashion, resulting in the installation being scheduled and performed slightly ahead of schedule.The installation crew was very professional, completing the installation in 2 days as scheduled. Post installation inspection approval process was slightly delayed due to an overly picky city inspector (required updated engineering plans and resubmission for 1 panel that was re-oriented during install due to an obstruction). Astrawatt quickly updated the plans and resubmitted to the city which were approved and final inspection passed as quickly as the city's process allowed.I hope not to move ever again, but if I did I would use Astrawatt again on my next solar install.

J E: Our solar installation has been up for about four months now. Our latest Evergy bill was $7.40.Thank you to Astrawatt for having patience with my many, many questions. The professionalism of your Sales Rep, Rhody, your Manager, Project Manager, your Electricians, and your Installers was top notch. We tried to work with four companies before settling on Astrawatt, at a time were everyone and their cousin is trying to get into the solar gold rush. It truly came down to Astrawatt and only one other reputable company. The only feedback I might have is making it clearer how the inverters would produce versus the peak power of the panels and nominal conditions. Also, for weeks after the install, some screws, washers, and cables blew off the roof, but that's because it was ungodly windy on my install days. I'm sure the crew did everything they could to keep the site organized. Everything is working fine and I was impressed with how considerate and tidy the install crew was during that phase. I'll recommend people to Astrawatt for sure, and I'd encourage them to be patient with the process and to trust the team. We're very satisfied customers.

Dan Clough: I went through Barrett Solar to have solar panels put on my home. Barrett Solar gave me a quote through EnergySage along with several other installers. Barrett's was the best value and their salesperson Josh was great to work with. I was happy with the technical details of the system and felt like they were very straightforward in the sales process about the costs and what was and wasn't a good match for my needs. They send automated emails to let you know where they're at in the process, which is nice. They estimated 60 days from contract to installation, which they did meet.Barrett subcontracted the installation to another local company called 816 Solar Pro. They did great work and even despite some weather setbacks were able to get the system installed within a week.On to the bad - Between the time it was installed and I was allowed to turn it on, a squirrel got under the panels and started nesting. I raised this concern early on but didn't get much help. I wish Barrett would consider selling the add-ons that keep critters out. I had to go through another company to get one installed. Once I turned the system on, it was clear that the squirrel did damage some of the wiring and I was having issues with the system.Getting in touch with Barrett for service was a challenge. Voicemails and emails went unanswered for several weeks. Eventually I did get a response from the owner and it was sorted out. Their staff should be more responsive - even just a simple response of "thanks for the call/email, give us a bit to figure it out" would have saved a lot of frustration.

Kyle, Ezra, and James did a great job with the install and were patient with answering my detailed questions. They obviously know what they are doing. Their pricing per installed KW is very reasonable compared to the other companies in the area that I checked .I sent an inquiry email on a Friday and Tyler, the owner, responded the next day with a Zoom call. He designed the system as we talked and I could see the design process in another window on the screen.The installation was delayed a several months in part due to the county office handling the permitting process being short handed.The installation crew (Kyle, Hunter & Spencer) was great to work with. They finished the roof top (2 roofs) installation in 3 days, cleaned everything up and didn't mind my asking questions the entire time so I could have a good working knowledge of the system.We recommended them to neighbors who are now considering solar.

James Dunn: My experience with two installation completed by Barrett Solar--Each install was handled by separate sub-crews---both installation crews were considerate of my tenants and open to dialogue with me during the placement of panels and interface equipment. One of the projects was installation of solar panels on a contributing structure in a listed historic district--Barrett staff worked with the city Historic Resources Department for the appropriate location of the panels. At the time of this report no calls to Barrett Solar for maintenance or repairs. My next Solar project warrants a call to Barrett Solar for a proposal.

Mary Hunter: From estimate to final inspection our Barrett Solar project in summer 2022 took about a month, if memory serves. It was half the price of the competitors we got estimates from, with better panels that are manufactured in North America. The installation crew was considerate of our property and did a fantastic job. We also truly liked everyone we met from Barrett. Our results have been well worth the investment. Choose local and you won’t regret it with Barrett Solar.

Devin Self: We have been very happy with our ground mount solar system which was installed June 2022. I worked directly with Steve throughout the entire process and couldn't be happier with his customer service. Their pricing was better than most of the companies we contacted and they even offered superior LG panels. We made a last minute adjustment to the size/placement of the array which they were willing to accommodate. At the current production rate, we are hoping for a payoff in 10-12 years, but that will depend on several factors. I will update this review if anything changes.

Geoff Bingham: The experience with Barrett Solar was mostly good hence the 4 stars. The price was better than the other quotes I received and the installation was quick. Installed in two days from when they started and electric company inspected it a week later and we were up and running. The only inconvenience was that the scheduled install date was moved around a few times with little to no notice. Otherwise a great product thus far. We’ve had the panels running for over 2 months now.

Matt McGuire: It was a great experience dealing with Barrett solar. There installers were awesome answering all my many questions they did the installation in 2 days every thing went as planned it took a little bit of time to get it hooked up to my provider but that was on them no fault to Barrett I would definitely suggest using them I’ve had the solar for about 6 months and it’s producing more than I consume. The only drawback with my provider has some charges that I will always have to pay such as metering fee and a couple others so my electricity bill is $54.00 a month even in the summer it’s been working great they give you an app so you can tell what your producing and consuming so go with Barrett solar you won’t regret it

John Gillespie (Jay): We have been unable to communicate with our system since 4 -1-21. I have no idea whether it is working or not?? This companies phone number is now answered by another company and they have no knowledge of my system. I'm holding out hope that a different company we'd signed an extended warranty agreement with when we bought this system will be able to resolve our problem. I would be extremely leary about using KC Energy Solar for your home. We have spent well over 40K in a system that that we're uncertain if it is working properly or at all.

Now I'm stuck with a system that doesn't work and finding out the hard way I have no one to service it and have to pay another company to work on it. Troy Ward: If this is your first entry into solar, I would not recommend them. As with most sales pitches I was over promised. But that’s not even a concern now. Because it’s been 5 months since I’ve had the panels on my house, and 1 month since BPU gave the solar it’s blessing, and I have no clue what’s going on. I was told there was an app, but not what app, I was told I’d get an email with details and never received an email. In 2 weeks that I’ve tried reaching out I’ve gotten a “Wrong number”/no response/ and “reach out to David”. Overall this has been a disappointing experience and I would never recommend them.

Last weekend KCPL came and installed our net meter Don went out of his way to come out and turn our system on even though they are closed on the weekend. We didn’t have to wait until Monday.
